We just love this place! Outstanding food for breakfast and lunch. Great pancakes and delicious creative benedicts. We just now had the eggplant sandwich and it was sublime. Perfectly cooked eggplant and delicious roasted red peppers. We have also had and loved the falafel supreme wrap. And what a bonus that the seating is on the boardwalk on the Petaluma River! Owner is as nice as can be. Oh, the chocolate chip cookie was homemade and fantastic! All around 5 stars. You will not be disappointed. read more

I really like River Front Cafe. The customer service is absolutely excellent and they are located on a really cool spot in Downtown Petaluma. They have a very large menu and serve breakfast and lunch all day long. I have tried a few different things on the menu now and it has been pretty good but nothing has really stood out as amazing. With that being said I still plan on coming back to this spot now and then to grab a bite to eat when I'm waiting for a movie to start. read more

4 people for lunch, indoors with the big patio doors open on a balmy day. Order at counter. Service fast. Other guests but not too busy. Price was okay for Greater Bay Area and Wine Country. Portions were large. Restrooms were in another part of a building hosting several other businesses. One good food was the turkey sandwich which was full of hand carved turkey breast. The other good food was a falafel salad. Fresh micro greens and 6 nice, large fluffy falafel, not dried out. 2 orders were so bad they were inedible (or we were sorry we ate even part of it).Not appetizing to look at. I had a falafel sandwich. It did not have the ingredients listed, but was stuffed full of day old potato chunks and other mystery leftovers, including possibly the falafel. I ate a few bites. It needed sauce and no leftovers. My friend had eggs Benedict with crab cake instead of ham. The dish was completely ruined by the garish yellow sauce, which quickly turned runny with small chunks of curdled sauce. The looks of that sauce will haunt my dreams. * You just cannot serve food that unpalatable and get ANY stars.* Lucky for you, no photo. It's on us that we didn't take them back and try something else or get a refund. I'd try one of the other nearby restaurants before giving this one another go. read more

Since my little one wanted a sandwich I figured my options would be limited our first time here. Boy was I wrong and So pleasantly surprised to see Mediterranean food on the menu. I had the beef shawarma plate and subbed out hummus for baba ganush. The shawarma was so tender and juice with grilled onion. The baba ganush delicious, and the rice was perfectly cooked and tasty. Huge portion for $12.95. My daughter loved her turkey sandwich and the fries were great! Service was 10/10- Will be back again. read more

Now my go to place for breakfast and lunch in Petaluma. It's my default place. It's my, "hey where should we go for lunch?" "I don't know, how about River Front Cafe?" You order at the counter, you eat in the very spacious indoor seating or their many picnic tables and cafe tables that look over the river. The Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken is so good and so big. Nice lettuce. Not wet iceberg. My coworkers and I have tried all the salads and they're all great. We've also been their for breakfast and the omelettes, pancakes, bagels and cream cheese are the best! You order at the counter. They give you a number and bring it to your table. You get your own coffee and water. The owner wonders around checking on you and making sure you're all good. It's great for kids for sure. Check this place out. I met a friend for lunch here. I ordered the crab cake benediction and hash browns. She had a crepe. My food came out way before hers and she asked about it twice. Friendly staff, nice and spacious eating area, nice deck ( with not enough umbrellas so we opted to sit in) food was mediocre at best. Pretty bland and crepe was greasy. Probably would not go back. Too many yummy places in Petaluma to give second try. Prices were fair, but when food isn't awesome it always feels over priced. read more

Very friendly people when you arrive. The setting outdoors along the river is charming. The menu looks exciting. The breakfast here is definitely the thing to order. We had a spinach crepe with a delicious salad. The Eggs Benedict is awesome. We would definitely pass on the Beef Shawarma wrap. It was very disappointing. It said thin slices of marinated beef.... Well it was poorly seasoned hamburger on a piece of dried lavash with tomato and unseasoned tahini sauce. Yuk! The fries are good. read more

I LOVE this place! I love that the owners are always there and so friendly. I love the Ambiance and being able to sit on the water. The food never disappoints! The home made falafels are to die for! But my all time favorite is the kale and apple salad with grilled chicken! Awful food. Frozen crab cakes, broken hollendaise sauce, eggs poached hard. Spongy waffle, canned blueberries in the pancakes , white lettuce on the crumbly greasy burger, the Shwarma wrap was in a lightly microwaved store bought lavash filled with a cucumber meat tomato and tahini mixture that was a runny slop. What an amazing find! Located right on the Petaluma River, this cafe has amazing food with a variety of offerings that will please everyone. A perfect place to enjoy with family members of all ages with seating options including outside on the large, riverside deck, to inside in a large, roomy dining area with views. The pace is unrushed and informal which makes it a great location to enjoy brunch, a whole meal, or just a dessert, beverage, or a glass of wine. Tables are large enough to accommodate a small group for informal celebrations. The latest incarnation of this dockside café is River Front Café. I've always love the ambience with the Riverview. We ate there the other night and it was a very pleasant experience. I ordered the hamburger which was very creatively compiled with hamburger lettuce pickle, beetroot, and with a bunch of french fries. There was nothing to complain about. read more

