We thoroughly enjoyed ourself here. It was our first stop off of our party bus. The ambiance and service was great and inviting. It's hot out in Phoenix so they kept a light mist blowing to keep us cool seated outdoors. The food was really good as were the drinks. I can't recall the name of the cocktail I ordered. The lemon pepper wings were my fav. The music was really good. We all danced and enjoyed ourselves. Would absolutely return. read more

I've been searching for a hookah spot since I moved to downtown PHX a year ago from NYC.... ALL I CAN SAY IS "WOW"! The hookah and service are amazing! The DJ is rockin', and the atmosphere is perfect! The cherry on top is our smashing server. She's both beautiful and perfectly attentive. I will be stopping by her often. came in in a group of guys came around, trying to hit on us and ordered us a drink and left with the tab open. This beautiful girl with the copper hair named Katrina got the tab taken off, normally servers are super money hungry and Wood keep it on. she was such a vibe. We needed somewhere to go for nightlife and this hookah spot was suggested to us. We went around 12:30AM on a Friday night and there was a $10 cover charge to get in. The hosts were very nice and attentive to us so that was greatly appreciated. We got two hookahs and the base price was about $30 a piece so not too bad. Te first hookah (the skittles one) wasn't my favorite. It blowed a little harsh too me at the beginning but then we got them to adjust the coals and it got better but the flavor still wasn't my fave. I forgot the name of the second one ( I think it had some kind of magic flavor or something in the name) was much better to me! Also ordered cocktail that was pretty good. Again, I forgot the name but it was a martini of some sort. I didn't order food but my cousin did and he seemed to enjoy it. There was music playing from the inside part of the patio that we could hear a bit outside so that was good. Overall it was a cool night. read more

Our waitress was very cool. Her name was Ayla. I think that's how you spell it. Very sweet and detailed and very respectful. She also up sold us hookah. I don't smoke hookah but I still had my boyfriend pay for it, because she was just very sweet and attentive to our orders. She didn't mess up anything as well. I will definitely come back. From the moment we arrived at Samsara Response in Phoenix, we felt taken care of. Q, the bouncer, was the first face we saw, and he was so warm and welcoming--it honestly set the tone for the whole night. Bola, the host, is just the sweetest human--so genuine and kind, she made us feel like we were guests in her home. And Milexa, our waitress, was amazing. I visited this establishment on a Saturday between 10-1030, and they charge a $10 cover fee. I was not pleased with charge but entered anyway to see what i may be or not missing. It was the standard hookah and over priced drinks as before; hence not my 1st time here. The drink was horrible plus she looked like she didnt wanna make it in the first place. The music Hella loud i guess to prevent folks from having a conversation or to potentially meet people and just to order the overpriced dranks, smoke hookah and weed. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. The service was disappointing.. we didn't even have tongs for our hookah and waited 15-20 minutes for them to bring them out after asking for them. By that time, the hookah was already burned out and too harsh to smoke. On top of the incompetence, they sneak in a 20% gratuity without informing customers. No signs posted anywhere. This place is poorly run, unprofessional, and not worth your money and time. First and last time ever setting foot in there!! I felt like we got robbed. read more

Not authentic Persian. I am from Iran so the review is based on having had real Persian food . Meat was ok . Rice was cold. Had no other sided such as tomato or safran covering. Our first several visits to Mayan Hookah Lounge were honestly great. That's why we kept coming back, we visited over 20 times because we genuinely liked the place. Unfortunately, over time the experience changed. As the staff changed, so did the level of customer service. The consistency just wasn't there. Some visits were enjoyable, while others felt disorganized, and the staff sometimes came across as argumentative rather than customer-focused. The visit that ended it for us involved a new server who insisted we leave a credit card to keep on file. In more than 20 previous visits, we had never once been asked to do that. We politely explained that this had never been the policy during any of our prior visits and declined. After that conversation, the server essentially stopped serving us. She ignored our table, relied on other employees to assist us, and even made us wait to pay because she refused to help. It made us feel unwelcome and as though our business no longer mattered. We understand that businesses can update their policies, but those changes should be communicated respectfully and enforced consistently. If the policy had truly changed, a simple explanation would have gone a long way. Instead, we were treated differently because we asked questions. It's unfortunate because we really enjoyed this place in the beginning. However, one negative experience can outweigh many positive ones, especially when it leaves you feeling unwelcome. We won't be returning, and we hope management takes customer service and consistency seriously so future guests have a better experience.

