I have been here twice this week. The lunch special is "special" indeed - good flavors and the perfect amount of food. The happy hour is a nice value as well. The best part of the experience though is the "tone" in the bar. The daytime bar tender is a master class in service: attention (just right) and nice rapport. She is on her game. This location is great. We stopped in for a couple drinks is and I got what the waitress suggested. It was pretty good! It was a frozen marg with blue rum on top and strawberries. This was our first time and we weren't disappointed. This venue is HUGE and warm feeling with plenty of dining tables. Our server, Ava, was very informative and attentive. We decided not to have alcoholic drinks and enjoyed water with our meal. Ava came by often to check on our water. We started with the Mexican Street Corn which can come 'on the cob' or off. We chose 'off' because we were sharing. My wife had the Mahi Mahi and Crispy Shell Ground Beef. she thoroughly enjoyed her meal. My friend and I attended the "Exclusive Tequila Dinner Experience" a one of a kind 5 course dinner with tequila pairings. I will say my friend and I fell out of love with the Blanco Cocina + Cantina on Scottsdale Rd. and we have only been at this new location 1 time. So, I wasn't sure what to expect. WE WERE BLOWN AWAY with this dinner pairing, from the presentation, service, the tequila brands and the dishes! The Tequila Dinner consisted of 4 tables of 6. It was open seating. We were presented with a refreshing Welcome Cocktail. First course was a Charred Avocado Tostada paired with a Tequila Ocho Reposado. Second course was a Scallop Aguachile paired with a Tequila Ocho Anejo. Third course was a Chicken Tinga Tamale paired with a Tequila Ocho Extra Anejo. Forth course was a Sonoran New York Strip paired with a Mezcal Vago Elote. Dessert was Empanadas. Again all the food was FANTASTIC along with Tequila. Can't wait till they have another event! Tucked in the new PV mall development, Blanco Cocina offers a vibey, trendy atmosphere with a blend of indoor/outdoor seating. I do feel that even with as large as the space is, it is fairly easy to drop into a more intimate setting with the way that the restaurant is laid out. Hostesses have been courteous each time I've visted. The servers have been excellent, both friendly and attentive to our needs throughout the visit. The menu is extensive, but I'll only be speaking about the vegetarian options. I tried the Papas Dulce Bowl whent hey first opened. The makings of the bowl all sounded healthy and fresh, but I have to admit, I was a little disappointed at how salty the whole thing was. I haven't dared to try it again, but I'm really hoping that it was a one-off as they were first opening. I have returned to try their crispy sweet potato (not as salty!) and the traditional cheese enchiladas. Both come with rice and beans, making the entrees quite filling and enough for me to take home. I have enjoyed those two entrees and would order again. They offer complimentary chips and salsa which is a great perk. I love coming for a happy hour (M-F 2-5PM). Their space and service also allows for larger groups, so it's a nice spot to celebrate birthdays or gatherings with co-workers. TIP! Parking from the Whole Foods end of things is not the greatest with more businesses opening up in the area, however there is a large, covered parking lot behind the restaurant (Costco end). read more