I held a 75 person party on the River deck outside the main facility. Everyone who attended, and I mean everyone, praised every aspect of the event. The setting, the buffet luncheon, and the service of our host/owner, Elias. This was a very special event for me as I was "Remembering Darlene, my wife of 54 years who recently passed. Elias met with me four times to ensure this event would go well. He followed trough on every detail and I could not have been more pleased. By the way, the food was superb. I love that this place was right on the river and had lots of outdoor seating. Great menu. I ordered a BLT with no avocado and cheddar cheese. When my order arrived it had no cheese and avocado. I sent it back and all they did was scrape off the avocado and added Swiss cheese. While it was still good it wasn't what I ordered. The fries were delicious. My kid did enjoy his egg and pancake. read more

We stumbled into River Front Cafe after an aborted attempt to try Wild Goat next door (2 hour wait? No thanks). We are so glad we found River Front Cafe. My wife, son, girl friend and I stopped in for lunch the day after Christmas at 2pm. They were slammed! The place was packed. The owner apologized that four employees had called in "sick" and they were doing their best but were a bit backed up. Our hostess, Maram was running as fast as she could to keep up delivering orders (as all wait staff bailed on them) and assuring impatient customers that they were doing the best they could. They offered drinks, I saw her give some baked goods to another table to ease the wait. All the while, Maram and her husband kept a smile on and worked their tails off. This is a great place. Good food and owners that really care about their customers. My wife and I go her often and it is always great! Fantastic baked goods. Please support this great place!!! read more

I've been there twice since they opened; once for breakfast and once for lunch. The Great Mill benediction was very good and the BLT sandwich was also delicious. Prices are good for the area and nice seating. Both times it was a bit of a wait for food but friendly staff. Nice, filling portions. For kids, mine loved the pancakes and eggs. My child was not a fan of the kid's pasta. It had some seasonings in it that an adult would appreciate, but not a typical kid. read more

The amazing food bumped this to a four. And it also explains the long wait and competition for tables that kept this from a five. We spend probably 45 minutes in line and then waiting for food. Do not come here if you're hungry or in a hurry. But the waterfront location is nice. Just make sure to get a table in the shade if you can. read more

This place has great location but the service is very very slooooow. Lunch will take a few hours. Their Mediterranean food was very bland and disappointing so stick with their salads and sandwiches. It's also pretty expensive for what you get. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Horrible Experience. My friends and I walked in only to be yelled at saying "we are closed" when walking in at 1 and we have called earlier and they said they closed at 3. Then we were rushed to pick something from 1 MENU. 1 MENU IN THE ENTIRE ESTABLISHMENT. Ordered our food and realized there were over 10 filled tables with no food. They happened to be out of my order so I asked for a refund but my friends food came out cold and nothing like they ordered. Rye ain't sourdough and Fries ain't house potatoes. Claimed "short of staff" but when walking outside one of the employees was on the phone and smoking. Disgrace to Petaluma. Y'all wish you were the Petaluma Pie Company. read more

After looking at several menus and choices downtown, we landed at River Front cafe. Wonderful luck! The food was SCRUMPTIOUS!! Our family had: Falafel wrap, Hamburger and Chicken Philly sandwich. Every single one of us kept saying how much we loved our food. It really was "that good"! All of it made from scratch, In house. The owners were an added bonus. I may have reviewed them before, but I have GOT to review them again. We've been coming here for at least three years now, and it is still our favorite restaurant. The staff are friendly and attentive, and they make dining a pleasure. Oh, but the food. The fooooooooood. Mmmm. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. (And no, that's not just a euphemism; I'm literally salivating right now.) The food is not just good; it is exceptional. Every item we order is better than the last. Their French Toast is so good, we can't order it anywhere else now. All other French Toasts fail to live up to the deliciousness and the truly heavenly dish they have at the River Front Cafe. I mean, yes, taste is subjective, and not everyone likes the same flavors (what a boring world if we all did, right?). But both my fiance and I love, love, love their food. Her taste buds come from the other side of the planet, and mine come from two states north of California, and both our taste buds dance for joy from the River Front Cafe's food. My husband and I had lunch there last Saturday. First hint, the restaurant had few customers - We really should have taken note of this but we were both starving and thought a salad and some fired calamari would hit the spot. The fried calamari consisted of about 5 burned tentacles and some large rings - they were very salty and tasted like they were right out of a box and the dipping sauce was a tasteless red something. I couldn't tell what it was supposed to be. The salad was also salty, and the salad dressing tasted like it was out of can or bottle. I asked for the blue cheese dressing thinking it might be better, but it had the same bottled taste. My husband asked one of the boys for water and was directed to go inside and get it himself. You have to pay before you get your food and because we always try to take care of wait staff, my left a tip. It cost us $60.00 for two horrible salads and disgusting calamari.
