    Koobideh!
    Jaleebi S.

Delightful, delicious and definitely coming back! First of all, I had no idea I could find authentic koobideh steps from Roosevelt but I was so impressed with the authenticity of both flavor and presentation! Samsara's presence as a cool hookah spot is matched by the quality of the food and the beautiful people who seem to consistently hang out here. Our server was charming and matched the swank feel of another cool Roosevelt spot!

I didn't have food and went on a Friday night. We arrived around 7ish and found street parking. By time we left around 10:00 it started to liven up a lot! Whether for an actual night out or a pre game, this would be a nice stop.

Falafel, chips & guac, and falafel wrap with fries

Arrived here on a Sunday around 1. It wasn't super busy. We were only offered seating outside but later learned we could sit inside at the bar so we moved because it was hot. My friend raved about the food here so I was excited. I usually look at the menu before I go to a place but I didn't this time. I was looking forward to brunch foods but their menu doesn't have that. The options were slim and nothing really appealed to me but since I was drinking I ordered falafel to hold me over until we went somewhere else. It was supposed to come with mango sauce but came with tzatziki instead. Which was fine. I also got 2 Samsara smash drinks with guava and they were BOMB. My friend got chips & guac, which I tried and it was decent. She also got a Persian salad which she said was ok. My other friend got the falafel wrap (it was huge) & fries. She said it was good. The fries were hot & fresh. The server wasn't super attentive and would disappear for long periods of time. There isn't a lot of seating where you don't have to pay. I don't smoke hookah but my friends do and they appreciated the flavor options. The pricing was good. Music was great! I'd come back for drinks and music.

Best food and bar service ever. amazing customer service. Our bar tenders was Stephanie and Miguel. They made our drinks and it was THE BEST EVER. We came with a party of 5 and they service was super fast and very friendly. We mostly definitely will be back!

DJ and music was on point, loved our server Ayla, food was good too with my only complaint that my rice was lacking seasoning but I fixed it with a little salt and pepper. Loved the chicken skewers and my mockjito. Where this 4 star experience dropped down to 3 is when our server had to close our tab as she was leaving. She was great and attentive, assuring us that someone would come by in case we needed water refills or wanted to order additional drinks. She left and so did our service. No one acknowledged us or even came over to say that they were taking over servicing our table. It's as if once our cards were swiped with the "20%" service fee, they couldn't care less. Would I return. I would for the music and to give this establishment another chance. We were willing to order more drinks had we been acknowledged but after waiting endlessly, we left and took our money elsewhere.

Leslie was an amazing server. She was thorough and always came back to check on our table even on a busy Sunday. 10/10 love from Mississippi.

Dined-5/10/25: Came in for the 1st time. It's located downtown which means parking is impossible unless you spare yourself the stress & pay for parking. Guac & chips were tasty & our wings were fried hard as requested. They get pretty packed here on a Sat, so although the food came out at a decent time, trying to get your servers attention if anything was needed was a bit of a challenge.

This is a dope hookah spot with decent hookah and food and vibey decor. I loved every cocktail I tried and the music was ok too. This is the perfect Place to start your night .

Hookah Menu (as of Dec 2024)

Ordered: Izzy on the Eyes - Classic Hookah (~$30): lemon, ginger, and mint flavors Aya's take: Last night in Arizona and we decided to grab a hookah & chill. Samsara was recommended to by a friend who lives here and it did not disappoint. I like that they have both indoor and outdoor seating. We decided to sit outdoors and even though it was a bit chilly in the evening, we barely noticed because they have outdoor heaters. They were out of the peach flavor we wanted to try so we got the Izzy on the Eyes Hookah. It tasted exactly as described: lemony, gingery, and minty! It was super light, fresh, and packed well. They rotate the coals frequently and it lasted the 1.5 hours we were there. The total came out to ~$40 and although I never saw the receipt (they just brought the credit card machine), I assume it was due to tax and an automatic tip (even though we were a party of 3). All in all, solid hookah spot in the Phoenix area!