If you're in the mood for sizzling flavors, this spot delivers big time. Our friends recommended Blanco Cocina as it was right next to our hotel and close for everyone to meet up! I went with the beef fajitas which came out on a hot skillet, perfectly seasoned and tender. The peppers and onions were caramelized just right, adding sweetness and a nice balance to the fajitas. Portion sizes were great and huge for the amount given. The spicy margarita suggested by our waitress was a great choice! It had the perfect kick without being overpowering. Absolutely not. If you feel you must go, do not, under any circumstances, order the Ahi tuna tacos. $15 (during happy hour) for three teeny tiny tacos (one fit into the palm of my hand), filled with Ahi tuna that's been marinated in soy sauce and sugar, then topped with green onions. Literally. That's it. I think one of them had a little guacamole at the bottom of the taco to keep the tuna from falling out. Completely underwhelming flavor profile and a perfect portion size...if you're on Ozempic. I also ordered the individual carnitas and chicken tacos. $6 each, also during happy hour. The chicken and carnitas tasted like they had been dredged in salt over and over again. Zero flavor dimension--just salt. There was an attempt at creativity; they added some orange segments to the carnitas taco. But the predominant flavor of salt and odd white sauce ruined it. Even though it was complimentary, I have to mention the chips and salsa. I give them credit for serving the chips warm and not over salting them; they were really good. But the salsa was bad. It tasted like ketchup with diced tomatoes, onions and jalapeños mixed in. While I was eating, I overheard two different women at the bar describe the food as "not bad". Not a ringing endorsement and frankly, it's usually a polite way of saying "this isn't good." For me, this place isn't worth the money. I can think of plenty of other Mexican places that offer better quality dishes at more reasonable price points. I recommend going elsewhere. read more

Wednesday night, restaurant week visit. Arizona Restaurant Week had the menu as $55 per couple but it was $33 per person upon arrival. The Restaurant Week menu came with:a drink, an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. All of the portions were smaller than normal so take note of that when viewing the pictures. The service was fine, the entree took a good amount of time to come out. The margarita was by far the better drink compared to the sangria. The appetizers: guacamole and warm queso were fine. The warm queso does come with a small amount of carne, sour cream, and guacamole. The entrees:chicken tinga enchiladas and traditional carnitas tacos were ok. The enchiladas cheese to meat ratio was too cheesy. The tacos were nothing special. The rice was moist borderline watery. The beans were just ok. They tasted canned and not well seasoned. The desserts: chocolate tres leches and dulce de leche flan were both good. The flan was nice and light. The tres leches was heavy and a little too thick to me. The complimentary chips and salsa were probably the best food items. The chips were warm and fresh. The salsa had a little kick but wasn't spicy. We sat outside in the large patio area. Misters were on and the whole restaurant has low lighting, so it was comfortable temperature wise. read more

I came here with my husband and friends for their soft opening back in December and had a fantastic experience. Not only was the food amazing but the staff was very well trained, attentive and friendly. We shared chips and salsa, queso and mexican street corn. The queso was out of this world, I could sit in it, haha. For dinner we ordered prime skirt steak fajitas, spicy shrimp scampi fajitas, sea bass veracruz and the tucson chimichanga. We all shared some bites and loved all the dishes! Huge portion sizes! For dessert we had their CHOCOLATE TRES LECHES- praline mousse, hazelnut toffee. The perfect size to share with the table. I've been to Blanco Cocina and Cantina twice and both times were excellent! The first time was for dinner. We had the warm queso and the grilled street corn to start. I ordered the seabass veracruz, it was light, flakey, and had good flavor. It's a large portion. My husband ordered the spicy shirmp scampi fajitas. Our friends ordered the prime steak fajitas and the Tucson chimichanga. The chimichanga was huge! Definitely a dish you could split. We all tried different margaritas, there are some fun and interesting ones on the menu. We had the chocolate tres leches cake for dessert. Everything was great!! I came back a few weeks later and had lunch with a friend on the patio. I had the grilled mahi tacos and she had the green chili pork burrito. We both took half our food home because the portions are large. Everything was fabulous. The only negative I can say is the parking is difficult when they don't have the valet available with the construction going on, but that's it. Great restaurant!!! read more

Excellent service and very attentive staff, always there to make sure you are pampered. Warm Queso good starter to share, a little on the smaller size, but a good choice. Cheese Quesidilla another good appetizer to get the dinner started, can't go wrong. Prime Skirt Steak Fajitas with rice was a nice enjoyable entrée, could easily contain 4 tortillas worth of meat and condiments but the supply 3 tortillas so last one was stuffed Tucson Chimichanga this is a pretty good size entrée, good tasting and contains alot of items in the Chimichanga, this is a winner I am reviewing this after dining here 3 times and each time was an excellent experience read more

