Chorizo stuffed pork chop with twice baked potato
David B.

Brought out of town friends and once again Richardsons never disappoints. I had the chorizo stuffed pork chop and it was excellent and a big enough portion to have a full meal the next day. The onion ring appetizer is always amazing. Our guest loved everything put down in front of them. The best part of visiting Richardsons (aside from the food) is the eclectic menu. If you are looking for Taco Bell standards this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a great atmosphere with a very unique take on Mexican then Richardsons should be your first choice in Phoenix. Don't let the under 4 Yelp rating fool you, this is one of the best places in Phoenix and i cannot recommend it high enough! "FIMP" Food is my Passion

Omar was an amazing server he was attentive and funny. We love coming here and sitting outside on such a nice day. The food was amazing as always. The chilaquiles ribeye was such a great price and tasted amazing. The New Mexico enchiladas pork was great as it always is.

The food was delicious, service was speedy, and the atmosphere was unique. I loved the booths. I highly recommend their pasta- the sauce was delicious and the duck tasted amazing. Their New Mexican platter was also filling and well worth the cost. Overall, very much worth the visit- just be aware that parking is vallet only :)

One of my favorites breakfasts in Phoenix. This place has excellent southwestern style food. For breakfast I highly recommend Vic's meatloaf and eggs. It is ridiculous. Service is always top notch. I usually sit at the bar but I've also sat at a table and it's been flawless every time. Coffee is good. Even the water is great; comes in an ice cold carafe for the table. The vibe is quintessential uptown Phoenix. It's southwest (New Mexican) but slightly upscale. It would be great for a date, a group meal, and drinks. The bar is fully stocked and fairly social. Friendly vibes all around. And, as is typical on Sunday morning, people are drinking mimosas my 8:30am . Also, the lighting is perfect. Lighting makes such a huge difference. Here the color is warm, dim, but not dark. It is both intimate and inviting. Great vibe. Food is spicy, tasty, authentic, and delicious. They've been here for years and I can see why. An uptown gem.

OK, I'm coming in hard. I usually judge Mexican restaurant by it in a new Mexican restaurant especially a new Mexican restaurant by green chili enchiladas with an easy egg on top which should consist of a garnishment of shredded lettuce and tomatoes as well. Onions is optional generally, I don't do the onion, but I don't mind if they put them on there but anyway that's what I considered to be a enchilada for whatever reason, I don't know the enchilada I have just didn't take me back to New Mexico. It didn't remind me of that Southwest 505 vibe. My wife come to understand is this is actually New Mexico food from the 575 which is closer to Las Cruces and El Paso Ruidoso and of course they have a different way of doing enchiladas there. I understood that that's when I realize why the chicken was so chunky it just seemed under prepared to me to enroll in. I don't know what I expect from the chicken but not just a chicken thrown into a tortilla and rolled up with some sauce over it. I'm not saying that's what I got the food. Here was excellent. It was very good for southern New Mexican food. I will go back for a special occasion. Maybe if I have a driver for some beverages I wasn't able to try a cocktail but that look like an excellent area bar and a cocktail area. Oh yeah, that's where it was jumping and the seating area was cozy and personal. I really love the way the table set up was it's very comfortable in homie feeling as far as I'll be on so yeah it's 120% on ambience. I'll just have to take a trip to Southern New Mexico and get used to the enchiladas out that way, but it was delicious. I recommend everybody try it at least once valet parking is mandatory

Had a wonderful weekend lunch special, fish tacos, delicious flavor, cooked to flaky fish perfection. Good portion size too. Served with spicy green chile sauce

My Dad is visiting from California and LOVES southwestern food so I took him to Richardson's for brunch. They serve brunch everyday till 4pm, which is awesome. We both had a Bloody Mary that comes with all the fixings and side of beer. My Dad ordered the Richardson's combo which was one Jalapeño Benedict & 2 Chicken Enchiladas with a side of asparagus. The asparagus was cooked perfect. It was crisp, bright green, and complimented the meal and sauces. I ordered a vegetarian Jalepeno Benedict with pinto beans and hash browns which was delicious! The portions are huge! My Dad loved it so much he was like John Candy in the Great Outdoors trying to finish the Old 96er! We ended up bringing left overs home, ha! Richardson's is the best New Mexican cuisine you will find in Arizona, hands down!

I love the ambiance of this restaurant. The inside has dimmed lighting with candles on every table, the outside patio is surrounded in greenery and also a vibe. I stopped by for happy hour 4-6 on a Monday and the restaurant was not busy at all so the service was prompt. I got a house margarita and smoked peach margarita (Had a Smokey favor) We had the queso & chips and ordered carne asada enchiladas with the habanero sauce! My mouth was on fire but in a good way lol so if you like spice get the habanero!

Elevated NM food and it's the best! Whether it's Richardsons, Rokerij or Dick's Hideaway your always in for a treat and they have some of the best NM Chile around. We mostly come here for brunch and every meal is amazing! If you can stand the heat I highly recommend trying the level 2 green chile!

By far the best breakfast in the entire value. We've been there a couple dozen times and it never fails to deliver. A diverse menu, unmatched service, and great cocktails. You really can't go wrong. It's the one place I make sure I take guests who are visiting the valley. Dinner is spectacular as well.

