    Princess cake
    Tiffany D.

Asked for one of each cake, but cashier gave me 2 carrot cakes, chocolate and princess cake. I really wanted the coconut cake too on the day I came here and that was available. What a bummer. Other than that mishap, pretty solid pastry hole in the wall shop connected to the historical Hotel Petaluma. Princess cake is my go to cake for my birthdays. This one didn't disappoint. It was more on the subtle side and not too sweet. Dense chocolate cake for the chocolate lovers. I didn't like the carrot cake - not only because I had two slices of it, which didn't add to my mood, but also because it was too nutty and it didn't have enough umph of cinnamon spice and sweetness. The display of pastries, seemed pretty empty for a morning pop by visit here. I came at 930am on a Thursday and the display was a bit sad to look at. There wasn't a lot of choices to choose from compared to the Healdsburg shop. I guess it just mainly exists to serve the hotel guests. All in all, it serves its purpose here, but it lacks the magical wow factor that the Healdsburg of plenty of gourmet selections one has to offer.

Stopped into this sweet new location after an event next door at Barber Cellars. Cool that both locations open to the Hotel Petaluma lobby! This is a grab-and-go location offering beverages, pastries, breads, and a few Costeaux classics (at least what I'm used to seeing at the larger Healdsburg location: Nancy's Granola, Costeaux dog biscuits (my dogs love them!), and their special Wolf Coffee blend (made by another fab family in Healdsburg). I ordered an iced latte and loved it. Thanks Sierra for the quick and friendly service, and the delicious beverage! I'll definitely stop in again when I'm in the area.

I've been here several times since it opened and I'm glad that they are now open 7 days a week. Granted their weekday hours don't accomodate my schedule but that's what the weekends are for! I've had their breakfast burrito along with a cup of coffee which was great and Sunday I saw that they had a veggie breakfast burrito (that's on my radar for the next time I come in here), plus they have a breakfast sandwich, lots of pastries as well as light sandwiches on a soft baguette, pastries, goodies, princess cakes and more. Sunday my friend and I split an apple and brie sandwich that was on a soft baguette, a cookie and he had a specialty coffee while I had a bottle of water. The sandwich was light & yummy, and for only eating half it was more than enough to fill me up. The cookie was delicious. This location is different from their Healdsburg location as it is a cashless, grab-and-go location, so payment must be paid with debit or credit card (I believe they also take Apple Pay as I saw someone pay that way on this current trip) and there are no places to sit down. However, you are more then welcomed to take the stairs up into the hotel lobby (they are connect to the Hotel Petaluma) and eat & drink you what you purchased in the lob or in the hotel courtyard. You can also pre-order cakes & rolls and other items to pick up for parties, etc. Parking is on the side streets (no parking in the front), the free parking garage on Keller Street or paid parking at the Bank of America building.

Cheers to a great White Chocolate Mocha at Costeaux - Petaluma.

I'm saying "bonne nourriture" to the savory snacks and sweet treats coming out of Costeaux in Petaluma. Located on the ground floor of the Hotel Petaluma along Washington Street in the heart of downtown Petaluma, Costeux, with their fifth location the Costeaux empire just keeps growing and growing. A well renowned French American Bakery that has been around for over a century, yes that is one hundred years, in the heart of wine country in Healdsburg, although known by a number of different names, it became well-known as Costeaux over fifty years ago. Thanks to this legacy, they have grown from locations in Healdsburg to the Santa Rosa Airport. With this newest location taking over for a tattoo parlor of all things, Costeaux has seamlessly moved in for local fans looking for a quick snack or handcrafted coffee without having to sit down for a solid meal. Dining at their Healdsburg location in the past, I have wanted to visit Costeaux - Petaluma ever since they opened last year. Receiving rave reviews from town locals I knew I had to get here one day, and I managed to make it here while waiting for some of their neighbors to open up to enjoy a quick libation. Thankfully there is nothing better than a rich cup of coffee to warm you up and get your bearings. When a friend and I entered they were not super busy as the line and service was rather smooth despite there being only one barista/ associate in the shop while we were there. They have a beautiful glass case featuring a number of their pre-made savory snacks such as burrito, quiches, croissants, pasta salads and even deviled eggs. Since they were so elongated and they we ordered their Apple and Brie Baguette Sandwich. We also wanted a beverage to enjoy, so I saw on their menu that they use Wolf Coffee, which is produced locally in Geyserville, so I ordered their White Chocolate Mocha, and my friend a bottle of Aqua Panna water. Our barista was nice enough to ask if we wanted our sandwich toasted of which we said yes, and as it was being toasted I noticed they had crinkle cut cookies, so I ordered that for our meal as well. Our total bill was under twenty dollars, which was reasonable for such a hearty and quick brunch. Once we had our impromptu brunch meal in hand we decided to walk through their back door which leads to the lobby of the Hotel Petaluma. We found two comfortable seats and sipped on our beverages, which mine was warm and creamy, and split our Apple and Brie sandwich. It was a crumbly warm savory treat that we so needed to get our day started. We enjoyed our cookie for good measure but it wasn't as soft or chewy as we expected. I am so happy that Costeaux has opened their fifth location in a city that not only needs them but appreciates them like Petaluma. My only wish was that the storefront was larger with a kitchen so that they could be open to serve brunch and lunch to eager customers. Nonetheless, we have a place to buy a picnic basket filled with both savory and sweet treats. I can imagine myself picking up chocolate-filled croissants, cookies, a yogurt and a slice of chocolate cake, which they were offering for a complimentary sample for all of their patrons to enjoy, and head next door to Barber Cellars for a bottle of Rosé and head to the Marin coast for a truly memorable experience. May Costeaux's legacy continue to grow and thrive with this location and additional locations in the future!

