Chief's is a great local pub. Decor is traditional sports themed but it doesn't feel like a sports bar. Much more like a community pub where family's can take their kids and where folks go for happy hour. Food was great! I'm so sad they took away the tot nachos -- totchos. However, the pretzel bites were so good -- somehow fried? I had a delicious fried shrimp bowl, and another friend raved about the All You Can Eat Fish Fry (they got about 3 pieces of fish and I saw them get 3 more!). My other friends had the sliders and salmon. Always a great and fun option, but bring back the totchos! read more

New to the neighborhood I was told to check out Chiefs. We popped in during the day on a Saturday to take advantage of their 1/2 off pizza special. We sat at the picnic tables outside since it was a lovely day. We decided to switch it up on our usual toppings and opted for chicken, artichoke hearts and sun dried tomatoes. They were apparently out of sun dried tomatoes but offered grape tomatoes instead. When the pizza came out, it was better than I expected it would be. The grape tomatoes had even been bursted. It was delicious and I would totally order it again. Washed it all down with a double sized foggy geezer and life is good. We hope to visit again soon to explore more. Never should a child be allowed behind a bar where drinks and food is served. Seems the bar owners 4 year old and there other kids have run of the place with no supervision from anyone working there. One of the owners 4 year old kid was running behind the bar sticking his hands into what ever they found and grabbing the drink dispenser trying to figure how it works. Throwing dirty toys onto the bar, all the time nobody working there including the owners seemed to care. My party was trying to be nice and left the brand new bar tender a nice tip but we will not be back until the owners wise up. read more

We happened to be near the Lake Forrest area on a Saturday afternoon. We decided to stop here for some small bites. Honestly not too many appetizer options. My daughter ordered their 3 Alarm Burger substitute with beyond patty. My wife and I shared their Nachos. And I of course have to have a Zombie Dust, probably the best beer these days. My daughter enjoyed her burger with fresh jalapeños and spicy sauce. The nachos were over powering with their cheese sauce which was too salty. I had to pass after few bites. The service was great! First time coming to this place. Needed a new place and discovered this place. The pub was located on a plaza in downtown lake forest. I was familiar with the area cause I've been to the breakfast place couple doors down. Got a table pretty quickly. It was busy for a Friday night but wasn't too bad. I ordered the patty melt which was so good. It comes with fries, slaw, and pickles. My favorite was the drink. I ordered the strawberry peach sangria. It was so good, I had to get a 2nd! Basic looking sports bar that's about as casual as it gets in Lake Forest. It's also one of the more affordable restaurants. Chief's Pub has a sort of firefighter theme going on, along with being a sports bar. Lots of local beers on tap as well as liquor. The food has typical pub grub but there's also better options. After getting off the train, we headed here. It's located on the southern end of downtown in a plaza. The place was pretty crowded, which was a good sign. Bar was too crowded. We instead were able to get a table. It's about $12 or more for most liquors. They have a lot to choose from, including a few specials. A seasonal drink was the Cinnamon Bourbon Old Fashioned. This was made with apple cider, bitters, cinnamon, Maker's Mark, and maple syrup. Had a spice to it. The food options were limited for us. Each of us got a Beyond Burger. It's about $13 and comes with a side. It turned out to not actually be a Beyond Burger, but some other plant based burger. That of a lower quality. Even so, it was okay. The prices weren't that good for all this. Good place if looking around this fancy ass suburb for a sports bar. It's kind of expensive but cheaper than most places. There's mostly the basic bar food such as burgers and wings, but there's a few things for vegetarians. read more

Chiefs pub is one of the best places in Lake Forest to watch football. They have a ton of TVs and large ones, the garage doors that open to the outside and really friendly people. I stopped on June 2024 with my family. Immediately as I walked in I can sense the inconvenience my family & I have caused them by stopping by for lunch. The floor is ran by young people who either graduated high school or dropped out of college and not a "hello" or " how can we assist" greeting, customer service is defiantly poor considering it's lake forest. Food was good, not spectular but I would eat it again. The waitress was horrible, never came by to ask how my food was or my family's or to ask for a refill on a drink, defiantly poor customer service considering this is a local Lake Forest restaurant. I also hope they were on their diversity & inclusion because they definitely need to treat people equally and provide the same level of service as they do with their caucasians customers. read more