What vegan options does this restaurant have?

Not sure since they don't have vegetarian red or green chile unlike every restaurant I've eaten in in NM (I lived there). Not good.

Is the patio dog friendly?

Absolutely!

It has a spicy Wende but not overwhelmingly so. Great meal. To start we got the appetizer of Mexican sausage which was fabulous. I had a black manhattan which was one of the best I have had as well. I just love it when things are consistently great and the Rokerij just nails every time. Well done!

A steak place that doesn't know how to cook steak ... And get orders correct…read more With a party of 13, we decided to reserve the private room in the back. At first everything was running smoothly until the food came out. Most everyone got the steaks or some special. Here were the first problems: - Not everyone got steak knives after asking 3 times. - 2 ribeye steaks were overcooked (asked for medium rare and got well done). - 1 fillet steak was still alive when asked for well done. - All plates were made out of metal so it burnt your hand when touching (made an infant cry instantly). - Brussel sprouts were cooked whole, too big to take one bite and was incredibly greasy. - Someone got the wrong salad. - Someone got the wrong vegetables. So that's where the downfall began. I usually don't enjoy complaining but when a restaurant is advertised as being high-end, I expect more, and there was more ... just more issues. We asked for a refry on these steaks. It took them so long that everyone else finished eating already. When they came out, we got more problems: - 1 ribeye didn't have a bone for some reason (but everyone did). - 1 "fillet" steak was actually a ribeye cut covered in sauce to hide it. Here comes the unprofessionalism from the staff. When asked about the ribeye bone, she just said that "they" removed it for you. I'm asking, "Why?" An $85 ribeye should always have the bone. I never asked to take it off. The ignorance continues with the "fillet." I know what a fillet looks like and when asked about the cut, the waitress had the audacity to say, "They flattened the fillet for you..." I'm asking, "Why?" We all knew what a fillet looks like compared to a ribeye. It wasn't a fillet. What professionally trained chef would ever flatten a fillet? How ignorant do you have to be to even say this? The ridiculousness continued with the floor manager coming in, apologizing, gave our first round of drinks for free, 1 steak for free and gave us a business card to contact the general manager. Wait. What? It's a Saturday night, during MLB spring training and the GM isn't around? And you want us to contact them? You want us to do your work for you, to contact the GM? In the end, I'm only frustrated because the steak was $85 and it felt like I could have cooked this better at home. The steak looked like you bought it at Trader Joe's. This whole experience, was not the waitress' fault. She was dealt with a difficult situation because of the back-of-house, the designer of the restaurant and everything else around her. Who is expediting the food? Who is in charge on a Saturday night? Who is the chef? Does this person know the basics of cooking and plating? Who here cares about their food? Who designed the metal plates to be burning hot to guest? I think I found a new nominee for Kitchen Nightmares. If you want to try this place, get the steak well-done if you want medium-rare. That's what I've learned this weekend.

The restaurant was about half-full and bustling brightly indoors and on the deep shaded wrap-around patio. Our server, Branden, was one of the best servers we've ever had! Attentive and polite, even reading off the entire menu and describing highlights to hubs, who'd never been before. We were seated immediately at a booth table and brought complimentary chips and salsa. These are good fresh, thin chips and smoky mild-hot tasty salsa. Branden brought us a second round of chips and salsa as well. We ordered: - Coca-Cola fountain drink - Coke Zero fountain drink - SHORT RIB MACHACA ENCHILADAS 5/5 - Highly recommend - caramelized peppers & onions, yellow cheese, ancho chile sauce, cilantro. Served with sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, rice, & choice of beans. Classic enchilada sauce like how I remember, delicious tender shredded marinated short rib inside. - CARNE ASADA FAJITAS 4/5 (sweet soy salsa verde) served with blistered peppers, charred onions, jack cheese, guacamole, salsa fresca, sour cream, choice of beans & tortillas. Hubs said these were good. He did want rice with his meal so he ended up taking my rice which I didn't want. As you can see in the pics, the tortillas are scratch made in-house as well as the sauces and sides. Bar seating, booth and table, and patio seating available. The main dining area is more understated. Brick walls adorned with knick knacks. Bistro style table arrangements. Music less intrusive. We were sat right away. They have some great margaritas choides. We tried the Steves margaritas. Very good. Offered in a pint glass rather than a bucket or stemmed margaritas glass. As fundido lovers, we ordered the house fundido. Comes with two corn tortillas. We agreed that it aeemed a bit salty. Cheese naturally has salt. Perhaos their cooking process or brand is the cause. Waiter mentioned they don't add any salt. We didn't eat it after the first bite each. Left it on the bill even after we said we didn't really care for it. No biggie. Just seems like they would want us to come back and try something else in the future. Kinda of strike one. And No, we don't go around wanting free food after eating it all. Next we ordered the three tacos. Steak. Mexican food generally uses cute of beef meant to offer full flavor. Not prime steak obviously. Which is what makes it tasty. Not the case here. The cut was super grisly and lacked any real flavor. Tortillas were fresh and tasty. After the second course left us feeling dry we decided this restaurant didn't offer the level of flavor and satisfaction one foes to Mexican restaurants for. Evem the sode of refried beans and rice were tastless. And poorly presented. I am sure this restaurant is fine for some. For us, not so much.
