Many fun groups meet here for community dinners. Interest groups can include Peace Corps Volunteers, Metal Workers, Programmers, Park Docents, Ex-Pats, Climate Professionals, and so many more. A rotating artist gallery is on the walls at all times. Live painting events have occurred countless times. The food is amazing. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I've enjoy countless sandwiches and desserts since I first moved here in 2005. My favorite is the Sonoma Smoked Duck panini--with Dijon mayo, caramelized onions, Gruyère cheese, and an organic mixed spring greens side salad. Absolutely delightful. read more

What the heck is this?! The most bland chicken enchilada casserole. All I taste is tortilla and fat chunks of dried chicken and melted cheese. No sauce, or extra sauce on the side. My work orders from this place almost weekly and the food is 1st never appetizing looking and 2nd not good at all. We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant while looking for vegetarian options in Petaluma. Aqus Cafe actually has two menus, with plenty of meat options as well. We chose to share a delicious Spinach Fig salad, with fresh spinach, goat cheese, tomatoes and pecans with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The Veggie Friday panini contained roasted asparagus, roasted sweet peppers, eggplant, portobello mushrooms, goat cheese and sun-dried tomato spread. Order at the counter, choose a table and the food is brought out very quickly. Folks at the counter were very nice. The beer and wine choices are excellent to complement the dishes. The night we were there the poetry club was also meeting . In addition there are other community events and live music on some evenings. I like aqus for its vibe but the food has really fallen from the days when it had value and taste. i got an artichoke quesadilla for $14.. and there was almost nothing in it. I won't go into details but the past several times ive been in there the portions are small and the dishes look like they've been thrown together. they dont seem to care anymore. read more

Aqus was hopping on a recent rainy weekday when we stopped in for a working lunch - there was a local writing group taking up the big table in the center (very cool!), and lots of other folks filling the inside tables. I may choose a quieter spot for getting work done in the future, but I'd definitely return for music and events. We tried the chicken pesto panini, which came with a side salad. The sandwich was substantial and tasty, and the greens were fresh. You order and pay at the counter, get a number and your food will be delivered to your table. Cute, cozy and community minded! My local Petaluma friend introduced us to it and we celebrated her big birthday there. Many of the dishes were great- fresh salads, amazing tuna melt, lovely teriyaki bowl. I would stay away from felafel wrap (best to get it at Mediterranean focused venues). Made a pit stop here, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good it was! We loved the aqus flat bread. We also got the aqus flatbread, Mediterranean flatbread, salmon nicoise salad, and smoked chicken flatbread. The aqus was my favorite. I thought it might be too rich, but the duck and gorgonzola were well balanced, and the duck was juicy. There are about 8-9 tables inside and approx 6 tables outside on a wraparound front facing porch. Walk in, scan the wide menu selection and place your order. You'll get a flag stem with a number on it which will put on your table tell the server find you when your food is ready. The trout salad and raisin nut salad are our favorite! First time today. Birthday lunch. Good food but not satisfied. Mixed greens come with sandwiches but NOT enough. Barely any greens tho the salad dressing and Reuben were delicious. Friends Aqus club barely had one tiny piece of bacon and that's one of the main ingredient. VERY disappointing. Carrot cake DELICIOUS. Overall, Pricey but generally good. I have to admit my wife isn't the greatest tipper sometimes, but is it worth losing a potential regular customer over a few cents?? Love this charming and artsy cafe in the art district of West Petaluma. Plenty of tables outdoors to enjoy your food or the cute interior as well. As a vegetarian I was quite impressed with the numerous choices on the menu to select from. I had the Nutty Salad which was scrumptious and had lots of goodies in it. Three of us arrived at 1:30 for lunch. We found a delightful little table outside on the dog friendly patio, with an umbrella. You can eat inside as well. When you get there, you have to go in and get your menu and come out to the patio table. Once you have chosen what you're eating, you have to go back inside to order. It was a challenge, deciding on what we wanted because the menu is truly huge, & unnecessarily so. I settled on the flatbread with a fig spread, brie, and what was supposed to be caramelized onions, but were basically tossed around in pan for a few seconds. They were still hard and crunchy. I had to pick the onions off, but it was still a delicious, phenomenal flatbread. We also ordered the Thai flatbread. Same situation with the red peppers that should've been blackened and cooked more. However, we loved the flavors. My husband ordered the Panini with roasted duck, and he also chose the side, Caesar salad too. Nothing special about the salad, no croutons or anchovies for example. The dressing was very flavorful though. The food was yummy, the atmosphere was pleasant. I particularly like the idea of not being in the bustling downtown area. I like being off the beaten track a bit. We will definitely come back, for sure. read more

I ordered a chicken panini and did not like it. Had a funky taste to it and the chicken was very dry. I asked if I could exchange it for something else on the menu and they made a big deal about it. I had to explain myself to two different employees and they went to ask their boss. The boss said that I could order something else off the menu half off. They did not offer a refund for the food. We've been frequenting Aqus for years. It's a funky low key cafe with counter service and indoor and outdoor dining. They always feature local artists' work on the walls. Aqus offers a good variety of vegetarian and vegan options. They also serve beer and wine. They have good coffee, pastries, breakfast burritos, bagels and egg dishes for breakfast. I tend to look a lot at the cleanliness of every place I go to eat. This place seemed clean until you looked up. The have an a area on the celaling (on top of the register) full of just decorations. They were very very very dusty. Looked like it was not cleaned in a very long time. This is an area of opportunity as the dust is very visible. Makes you wonder about the attention to detail. I ordered the aqus club sandwich, and it was quite probably the worst club i've ever had. Bread was toasted to the max, way too hard. Sandwich was super dry. The fixings ratio were way off.
