Had breakfast here and it was good. The lady who waited on us was very friendly and professional. She did talk very quickly and was just a bit difficult to understand but she got our orders right and made sure we weren't missing anything. The food was standard diner fare but still tasty and reasonable. A bit expensive for what it was but it's not easy getting a bargain anymore. It did come out quickly and was nice and hot. Nothing to complain about. The coffee was good too. Overall it's a nice place that's clean and has a good atmosphere. It's on the short list for breakfast places now. read more

We were in Petaluma on an early morning when we decided to swing by here for breakfast. I checked Yelp and online to make sure they were open and sure enough their hours lined up just when we would be arriving. When we got there, even though it said they were open, they were definitely closed and no one was there. We called a few times to make sure and then eventually called the other location where someone said that the restaurant should be open. We waited for a while and then finally the staff arrived. Needless to say, we were the only ones in the restaurant. I ordered the chili relleno omelette and he ordered the country hash benedict. I expected that the food would take a while because the restaurant was opening from a cold start, but weirdly enough our food was out really fast. I was a little bit off put by this but we tucked into our food anyway to give them a fair shot. My omelette was extremely bland and so were my potatoes. It came with salsa and desperately needed every drop. Hubby felt the same way about his breakfast, heavy and very bland... and ultimately we ended up taking everything to go and feeding it to our chickens. I felt like the price was really high for the low quality and the food flavor was really mediocre. Such a shame too because this is such a great location.... The old pongos? But unless they meet their quality with the price, I can't see this being very successful. read more

Since this place just opened up, we thought we would come check it out and we were seated rather quickly on this early Saturday morning, and Food was out within maybe 5 to 10 minutes of us placing our order. I was very surprised to see they had organic black coffee. I love organic items and I was really happy to drink some coffee, granted it was a little too dark for my liking, but I also like mild late coffees. Lol. Our server was brotherly, friendly and helpful. Since the menu literally had five pages worth of things, a lot of them were similar items with either egg or bread based things and a lot of different meat components. The environment was a very cute little diner spot and I liked their open counter bar and it looks like they would play sports games or even cooking shows since they were a couple TVs along the back. They had a really good open set up and I liked how all the tables could be reconfigured for bigger parties. We ordered the waffles with strawberries and French toast and they were pretty mediocre. I don't like putting syrup on my waffles or French toast so the bread on the French toast was rather plain, although I could see speckles of cinnamon remnants in it, but I don't believe the batter had any vanilla and the waffles were very plain and just crispy and soft, but literally had no flavor until you added the butter. Strawberries were fine, but nothing over the top so I'm not too sure if I'll come back here or not.... but I am picky and I like things to have a lot of flavor. read more

Came here today on a whim and was blown away with how good this was! This was one of the only places open after 3p that had breakfast food. We were seated immediately and the coffee and food came out super fast. I was so surprised by how GOOD the food was. The quality was so amazing and the portions were very large! So far so good at Sunshine Cafe, the few times that I've been here the food has been good (breakfast). I love an abuelita Mexican hot chocolate and they have it here plus I add an espresso shot, and it's really good!! Easy sun shining Monday morning, walking into a new local restaurant! It's wonderful to have a breakfast restaurant in Leghorn Marketplace. The staffs were giving warm welcome and came taking care of us right away! Orders were made fast and delicious! I ordered the Benedict that comes with fresh spinach, avocado, and tomato! The hollandaise sauce was cooked perfect, just smooth and not salty, it was a perfect blend for everything on the plate! The hash brown was crispy outside and delicious inside. I really appreciate to have a very health breakfast in Petaluma Sunshine Cafe ! My daughter and husband, we all finished our meals and walked out happily ! A friend and I where looking to find a new place for brunch and I remember seeing that Petaluma Sunshine Cafe was finally opened. So we ventured over to give it a try. We both thought it was just a place that only served breakfast, brunch and lunch but after glancing at the menu we figured out that they were also opened for dinner. You now that saying there's something for everyone? Well their menu holds true to that as it is very expansive! They list 8 types of eggs benedict on their menu and they all sound delicious! The one my friend got was the Divorced Country Fried Steak Benedict and it was a lot of food! Now I know you're wondering what is a Divorced Country Fried Steak Benedict, well the menu description says: "A home-made biscuit topped with chicken fried steak, two poached eggs, served with two conflict sauces both delicious! Half Hollandaise and Half Country Gravy." You also get a choice of hash browns, home-made potatoes or fresh fruit. It's a lot of food for $19.25! Unfortunately, I did not get a picture of my friends breakfast because she dove into it right away. I decided to order something under the "lighter fare" section called the Spinach Breakfast Burrito which consisted of spinach, jack cheese, hash browns and eggs on a spinach tortilla for $9.00, and then I added a side order of biscuits and gravy which consisted of 2 biscuits with gravy for $5.99. The breakfast burrito was very tasting and filling and I ended up taking half of it home. And I loved the biscuits and gravy! The atmosphere is inviting, the restaurant is clean, the food is good, the employees are nice and the pricing is good! It's in a strip mall so there's plenty of parking. Next time I'm going to come and try something from the lunch or dinner side of their menu. This is definitely a restaurant that everyone can find something they like. read more

