Came to Juan's chuck wagon for breakfast with a group of coworkers . They offer plenty of free parking. When you first walk in, there is a big room (as pictured). It wasn't being used. I think you can rent it out and have a party. The diner area also offered plenty of seating from booths, regular tables and bar seating . Our group of 5 sat at the bar area. They cook most of the food on a flat top right in front of us. It was amazing how fast and efficient. I ordered chilaquiles verdes o rojos with skit steak and rice and beans. I've only had chilaquiles one other time and it wasn't the that good. These were so good so much flavor and chips with still crunchy. Steak wasn't over cooked . Definitely would order again. The rice and beans taste like they were homemade. Service was great from our waitress to the food coming out pretty quick for the size of our party . Highly recommended. read more

Got a tip from Big Ed, a local bbq business, that this is a must try spot. I really enjoyed my first visit with the country skillet. When you smother anything with sausage gravy I'm going to try it. I always rank it for future visits with how much I enjoyed their biscuits and sausage gravy. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to make a return trip for more of their menu. Lots of Mexican food too. Stopped in today for my favorite breakfast. The parking lot was empty but for a cars. The restaurant was empty but for a few tables. I had wondered WHY. Ten it dawned on me that it was due to the immigration crack down. Waukegan is largely Hispanic and all the raids have impacted this restaurant and the income of the employees here. I blame Biden for this. His abuse of a wide open boarder has caused the drastic auction by the current President. Food was fantastic! read more

Waited almost an hour for our food before anyone even noticed, did not tell us why it took so long or own up to their mistake, did not offer a discount or anything. Used to be our favorite place but we will not be back. It's okay to make mistakes but don't avoid it just own up to it and offer your guest something to apologize. Came here the past Saturday. It was beyond pack!!! Even though each table was filled, it didn't stop this place having such good customer service. Everyone that came to our table was so friendly. Food came out surprisingly fast. We both ordered the chilaquiles (a little bit to garlicky for my taste) & we split an order of biscuits and gravy. You try to support local businesses during a pandemic but both of my meals were horrible. Spanish steak that was so overcooked, its crispy. And a flat steak over cooked. After a while a waitress came over and gave us an up and down look and said we could seat ourselves. #strike1 After we tried to sit at a booth, however there was still glasses there, and no one even seemed concerned that we wanted to see in a booth, much less that we were in there. #strike2 So we decided to sit at the bar and order some food. Worst service ever. I won't say worst just our waitress. The other servers tried their best to fix her mess up. The food was sub par and when a complaint was made the waitress said that is the way it is made. I ordered a gyro omelet and it was dry, seemed to be over cooked. Best Chilaquiles in Waukegan HANDS DOWN! either green or red this is my go to for a Mexican breakfast w/some sunny side eggs. They tend to be spicy which I LOVE so check with the staff which ones are spicier if you don't like spicy food. Sometimes green ones are spicier than the red ones so double check. The lower rating is not related to the restaurant food or staff, rather for a couple of the patrons who were parents. It was a case of "kids gone wild.". Screaming repeatedly just because, at you, at each other... Knocking and banging on the walls and bathroom doors, running around... Unbelievable that the parents just let it go on. The server talked to them about it, but they didn't care that their children were disrupting everyone's experience. The table of police officers sitting next to me commented on it, also. Apparently this is very common for this location. Very unfortunate, because it seems like a cool little neighborhood diner.
