FANTASTIC, AWESOME, DELICIOUS food! Great and friendly service. Quaint and comfy atmosphere. We were in Great Lakes,IL for my son's Navy graduation and were staying at the Navy Lodge. The front desk highly recommend this place. We were so happy that she did because this was one of the best places to eat while out there. We actually visited this establishment twice within the week. The pizza is a MUST!! We tried the meat lovers which was FANTASTIC. The second time around we decided to try the seafood pizza and that was FABULOUS! We also had the onion rings both times. You cannot go wrong by visiting this place. I highly, highly recommend this place. I can't wait to go back if we are ever in Illinois.

First time in IL and wanted to try the famous Chicago style deep dish. It was thick with a golden crust that's sturdy without feeling like a bread wall. The mix of sliced meatballs, sausage, pepperoni, and bacon hits with smoky, savory heat, layered into molten cheese with tangy tomato sauce and large chunks of rich tomatoes. The wings were juicy with a crisp shell. The buffalo sauce was more tangy than spicy-- with just enough kick.

I was in town for business and a local recommended this place. Several years ago I had Chicago deep dish pizza in the heart of Chicago so I figured I'd try this place. It took several minutes for a server to come get my drink and order. After that everything was kosher. It had good flavor. Not quite what I remember from my trip to Chicago a long time ago. The outer crust was a little too thick if you will. But for the most part it was satisfying.

Family friendly pizza joint with hearty portions and good vibes. Great for large groups with plenty of seating even upstairs. We tried the infamous seafood specialty pizza and it did not disappoint. It kind of tasted like I was having a clam chowder soup out of a bread bowl (given the white sauce). I thought it was seasoned perfectly (not too salty) and enjoyed it because I've never had seafood on pizza before! The country Italia speciality pizza, however, was a bit too intense/salty for our taste buds but that was solved with mouthfuls of salad. I would skip if you're looking for something lighter. Looking forward to coming back and trying out some standards like the margherita and some unique zas like their four cheese macaroni and bacon!

The best pan pizza around! Great service with a smile. I haven't been disappointed in the 50+ years I've been to The Silo in Lake Bluff.

The small size pizza was cut into 6 slices so it's just about perfect for two adults. It was so savory it was literally hard to stop eating it! The sauce, although basic, had a nice tang to it and it really was perfectly matched to the ample cheese. The crust was cooked to perfection and I was glad to see it was a flour-based crust, not cornmeal. All in all, a surprisingly great experience in a nice casual setting (and very close in many ways to Nancy's Pizza on Broadway in the city).

Great flavor, perfectly balanced toppings, and definitely something I'd order again. We also tried the wings. I'd probably skip those next time. The sauce was just okay, and the wings themselves weren't as crispy as you'd expect. They tasted more like frozen wings than fresh. If that doesn't bother you, you might be fine -- but they didn't stand out. Our waiter was attentive, and the overall vibe is classic Quonset -- the smell of pizza in the air, cold beer, and friendly staff. Solid spot for pizza, just maybe not the wings.

Never timed it but it doesn't ever seem like a long wait and the product is a landmark of consistency. 12", $13.50 now. $4.50-$5.50 in the late 1970's. I've lived around here in stretches now and again for 50+ years and this place is always the same as it was when I was in high school. For a small, independent bar-pizza joint, that's really impressive. But this place deserves some kind of a plaque. The small cheese pizza these folks put out today is photo-level consistent with what they put out in 1970. Ordinarily I would accept that I may have a little wishful brain fog about the crust and the sauce and the cheese being identical but that's also what I see when I look at comments. So, I may pick one up this afternoon. What's described as the cracker style crust holds up pretty well but it's still best all-around when eaten in the store. Haven't eaten one while sitting at the bar right after it came out of the oven in a long time but if I order it when I get there, 1 diet Pepsi later I'm walking out the door. That's pretty close.

While I consider myself a foodie, I had little interest in driving around the Waukegan area the night I visited Anastasia's. At first it appeared to be a great choice--myriad people in the bar area talking, eating, and reacting to the televised game. I ordered a glass of wine to start; the pour was rather skimpy. Tempted to order another, I realized a single glass was on the border of my daily alcohol per diem?! I decided to forgo the pizza special for wings and cheese curds. The resulting dishes provided a healthy amount (see picture), however, taste (as other Yelpers note) was average. When you rack up $55 for cheese curds, wings, and a glass of wine, AND you leave feeling 'meh'--for me, Anastasia's is an easy, "Well, I tried it..." experience. I think my next two visits for work will be branching out to the surrounding area for alternative dinner options.
