Halibut (4 stars)

The Persian Room is a huge, elegant two-story restaurant offering up some juicy meat kabobs and ginormous platters of rice. Its beautifully decorated inside, and it definitely gave off warm, welcoming vines. No belly dancers unfortunately, LOL. Our first impressions were not the best. Despite the huge restaurant, the parking lot here and the adjacent one on Black Bear Diner fills up fast. We wound up using pay parking in the Courtyard Marriott next door. The second issue were front-of-house issues - we didn't get seated until like 30-minutes past our reservation. The excellent food and service did make up for everything. I recommend starting off with a White Sangria and then getting Chicken Thigh kabobs. Super juicy, well seasoned, just perfect. I was a bit surprised to see halibut here - decent but slightly dry so stick to chicken thighs for Persian. Rice was fluffy and plentiful - easily covering 2-3 people. Both the classic saffron basmati and barberry (Zareshk Polo) varieties were good.

The best food, great portions, amazing left overs. I love this place! Would highly recommend to anyone!

I've been to this restaurant quite few times in the past and it is always fun and has great atmosphere. The food is really great and served with mountains of aromatic rice. Very large colorful presentations. The food portions are massive, which is excellent for family and friends. Always great for a date night or meals with lots of family. One of my most favorite meals on their menu is the Lamb Shank. Which is fall of the bone tender and comes with a healthy portion of rice. I order this along with their hummus and lavash bread is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine especially with the raw sweet onions and basil. I brought my family here and truly enjoyed the food and the experience. For dessert I had there very light yet delicious and decadent pistachio cake. Truly a really great experience. Our waiter was excellent, charming yet professional. I will certainly be returning here again soon

The decor in the building hasn't changed in the 20 plus years I've been going there but for the kind of restaurant it is my guess is it looks pretty timeless. The service is always top notch and the food has never been anything other than excellent. Their chicken is always juicy and seasoned perfectly. The filet barg is always tender and juicy while the Koobideh is flavorful and the right texture. And my favorite is the loobia rice. I can't say I've ever had a bad meal and there are always leftovers to take home because you get so much food. I do have a couple complaints. $4.50 for a tea or soda is pretty excessive. And the dinner prices are almost double the price of the same meal at lunch so my advice is go for lunch and have your leftovers for dinner.

I am finally dining in at the infamous Persian Room. The hostess Ana is so welcoming and a wonderful start to this experience. I arrived early and before my guests. It didn't take long to be seated and I didn't have to wait for our reservation time. After an early and long round trip drive, I started with coffee. The mug is not small at all. Tony is our server. He was constantly checking in while we were waiting for our 4th guest. The food is delicious. We started with Hummus. It goes so well with the bread that I didn't realize was brought out. After Tony described the Zereshk, I ordered the lunch portion. It was too much and I enjoyed the second half for dinner. It comes with half rice and half salad and quarter chicken. Another guest order the same meal as me but in the regular size that's certainly for 2 people which is double rice and half a chicken. The third guest ordered Chicken Kebab and the fourth ordered Koobideh (Ground Beef Kebab). We all left with take out with no room for delicious looking dessert. The restroom is clean. (If you've seen my reviews, you know. The owner was on site so we were able to chat with him. It was a very good afternoon!

The interior is really cool and the service was great. They handled a group of 8 well. Food was decent but not my favorite- not sure if I'll be in a rush to be back.

Persian Room, another institution. Came for lunch right at opening time. The dining room is grand, with big pillars, comfy booths and enough table space to accommodate families and/or any special occasion. Server was as seasoned and very welcoming as it gets! My chicken shish were thick chunks of boneless chicken marinated, with bell peppers, onions & tomatos, as well as basmati rice that took up 1/2 of my plate. Hummus is a must as an appetizer. Love coming here and can't wait to come back!

One of my favorite places right here. Food is always delicious. You get a decent amount, but you def pay the price for it. Beautiful sit down restaurant. Plenty of seating. Fresh bread when you eat in. Service top notch. As long as you are prepared for the prices, the food is worth it.

Best ever! I've been coming here with my family for the past 20+ years. It's a Scottsdale staple the food is always delicious. The staff is really friendly and the restaurant is decorated fun and it's just an experience. The Turkish tea is my favorite in town and all the meat is fantastic. Also, the eggplant hummus is a must. 10 out of 10!

