Went here for dinner since it was right across the street from Blue Shutters Inn where we were staying for the weekend. We called ahead to make reservations just an hour before. It was definitely crowded when we got there but they had several empty tables too. We got seated in the inner room by the window. They bring complimentary bread which came with a really nice flavored oil sauce. I wasn't too hungry so ordered the minestrone soup (bowl) and the wedge salad to share. The hubs ordered the penne sausage pasta and the Italian lemon drink. The soup was tasty rustic with veggies and a few beans. I expected the bowl size to be a bit larger. I ate it with the bread. The pasta was flavorful and was a pretty decent portion - had some leftovers. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu to share with- it was nice creamy. It's a nice restaurant with ample seating and cozy atmosphere. It had a very unique chandelier made of wine bottles. Overall good experience.

Started with apps, my octopus was very tender and delicious albeit a tad pricey for the portion $26. The mushroom pasta I found a tad bland. For the price of $31 it was a smidge disappointing. The item that will make me come back was their lemon cream cake. I could have had the app and the cake and been a happy girl. This place charges fine dining prices for a very casual atmosphere. My friend got the duck- she wasn't asked how to have it cooked. It came out well- not for me but she was fine with it. She enjoyed the apps (escargot) and the lemon blueberry crème brûlée- it had great flavor but it was coddled. I saw the texture was not silky smooth.

We love Ogunquit, but it can be a tricky spot for dinners. I guess that's the price of being a postcard-perfect coastal town in Maine? So when we find a place like The Front Yard, you'll hear us raving about it for a while. We made reservations based on other reviews, and since we were doing an Ogunquit staycation, it just made sense. So glad I listened to those five-star reviewers; we absolutely loved it. We were lucky to grab a patio table (not gonna lie, I don't know if I would've loved it quite as much without the al fresco vibe), and it was the perfect summer (spring?) dinner. We ordered a bottle of Riesling -- they have an extensive wine list, with some affordable options -- and it paired perfectly with our meal. For apps, we went with the burrata and squash dish and the fried calamari. Both were good, though the burrata could've used a bit more flavor. Definitely not the best I've had, but the entrées more than made up for it. My husband's pesto pistachio pasta, topped with burrata, was excellent, and like I said... I'm still dreaming about my mushroom pasta. Our server was super attentive, even though the place was a little busy. We really appreciated that. And PSA: don't even try to go on the weekend during peak months without a reservation. We saw folks getting turned away left and right!

Caffé Prego is an authentic Italian restaurant and caffé that opened in Ogunquit, Maine in June…read more2006. It was founded by restaurateurs and life partners Donato Tramuto and Jeff Porter. The partners have owned, operated and sold a number of restaurants in the Ogunquit area, including Five - O and the Inn on Shore Road. Caffé Prego, named after the couple's golden retriever who died in 2005, was their second restaurant to open. Initially they only served small plates such as panini, salads, desserts, gelato and coffee. When the partners saw a great demand for authentic Italian dishes, they decided to expand the menu to include pizza, traditional Italian entrees, wine, beer and craft cocktails. In 2021, Tramuto and Porter sold the restaurant to longtime employees and executive chefs Donovan Fraser and Zach Crosby. My extended family and I visited Caffé Prego this summer while we were on a week-long vacation in Maine. After spending the afternoon exploring Ogunquit, we set out to find a place for dinner. Unfortunately, we didn't have a reservation anywhere and a lot of the restaurants were packed. When we tried Caffé Prego, the staff told us that there would be a short wait but that they could accommodate us. For cocktails, I had an "Amarena Old Fashioned" (muddled Amarena cherry, orange bitters, bourbon, amaretto, soda) while my wife had a "Tuscan Sunset" (citrus vodka, blood orange liqueur, fresh lime, cranberry). For entrees, I had the "Tuscan Shrimp" (sautéed tiger shrimp, cherry tomatoes, limoncello butter sauce, basil parmesan, tagliatelle), my wife had the "Lobster Cannelloni" (Maine lobster, asparagus, ricotta, mozzarella, fresh pasta, marsala cream, shaved parmesan), our older son had the "Kids Tagliatelle with Meatballs & Marinara", and our younger son had the "Kids Tagliatelle with Butter". We all really enjoyed our food; our other family members enjoyed their dishes too! For dessert, my sons and I were in the mood for that really delicious-looking gelato that we saw in the display case. I had "Limoncello Sorbetto", my older son had "Cookies & Cream", and my younger son had "Chocolate". Between a beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff, and out-of-this-world food, my whole extended family had a memorable experience at Caffé Prego! We highly recommend them to visitors to Ogunquit!

Onto the pizzas...it is a mixed review. The toppings were excellent, plentiful, and tasty. The crust was not my favorite but my dinner companion liked it. I prefer more of a Neapolitan style crust and I believe it would complement the toppings. The crust was denser and flatter than I would hope. For drinks, another mixed review. My dinner companion had a sangria and liked it. Today, it was just an ice tea for me. It did not taste like fresh brewed tea (at least in the last few days). It was bitter. Being a cold and wet day, we ordered coffee after our lunch. It was served with milk on the side, versus cream. In fairness, the person who served it was not a wait staff member. Holding the tray she was shaking to the point that I actually grabbed it from her before she spilled it - so it could just have been her inexperience. I may give this place another shot - it was decent, just a few things that could improve as the season goes on!

First things first - parking is super easy, it's a free valet service (not obvious at first, as there is parking behind the restaurant, but you're greeted right away when you pull in). We walked through the bar area, over to the restaurant area (surprisingly the bar was quite full), and were able to choose a table by one of the two fireplaces. On the restaurant side, it feels very cozy, and homey, exactly where you want to spend a cold night, inside eating dinner. Our server was lovely, greeted us right away and provided menus. I started with a cosmo (they had flavored versions like strawberry, but I elected to go for the classic). For an appetizer, we started with the bacon wrapped scallops - the bacon was maple glazed, and wonderfully crispy, with the scallops cooked perfectly, and some micro-greens scattered on the plate - delicious. For entrees, my mom had the baked seafood stuffed haddock which came with a lobster sherry cream sauce, a massive pile of perfectly cooked green beans, and mashed potatoes (yum). I went with the duck special, which was absolutely delightful. It came with Brussels sprouts, and I subbed out the au gratin (I very strongly dislike sweet potatoes), for mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We were so full, we opted for dessert to go (chocolate cake), which was generously portioned, and decadently delicious. We really enjoyed the meal - this was a wonderful dinner to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday!

We started with scallops wrapped in bacon and their bread service. The butter was sweetened and the bread was great. The scallops with bacon were excellent. I chose the filet with a lobster tail, fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Everything was simply superb. Dress was casual and the place was clean. Not thinking they are accessible though as there were steps going in the two doors we used.
