This spot is super dope! Nothing like it in the valley. Owned by 5 brothers who know how to run a successful business. The music is always the vibe and the customer service is fantastic. Shout out to Mike behind the bar he took good care of us. I've also visited a couple times and have had a shrimp ceaser salad and lamb kabob which were also delicious. I always suggest upgrading to the ice hose which makes the hookah super smooth. If you're looking for all the vibes, samsara definitely has them for you. A must stop in downtown Phoenix if you're looking for hookah and good music for sure! read more

This is one of my favorite sports. The patio is amazing. The food is amazing. The service is amazing. The hookah is delicious. I've been here 3 times now and it has been so enjoyable each time. I like to go a little later when the dj is playing. Always good music. Such a chill a lot to hang out with friends and enjoy. read more

Best hookah in phoenix , amazing ambiance, amazing team , always smiling , always checking if we need anything even when it's super busy I go there at least two to three times a week ,weekdays and weekends and the service is always perfect. Here for a few days on business and this place is right next to wear I'm staying.. came in the first night and wasn't really impressed but assumed it was because I traveled all day and was grumpy.. came in the next day and couldn't have been more pleased.. My first time doing hookah and I LOVED it! The atmosphere is AMAZING! The DJ LOVED! Service was fantastic! Drinks on par! Price----YASSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! We hung out at 1st Fridays, ate some tacos and then hit this spot! I love it! We had a friend meet us there. It was weird that people walking on the street will ask if they can smoke your hookah, but other than that we sat, had a few drinks, did hookah and people watched. Relaxing and turned up at the same time. You got to go to this place! It is pretty hot! ...so was the guy who brought out the hookahs and checked on us from time to time. I've been here a few times and I love the atmosphere. But the reason for my one star is the desperate measures their servers are taking to make some money. I'm in the industry and I understand bad days but the waitress blatantly lied to us about our check being 315, I asked for the receipt and it was only 280 with the 20% autograt. Everyone I was with had just worked a busy weekend at my establishment and we were celebrating getting through it by patronizing this place I recommended. The server over served us drinks we asked for another round of shots... and she brought us our shots and another round of drinks. After we explained her error she told us "well they're here" and "there's no manager here tonight" . I'm not confrontational so after waiting 30-45 minutes for our last round we finished our hookah and left to go spend our money elsewhere. This place is too nice to have janky people representing it, and scamming consumers as I've seen in previous reviews. Ask for a recipt before you pay. Being industry it's unfortunate that she carried herself this way because she would have gotten more than an extra 30 from me and my party. On a good note there's other waitresses that I've had that have been attentive and the security team is super helpful. read more

So excited for a new place to hang out for some good food, drinks, hookah and chill vibes. Samsara was a wonderful experience. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. We started off with some appetizers, the spinach artichoke was so so good. I had the Anar MOCKTAIL, which btw they have an impressive mocktail menu as well as cocktail. The Anar mocktail was so refreshing and sweet. I enjoyed every sip. And talk about presentation! I am excited to go back and try the other drinks. The hookahs, wow. Just wow. Before i went i had heard how smooth and flavorful their hookahs were. And they sure didnt disappoint. I tried the ice hose which was super smooth and refreshing. The service was top notch and immaculate. We had a great time. Cant wait to go back! Highly recommend. read more

Our first several visits to Mayan Hookah Lounge were honestly great. That's why we kept coming back, we visited over 20 times because we genuinely liked the place. Unfortunately, over time the experience changed. As the staff changed, so did the level of customer service. The consistency just wasn't there. Some visits were enjoyable, while others felt disorganized, and the staff sometimes came across as argumentative rather than customer-focused. The visit that ended it for us involved a new server who insisted we leave a credit card to keep on file. In more than 20 previous visits, we had never once been asked to do that. We politely explained that this had never been the policy during any of our prior visits and declined. After that conversation, the server essentially stopped serving us. She ignored our table, relied on other employees to assist us, and even made us wait to pay because she refused to help. It made us feel unwelcome and as though our business no longer mattered. We understand that businesses can update their policies, but those changes should be communicated respectfully and enforced consistently. If the policy had truly changed, a simple explanation would have gone a long way. Instead, we were treated differently because we asked questions. It's unfortunate because we really enjoyed this place in the beginning. However, one negative experience can outweigh many positive ones, especially when it leaves you feeling unwelcome. We won't be returning, and we hope management takes customer service and consistency seriously so future guests have a better experience.