Just had the breakfast Chilaquiles which took my 4 star I was going to give them to a 5 star! Chorizo fried slightly crunchy and flavorful (you could sub beef steak or chicken) but I think the spicy chorizo makes it! With scrambled eggs a little Cojita cheese and refried beans, and of course, fried corn tortilla pieces and a wonderful red sauce holding it all together and some cheese. Not too much cheese. Rich and hearty, and so delicious. I will have it again. Hubby enjoyed French toast combo with sausage -- very flavorful link sausage better than most, on a combo plate with eggs and potatoes! Prices reasonable. Service is excellent and friendly.. This is a family place and they serve you quickly and you can leave quickly if you need to. Absolutely delicious food!! We ordered the Sebastopol Cali Omelette and Fish and Chips. The fish was nice and crispy and the coleslaw was super fresh. The omelette might be the best omelette I've had in a while! The egg was so fluffy and there was plenty of chopped bacon inside and a perfectly ripe avocado on top. Call for hours, incorrect online. Place was unlocked, well lit up, and said open online... so safe to say it's open right? We just worked 12 hours, food was needed and who doesn't love breakfast for dinner? When we walked in two ladies stared at us but didn't say a word, we paused to take a look around the little restaurant eyeing the cleanliness and decor but all was quiet from the women who were there behind the counter so after the eye contact became awkward we asked if they were open we simply got a "nope".. uhhh okay thanks? So, I'm not a fan of giving negative reviews but I felt this needed to be addressed. On Father's Day my son and I took my husband to lunch. We initially went to 29er diner but they were pretty packed. We heard really great things about Sunshine Cafe so we decided to try it. They sat us really quickly and everyone was very pleasant. When our food came out they delivered my husband's and my son's food. Then I watched the waiter walk to a table that had people seated at and he picked up a plate of food. He walked back behind the counter and chatted with a few people then proceeded to walk towards us with that same plate and put the plate in front of me like he didn't just pick it up from another table. I was really shocked and sat there for about a minute. I told my husband what I just watched and he was shocked too. I went back to the counter and told the guy I just watched what he just did. He proceeded to tell me that the food was fine and they didn't touch it. Then I was told it was on the other table less than 5 minutes. I was feeling extremely uncomfortable. If it wasn't a big deal why not pick up the plate and bring it straight to my table? Instead he tried to hide it. And, that is my choice if I'm okay with that. Not his. Unfortunately, I am not going back there. It makes me wonder what else they'd be okay with. Something I've always told my children, if you have to hide what you are doing it's more than likely not a good idea to do it! Good food, good prices, quick & friendly staff... Have been in for breakfast or lunch several times. Lots of parking in a shopping center lot. Location has around 20 tables and I've never had to wait to be seated. Cute & clean dining room w/ espresso drinks available too I would call the cuisine "California elevated-diner fare" and everything I've ever tried here was great. The standout was a half-benedict/half-biscuit & gravy creation that was delicious. But I've also had waffles, pancakes, omelette and burger on other visits and each time I was pleased with my meal. I've been to their other location in Sebastopol before, but I am so glad they have come to Petaluma too. read more

We love this place. The food is great and the people very nice too. They have a breakfast sandwich that is off the hook. I love it so much but when we went in today a nice young man waiter (came in with a sparkling hat) he had so much cologne on that it actually ruined my meal. Every time he walked through the restaurant it lingered. We could literally tasted it. When you work with the public you should NOT wear that much cologne. We love this place but if that continues, we'll find another breakfast place. read more

