At first, it was a great find, food portion was good and service was friendly and quick. Coffee was fresh, didn't taste burned. Here comes the bad part.......... I observed an employee come out of the kitchen and enter where the restrooms are located. I used the restroom, someone was in the toilet stall and heard the person exit and leave the restroom. I followed right after and saw the same employee speaking to the female server. Very sad because the employee did not wash his hands. I won't be back. If the owner reads this message, you can send me a message and I'll describe the employee with the day and time of my visit. (I don't want anything free) It's too bad. Quick stop on Petaluma for some brunch! Got seated as soon as we walked in. It took a while for our waitress to come by and take our order, but we weren't in too much of a rush. Felt very comfy in this diner and everyone felt welcoming. Got a stack of pancakes, eggs benny and the biscuits and gravy. I don't know WHAT they put in their pancake butter but it was delicious. The menus say this place is called the Breakfast Station. We came in early on the 4th of July and it was pretty quiet. Ordered the brioche french toast combo with sausage and eggs and the Sr. Pancake combo with an egg and sausage. A couple of standouts here- the orange butter and the sausage. We brought friends! Enjoyed for a second time a good meal here at the Brunch Station on a Sunday morning. Happy to know our friends really liked their food too. I opted this time for the grilled ham & cheese with their seasoned fries. Omg, their fries were really really good! Yeah, get the seasoned fries! We were offered coffee refills often and service was awesome. Our friends say they are returning with their adult children as well. My only non-positive mention is about the Women's restroom. It smells like strong sewer waste in there so I hope they can somehow remedy that soon. Smells awful, but at least the stalls looked clean. read more

When you first walk in, it has an old timey wood cabin feel. There is a lot of seating room, plenty for families and friends. We were seated promptly when we walked through the doors, our waitress was polite and attentive. My boyfriend ordered the BLT which he enjoyed, the veggies were fresh, and the bacon was crispy. It's always nice to have a sandwich that doesn't fall apart! I ordered the French dip, which I was nervous for because I am a meat texture snob... and I can gladly say this was one of the best French dips I've ever had! The French tip does not come with cheese so don't forget to add it, which is no biggie, but the spice that this sandwich had was mouthwatering! Great little breakfast and lunch place. It was not very busy on a Monday morning and we almost did not go in. We were glad that we did. Inside has a pioneer and logging theme which is very cozy. An OK review from me means the place does a reasonably adequate job, nothing extraordinarily good or bad. I ate here yesterday. Ordered the eggs benedict w/ hash browns. Got what I ordered, and it was adequate. I note my eggs benedict had no garnish on it as shown in the photos by another poster. I don't believe they even had any paprika or other spice sprinkled on top. They did, however, manage to poach the eggs "hard," which a lot of restaurants seem unable to fathom. Petaluma Brunch Station, for me, is a breakfast spot that struggles to match the quality of its food and competence of its service with an extraordinarily inferior setting. I had read about the opening of this restaurant last year, and have had it on my radar to visit. When I read in the Argus Courier that the owners also renowned favorite spot in Marin - Half Day Cafe, it definitely piqued my interest. I've had many a good breakfast at that location, so to find something remotely similar in my town sounds promising. In summary, I think the food is very good. I think the service is very good. And I think they try to create a place people would like to come and enjoy a delicious breakfast or brunch. My problem is in the restaurant itself. Physically. A message to these owners or any owners in similar situation: the condition of your physical setting greatly influences the experience of your patrons. Simply put, your food, team and service can be top-notch, but if I'm kind of disgusted by where I'm sitting and condition of the restaurant, it just doesn't work for me. It's not a simple "cleanliness" issue. Although I will say, I was disappointed at the conditions of the countertop that I sat at having a greasy surface and fingerprints from previous patrons, it's the unresolvable layer of unpleasantness that exists upon everything inside this dated interior. I'm all about a "greasy spoon" if that's where I'm intending to go. I get that certain places have that warm, inviting sense of comfort. This is not one of those places. I understand it was formally "Lumberjacks" years ago, a place that would not have been of interest to me to try. The log cabin motif could be charming and inviting if done tastefully. However -- everything inside this place is tired and worn out. The counters, the tables, the chairs. But honestly, what