Donelli's Pub & Eatery - Bar Tender of the Year ! - American Near Me - Lake Bluff, Illinois

Oh wow, finally a dive bar with food as it should be- incredible! Slightly more divey than I'm used to but that's just because most places are new and not so tasty. Great service. They had the Daytona 500 on which I kind of like, it remindes me off my dad. read more

Great food. relaxing pub atmosphere. Felt like we were back in Wisconsin. Kelly, our server, was amazing. Will be back!

Donelli's is an enjoyable little local town pub. It gives a family vibe, where everybody knows your name. It's a low key type atmosphere where people can visit after work or to get out of the house. It has an atmosphere that gives the sense of having a home away from home feeling. It's a cash only type establishment with a convenience ATM machine on site. The staff is friendly and welcoming, providing a wonderful host attitude. Whether you want to go watch sports events or hangout with friends, this is a cozy little hide away in Lake Bluff. The food and beverages are good as well to top off the experience. read more

I just came in here for an appetizer and a beer after a round of golf at Lake Bluff GC. Seems like whenever I'm in this area I end up at The Silo. I was determined to check out this family owned joint, and it was just ok, but I'm glad I did and because I want to try the Famous Italian sausage patty sandwich that I couldn't get due to the grill hours (explained below). When I sat down at the huge U-shaped bar the bartender told me they just had a few items from the menu available. Their grill is only open till 3pm on Sat., Sun., and Monday then after that is the 'no grill menu' so I ended up with Chicken Tenders which were hot out of the fryer and priced right at $7. They were good and my bottle of Miller High Life was icy cold. Not sure why the kitchen keeps the hours that they do but for when they are open they have lunch specials on Tue, Wed and Fri. Then they have a much bigger menu including their Famous Italian Sausage patty sandwich from Poeta's, and a Combo, plus burgers, beefs, chicken and deli sandwiches, soups, salads wraps, pizza and appetizers. The pizzas may be the frozen ones that they add on ingredients too, because they offer two 9 inch and two 12 inch each starting as either a sausage or pepperoni then you can add bacon, GP, mushroom, onion or tomato. $1 each ingredient for the 9 inch and $2 each for the 12 inch. If their Famous Italian sandwich is really famous IMO I could up it a star. read more

Donelli's Pub & Eatery - Chicken tenders appetizer with blue cheese - American Near Me - Lake Bluff, Illinois

Was disappointed that Highwood sandwich was taken off the menu. We ordered the Italian beef instead. One of the very BEST we've ever had. The key was the sweet peppers had been roasted. DELICIOUS!!! Ugh. Actually this review was for Donati's Pizza in Lake Bluff. Not Donelli's (like them as well). Sorry read more

What's not to like? Good food, excellent burgers and tasty drinks set in a nice Al fresco patio. Try this place for sure!

Had the buffalo chicken wrap. It was not very good because it was a wrap with a lot of lettuce, some shredded chicken and a bunch of Red Hot Buffalo chicken sauce. Friend had the cod which was actually pretty good. Small place, people just come here to drink Coors, I think. read more

The Italian beef with giardiniera and fries was great, I had the had cut fries with it and was ready to drink the Au Jus sauce right out of the bowl. Cold beer, cheap pitcher's, fun staff. Winner winner! Travis read more

We were visiting from out of town, staying in a hotel and popped in for some take-out. We had no idea what to expect but the food was exceptional and the staff was friendly with great recommendations! read more

Best locals bar in the area for cheap drinks, sports, real and down to earth people , very casual. LATE NIGHT MENU! Great music on the digital jukebox, and a dartboard. One big room so not a bad seat in the house to chat with others. WHY 5 STARS? This place accomplishes what it was designed to do with flying colors! It's a traditional old school neighborhood bar that sheds it's divey flair by being extra clean. The bartender was hustling and working a packed room solo - not an empty glass in the room! Very hard working gal and I was impressed. Hard to find a bite in the area after 10 pm. Options are limited to the deep fryer but don't despair! BUFFALO WINGS were crispy spicy delicious with blue cheese. CRINKLE CUT CHEESE FRIES hit the spot with a sizable portion for sharing and a big ole' bowl of hot cheese sauce. I'll be back when the mood strikes read more

