I have been coming here for over 15 years. I mostly sit at the bar. Food and Ambiance is always 5 stars. Bartenders are not always personable. Today Shea & Seth gave me the 5 star treatment. A friend and I had a two gross encounters at Richardson's this afternoon. A hair was in the salsa that we got with the tortilla chips. Then, if that wasn't gross enough, a large roach crawled over the bench of seats in front of us and stomped to death by a staff member. Neither incident drew an alarm to Annie, the manager on duty. In fact, she gave excuses and had a condescending attitude. No apology was offered by her. When Alicia came on shift, I explained that we had occurred and that we felt mistreated. She agreed with us and so she offered us a gift certificate to return to a better experience. Annie, the manager yelled at her ( we could hear) and ridiculed her for attempting to make things right with us. We are appalled at Richardson's choice in having Annie as a manager and furthermore; the fact that management aren't trained to enforce more healthy cleanliness protocols and more kindness in communicating with customers. I am disappointed in having to report such unsanitary conditions. But Alicia deserves a raise! Super professional. read more

This could have been a good meal, but things went wrong with the entrees. Not much Covid spacing at the tables,but the four bars seemed to have some distancing. Mt choice was the stuffed chicken breast, but they used Asiago cheese and that was harsh and bitter. Plus,the glaze on top of the chicken was also poor tasting. Good corn and the GCP was good as well. Heidi's pasta had unusual green chile pasta, but it was not cooked enough. Do yourself a favor and come eat here. This place is traditional looking but has lots of hidden personality, such as a secret bar downstairs. There is tons on the menu and the portions are huge. They make it easy to substitute/make changes. The drinks are fast, and the service is wonderful! We came on a Sunday night. There was no wait and we enjoyed a lovely covered patio, although there was plenty of indoor seating as well. The food here is very good. You have to try the bacon wrapped shrimp! So good!!! The portion sizes are big too so my husband and I could have shared a meal. Definitely need reservations. The only thing that was super disturbing was two waitresses got into a fist fight out in the open and made a huge scene. I wouldn't have expected that at this kind of restaurant. Ooooo my fellow Yelpers! Here is an experience! First time visiting Richardson and I was loving the vibe UNTIL a COCKER ROACH was climbing up the wall from our booth. My hubby had to kill it with his flip flop because it was really climbing the walls all around us!!! SUPER GROSS!!!! We told the waiter so he could get a a wipe to clear it from our view anhe apologized and said would make it right. We still stayed hoping it was a one off but God knows, maybe not. We enjoyed our food, I had the halibut and hubby the steak. No making anything right on our bill or complimentary drinks, dessert, etc. Probably won't be back. Following occurred on a Monday at 12:45 in the afternoon. Stopped in to order takeout since we couldn't order online, went into the doors marked curbside pickup. Four individual employees sitting around on their phones finally one walked in and said can I help you, I explained that I wanted to place an order to go. They then directed me to follow them through the kitchen, yes they walked me directly through the kitchen which by the way would've ultimately made me not eat there if this experience went better. I was lead and left to a station behind the bar which no one was available so I found my way to a hostess station with no hostess present, so I continue to stand there awkwardly. Then another person appeared and asked if I had been helped yet yet and said a hostess wood be here soon, then another person, not the hostess. again asked if I've been helped yet? I explained I'd like to place an order to go and requested a menu. They then asked me for my last name, why? And handed me the menu and walked away. At this point I was exhausted and still needed to address an allergen question for my partner but figured that was a lost cause and left. Unorganized, no process, rude and kitchen sub par, in addition to the fact that they walked me through it. read more

If I could give zero stars and still write a review... I would. My husband called the day before we wanted to go and was told they only accept reservations for 4 or more but of we came around 4:30, we should be fine. We arrived at 4:15 and tried Rokerji first... there was no host and someone had to find someone. Then we were told they were fully booked but we could try the cellar. That was also booked. They told us to try Richardsons... note.. all three locations are together... on the SAME PROPERTY. so you'd think they would have better management and communication. Waited 15 minutes ...along with those who had reservations.. and no service. One customer also waiting said to us "reservations don't matter if there's no one to help you get your table." Also, the parking is valet only but the valet didn't seem to know what he was doing as he almost reversed into us when we first arrived. I'm sure the food is good but the experience is awful. I'm pretty sure nothing will come of this review either... but maybe it will help someone else. read more

I have to admit, I expected more. I've always wanted to try Richardson's and we finally chose a special night and went. No one was at the front -- we waited a while, then wandered around to see if there was anyone working there other than the obviously very harried bartender; finally a girl came out and seemed annoyed that we wanted to have dinner (it was only about five in the evening), and she said we could sit at the bar. Neither of us are drinkers, and we're both older women who don't like sitting on bar stools, but we were game, so we found seats. There was no place to put our things down, no hooks under the bar, nothing -- had to juggle everything and climb up on rather uncomfortable stools. The bartender finally had a chance to take a drink order -- he was okay with sparkling water & lime. He did eventually take our food orders, as well. It was crowded. It was loud. The food, however, was excellent. I had the Sirloin with mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts -- the sprouts in particular were spectacular and the steak cooked to perfection. We both had house salads, no choice of dressing but what came on it was nice; also calamari, which was good. On the whole, we were disappointed. It would have been nice to be warned that one would need reservations to get a table even at 5 on a Wednesday night -- nothing on the website said reservations were required -- and the parking was all valet, no self-parking AT ALL. I know that's starting to be all the rage in Phoenix, but I don't care for it. I love New Mexican cuisine, and I'd love to try again. But it's hard to say if we'll ever come back. read more