On a busy Friday night, after we watched our boys advance to the next round in soccer, we found this local pub -CHIEFS - where we went to grab a meal and some drinks. While there, the bus our boys were on hit a bridge- no-one was injured. However, 34 boys that hadn't eaten since breakfast were stuck! Without hesitation, Joe, the owner sprung into action! Chief's Pub is it nice, local place for a beer and a bite with your buddies. It's nothing special and has a bit of a standard, new era bar vibe even though it's been around probably 20 years but it hits the spot in customer service has always been outstanding. There's always a booth available and often a high top or spot at the bar. Customer service is quick both of the tables in the bar, and always polite and professional and friendly. The food is decent although nothing special. It is presented nicely and does the job. I've always wished portions would be bigger. Prices at Chief's are reasonable. The reason why I give 1 star for this place is because the owners Joe and Jenna are rude and snobby to customers and their own employees.They charge so much for their food and it comes out thrown onto a plate completely half assed. Cocktails are not that good either for their expensive prices. A couple of the times that I have been their the owners are trashed at the bar while their employees are in distress. Our waiter was great and the food was good.....BUT! We were seated in the back near the gaming machines, which the kids were not playing, and it was like a free for all! Three separate tables of children congregated in this corner, there were nine unsupervised under the age of eight, literally screaming, running and climbing on equipment. Their parents were there to have fun and totally disregarded what the children were up to! I guess this is more a reflection on parenting skills, but something should be done! The wait staff is too young to deal with this issue and frankly are probably not paid enough to do so! My suggestion is get rid of machines and put in a couple of more booths--I doubt the parents would then totally ignore this obnoxious behavior? What do you think? read more

I've been to Chief's a few times, and most recently I watched the Super Bowl there. I've usually been pretty satisfied with what I've ordered when dining there. But my recent experience was a little subpar. I ordered the classic BLT, and I was a little unimpressed. I was hoping for a little more meat. Now I know a BLT is exactly that, a 'B'LT, so it's just bacon on there. But I was hoping for something a little more "meaty." And there was an unnecessary amount of lettuce. The atmosphere was good however, considering it was the Super Bowl, it wasn't crowded at all which was nice. I gave 4 stars because out of all the times I've eaten here, the recent visit was the first that wasn't as great as the rest. I'll still go back in the future because the staff is great and it's a great sports bar. read more

I spent a wonderful evening in the town of Lake Forest. Chief's is a great pub with fantastic bar food plus unique sandwiches. I met up with my friend's for a book signing. My friend was visiting from OH and the owner was nice enough to host her book signing. I had a Wedge Salad with fresh red cherry tomatoes and blue cheese crumbles. I topped this salad with medium rare steak strips and added Blue Cheese dressing. It was the perfect way to end my day. I split the chocolate chip cookie skillet. It came out piping hot topped with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious. This pub is a real find, prior to becoming Chief's it used to be a small pharmacy where the locals would pick up their prescriptions. It is tucked in the corner of a small strip mall that has an eye glasses place and Egg Harbor. I'll definitely be returning. The owner mentioned that he's opening up another restaurant in Lake Forest inside the old Burger King located downtown Lake Forest. The menu will contain items that can be found at a country club. There will also be 3 golf simulator's as well. I'm looking forward to trying his new place. read more

My family & I came last week for my son's graduation from the Navy, we were recommended this place but we shoulda ran away immediately when we were approached by an unfriendly server but we stuck it out! The food was ehh for the price definitely expected better. But what got my family very frustrated was when I took my daughter over to the "game" area and my server was telling I'm guessing which was another server that she won't go above and beyond for "my kind" because we don't tip!
