The patio is awesome. Come and sit by the river, sip a beverage, let the kids play... they also have great community events, music, and now Tacos Don Pepe on the weekend. Service is friendly, vibes are chill. The beverages are pretty good. Not my favorites in town, but some creative options available. With food, they are trying to do something a bit different with empanadas and financiers. I wish I liked these more. The empanadas are small and a bit dry for my liking. The outdoor area is right on the Petaluma River so the views with a nice latte was perfect. has a little kids play area that my toddler really enjoyed. I have tried matcha from almost every place that sells matcha in Sonoma county, truly I have tried a ridiculous amount of matcha places. This was the absolute worst matcha I have ever had. It was basically iced milk with the tiniest dab of strawberry and an even tinier dab of matcha. They also have some interesting merch inside from Ecuador. Loved the alpaca blankets. I ordered the horchata latte with soy milk ($6). You can't beat sitting out in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the Petaluma river for as long as you wish! Also great to bring children as there is a small playground area. They have seating indoors as well as outdoors and you can't beat the river views! They have both tables and Adirondack chairs located outside. They also have a play area for kids, so this is a family friendly place. The menu includes a wide variety of drinks, empanadas, pastries and lunch items. Really disappointing experience. I ordered a piña colada, which turned out to be little more than a cup of milk with a light splash of coconut cream -- none of the flavor I was expecting. I also ordered the affogato, what I got instead was a popsicle dropped into a cup with a shot of espresso poured over it -- not even close to what an affogato is supposed to be, and the espresso itself was overly bitter. What a charming coffee shop! When I was first driving up, looking for the place, I did not imagine that such a shop existed in that location. It's not in a strip mall, but next to the train tracks. We waited about 5 minutes to place our order, then another 20 minutes without receiving our coffees. Eventually, with no indication they were coming any time soon, we had to cancel and leave. Order was wrong - I ordered empanadas to go...they came hot and the bottom of the beef one was soaked in grease making it soggy and inedible. I threw it all out before I got home. All of the chai and the empanadas minus a bite of each. Ordering at the counter, we ordered our coffee drinks, mine hot and my partner's iced plus some food to go. We thought our drink order came out wrong for my partner, and they were kind enough to fix it. However, my drink (a specialty one so I felt bad asking) came out iced instead of hot. Secondly, the food was subpar. Our empanadas were warmed up to go however, the filling was lacking. My partner and I took one bite of the churro and threw it out. It was chewy and hard to bite into. The back patio area with the river view was lovely. Lots of seating and very family friendly. I ordered the strawberry matcha, but it was so watery that I had to ask for a different drink. It also did not taste like strawberry. I feel like just by looking at the photo of the matcha you get the gist of how it tasted (it looks very diluted). The horchata latte was much better and I'm glad I spoke up. It was flavorful but not too sweet. The barista was super sweet and understanding. I've been here a couple of times and every time I come it seems like they have new or different pastries that are vegan or gluten-free, which is perfect for my new lifestyle. Their coffees and their ice teas are lovely. Their pastries tempt. The Grand Central Cafe' offers a wide variety. I eat a lemon fruit tart, the perfect compliment to have with a wet cappuccino. The ambience inside and out is beautiful. They have the perfect spot on the Petaluma River for sitting beside. My friend and I enjoyed a long chat at a round table, under a wide umbrella. Great cafe with cozy vibes, good food and coffee, and excellent customer service! The barista who took my order was very sweet and set a welcoming tone. I ordered a hot Aztec and chicken empanada which were both equally really tasty. They also have the cutest mugs and plates if you dine in. I liked the way the menu was set up unfortunately my drink was nasty. I ordered the lychee matcha because I've never seen it elsewhere. I had high hopes because it was also promoted as ceremonial grade matcha but it took about 20+ minutes to get our order. The matcha was grainy not very much lychee flavor and not even a hit of sweetness. They did add a lychee in the drink so I guess that's what made it a lychee matcha. One of the greatest places in Petaluma. The ambiance is amazing. They have a patio that overlooks the river with benches and hammocks. They have a little play area for kids and it's so nice to hang out there on a sunny day. The food is excellent. Especially the empanadas. I do have to say that they are pricey for the amount you get. The empanadas are pretty small and are about $6 each. But they are very very good. Their pastries are also tasty and they have AMAZING chocolate, in case you are a chocolate aficionado like I am The staff is ALWAYS super friendly. One of my favorite things about this place. I'll start with the coffee - Grand Central has some kind of magic mixologist who keeps coming up with these divine coffee concepts!! I don't normally like flavored lattes etc but these are different. The Horchata Latte, one that has Bourbon flavor and Maple, Cardamom Latte, their Pumpkin Spice Latte is not some sickly sweet syrup its pumpkin puree and spices. Then there is Grand Centrals commitment to the community! I've seen the first 5 minute plays show there, meetings, art, always kids events and parents. Their merchandise is mostly made locally and all made ethically. They sell LaLa's jam and the baked goods will make you love vegan desserts! I really wanted to like this cute spot because it was dog friendly but it was a no for us. Our drinks were not good at all. My bfs drink was an iced horchata drink super sweet he had to let the ice melt and even then it was still too sweet. I ordered a caramel latte and didnt taste anything like it. I ordered a ham and cheese emapanda they were okay nothing to brag about. The service was okay the girl that took my order was very nice and welcoming. It did take awhile for my drinks to be made. We were on the hunt for decent coffee and a pastry that did not come from corporate America. The reviews looked good so we added 15 minutes to our trip to divert into Petaluma. The people serving were very friendly, which is what earned the two stars. The pastry selection was quite slim. Neither I or my wife took more than one bite of the pastries we selected. Our best guess is that they came frozen from a central kitchen somewhere. Not tasty. The plain drip coffee also nothing to write home about. Also...the purple cup thing. To go orders automatically get poured in to purple plastic cup that can be returned and reused within the city of Petaluma. While the goal of that program is admirable, as I am all about sustainability, we don't use plastic cups period. The server should make people aware of that and offer a different solution. In this case, I would have walked back to the car and grabbed a cup. This is particularly important because we are now here 180 miles away and stuck with a plastic purple cup. read more

My first visit here and am impressed. A super charming spot for coffee and other goodies. If I had not just have had lunch, I would have ordered the empanadas on the menu- next time. The service was friendly and efficient. When you check in on Yelp, you receive a delicious chocolate mini-bar The interior is decorated with whimsical art. Outdoors there is a fun kids area where I saw several moms enjoying coffee beverages while their kids played. What I loved the most was the outdoor seating with Adirondack chairs facing the Petaluma River. Very scenic and relaxing.
