Welcome back, Full Moon Diner! We stopped by this week after hearing Full Moon Diner officially reopened following renovations! Loved the diner atmosphere it has the classic retro feel, and if you're anything like me, you'll find yourself wandering around checking out all the little details, which I encourage you to walk around and look at everything! One of my favorite parts was the family photo wall (I didn't post it so you can walk around and find it!) We love family owned restaurants and for me, supporting local businesses will always beat a chain restaurant. As usual, we ended up chatting with everyone we met. The staff were friendly and welcoming, walk right in and seat yourself! For food, we asked our server what was popular and went with her recommendations. My mom ordered the 2 egg breakfast combo with ham. First of all, that ham was HUGE! We requested extra crispy hash browns, and they came out absolutely perfect. I was told the burgers were one of their most popular items, so I ordered the burger combo. No complaints whatsoever other than being completely stuffed. The burger was delicious and cooked just right! And because apparently we had no self-control, we also ordered the loaded fries. That sauce was incredible and definitely worth trying. The food, the staff, the prices and ambiance were all great! added bonus for me is it's right down the road and convenient! Plus, I even managed to get a cute group photo with the staff before we left they had no issue taking a selfie with me We'll definitely be back. Welcome back to Full Moon Diner! read more

Many improvements and on the road to a hopeful recovery. Cleaner, brighter, new dishes and silverware, and best of all, the food is good again. And they now offer cole slaw and it was yummy. I only wish they could now get a good tasting coffee. read more

Talk about disappointing. I grew up in the area and this was always a reliable go to for good value satisfying diner food. Families would line up on the weekend, motorcycle people would congregate in the parking lot. At night high schoolers would go there for late dinner because pretty much everything else was closed. Before going a month ago, the last time I was there was probably 15 years ago. 15 years ago it was pretty similar to the old place. I brought my wife here to show her the old haunts a month ago. It was like stepping into alternative 1985, a la back to the future, in that everything has turned depressing and shitty. Clearly no money has been invested in the place. The exterior and the signage is dilapidated. The booths are greasy and slashed by what was probably a knife or knives (who knows?). The ceiling looks like it leaks when it rains. Half the seating is gone and occupied by a really depressing looking slot machine section. The staff, though friendly nice people, seemed to be a skeleton crew. The food was pretty bad. It's sad. It seemed like what was once a thriving and probably profitable business customers enjoyed is long gone. read more

This was my family's go to place when I was younger. Decided to stop by again recently and it has gone downhill from the last time to was here a few years back. It needs some renovations done. The ceiling was falling apart and most booths had tape on them holding it together. They redid their back section to turn it into a gaming area. There was only one waitress and one cooked when we went but it wasn't too busy. Our server has been there for the longest time I recognized her when we use to be more frequent visitors. She is very friendly and makes sure to check on you. The food was just okay. We got the mozzeralla sticks to start which were decent. Nice cheese pull. We ordered the broasted chicken and potatoes which takes longer to cook which is fine but it was not as crispy as it usually is and the portion size went down. I ordered a taco asked with chicken and no chili but there was still the chili on it. It's just not what it used to be. read more

Really enjoyed my breakfast here! I got the breakfast has with scrambled eggs and two pancakes with blueberries and whipped cream on top. Everything was very delicious. And flab. Full service was great. Would definitely recommend. read more

Stools missing seats. Noticably unhappy waitstaff. Food not as good as it used to be. They were 'out of' my first 2 menu choices. Being in there feels like you are witnessing a long slow death. read more

Came here for Sons bootcamp graduation saw this place was open. Place was accommodating, fast great service and the food was amazing.

Came here with family for the first time and maybe it was my fault for choosing the booth to seat at, but the table had sticky residue, garbage from the last customers, and their A/C fan keeping dripping all over our table and food. As far as food, we couldn't enjoy our soups before our entrees because we were never served utensils and of what we could try, it came lukewarm. I had a regular burger with fries and unfortunately everything tasted very dry. But despite never being checked up on by waitress, service was friendly. read more

This place is disgusting. So dirty that I didn't order food and only stayed for my coffee because I didn't want to be rude. Floors were dirty and sticky and littered with food scraps. Grime on everything. Duct tape on booths. There's no way this place isn't infested with rats and roaches. In fact, there was a LITERAL BIRD stuck in the building and flying over everyone. Parts of the ceiling looked like it was going to cave in. There's a room for gambling??? I can't warn you enough not to go here. read more

after many visits over the years....I'm done. pretty empty of customers was the first sign things have changed at Full Moon. the second thing is the heat was off in over half the place. they had that part closed off and we were shown to the last booth before the closed Siberia section. the seat upholstery was torn worse than my high school friend's 63 Bonneville. coffee was brought over quickly but the place was cold! maybe 5 other booths were either ordering or waiting for the food. it appeared that there was only one worker in the kitchen and he was pretty overwhelmed. the signs were not looking good that we would get a quick lunch so we decided to pay for the coffee (half cup left), leave and warm up in the car. the very nice server apologized and gave us the check. we asked could we have our coffees to go. sure. well, at the register the lady wanted to charge us more for "to go" coffee which we refused. so- two 1/2 cups of coffee for $7. I'm sure there's a lesson here about what can happen to a restaurant when it starts to go down hill. hopefully they will get it together and bring Full Moon back to its former bustling glory. read more

server was forgetful and didnt really seem like he worked there. Server was nice enough but I just felt confused the whole time. my water cup was dirty. I got the biscuits and gravy and was far from impressed. Very unclean restaurant. Has rats and mice running around inside. Not good for a place serving food.