really did it for me and made it impossible for me to see past the physicality of my experience and how it affected being able to enjoy my otherwise tasty breakfast -- there is an extreme lack of attention to detail on things that are in fact controllable compared to the brick and mortar. The utensils provided on each table that I ate my omelette with were flimsy and such a low grade quality that this alone would prevent me from being interested in coming back. Would ownership kindly invest a small sum of money to purchase utensils that are usable? Honestly, it's like they've been using the same utensils for the past two incarnations of this restaurant at this location. And they may be! I have used plastic "to go" utensils that have been more durable and inviting to employ in dining. The same goes for the tacky frosted plastic cup used for my ice water. Would it be too much to ask to suggest that some actual glasses be purchased? Can we place more than a single tiny napkin at each place setting? If I seem to be over critical, and that perhaps this restaurant should be seen as a place for entry-level, breakfast, and brunch -- the pricing on the menu is what puts this restaurant in a completely different bracket. I have no problem spending the money on good food and service. I just don't want to be disgusted by where I'm sitting. I explored the website for this restaurant also and was floored that they suggest that this is a place that you would bring a wedding reception! Are you absolutely kidding me? The restroom had a commode that was out of service, when I paid for my mail at the register the touch screen was filthy, and I didn't even want to touch it to sign my check. It pains me to write a review like this, but my hope is that ownership and management will take heed some comments, and make an effort to raise their game. It would be unfair to not remark about the food. I ordered an omelette with four items, which was nice to have the option for. I was disappointed that I couldn't get spinach, for example. However, I got cheddar, bacon, mushrooms, scallions. This was a nice combination. The bacon was crispy and firm inside my omelette. The omelette was fluffy and not runny, a positive. It was the right combination of all ingredients. I had hashbrowns that were well done by my request, and they tasted good. I also had some wheat toast, which was fresh and buttered. The speed of the service was tremendously quick as well. I remarked to a friend of mine later, that I probably could not have made and served one faster myself! I was greeted by kind staff. The waitress was very kind and had a welcoming smile. Another review on Yelp for this establishment commented that perhaps it was people looking for Lumberjack's still that were disappointed and giving bad reviews. The site of this restaurant has been many different restaurants since I've lived in Petaluma. It took me awhile to actually try it now under its new name. I wish I had tried it sooner! The food is absolutely delicious. Very generous portions. (Too much for me. I always take half home) The chef makes fresh bread daily and they also sell it on site. The service is great! Fast service and very attentive all during our meal. Our waitress was so nice that we'll return not only for the great meal but for the friendly service! The parking is easy too! I wanted to update my review because it seems this place is getting a lot of flack from customers who used to come to the previous restaurant, Lumberjacks, and are unable to appreciate the new restaurant. The food my family ate was high quality and delish. Also I ordered coffee and it was poured and refilled for me there was no "self serve" coffee urns. I too had sourdough toast, as did my kid, and it was quite possibly the best sourdough toast I'd had. It's not the kid you get in a loaf from the store, definitely artisan. It's sad that some people want to ruin a business reputation with false statements seemingly because they miss the old place. I highly recommend you give this place a try. read more

Pretty typical bunch options. Very safe and lacks any sort of inspiration but decent quality. Pretty on par with a Buttercup or Black Bear. $4.50 to add cheese and bacon to my $15 burger seemed a bit excessive though. I don't remember going to lumberjacks but it's about what I would have expected from them. Right down to it being very lumberjacks themed with only the menu making it clear that its something else. It's a bit confusing actually because I think they are suggesting the word Station has to do with a train theme? But the new sign and logo is a farm? My husband and I were going to see a movie in Petaluma and decided to eat breakfast there. The place used to be called the Lumber Jack. It doesn't look like that they put in any changes in their deco, still had the saws and axes on the wall. Same tables and chairs but they added a couple of televisions with news instead of sports, ya! Looks like a family runs the place, the wife (?) was our server, the son, cleans the tables and gets you started on drinks. The husband delivers your food. The menu was all of their own. I had the chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns, and asked for them very crispy. My husband had the sourdough hamburger with fries. He said that the bread was delicious and finished everything. The chicken fried steak was big, crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. The eggs ( scrambled) were very fluffy and not dry. Came by here recently and was pleasantly surprised by my visit. I recall not long ago when this place was "Lumberjacks" and since the change, the internal aesthetics, as well as a majority of the menu items themselves, haven't changed much. That being said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? What they've decided to do was focus entirely on breakfast options, so much so that they close after 2 PM. This, for me, is a bit of a sour spot, as my work prevents me from being able to get here at that time most days of the week. Their menu, while smaller than before, has a decent variety of options, which I made sure to sample a decent amount of: Their pancakes are fluffy, but not the fluffiest I've had. The egg sandwich was on perfectly crispy sourdough, and the Wake Up Scramble was incredibly filling! Despite the excellent flavors and quick service, our party did have two items come out incorrectly, but the staff were incredibly quick to replace the items without incident or delay. All in all, I'd say this place is worth a visit if you've got the time on your hands. And if you're gonna get a Mimosa, I'd certainly recommend the Strawberry flavor. read more

Me & dad have been going to this location every father's day when it was still Lumberjack's. This year it got a rebrand, and this place seemed to have a quick fall from grace. The kitchen and restrooms looked tired, well overdue for a deep clean. The extent of the "rebrand" was a new sign out front, higher costs, and no real improvements to anything. Corporate seems like it's doing their darndest to squeeze the life out of the place. Everything I got in my benedict was different degrees of overcooked. Bacon? Intensely crispy. Muffin? Blackened. Egg? Rubbery with no runny yolk. Oddly enough, the hollandaise was the most watery I've ever seen. I do want to say, the staff is still good, as they always were. My family and I recently went to try Petaluma Brunch Station on a Saturday morning. I can't imagine that we'll be back. I was excited to see their menu included a tofu scramble, and that was my order. I'm a big tofu fan, and haven't ever previously had a tofu dish I didn't like... until I had this dish. It was the worst dish that I've probably ever had at a restaurant. The tofu clearly hadn't been drained, cooked, or seasoned. It was served with what seemed like canned vegetables. It was bland and soggy. It's a dish conceived by someone who doesn't eat tofu, and clearly cooked by someone who doesn't eat (or know how to cook/serve) tofu. Would strongly encourage others NOT to order this dish. My son got the kids pancakes and my husband also got pancakes with sausage. We also shared an order of hashbrowns. The pancakes were fine, the sausage tasted off, but the hashbrowns were perfectly crispy and delicious. I had never been to the previous restaurant here, but I imagine the decor hasn't changed at all. It reminds me of a Black Bear Diner with a more limited menu. Hands down the worst breakfast I have ever had! The food tasted awful, the kids scrambled egg was so small, I think it was a quail egg. When we were seated, the busser just handed a pile of silverware (fork, knife, spoon for 6 people) to my wife. The hollandaise sauce was sour. We just went there for Father's Day. It took such a long time to get a table and then to see the waitress. It wasn't even busy inside. Not good for kids. There's no fresh fruit. They put orange rind to the butter, my kid was so disappointed. She said it tasted bad. I got huevos rancheros for and it just cold tortillas with watery black beans and boiled tomato's with eggs. I stopped for breakfast after searching Apple Maps for "breakfast near me"; because the listing made it sound like my kind of place: a small cafe, with fresh coffee and traditional breakfast meals usually found in little roadside diners. Unfortunately, after ordering a 3 egg breakfast (over medium), with hash-browns (crispy), bacon and sourdough "toast"... I was severely disappointed. The eggs were fine, but the hash-browns were undercooked, the bacon burnt so badly it crumbled when I picked up a piece & the sourdough"toast" was so white, I doubt it was even NEAR a toaster or grill. I took a couple bites and simply left... chalking it up as a loss that won't be repeated. Even the "fresh coffee" was a joke, since it was actually "self-serve" and retrieved from the type of "pumped" coffee urns typically found in gas station/marts. I only took the time to write a review because I was disappointed enough that I felt others were entitled to hear of my experience before making a decision of where to eat locally. I will not be returning (and Yelp actually just notified me that it took down my original review), under the premise that: "it didn't look like your content depicted an experience at this location"...
