It took about 10 minutes from ordering for our food to be ready. Everything was made to order. On the whole, we got exactly what we expected. A generously loaded wrap, fresh, bun-less burger loaded with toppings, and more tater tots than we knew what to do with. Came by for a quick bite one night on the way home and saw this restaurant. We decided to come in, we had a vast menu and we asked for a few recommendations before we ended up with their prime burger which has Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and their special sauce, Mac and cheese bites and the Mac wrap. We got a fountain drink to share but every drink they had was a bit watered down so we got an ice tea. Which ended up being fine from the fountain. The burger was huge, and I was full after about 1/3 of the way in. It was an okay burger, it got rather greasy and a bit heavy to finish. But the fries were crispy and perfectly salted. I ate one of the Mac and cheese bites and it was piping hot. The flavor wise was more like boxed mac and cheese and was a bit hard to eat. Overall we had a decent experience. I may consider coming back if I'm in the area again. read more

We went to Roost 83 for the first time today for lunch. The experience was underwhelming. My wife had a hot dog which she thought was smaller than Sammies. I had a brat which was just ok. I was charged 50 cents for grilled onions and the unacceptable 3% credit card service charge. Every merchant had factored credit card charges into their prices, adding an additional 3% is just gouging their customers. The chain restaurants and I am sure the high end don't add 3%, the large box stores don't add it in nor does Amazon because it's in the cost. I have no plans to return to Roost 83. read more

Decided to have lunch at Roost. Haven't been here for quite some time. It was a little on the quiet side, probably due to the rain. I ordered a garden salad, Reuben sandwich and fries. Food was prepared very quickly and it was very fresh tasting. The salad was very large and had a good mix of vegetables including mushrooms, onions, bell peppers. Really fresh tasting. I good have eaten that and been happy. The Reuben was a diner-style with the a little greasy feel to the bread from being melted on the flattop. It was really tasty and was soooo good. They charge $1.45 extra for a Nutella milkshake, and then just give you a chocolate shake without Nutella in it. I also tried the funnel cake fries and they tasted like they were fried with seafood, and the oil hadn't been changed out in a year. They were so gross I couldn't even eat them and had to ask for a refund. read more

UPDATING REVIEW: WAS FIVE STARS, STILL FIVE STARS! So I had the mushroom burger (1/3lb) and the sweet potato fries. The burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had if not THE best. Everything was obviously fresh. The sweet potato fries are under their specials for a reason: they're very slightly tasting of cinnamon but not sweet, and they come with a cinnamon honey sauce on the side. Not to mention that the fries are very obviously fresh-cut. Everything was wonderful especially for the price. UPDATE: We just got Italian beefs, fries and their 99 cent hotdogs. The Italian beef is the second best we've ever had, the only one beating is Portillos but honestly not by much. The hot dogs, however, are the best my parents have ever had outside of the city. They both agree that the hot dogs are the best they have ever had in this area and they've lived here for more than 30 years. The staff was very friendly too. Favorite place now! read more

For the restaurant in its category its still a great spot. I tried not to criticize any places during the pandemic. This place is my mothers favorite place to get her hotdog fix on Sundays when it is less priced. Not sure of what the price is now. They provide so many options and the last time I was here before today a couple of weeks ago, I had the most delicious greasy Italian beef egg roll. Yes it was grease but Delish! Today we had takeout tonight with wings, sweet potato fries and tempura fried mushrooms the bag was huge for mushrooms just FYI. Wings seem to be even on drums/flats. Delicious fresh cooked not reheated like some places. Sweet potato fries were delicious. The tempura mushrooms were good but too much breading for my preference- I personally like thinner breading but it was soft and spongy having a pleasant hot center bite to it. Yuck. We just moved to the area and decided to try Roost for dinner. Chicken tenders were over cooked, dry and tasteless. Gyro was also dry (the meat) and seemed well past it's prime. Cheesesteak was just 'ok'. Also somewhat dry and the bun was stale. We arrived well before closing. We were the only ones there, but the dining room was dirty and employees were all just hanging on counters shooting the **** . Definitely won't be back and do not recommend. Over the top on the grease! Made me sick. Cook disagreed with me when I suggested my food was too greasy!? Stopped in with my kids for a quick bite. We had the gyro sandwich, kids chicken nuggets and one of their signature sandwiches, the 'pork roost'. The nuggets were fine, typical pre-prepared food as expected. The gyro was strangely overly greasy. I am not sure how they a accomplished that. Maybe the added oil to the grill when they heated the meat? Not bad, but room for improvement. The pork roost sandwich was 'meh'. It was described as 'spicy pork with optional cheese and peppers'. I opted for that sandwich with hot peppers and the optional cheese. This sandwich was unique to say the least. Fried pork shreds (??) on toasted bread with hot peppers and a heaping helping of the hot pepper oil and mozzarella cheese. The whole bun was saturated in the pepper oil. Also had a strange sweet sauce. The sandwich was not terrible, but I could not eat it all due to the grease. It left pools in the bottom of my basket, which was pretty repulsive. I decided to give the cooks some constructive feedback. I know the place is kinda new and I genuinely wanted to help them out with my opinion. I told them a fried sandwich, with greasy cheese and a bunch of pepper oil is a little much in the greasy side. I was basically told I was wrong and that people like the pepper oil and grease. I took a look around me at all the empty tables at peak lunch time and decided he must surely know something I don't. Thanks goodness the cook knows what I like better than I do. I tried to convince him that thee was room for improvement, to no avail. He then asked me how it was overall, and I had to lie. 'Pretty good', I said. I did not want to be told I was wrong again... I mean, no attempt to listen at all!? Well, I had that sandwich two days ago and I am still unable to keep much down. I've been a few times and will go back. Hot dogs are good. I had some kind of beef once and didn't care for it. It doesn't seem much different from Mitch's, a restaurant that failed at that location. I'd like to suggest a couple changes. 1. Stop overfilling the napkin dispensers. They're stuffed so tight that I can't pull one napkin, I have to grab ten. Wasteful! While on the subject of napkins, I'd appreciate larger, better napkins or just a roll of paper towels. 2. Deliver the food to the table. I finally stopped in to try it out and glad I did! I'm definitely going back! The prep time was a bit long but well worth it. Please don't go here expecting your meal in 6 minutes. I think we waited around 15. We got the wings, large fries and drinks. I got the jumbo wings w/extra hot buffalo sauce extra wet and they're my vote for the best wings in the county if not state! Forget Buffalo Wild Wings. So moist they nearly fall off the bone and enough spice to make me break a sweat. Fries were great and looking forward to going back already! Staff at restaurant used dirty rags to clean their hands and then put it back under the stove and then use the same dirty rag to clean their hands. Staff not wearing any type of head protection (hat, nets) to prevent hair falling into the food. One staff member sneezed into a sleeve and then use the dirty rag to clean his hands again I never once watch anyone wash their hands before they dealt with food. Roost 83 is not your typical hot dog/beef/burger joint, although my husband still raves about the double cheeseburger he had there a few weeks ago, as 'the best burger he's had in a long time'. Their menu has a lot more than burgers to offer; I highly recommend the Chicken Chipotle Panini paired with a Fruity Pebble shake! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is the wait time for freshly prepared food can be a bit longer than expected, especially during the M-F lunch rush, but I'm willing to bet this will improve with time.
