Came by for a quick bite one night on the way home and saw this restaurant. We decided to come in, we had a vast menu and we asked for a few recommendations before we ended up with their prime burger which has Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, and their special sauce, Mac and cheese bites and the Mac wrap. We got a fountain drink to share but every drink they had was a bit watered down so we got an ice tea. Which ended up being fine from the fountain. The burger was huge, and I was full after about 1/3 of the way in. It was an okay burger, it got rather greasy and a bit heavy to finish. But the fries were crispy and perfectly salted. I ate one of the Mac and cheese bites and it was piping hot. The flavor wise was more like boxed mac and cheese and was a bit hard to eat. Overall we had a decent experience. I may consider coming back if I'm in the area again.

2 Chicago dogs and French fries
    Ron W.

Gooood food! Two Chicago dogs and fries. $11.50. That's not bad in 2023. And they did these dogs right. You cannot take that for granted anymore, even in the Chicago metro area. But these are the real deal. And they have a huge menu supporting the glorious doggies. Burgers, wraps, chili, and tons of stuff you've never thought of before. Limited seating area during lunch rush but nobody was standing around waiting. Yes, this area is awash in hot dogs but if you need a place where you know it will be right, this is your joint in Grays Lake.

Double dipped, over cooked fries chunky oniond (too difficult and time consuming to slice them properly) and some lettuce root in my salad.

Gyro combo and garden salad. $25 with tip and surcharge. Fries were double dipped, and I don't know what that green thing is that was in my salad. Need to do better or lower your prices. But hey, it was only carry out. Who cares about quality when the customer doesn't see their food till they get home. Date was 07 May 2025 at 4:30 PM

Absolutely love this place! Service is fast and friendly, and they have a great variety of food options for reasonable prices. This is my go-to place since moving to Grayslake 3 years ago!

Mushroom burger, SO good and big too

UPDATING REVIEW: WAS FIVE STARS, STILL FIVE STARS! So I had the mushroom burger (1/3lb) and the sweet potato fries. The burger was one of the best burgers I've ever had if not THE best. Everything was obviously fresh. The sweet potato fries are under their specials for a reason: they're very slightly tasting of cinnamon but not sweet, and they come with a cinnamon honey sauce on the side. Not to mention that the fries are very obviously fresh-cut. Everything was wonderful especially for the price. UPDATE: We just got Italian beefs, fries and their 99 cent hotdogs. The Italian beef is the second best we've ever had, the only one beating is Portillos but honestly not by much. The hot dogs, however, are the best my parents have ever had outside of the city. They both agree that the hot dogs are the best they have ever had in this area and they've lived here for more than 30 years. The staff was very friendly too. Favorite place now!

Came on a Thursday after lunch and it wasn't too busy. Ordered the Tocilog - which is sweet pork with a side of garlic fried rice, and an egg cooked any way you like. Also came with a side of noodles (pancit). Since I was here, decided to order some calamansi wings to go. And of course an ube milk tea. I really enjoyed my meal. The Tocino was a little different from what I'm used to. I'm used to a slab of pork pan fried with the fat fried to a slight crunch lol. I'm also used to tocino being red in color. I guess the tocino here is a little more leaner and no artificial colors - which works for me as I'm kinda allergic to red dye. But it tasted good, very flavorful. Loved the garlic rice as well. Pancit noodles were okay - could have used a little more seasoning but I could dig it Calamansi wings were low key fire. The crisp of the wings were perfection and the meat was not tough - still nice and juicy. I would get these again. They did have other flavors available that I need to come and try as well such as adobo and salt & pepper. Servers were nice and food came out pretty fast.