Been coming to restaurant for years/decades and it's not the same anymore. The prices have gone up and their services has gone down. Takes a while to get your food even when the place isn't busy. Order the dinner special, they forgot to bring out the soup, which was overly salty, no big deal. The server mentioned that they only offer soup to only the dinner specials. The spaghetti sauce was way too sweet. The rest of the food was ok, the servings are smaller. Kindly told the server of my experience, she didn't seem to care. Used to come here and hoo boy has it tanked. From wild animals inside to mold and rot everywhere, it's not doing well. When you walk in you see a giant black square over the word "Family" in "Full Moon Family Restaurant" as if it's been redacted. Guessing this is because of the low-end gambling they now offer in the back. We tried to get food but the filth on the floor, the collapsing and stained/rotted ceiling, and the patrons near us spending their time to help the wildlife escape the dining area through a boarded up door they forced open turned us off to eating. The server was very nice and very exhausted, complaining that she didn't have the help she needed. I'm baffled how they pass ANY kind of health inspection given the animals inside and the mold and general filthy conditions. Sadly, would not recommend unless you've gotten all your booster shots and feel like having a city wildlife safari adventure. read more

We went here primarily because it was open late and we were all tired of eating fast so they don't close the restaurant on us. We had a terrific waitress that actually had the entire restaurant on her own. She really was very attentive and good. I had broasted chicken that was really delicious. My husband had a francheezie which he loved. It was a big hot dog (not all beef) stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. Our friends ordered Chicken parmigiana and Greek chicken which got sent back (it was disgustingly overcooked) and she got the broasted chicken. All in all it was pretty good. Full Moon is a fairly typical Greek diner, similar in some respects to Golden Nugget or Huck Finn in Chicago. This is another place my high school buddies and I used to go when we drove up to Kenosha for go carting. You can't go wrong if you order breakfast, which is where they shine. Burgers and similar are pretty good too. Prices are pretty good for what you get, especially with inflation being what it is these days. read more

Food was not very good. "1/2 pound" was not nearly that. Chicken sandwich was frozen chicken strip on a bun, nothing else. And service was awful too. Asked for ranch, never got it. Ambiance was fine, quiet. read more

A coworker and I got lunch at FMFR, it really was the opposite of what I thought. Let me get into it! The food was pretty good. I like that there were many options for anyone who had dietary restrictions. I got the Gyro dinner. I have to say it was more than enough. The quality of the gyro was good. I do have to say the pita and the Tziki sauce were okay. The fries were surprisingly good though. Service, hands down for being a smaller mom and pop shop I want to say it was really nice! I like how our waitress was very attentive and checked in on us often given how busy it was at the shop. The atmosphere was like the older diners back in the day. I really miss those and this FMFR really brought that back the memories and being able to see how there were regulars here and how it seemed the staff knew everyone. Overall, I would say Full Moon Family Restaurant it worth a try. I know you will find something on the menu you will enjoy. read more

I have been a customer for 40+ years. I feel like family, the food is plentiful and delicious; I've never been disappointed. Spiro calls us by name, often sits down a few minutes to chat. I often get a hug hello and his staff is exceptional. There is plenty of seating and a comfortable atmosphere. I can recommend Full Moon and encourage everyone to stop in and enjoy any selection!! Large restaurant with plenty of parking and an expansive menu. Prices are very cheap and food comes out hot and in enormous portions with quick service. Decor is alright, about standard for what you'd expect from a family restaurant in the area. Normally this is the recipe for a 5 star review, but the food was so unremarkable -- even for the price -- that I could only give this 2 stars at best. Here were my thoughts on the different items I tried: Bread: Mostly tasteless and lacking in distinct texture. This can be dipped with the bread, but wasn't great as a standalone item. Chicken soup: Fairly flavorless broth with noodles, carrots, and chicken that were all cooked too soft. Cream of potato soup: Wasn't very creamy and there was a lack of extra flavoring elements to give this soup any real flavor. Salad: I like the mix of sliced tomatoes and cucumbers -- though the tomato wasn't very juicy, the cucumber didn't really have any crunch, and the lettuce wasn't really crispy. Given that you get both soup and salad for just $1 extra though, it's hard to complain. Broasted chicken: Fairly crispy, but mostly flavorless. This was cooked a little too much where the meat was a bit tough. Fries: Lightly crispy, went alright with the broasted chicken. Green beans: Cooked to an almost mushy level Country fried steak: Came out very hot but mostly tasteless and the breading wasn't really crispy either. The gravy was a bit thick but hardly had any flavor Mashed potatoes: Was alright with a bit of garlic and butter flavor, but the texture was more like a paste really than what you'd expect from mashed potatoes. Overall, the prices here are cheap and the restaurant is open 24 hours. But the food is very forgettable. I'd rather pay a few more dollars elsewhere for better food. read more

Stopped here on a drive back from Wisconsin to Chicago on vacation. Staff was friendly and prompt and food was good. We orders a kids meal for one of our kids and the waitress asked if they were sharing and we said no. Once the food came we understood the portions were huge! Happily, they also had fruits, watermelon, honey dew and cantaloupe on the plates that weren't mentioned on the menu. All of our meals were good, my husband loved the vegetable soup. read more

Wow! Don't go here! I saw the mixed reviews and thought maybe it was just because of these unprecedented times we are in so we tried it anyways. The lady helped us was too busy complaining how busy she was, like it was our fault we were there. The other 2 ladies looked like there service was ok. The food was bad, hash browns were burned. The dishes were dirty and the lady picking up the dishes was just throwing them in the bins... now I know why my cup was scratched up and cracked. The bathroom was unattended to as well.