The food was a 5, the atmosphere good, service was a 1! We waited a long time for someone to show up at the host/hostess station. I started to go to the bar prepared to ask if someone could seat up when finally 2 people showed up. We were seated and left to wait 10 minutes before our waitress arrive. She acted like she had just run the mile and slumped against the wall adjacent to our booth. She asked something that I could not hear over the din of the room. I told her I could not hear her and she rolled her eyes and stepped forward to repeat her question. At this point I should have expected the horrible, unattentive service. We have so many other options in this area to put ourselves in that position again. We dine out at least 4 times per week. Probably will not return here for a while. read more

The bus boys kept a clean restaurant but that was the extent of helpful service. Anything we needed, someone from our table had to get up and go to the bar. Richardson's is by far my favorite restaurant in the Valley. It's not traditional Mexican, but it's spicy like New Mexico Mexican food, which is why I like it! While I've had dinner here many times, today was my first brunch but definitely not my last. There's not much seating so get here at off peak times to get seated right away. But it is worth the wait if you have to wait for a table. Also, beware if the chili! It's not bland like most Mexican restaurants in the Valley. It definitely has a bite! read more

A profound disappointment given the prices. Came on a Monday during happy hour. Couldn't make reservations because less than four people so they sat us at a tall and uncomfortable and inconvenient table that was non handicap with an obviously very handicap person. Waiter couldn't find any happy hour menu whatsoever. He said the margaritas were $8, then I pointed out that their web it said $6. He wouldn't honor the lower published price. Actually we don't know what we were charged for anything because the bill came without itemization. The famous chili potato was $8 and not worth it. Also the waiter offered us chips and salsa or guac -- we said no but I asked him after if they were complementary. No, and he didn't say how much they were. Won't be back. And cheapest thing on the kid's menu was a charcuterie board for $55. Deeply disappointed. Edit: credit due to the bacon wrapped shrimp: absolute perfection!! (But I can't say for sure if it was a fluke, or due to the wood cooking, or the chef, or the shrimp at that moment. But I would try them again!!) What a find. This place is terrific. We just came back from our second time there. There were four of us, two of us had the stuffed chicken, it was delicious, the corn and potato in a pepper was just sumptuous. The salad that came with the entree was great znd large enough to share. My wife ordered the Spare Rib appetizer, they had a kick to them and fell off the bone. The forth in our party ordered the Quasadia's that she quickly finished. And to top it off it's inexpensive, we'll definitely be back. read more

Visiting Richardson's and the Rokerji is now one of my three 2022 New Year's resolutions! It had been a LONG time since we had last visited, and I'm kicking myself that we haven't been more regular. Their New Mexican dishes are among the best in the valley. Their adovado is stellar, and the rellenos with a choice of meat filling including duck, pork, or beef are some of the best I've ever had. Their "level 2" green chili sauce comes with a warning for good reason (there are no returns for being too hot) - you'll feel this burn. Excellent selection of wines and custom cocktails, and an incomparably comfortable and cozy southwestern atmosphere. read more

Awesome brunch! Definitely check out the specials on the chalkboard. Carne Adovada is some of the best I've had. On the brunch menu they top it with egg cooked however you'd like. I'm weird, I like scrambled and they asked if I wanted it soft, regular or hard scramble. You also get a choice between hash browns and potatoes with onions and peppers. They'll then ask if you want them crispy (yes, please!). The French toast is amazing! I don't even like French toast but this is a must order. I was so full and couldn't stop myself from getting more bites from my friend. It's thicker, almost French bread style, bread that is cooked perfectly with a light cinnamon flavor. Not too sweet, crispy exterior with soft (not mushy!) interior. This is the only French toast I'd ever order at restaurant and will most likely order that (atleast one slice!) when I go back. The portions are pretty large, definitely shareable or enjoy it again at home with a to-go box. Mimosas are delicious, more champagne than juice which is my style. They have grapefruit, pineapple, cranberry and orange. Bloody Mary's are served with a small side of beer. Not the best Bloody I've had but satisfying. The outdoor patio is gorgeous, highly recommend sitting out there. They do have heat lamps. There is a cozy outdoor fireplace has well, tucked away from the main tables. read more

My go to place in PHX. Great ambiance and killer food. The green chili potato is as good as it looks.