The space is warm, moody, and inviting--like a lighthearted Western brought to life--with candlelight and rich wooden accents creating an atmosphere that begs you to settle in and stay awhile. The drink menu was eclectic and thoughtfully curated, offering both trendy and classic cocktails alongside an impressive selection of spirits, beer, and wine. The bartenders were knowledgeable enough to suggest excellent off-menu creations and kept the drinks--including the water--flowing with effortless style and hospitality. The wedge salad was crisp and bright, elevated by thoughtful ingredients like jalapeño bacon and balsamic onions. The crab dip was a standout: packed generously with crab and complemented by just the right amount of cheese, finely chopped red onions, and crispy breadcrumbs. We ended the evening with St. George Absinthe, an absolute gem of an offering. Jake, Brad, and Stormy were kind, attentive, and full of great recommendations without ever feeling pushy or intrusive. We were able to truly enjoy each other's company while feeling genuinely cared for by the staff. Parking in the garage next door was graciously validated at the host stand. We left feeling full, impressed, and already looking forward to returning with family.

Main level/Upstairs vibe is well-lit with a true cantina bar feel. High-top tables, seats at the bar & happy hour from 4-7 pm make it ideal for some $7 drinks!!. The collection of Tequilas is GREAT. Many of which do not contain additives. I won't lie, I thought I was a big fan until I realized I didn't recognize a lot of the tequilas they had on hand. Downstairs is a whole different vibe. Custom craft cocktails, dim lighting with artwork, and more make it feel like an upscale NYC spot in your basement. I did 2 of my favorites, Paloma De Guayaba with the custom block name etched and the Baya Nueva. While in the Cantina, I had to order my friend the Basura (trash), but that wasn't the case... then again, it is served in a plastic bag, and is definitely a throwback to my early 20's of gettin' lit!!!! It was busy, but not packed, which made the service stand out more than it should have. I had to ask for water twice, never got a refill, and overall felt largely ignored--minimal eye contact, no real warmth, just an impersonal feel that didn't match the space. It felt like a place that may be a bit of a victim of its own success--popularity has grown, but delivery hasn't fully kept pace. Part of the appeal here is the permanent taco truck outside, which I know from past visits is excellent, and I love the truck's outspoken, unapologetic support for immigrants. That said, the cocktail itself was excellent. I was specifically looking for a coffee-based drink before heading to another event, and the Cambures al Estilo Foster delivered on flavor. It was tiny, though--served in a small stemmed glass, gone in a few sips. It did the job, but some may find the portion underwhelming for the price. No major complaints, but nothing pulling me back either. I'm adding a fourth star on a bit of a hunch--I'd like to think they can dial it back in if I return.

Honestly, all the food here was really great and came out so quick I was very happy. Unfortunately I ordered a Diet Coke that never came, but to be fair I did it after everyone had already gotten their drinks, and the server wasn't ready to write it down. Something that really bothered us though was when we asked the server if they do anything for birthdays and they said yes. We received two different desserts and were really happy until we got the bill and realized we were charged for one of them. We would've been fine without dessert and definitely didn't ask them to bring out two, so that was a little upsetting.

My party and I had a reservation on a Saturday night at 9pm (when it's 13 people, what can you do). What kind of sucked though (and mainly why I'm deducting a star) is that we did wait an additional half hour to be seated after our reservation time. Our theory is that they didn't think the entire party would actually arrive, and they were not ready to accommodate us. To be fair, the restaurant IS on the smaller side, but there was 0 communication during that half hour on what was going on... which isn't really good for us either. We got the original set, and this somewhat confused me as well. The food was really good, and was definitely a restaurant that I'd go to for the experience, but for some reason some of the meats were doubled while others weren't. The double portions were really nice since our party was so large, we needed to split the food between 4 different grills (so each table got 2 grills each, feeding 6-7 people in total or 3-4 people per grill), but then we had to share the portions where we only got one serving. It wasn't bad, but to me, didn't make sense. The food was really good though; I didn't care too much about the soup, but the green sauce was SO good. Mixing a little with the soup was incredible. I thought the beef and pork were really good. I personally left the restaurant full, but many others in my party did not. I think it's a really good amount of food for 2 people, but when you push to 3+, you probably do not want to come hungry. Also--the live music at Pemberton next door is SO LOUD, you're going to be shouting at your table the entire night when you sit outside. I think I would come back if I wanted to show this place to someone who didn't live here, but it isn't on the top of my list for when I'm trying to eat out, but I will definitely consider this for special date night occasions. It is extremely expensive for what it is though. For $70+ you risk the chance of leaving not full which SUCKS.
