Wonderfully authentic, George's offers a laidback dining experience run by a very sweet and friendly family. I had gotten the pita lunch special, which gave me an option of chicken or gyro. Of course I had to get the gyro. This dish also comes with a choice of sides: fries, pasta, salad, chicken, rice, lemon soup, organic greens, or mixed greens. I went for the pasta salad. A friend and I also ordered hummus and pita for the table. Mediterranean food is already fresh but at this restaurant, each bite tasted fresher than the average Greek restaurant. The pita was warm and crunchy. The gyro tasted cleaner than any other gyro I've had. The pasta salad was okay, a little bland. The portion size was also incredible for lunch special! If I wanted to, I could have split it into two meals. To top it off, the owners gave me and my friend some baklava after we finished our meals, and that warmed my heart. Recently came across this place and I'm surprised I never noticed it before. The food is great!! This will now be my go to spot for meals with my mom. Friends!!! Really great food here, had the Gyros and the Chicken Kabob. The food was really great, the restaurant was super cool and vibey, the service was nice. It did take a great deal of time for our food to be prepared, and then there was a slight mixup with sauces, had to be remade, which took additional time. Once corrected, the food was awesome. I would have given 5 stars if food service a bit faster and correct on the first attempt. But, please note....the food tasted amazing. The service was great. The ambiance was trendy and vibey. This place has been bookmarked for a while. I am always on a hunt for a Greek restaurant, something akin to my favorite places back in Chicago. The hard part of moving to PHX is leaving all the great food behind in Chicago. Back there I dont have to drive more than 5 minutes without hitting a Gyros place with beautiful spit on full display. In AZ I cant even find a chicken gyro place for the Mrs. Food: The winners here are the spanakopita, lemon orzo soup and the gyro. The losers are the chewy flavorless chicken cubes on skewer and the overall portion served. Service: Order at the counter and they bring it over. Nothing special, but everything done with a smile. Overall: Huge windows provide plenty of light during the day, but in the evening it's dark inside. On recent evening there were a total of 6 diners inside and some carryouts from time to time. I was a little surprised to learn that you order at the counter, take your number, go sit down where you want to, and the food will eventually be brought to you. I guess I didn't do my research beforehand to know that this was the case, but no worries, the food is good! I ordered a gyro and side salad. The meat was a little crispy, but I like it that way, so I enjoyed the gyro and ate my entire side salad. Of course, I was pretty full by the time that I'd eaten everything! They do have specials daily that do look very interesting that I would like to try when I'm not in the mood for a gyro. There is also a lunch menu. A casual Greek (plus some Italian dishes and pizza) restaurant where you order at the counter and the food is brought to you. We were greeted as we entered and we were able to order as we were first in line. I ordered a pan-style pizza with pepperoni and mozzarella and an Alfa beer. The restaurant was fairly full for 6:30 pm on a Thursday. There at least three orders in front of ours yet we got our dishes within 20 minutes. My pizza was good although the pepperoni seemed to be a little salty. The crust was excellent. Parking should be easy as the parking lot is quite large. Both servers we dealt with were very nice. Many of the tables are moveable so large groups could be accommodated as well as individuals who can sit looking out the window. Prices are rising as inflation takes its toll. Probably you will spend $50 for a couple to eat with drinks, unless only one pizza is ordered and shared. read more

George's Kitchen is a fast casual Greek spot with a menu written on the chalkboard and you order at the register. The staff are super friendly. We ordered the Jalapeño Salad, the Greek Salad, and the Veggie Pita. The salads were similar, but the addition of Jalapeños was interesting. I suspect the peppers are soaked to mute the spice. Everything is super fresh and straightforward. Solid. read more

George's is an unassuming little spot off 16th and Bethany home. The staff is all super friendly and accommodating. The food is all very fresh and there's a wide variety of options. It's vegetarian friendly too. They have saganaki which was the best thing we had. Just gobbled it up before getting a picture! They even had some Greek wine. read more

Can't understand how this restaurant claims that it's a Greek restaurant: no Dolmades, no Moussaka, Pastitsio, as would EVERY other Greek restaurant would serve. It feels like a takeout joint instead of a sit down restaurant. Ordered the lemon soup; not very hot, not very lemony. Gyro pita was ok, but they skimp on the meat big time. It was not freshly carved, so it was like small scraps and dry. Chicken skewers were bland. On the contrary, the Hummus was very tasty, and their pita bread had the right consistency. I saw the ratings on yelp and Google , both over 4 stars, so I expected something exceptionally good. It's pretty average Greek food. Me and 9 friends went here tonight. I called them on Friday to let them know a large party would be coming because they don't have too many big tables that can be pulled together for a large party. I had to give them a credit card as they would charge me $25 if we didn't show. We showed as planned and said we had a reservation and all we got were blank stares, they had no idea. We had to pull our tables and chairs together. It's a nice dining room, just small and most the tables are booths. You order at the front desk and they deliver the food. Didn't provide much table service after that, most of us moved our empty plates to another table. I went to the front to ask for boxes for our leftovers. They did give us little half pieces of their delicious baklava. The food was just so-so, most of my friends said the same. I had the Greek platter with beef kabobs, the beef was over cooked and dry. The rice was delicious and the gyro meat was pretty good. I ordered the Greek salad expecting the normal red wine vinegar dressing, but it was a creamy white dressing. It was good. All in all, I much prefer Saba's Mediterranean Kitchen or Zeta's Grill in Goodyear. Those are 4 star places for me. read more