They were great and friendly and I did not mention or complain about the lack of customizations to them nor did I complain about the onions- i did not say a word when trying to figure out kikosk (or tablet whatever you call it) Kikosk ordering at the counter- It would not allow me to add sauce on side. There was no description of what it was so was confusing when ordered at first. The menu/kikosk doesnt say what kind of sauce- drives me crazy when there is no clear definition for people who are picky or cant have certain items in their food. My shake did not come with whipped cream unlike pictures or social media feeds. Fountain drink was flat to my disappointment so got refunded for that only and went with water. Clean taste. Burger has great potential but if they are not allowing us to customize it to our own preference it will fail in this location. Lack of toppings to my dismay- When I got my burger with the sauce cheese and grilled onions, it looked good at first glance. When I bit into the grilled onions it was not tender/soft it was like eating stringy rope with the burger yanking it out with my teeth . Sauce wasnt memoriable for me. Still have no idea what it consisted of even few days later. Again Bun/meat was delish driving me on eating the burger. Fries were ok- nothing to write home about. Not coming back though until they improve on some areas. This is too expensive for the mistakes/lack of customization/options for a picky person like me. If it was signifcantly less in cost I would have let it slide and bring home plain burgers and customize it at home. But this was a HUGE bucket list for me being open minded about what went on my burger (I usually ask for plain with certain toppings only) Best of luck to this establishment!

Unfortunately, despite being a loyal customer and encouraging others to spend their money here, I have repeatedly been met with disrespectful and dismissive treatment from ownership. This has not been a one-time incident or a misunderstanding. I can think of at least 5-10 separate occasions where interactions left me feeling unwelcome and unappreciated as a customer. I never expected special treatment for bringing people in. I only expected basic courtesy and respect. Instead, I often felt like my business and the business of the people I brought with me did not matter. The food and atmosphere may be fine, but customer service starts at the top. After multiple negative experiences, I can no longer recommend this place to friends or family. I sincerely hope ownership takes customer feedback more seriously in the future, because no customer should leave feeling disrespected after choosing to support a local business. 10/10 piece if shit owner. The bar tenders are great except for the older bigger lady. On top of that, my mother suffers from stage 3 cancer and when me, her, and 3 friends came(we go every week, never had a good experience with him) he went and turned the heat up 8 degree in the summer. My mom had chemo the day before and is clearly not doing well. On top of that he made it a point to complain about everything we did. I mean sitting on stools "wrong", sitting in empty seats "wrong", and "leaning" in the pool table which consisted of 2 fingers. Genuinely never felt so much hostility and rudeness from an owner. Not only that but we play slots every week and he accused us of somehow breaking a slot machine(not even possible). 10/10 would not recommend for anyone looking for a good time or good drink unless you goto the single good bartender( the one with tattoos or glasses who's only working Thursdays)

And I'm SO glad we did!!! We've now been back several times. Each time it's been everything we hoped that other visit would be and more. This time everything was just as we remembered from back in the 70's when we lived near another location - only even better! The onion rings are so good - just as they used to be! A few years back, we couldn't say the same. The person I've been with has tried a BBQ sandwich and a classic Coney Dog. Both were delicious! I was pleasantly surprised to find they carry both an Impossible burger AND an Impossible chicken sandwich. I opted for the chicken and added lettuce, tomato and special sauce. Omg! Soooo good!!!! Perfectly crispy breading on the outside, perfectly done inside and a flavor bomb on a soft bun. I'm so appreciative that they offer two solid entree options for someone not wanting meat. All of our orders have been freshly made and of great quality. I think this might be the summer of us making it through the entire menu. We've done root beer and root beer floats. Im not a root beer person - but Dog 'n Suds root beer is different and love that it's the same it always was. I love that they still have the original classics from the original Dog 'n Suds days - and that they brought back the magic in those options. But they've also expanded their menu with a bunch of great new options and that's fabulous (looking at you next, Dole soft serve!) The place looks freshly painted and everything is in great condition. We've been opting for eating in the car with the tray on the window like back in the day - but they have lovely tables in great condition set up too. The entire place is so clean too. Service has been wonderful - attentive and friendly. And who can't smile with some oldies to bop along to. Did I just say 'bop"? See? That nostalgia is creeping back in. Something old. Something new.