And they were also playing music while I was there. Service (3.5/5): Pretty much your standard service. We were greeted upon entering, allowed to pick our seats, we ordered promptly, and the waiter brought our hookah to us. I had to proactively order drinks and close out, but overall, the service was fine. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior, so no food for me. I did notice they have crepes, but I'm not sure if they have more than that. Drinks (3/5): I had a Gatorade. They have various cans and bottles including water, La Croix, Coke, pineapple juice, and various other soft drinks and juices. No alcohol here. Which isn't uncommon as many hookah spots are Middle Eastern. Some hookah spots have alcohol and some don't. I prefer spots that do. Now to what's most important, the hookah. Pretty much your standard options. Needless to say we really liked all three: picadillo, arroz con pollo and guava and cheese - the picadillo was the favorite however both for the inside flavor and the accompanying dip. Pricing is not bad I'd say the serving and size of the three empanadas for $14 is a great price.

The heat unfortunately caused us to leave after a short while.

On the flip side, the Pyro Benedict missed the mark--the shredded short ribs were very dry. The Green Tea Milk Punch ($12) looked good, but lacked flavor and wasn't worth it for my friends. Watch out for fees: They auto-added a 1.5% credit card surcharge without informing us upfront. It's frustrating for a larger, modern venue to pass off merchant fees like that. Check your bill carefully!

This is truly the BEST hookah lounge I have been to in my life! Being a middle eastern woman, I have been to A LOT of hookah lounges in my life. This lounge is unique for a lot of reasons- first off; the hookah is absolutely PHENOMENAL. I HAVE NEVER had hookah so smooth, that lasted so long, and didn't burn at any other hookah lounge in my life. What I learned is that they use lotus bowls which is very expensive which maintains even heat across the hookah to make it last very long (I came here with 10 of my friends, ordered 2 hookahs, and it lasted and tasted fresh for several hours which I've never experienced before)! The hoses and hookah are very expensive and of the highest quality even for their cheapest option hookah which I ordered. They also have incredibly delicious food and drinks- the ambience and service is absolutely incredible- the servers are so personable, attentive, and truly give incredible hospitality. I don't live here and I just came to visit while I was here at a conference- but if you are looking for a hookah place to go to PLEASE COME HERE honestly it's the best place I've been to in my life truly! Bae and I visited this spot on May 26, 2024, as a nightcap to my birthday celebration. Located just 5 minutes from our Airbnb, entry required showing ID and having bags checked. We were seated outside, which had a charming backyard vibe with hanging lights--perfect for the occasion. The music selection was fantastic, covering a variety of genres with seamless transitions. Our waiter was friendly and beautiful, and she wished me a happy birthday when I mentioned our celebration. I ordered an Old Fashioned, while bae opted for a Whiskey Sour. For the hookah, we chose a blend of peach, watermelon, and mint. As more people arrived, the service and music remained top-notch. The first few pulls of the hookah were intense--enough to make me almost cough up a lung, thanks to the two coals on top. Our server checked in regularly and even apologized for the wait as it got busier, yet she remained attentive to our needs, even when we were ready to check out. They sat there and watched each other eat their whole meal before the next persons order was delivered - The waiter asked us if we wanted to play Connect 4 or Uno "while we waited", NOT a good sign. - I was the last person to get their order. At this point I'm over it all. It took 44:52 minutes for me to get my order. I told the waiter to just put it in a to go container and I left. The birthday girls fries were overcooked and the salmon was not seasoned at all despite the name and claims of the establishment. Oh...I forgot to mention that the food is overpriced. I paid $23.01 for the 6-piece wing and fries. I could get a whole party bag of wings from Costco(which is probably what they do) for that!!! I'm posting this to warn people AND remind myself not to go back.