Donelli's, even after SO many years, continues to impress. Today I brought a group of 18 adults (and a few pooches) for lunch after our 3-mile walk at nearby Old School Forest Preserve. We pushed 3 picnic tables together on their sunny, enclosed patio and, unprompted, they immediately provided a big beer bucket full of cold water for our canine companions. Our drinks were promptly served, along with multiple pitchers of ice water...then our many and varied food orders began to arrive. Absolutely everyone loved the food, service, atmosphere and, above all, the cheerful, friendly and mega-competent staff. Even getting all separate checks was cool with them! Donelli's Pub makes their own super crispy homemade chips (aaahhhhhh!), which are included with most everything, as well as very good cole slaw and what we think are homemade cucumber pickles. Prices are very affordable, and I got to take home half of my deelish grilled Tuna Melt on whole wheat with tomato and melted cheddar. Bottom line...whether you are just passing through, looking for a hearty meal, or a place to watch the game AND eat, Donelli's Pub rocks. Will try to upload fotos of our killer food. Enjoy! read more

Is handleability even a word. Back again and the burgers seem to have gotten even better. I'm sticking with the bacon cheese burger but wow makes the new guy across the road seem paltry and insipid. A classic American pub with a surprise, love it. read more

A very small bar where one can watch the game or TV while eating .Nothing special and it beats does beat a Panda Express or Potbelly. A small bar with basic Grubb whose menu was limited on choice. Good to see dive bar still exists in this bankers CEO area read more

Cheese burgers were yummy - the bun far superior to most places! French fries were just okay. The BBQ Pork not worthy (but again, great roll). Onion rings were thin & crunchy - battered to perfection. Their sweet potato fries which were part of the BBQ pork special were the BEST I've EVER had anywhere, hands down. read more

What a great place! Service was great! Marybeth was very attentive and kind. Great family owned business will be back for sure. The pizza is the best read more

Best chili I've had in a Long time, the burgers were awesome and the service was great. My son just graduated from the Navy basics this weekend and we stopped in for a quick bite with him before we flew home. Will definitely be back to eat there when I come visit again. The waitress thanked him for his service and someone at the bar picked up our tab, I was in tears. Thank you!! read more

Had a horrible experience here. I walked in with my fiancé and ordered an Italian Beef, and found hair in both the beef and chips. It was long, stringy, blonde hair and my hair is black. I spoke to the server and she went back into the kitchen and spoke to the staff, but that compleatly ruined our experience. The only reason why I'm giving this two stars is because the service was nice, but the food was trash. We Ubered there thinking that we would spend hours hanging out, but left after 30 minutes. Really disappointed because this place is close to home and we had high hopes. Check your food for multiple pieces of hair before you eat it, I still can't get the texture/taste out of my mouth read more

Arguably the best place for a good time. Attentive bartenders and servers, excellent homemade meals at a reasonable price. Neighborhood bar feel, where everyone feels like family. You can't go wrong with the daily $2.50 domestic pints! Drop on in! read more

Placed a to go order only took 10 minutes. Cheeseburger was decent and so was the chicken sandwich. The seasoned fries were pretty good. Will order again and try more. read more

Just....a really good place. Above average burger but not legendary. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Morgan was pulling the taps and taking the scribe for orders and drinks...and she was awesome. Stern and inviting but a strong personality that made it more of a community atmosphere than just a "tip me" persona. I was on lunch for work so it was H2O all the way but I'm putting it on the list to belly up because the patrons were friendly and a perfect place to "cheers" all my new friends . Not quite a Homer, Barney, and Moe dive bar but the kind of dive bar that you make a destination for great bar stool talk with true people. Look forward to having a few pints here in the future! read more

5 goddamn stars. This place is kinda crappy but it hooks it up. Bartenders work their ass off to make sure you're a happy lad with food or drinks. I wish I could one day manage a place like this one. Solid deals. Solid bartenders. Solid food. Solid snake. 5 goddamn stars. read more

Love this place and the Staff/Owner are amazing! Food is great and the patrons are amazing!

Horrible. I walked in to a bar full of people that turned and stared when we got there. Everyone seemed very intoxicated as well. Then we sat and waited at a booth for at least 20 mins where we were never even acknowledged. Needless to say eventually we left without ever even being asked if we wanted to order anything (food or beverage). Very disappointing since I prefer to support local businesses and heard they had good food. Not worth it. read more