Persian room has been a staple for 30 years. Having heard rave reviews from Yelp friends and personal recommendations by two of my neighbors, this visit was long overdue. I made reservations weeks in advance and was able to sit in the upstairs dining area. The deluxe or formal interior is starting to show its age but still made a nice impression on me. Our server, Clinton, was knowledgeable and detailed in explaining the rice, salad and kabob options with the rack of lamb $43.95 Instead of just the rice, you can upgrade to half rice and half salad for $5.00. (Just stick with the baghala rice that is the standard for this entree. It was the perfect pairing and the Greek salad was not worth the up charge in my opinion. My husband ordered the vegetable kabobs $18.95 and upgraded from the basmati rice to the zereshk rice for $5.00. He enjoyed it. The barberries and saffron combination was unique. I liked the baghala much better though. There are seven varieties of rice to choose from so something for every palate. As it got busier and Clinton didn't ask what we thought of our entrees but that was okay. The star of the meal however was the hummus appetizer! I think it had the best balance of beans, garlic, lemon, Olive oil, and tahini. $11.95 It tasted sooooo smooth and dreamy. I mean creamy! We enjoyed it with the lavash bread. I watched this thin in house made bread being rolled out, scored and baked in the rotating oven. So soft yet simple it was perfect with their homemade hummus. I would definitely order this again! Another bonus was the generous pour I received for my glass of Merlot. No skimping here. :) The entree portions were generous and we had leftovers. No room for dessert this time. Tip: if you choose to pay by credit card, there is an additional 3% charge. On my future visit, I'm planning to order the beef shish kabob, try the Turkish coffee and of course dive into that amazing hummus again!

Lamb Koobideh Dinner

4 stars - Good We went here while visiting family in Scottsdale, AZ. The building does not look like much from the outside, but the restaurant is beautiful inside. It is a little crowded with tables, but the staff makes it work. The staff were very attentive to our needs and friendly. Overall, our food was great. I had never been to a Persian restaurant before, so I tried several new dishes. I enjoyed all of the food, but I preferred the lamb over the halibut. One of the members of our party got the lamb shanks, and that was delicious. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of that dish. The cake was also good. My one critique of the food is that the restaurant serves way too much rice. I eat a lot of food, and I could not even put a dent in the rice that came with my meal. Because the servings of meat are smaller, you have a lot of leftover rice, which a lot of people in our party did not take with them. I think this is pretty wasteful, and they could cut back on the rice. Other than that, I enjoyed this restaurant. I would go again when I am back in town.

SO GORGEOUS! We came for lunch and we were underdressed for sure, but staff didnt say a thing and treated us so well. Food was AMAZING! The flavors were great, meats were melt in your mouth tender. Wish we saved room to try desserts. Next time.

This restaurant is right next to our hotel, so I walked here for lunch. I'd heard from my uber driver that it was really good. They brought out a basket of warm white pita bread and butter to the table. I ordered the chicken shish kebab with half basmati rice and half Greek salad. The food was good. Nothing incredible, but good. It's a very big platter. On the weekdays they have a lunch special, so it would have been $17, but since I went in a Sunday, it was $25. To add the Greek salad was an additional $4.25. There was a sauce on the side. I think it was yogurt sauce. The salad didn't have any dressing in it. The service was great until I needed the check. By that time it had become very busy and I could not get my waiter's attention. Eventually I asked a busser to get the check for me. The atmosphere is nice, if not a little outdated. There are a lot of beautiful Persian pairing, tapestries and carvings. It is child-friendly, as there were a lot of families dining there. There's plenty of parking. I would eat here again. My bill was $32.60 before tip. I had water to drink.

I was fairly sure I had given this place 5 stars in the past, and posted photos. But alas, I don't see a review from me. So here it is... 5 stars! I'm sorry that I don't even have pictures, usually we just get the food To Go and bring it home, then get to eating. I love their hummus, it's so creamy and smooth! We generally order the combo plate with kabobs of grilled chicken pieces, ground chicken, and beef/lamb. This comes with delicious basmati rice, small salad, grilled onion & tomatoes, hummus, and a piece of pita bread. I also like to try a different item each time and I think the pecan baklava is awesome so I usually get that too. We've been coming here for years, I think we ate inside the restaurant just once or twice. It's clean and plenty of seating and the staff are friendly. Next time I'll take pictures and post them. I'll definitely be coming back.