And they were also playing music while I was there. Service (3.5/5): Pretty much your standard service. We were greeted upon entering, allowed to pick our seats, we ordered promptly, and the waiter brought our hookah to us. I had to proactively order drinks and close out, but overall, the service was fine. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior, so no food for me. I did notice they have crepes, but I'm not sure if they have more than that. Drinks (3/5): I had a Gatorade. They have various cans and bottles including water, La Croix, Coke, pineapple juice, and various other soft drinks and juices. No alcohol here. Which isn't uncommon as many hookah spots are Middle Eastern. Some hookah spots have alcohol and some don't. I prefer spots that do. Now to what's most important, the hookah. We ended the evening with St. George Absinthe, an absolute gem of an offering. Jake, Brad, and Stormy were kind, attentive, and full of great recommendations without ever feeling pushy or intrusive. This is truly the BEST hookah lounge I have been to in my life! Being a middle eastern woman, I have been to A LOT of hookah lounges in my life. This lounge is unique for a lot of reasons- first off; the hookah is absolutely PHENOMENAL. I HAVE NEVER had hookah so smooth, that lasted so long, and didn't burn at any other hookah lounge in my life. What I learned is that they use lotus bowls which is very expensive which maintains even heat across the hookah to make it last very long (I came here with 10 of my friends, ordered 2 hookahs, and it lasted and tasted fresh for several hours which I've never experienced before)! The hoses and hookah are very expensive and of the highest quality even for their cheapest option hookah which I ordered. They also have incredibly delicious food and drinks- the ambience and service is absolutely incredible- the servers are so personable, attentive, and truly give incredible hospitality. I don't live here and I just came to visit while I was here at a conference- but if you are looking for a hookah place to go to PLEASE COME HERE honestly it's the best place I've been to in my life truly! Bae and I visited this spot on May 26, 2024, as a nightcap to my birthday celebration. Located just 5 minutes from our Airbnb, entry required showing ID and having bags checked. We were seated outside, which had a charming backyard vibe with hanging lights--perfect for the occasion. The music selection was fantastic, covering a variety of genres with seamless transitions. Our waiter was friendly and beautiful, and she wished me a happy birthday when I mentioned our celebration. I ordered an Old Fashioned, while bae opted for a Whiskey Sour. For the hookah, we chose a blend of peach, watermelon, and mint. As more people arrived, the service and music remained top-notch. If you're here for the escape and temper your expectations for food or drink, I think you'd have a good time. There are a TON of mosquitos here, so prepare accordingly. The bar and hotel lobby didn't have bug spray nor any for sale. The nearby liquor store does have some for sale at less than a block's walk. (The pool is hot mid Phoenix summer. The pool itself felt closer to a hot tub than a refreshingly cold pool. I'm told this is normal for pools in Arizona in the summer.) PROS: -All of the drinks are really pretty, visually, and with the pool, you have a great mecca for social media photos. -Despite the ridiculous 110+ Phoenix heat, we were relatively comfortable in the shaded restaurant area with the misters. We could still see the pool, but we weren't baking alive. -Pool bathrooms were clean enough. There were lots of puddles and toilet paper on the ground, but nothing was horrific or moldy like some pool bathrooms can be. CONS: -Water bottles are not allowed at all - not even sealed disposable plastic ones from the grocery store. They'll store them for you, and you can fetch your own water with disposable plastic cups while you're here. -The misters in the pool area were broken. With the heat, we chose not to actually use the pool, and instead stayed in the restaurant, shaded area with misters. -All of the on-menu drinks are pretty sweet and not super boozy (at their price points). It's easy to go through quite a few at their higher price. Make sure that you're spending intentionally. -We weren't in love with the food we ordered. It felt like frozen food reheated and served to us. To be fair, that's about to be expected from a pool bar, but it was still something to note at the prices and with nearby restaurants walkable. -Service is there. I wouldn't say it was friendly or welcoming, but the servers checked in often in-between talking to people in swimsuits or joking with friends. I rarely waited for anything, but I didn't feel like a valued guest. -The fabric of the chaise loungers and lounge beds are stained. I saw some employees hauling off some of them and shoving them into the back of a fabric cleaning van, so I'd assume they rotate in and out and have to deal with a ton of spilled drinks.

Located on the roof (of course) of a boutique hotel, I find free parking in the hotel's parking lot. While it was a busy parking lot, I was able to find a spot. Unfortunately, my night consisted of a comedy of errors. Ambiance (3/5): When you think best rooftop in the state, you're thinking scenic and peaceful views. Don Woods' certainly has that, though I've seen better in Phoenix. You can see the mountains in the background, but that's about it. The hotel is located on a busy street, where you'll often hear the noise of cars buzzing by or the train choo-chooing. Did I just make up a word?! I imagine the best time to stop by is during sunset. The outdoor area is relatively narrow with seating for about 20-30 people. It's a mix of comfortable seats and tables/chairs. There's also a charming indoor area, where the bar is located, but I felt like I had to sit outside. The weather was perfect, too. Service (2.5/5): This is where the comedy of errors began. I was given a menu and some water and was left to peruse the menu. Before the waitress had returned, I had picked out an appetizer and a cocktail. I then discovered that their cook had quit the other week and as a result, no food was available. That's fine and all, but you've gotta give me a heads-up when giving me the menu. Even the lobby of the hotel was experiencing issues. They sell popsicles in the lobby but the guy temporarily manning the front desk didn't know how to get their Square device working. Which ended up meaning no appetizers for me at Don Woods and no popsicles from the lobby. Two strikes. We live to fight another day.

There's not many food selections and Sundays they are closed. The drinks are semi-expensive but…read moredelicious. I would try it but at the rooftop bar it's pretty warm during the summer. I say try it if you have a chance.