There's a lot of spots for improvement here, but I'd also say that Lylo is one of the few businesses I've ever seen do such a visually-great escape out from their pool area. If you're here for the escape and temper your expectations for food or drink, I think you'd have a good time. There are a TON of mosquitos here, so prepare accordingly. The bar and hotel lobby didn't have bug spray nor any for sale. The nearby liquor store does have some for sale at less than a block's walk. (The pool is hot mid Phoenix summer. The pool itself felt closer to a hot tub than a refreshingly cold pool. I'm told this is normal for pools in Arizona in the summer.) PROS: -All of the drinks are really pretty, visually, and with the pool, you have a great mecca for social media photos. -Despite the ridiculous 110+ Phoenix heat, we were relatively comfortable in the shaded restaurant area with the misters. We could still see the pool, but we weren't baking alive. -Pool bathrooms were clean enough. There were lots of puddles and toilet paper on the ground, but nothing was horrific or moldy like some pool bathrooms can be. Spacious stalls for changing too - though I didn't see any shower or changing areas. -The pool area itself is pretty! It makes for gorgeous Instagram photos, and Lylo knows that. There are lots of little spots (a camp sign, a chair off on its own, all the loungers, etc.) that make cute photo backdrops in addition to the pool itself. -There is a collection of inflatable pool toys in the corner that seem to be open for guest use. CONS: -Water bottles are not allowed at all - not even sealed disposable plastic ones from the grocery store. They'll store them for you, and you can fetch your own water with disposable plastic cups while you're here. -The misters in the pool area were broken. With the heat, we chose not to actually use the pool, and instead stayed in the restaurant, shaded area with misters. -All of the on-menu drinks are pretty sweet and not super boozy (at their price points). It's easy to go through quite a few at their higher price. Make sure that you're spending intentionally. -We weren't in love with the food we ordered. It felt like frozen food reheated and served to us. To be fair, that's about to be expected from a pool bar, but it was still something to note at the prices and with nearby restaurants walkable. -Service is there. I wouldn't say it was friendly or welcoming, but the servers checked in often in-between talking to people in swimsuits or joking with friends. I rarely waited for anything, but I didn't feel like a valued guest. -The fabric of the chaise loungers and lounge beds are stained. I saw some employees hauling off some of them and shoving them into the back of a fabric cleaning van, so I'd assume they rotate in and out and have to deal with a ton of spilled drinks.

Located on the roof (of course) of a boutique hotel, I find free parking in the hotel's parking lot. While it was a busy parking lot, I was able to find a spot. Unfortunately, my night consisted of a comedy of errors. Ambiance (3/5): When you think best rooftop in the state, you're thinking scenic and peaceful views. Don Woods' certainly has that, though I've seen better in Phoenix. You can see the mountains in the background, but that's about it. The hotel is located on a busy street, where you'll often hear the noise of cars buzzing by or the train choo-chooing. Did I just make up a word?! I imagine the best time to stop by is during sunset. The outdoor area is relatively narrow with seating for about 20-30 people. It's a mix of comfortable seats and tables/chairs. There's also a charming indoor area, where the bar is located, but I felt like I had to sit outside. The weather was perfect, too. Service (2.5/5): This is where the comedy of errors began. I was given a menu and some water and was left to peruse the menu. Before the waitress had returned, I had picked out an appetizer and a cocktail. I then discovered that their cook had quit the other week and as a result, no food was available. That's fine and all, but you've gotta give me a heads-up when giving me the menu. That way, I wouldn't have spent the time to look over the food menu and get my heart set on a particular dish. On a better note, they have free WiFi. And service was overall friendly and pretty efficient. Food (N/A): While I was unable to order some food, on most nights, they have a small menu of small plates. More of a snack type of spot then a full meal type of establishment. Drinks (3/5): Don Woods is know for its cocktails and they have a list of 10 or so craft cocktails. Plus, beer, wine, and the typical options that you would find when there's a full bar. I feel like the bartender messed up the proportions on my cocktail as it was a bit rough. One drink and I was out. It seems like Don Woods' is experiencing some turnover which is leading to some mishaps. Combine that with some high expectations given the accolades they won, and it was the recipe for a disaster. I love a good rooftop bar, so I was hoping for more at Don Woods' Say When. Even the lobby of the hotel was experiencing issues. They sell popsicles in the lobby but the guy temporarily manning the front desk didn't know how to get their Square device working. Which ended up meaning no appetizers for me at Don Woods and no popsicles from the lobby. Two strikes. We live to fight another day.