I've been in twice now (at the request of others), and even though they don't have gluten free AND vegan options together, the waitress was very accommodating, checking to see if the veggie burger was GF (it was not) and she didn't know if the vegan chorizo was GF either. And no GF bread to offer. She was very apologetic and had the kitchen create a vegan "burrito" bowl, sans the tortilla. So when others say "something for everyone" - that's not entirely accurate. But the food was good - the menu is typical Denny's or Star's style. Nothing "different" and very heavy on the meat and dairy. I don't think I'll be back because there really isn't much for me to choose from, but the place is clean, the staff was very kind, and I would be willing to return if they make their menu a little more inclusive. read more

This is a cute cafe with good light and ample seating. We were immediately greeted by Guillermo who invited us to sit anywhere we liked. He quickly took our drinks order and gave out menus. He treated us to friendly banter through out our visit and was an absolute delight. DIL ordered the OJ and it was exceptional! Carmen took our order, said yes they could split the check then we ordered a sampler, strawberry and spinach salad, vegetarian sandwich, Ortega burger, regular burger, and Divorced Eggs Benedict. We did not have long to wait for all our meals to be brought out. Everything was excellent. Flavors were balanced, presentation was perfect, Carmen was attentive and solicitous but did not hover. Checked in with us a couple of times then left us to our visiting. We were never rushed or hurried along. We all had a great time with really good food and excellent service. I asked about their marzipan latte but ultimately ordered the Mexican , because of my sincere interest in the marzipan our server brought a mini one! While the food is great, the personable service is wonderful, as a nearby regular of this "establishment" I can attest that during normal dinner times they are open... I have to say um thoroughly disappointed with their inconsistent hours of operation. I had the recent occasion of TRYING to treat myself to breakfast before shipping at the center's Safeway only to find out completely dark and absolutely NO ONE AROUND. They say they open online and on the sign in the window at 7 am, but I showed up at 7:18, (I know because I checked my watch to make sure I wasn't early.) Understanding that stuff happens and people run late, I decided to do my grocery shopping before eating instead of the forehand planned of eating first. I can't back with my still painful knee and a with m Safeway worker pushing my cart for me at 7:49am arriving to a STILL DARK, UNOPENED, UNMANNED restaurant. Having walked down there on an extremely painful knee with all hopes of enjoying one of their tasty, warm meals and leaving pretty much immediately in an Uber with no breakfast really kinda ticked me off. read more

Picked up an order to go and I was really hoping the food was going to be of the caliber of the Sunshine Cafe in Sebastopol, sadly, it wasn't even close. I ordered a Ruben Sandwich and my wife got a BLT. The menu said my sandwich would be piled high with pastrami. Well, I guess that would depend if you were a human or an ant. The pastrami was about an 1/4 inch "High." Now for an ant, that's a mountain............for a human, not so much. Then came trying to bite through the meat. Yeah......that wasn't going to happen. It was so tough, I had to pull it out and cut it with a knife and put it back in the sandwich. Also, asked for my sauerkraut to be cold, nope, heated and soggy. The cold slaw was bland and flavorless, like someone put cheap mayo on cabbage, and nothing else. The BLT was dry and unmemorable as well. Asked for the bacon to be crispy and it was so under cooked, you could hold one end and it would just droop over. It looked so under cooked, we cooked it again at home. Too many places in the area doing a great job to waste money on an establishment that doesn't seem to care. read more

My boyfriend and I wanted to get breakfast out before a weekend day of chores and he found this place on Yelp. The restaurant was not that busy for 10am on a Saturday, which I originally felt skeptical about but was pleasantly surprised. We sat outside and the service was quick and right on time. The food was excellent. I got the sunshine scramble and my boyfriend got the two egg breakfast with the corned beef hash and the hash browns. The hash browns alone, we agreed, were worth the 5s LOL! What a sweet addition to Petaluma! Woke up hungry and wanting breakfast real bad at 3pm and found them on Google maps. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. It's a real chill environment with great music playing. They have a huge breakfast menu and I was stoked to get exactly what I wanted! Two eggs, sausage, and biscuits and gravy and it was delicious. Very Good Food. Excellent value. I've been here several times for breakfast or lunch and the food has been fresh and nicely prepared. No excess grease, and healthy ingredients. Last night I went to dinner with two friends. We were all very happy with our meals My friends loved their grilled shrimp and bacon cheeseburger. I was really impressed with my grilled salmon on a bed of vegetables. IT WAS DELICIOUS! (They cooked it well done which is my preference, but you could ask for medium.)