Ventured here with some friends this evening. The service was relatively friendly (aside from one waitress with disgruntled look the entire time we were there). The pita bread was great and their Greek salad had the right ratio of all the components. I like that we were able to add on protein (I got salmon). I felt like the portions were pretty generous. I couldn't choose what to try first so I got the Greek Platter to try a bit of everything! I subbed the rice for fries and do not regret it one bit. The starter salad (Greek) was one that i can eat over and over again! Fresh, flavorful, and had a bunch of goodies in it. The gyro meat itself was very tasty and had this crispy edge on it that provided a pleasant crunch while keeping integrity of the meat. The chicken kebab was also tasty and wasn't dry - tender and meaty. The spanakopita was so crispy and flavorful! We ended the meal with baklava and I'll be dreaming about that - the perfect layers and it's not too sweet. The service was good and everyone was friendly! The tastiest and healthiest salads in Phoenix. Everything else is delicious too. Their grilled chicken taste yummy and their salad dressing makes you want to eat more. On another visit I wanted to take my grandkids out for ice cream and most of the ice cream places are so expensive now. Only 2 pieces of fried cheese in the salad, pizza dough was slightly undercooked and the chicken was dry. Calamari was good. Spent $70, which is why I'll not go back. I've ordered take out multiple times and have been here for a few work lunches as my office is right down the street. I love how flavorful and fresh their salmon is here! Last time I ordered I had the saganaki salad with salmon and it hit the spot. I've also had the chicken pita which is great too. The only thing I had that I wasn't a huge fan of was a shrimp pasta dish that was pretty bland. Atmosphere is cute and perfect for a work lunch or quick dinner. Service is always efficient and kind. Solid consistent performance with quality ingredients and preparations. Friendly staff, small shady patio. Friend and I both ordered the lunch Greek salad with gyro. I asked to hold the garbanzo beans and he did not. I gave him all my pitas, since I am GF and he happily ate them plus all of his. Fresh, hot, slightly crispy from the grill, applies to both the gyro meat and the excellent pitas. Salad was fresh, cold and generous. I have dined inside and outside, ordered the same thing both times. My only complaint? The owner sits outside the front door for a smoke break which drifts to the patio. Very interesting, it's a cross between dining and fast food. It really is kind of a mystery on what to do how to do it unless you've been there before. You order it a counter, you sit down and they bring you your food, they do have wine, but you're not sure if you're supposed to bust your own table or tip the waiter?? The food was okay, I wouldn't say that it was terrific we did go there specifically for saganaki, but they do not light it on fire, or did not that day. Called restaurant and sent picture of the meat as requested. Received text from George saying it wasn't from their restaurant and to not come back to their restaurant! Customer service at its worst. My experience at George's Kitchen was a good one. It's Super Bowl Sunday so perfect timing without a noisy crowd. It's very clean, and plenty of seating. My husband and I looked over the menu at the counter where you place your order. I started with the scallops as an appetizer, OMG cooked to perfection and served with warm pita triangles and melted butter with garlic. YUM!! Once order was prepared Michele brought it over to the table. She was so pleasant and eager to please. She even gave us a sample of the Baklava, which was kind of her to do. That was so so, it didn't have the golden baked touch to it. I had the prime rib salad, which was enough to share with four others. It had different tastes with every bite. Also served with warm pita triangles. My husband had the Angela pizza, it was topped with arugula, tomatoes, feta cheese, olive oil, mozzarella cheese and Kalamata olives. Very mixed feelings about this place. The service at the front counter was odd. I walked in and the young man there just stared at me. No greeting, no smile, no nothing. It went on and on and on. It was really uncomfortable. Finally I asked him for a menu but then noticed two printed copies on the counter next to the register. And said "oh this must be the menu". Met with more staring. While I was ordering he held up his index finger to stop me, while he answered the phone and put them on hold. And before being charged he resumed conversation on phone order and pointed at me to sign screen for the bill. I watched him interact with a couple other customers, not much better. I guess he was having a bad day or some sort of other issue. I had the Gyro with fries. It was very good. Pita was excellent as was the shaved meat and tzatziki sauce. Not sure though about going back, the staring thing was really kinda unsettling. There was a sweet girl wiping down and bussing tables. She might be a better fit at the cash register. read more

Portion sizes were small compared to what you'd typically get at a Mediterranean restaurant with similar quality, yet the prices were noticeably higher. It's still counter service with a fairly plain interior, so it's hard to see what justifies the premium. read more