Veggie breakfast burrito and Cortado (seated inside the hotel)

(this review is written by my wife) Okay, to keep this somewhat shorter than my usual reviews, if you live here or like us we're just on your way to a local attraction like say Dillion Beach, then stop here at all costs because you are going to be getting amazing food and service here. The owners here exude warmth and pride for their craft and for very good reason as absolutely everything here we tried was just delicious goodness. Of all the yummy things we tried (Parisian, Apple & Brie, banana nut muffin, home-pressed OJ, etc well one thing really stood out and it was the most surprising coming from a French bakery, namely their breakfast burritos. Oh my goodness, this was a burrito unlike any we've had (both the veggie and the chorizo one)...firstly getting it warmed up reveled this wasn't an ordinary tortillas at all but some kind of pastry like sheet that resembled one; the taste and texture though, unreal and instantly made me sad this wasn't a standard everywhere! The eggs were very high quality with a delicious cheese surrounding them and the most welcome surprise was the potatoes inside being French croquettes, which added and elevated this burrito a ton. Lastly the perfect accompaniment was their in-house verde salsa, which is a total must. Overall one of the most memorable burritos I've ever had and it was even more amazing because of the simplicity; absolutely a must try. Thank you everyone so much for your incredible craft and friendliness! You all really started our day's journey off perfectly and without a question your lovely store is a must for our tribe from here on. Cheers!

    - The best apple tart ever Beautiful looking 1- Nicely spiced; neither overspiced nor over sweetened 2- Beautifully decorated 3- cute ribbon around the box was a BIG plus. It shows their pride about their craftsmanships. They welcome with warm hearts and wonderfully made pastries, pastries and bread. No wonder their business has been going on for 100 years! I'm glad we encountered this charming Boulangerie ! Merci!

Love their bakery in Healdsburg and really happy they are in DT Petaluma. Can anyone tell me if they bake their goods on-site at the hotel, and id the selection is as large as their bakery in Healdsburg? Thank you.

I'm not sure what her issue is, but I have heard from other friends in town that they have had similar experiences with her and it's made them stop going there. Unfortunately, we won't be returning either.

Simple but blunt review:…read more Pros- This coffee shop is cute and has a unique edgy, but cute contemporary vibe. The staff is generally friendly and the service has been mostly great. The drip coffee has not been bad in my experience, and I've enjoyed and tolerated my espresso drinks as well. Cons - The prices. There is not justification for me to visit the Pink Owl daily or even weekly, because of the prices. I live in the vicinity of Pink Owl and have not visited it more than 30 times in two years because of the prices. I know Petaluma wants to pay their employees high wages and be progressive and what not and an undisclosed amount of $$ go to cancer research, and that's great, but who ends up having to fork out more money to fund this? EVEN with the occasional $2 off, $5 off rewards, it is cheaper to go elsewhere. "You've earned a reward" is a message not worth looking forward to, because you still end up having to shill out more money than expected. What's the point of $5 off if I still have to pay an additional $4 for a large cup of hot milk and a dash of espresso in the guise of a latte? Pink Owl is not quality enough for the prices. Petaluma has great quality coffee and Espresso in abundance. It sucks because it's a cute shop that I would enjoy if it wasn't for that slight little hiccup. On that note, I don't know a single Petaluma local that raves about Pink Owl or religiously visits them or even talks about them. I can say they do rave about other coffee shops though. I'll drop by when I win the lottery.