The food was great. We got the enchiladas with green and red sauce but the red sauce was definitely tastier! Everything about the food was awesome but we've never experienced the service like we did there. We waited awhile to be seated even though we had a reservation (not a huge deal) but then we waited 15-20 minutes to even see our server! When she finally came, we got our orders in quick and asked for water. Took another 10 minutes for her to come back. After food arrived, we didn't see her for a while (mind you, the place was basically empty. She was not busy). We asked for water when she came back because the food was super spicy. We waited 15 minutes for water and then she brought it to the other table and not us. It was almost laughable how poor the service was. We still never got our water . She was nice and we thought she's probably a great person but truly a horrible waitress! read more

I would give negative ratings if I could but the website reads that they are open until midnight on a Friday night and over a 5 minute period, standing in the lobby, at 10:13pm, 6 employees looked at us and not one employee acknowledged us. Two of the six passed us by and said nothing. I have no idea what your food tastes like but as a first time visitor, was looking forward to trying it. Shame on you for ignoring me and now I am headed to Carlos O'Brien's to see if they give me the same type of garbage service I just received from you. Just freaking amazing, but it seems as though everyone but me already knew that. My former boss was in town and due to our schedules I was looking for something convenient for both of us. Richardson's was the perfect location. The service was outstanding and the food was even better. She had a Quesadilla which was huge for an appetizer and I had the Green Chile Stew & Eggs. The service was horrible, we had to order my brother's beer twice and if we wanted seconds we had to flag our server down. Not once did she come back and check on us after we got our food, it was as if she couldn't be bothered! My last few visits have been sub-par due to deteriorating quality of food and service. Richardson's has gone down hill and I'm very sad this will no longer be one of my go to restaurants. Probably the best green chili in Phoenix, they have lots of other options too. I really love their brunch especially the green chile stew with eggs. But we went for dinner tonight. This was my first experience with Richardsons. Maybe it was an off day. I ordered the enchiladas and eggs. Unfortunately the enchiladas were mostly sauce. Our server seem to be a bit distracted. On one of our guests ordered iced tea., the server filled her margarita glass. Then when it was time to pay our tab, we asked for separate bills. "That's not allowed there." Richardson's is a fantastic New Mexican-style diner. I ordered the Taos Combo, and I haven't had anything that good in a long time. It's not authentically New Mexican but more an Arizonan's artistic take on the Land of Enchantment. I went on a Saturday night with no expectations and wasn't expecting it to be so packed. I'll be calling in a reservation next time. I was very lucky because I found a parking spot in the front. They have valet parking too, but I have no idea how much it costs. I had trouble finding the hostess. There's a walkway and a big door next to the valet that seems like the main entrance, but the hostess is behind some double doors obscured under a portico to the side. There are multiple bars inside, and I was lucky to find an open bar stool at one of them. (No tables were abailable.) The bartenders and servers were extremely attentive and didn't stop moving once. The food came out quickly too. The place was loud but not overwhelmingly so. It's also quite dark, so you feel like you're in an antiquated New Mexican tavern lit by candles. They had heaters stationed throughout, and that was very nice too. read more

They were excellent. Now to the bad. The extremely horrible taste in my mouth that in turn made the great food, bitter. Service is key to everything in a restaurant and Richardson's lacks this, sadly. The very beginning was not a great start. A host that tells us it's between a 1-2 hour wait, that's quite a large window. Then finding a spot at the bar, where we were not greeted for a good 5 minutes. Once we were greeted it was not a "hello" it was a "what do you want?" We had to waive down the bartender or any staff in our line of sight down. Mind you we were at the bar. I will not excuse a busy night to the way customers are treated and we were treated like we didn't belong and were a nuance. The service dictates the whole experience. read more

We have been to Richardson's and the Rokerji many times, at one point Rokerji was our favorite restaurant. Over the past year, this place has gone downhill. Our last visit, my medium rare steak came out well done and the service was very mediocre. We had made a reservation two months prior and towards the end of our $900 meal, were told that they had another reservation for the table and that we needed to hurry up. That is a totally unacceptable thing for a restaurant to do, especially given we had made the reservation so far in advance, spend nearly a grand at dinner, and the waitress hadn't even come to ask about dessert yet. After complaining to the manager on duty, he told us the main manager would give us a call to talk about what happened. They never called and we won't be going back. read more

As a former New Mexican, I can say that the carne adovada is divine, smoky pork cooked fork tender in red chile sauce with moderate heat and the portion is huge, must be a pound of meat plus generous sides of excellent pinto beans and rice, all soaked in the rich meat sauce. It is best with house made flour tortillas which is how the dish comes, however I had to order corn to keep it gluten lite. The corn tortillas were average, they do not appear to be house made as they were too uniformly round but that is a minor point. Between hubby and myself this one dish yielded 4 servings of meat for us as we are occasional meat eaters and this was very rich from the rendered pork fat in the sauce. I would prefer less fat and combined with the corn tortillas, makes this a 4 instead of 5 star rating for me, but avid carnivores and keto diet fans will love this meat dish and I will be more than happy to share this dish with someone again as the flavors are credible and carne adovada is hard to find among the sea of Sonoran style restaurants in the Valley. read more