So my family and I came to this restaurant, we went in based on the reviews on yelp. We came in with no reservation and my family asked to sit at a booth which we were promptly told No! after standing there for a moment they gave us a seat on the side with the drapes closed. Very sweet girl very nice service. She's gonna do great here. She was a very good server. She knew the menu and its contents. Their chips are absolutely delicious. The salsa was thick and thank goodness not spicy. The first thing we got was a queso fun dedo it was like fondue and it came with tortillas and chips, and it was really good! I ordered a cheese quesadilla with an order of guacamole. I have to say the quesadilla was greasy. I'm not sure what they cooked it in. It was good, but my hands were covered in grease. The guacamole honestly had nothing in it, but just mushed Avacado. I got the pico de gallo on the side because they said it might be too spicy for me if mixed with the guacamole. I didn't care for the guacamole it really had no flavor because it was just avocados with a little cheese sprinkled on top. My sister had the chili Verde pork enchiladas, which she loved. Also, the Americano was ordered, which was a beef taco with rice, a tostada and an enchilada. They enjoyed that very much as well. They were nice portions so we did take everything home. For drinks, I had a corona with extra lime and my sister got the Paloma, which I tried, and it was really really good and had a great presentation. The bathroom was super clean. upon leaving unfortunately the hostesses and there was 3 or 4 of them behind the counter. Did not say goodbye, thank you , Good night how was your meal? Thank you for coming.. Nada zero nothing! That was a Big turn off!! So I love the two waitresses. The food was good. The next time I'm in Phoenix. I probably will come back. Overall was a fantastic dining experience. There were 4 of us. We started with the cheese crisp and it was crispy as described, and tasty- Highly recommend. For entrees we had the asada burrito, a chicken chimi, a burger and the vegetarian bowl with fried queso and sweet potatoes. All were great, especially the asada burrito and the burger better than expected for Mexican place. We also ordered a pitcher of watermelon margaritas. It was very good but was shocked at the $75.00 price when I got the bill. Our fault for just taking waitress suggestion for it being popular, but I felt that could even be a little sly without mentioning it was one of the more expensive option. I'm lost on the popularity of this chain. First time at this location, 2nd time @ Blanco overall. The food is overpriced and mediocre at best. Mexican Shrimp Cocktail @$19 - Diced tiny pieces of shrimp swimming in a tomato paste that was nasty. Cheese Crisp with Short Rib @$17 - Very good, but it quickly, as it cools down quickly. Best part of the meal! Skirt Steak Fajitas @$35.00 - Overcooked tiny portion of chewy skirt steak. Skirt steak is a tough cut, must be marinated for several hours and served Med-Rare. Anything over and it's a shoe. Even Abuelos figured out the temp issue. I'm fine paying $35 for quality and taste: I got neither. Even Chili's about 500 feet away does a better job and that's not a good sign. It also seems the kitchen can't keep pace with the floor? We had reservations, but people were being turned away without. When we came in 1/2 the place (closer to the kitchen) was empty and stayed that way for most of the night. Seemed they had plenty of servers, so not sure if it's taking them sometime to get the balance right. read more

Very poor experience. We've been to the Blanco in Scottsdale and in downtown phoenix multiple times, and had amazing experiences. We love their food and drinks. This location was the exact opposite. We were seated in front the bar area with kids, which seems not legal. We brought it up and they said, well there's babies here too, so? The waitress was very nice, but that was really the only good thing. Our chips bowls were empty without being refilled several times. The food itself was bland and burnt. For our family of four, $142!!! It was worth maybe $50. We will not be back to this location. read more

I didnt realize we had to make reservations to get an inside table... note to self for next time. was told we could sit right away at bar our out on the covered patio. it was only in the low 90's so thought the patio wont be as noisy. well we got sat right under a mister lol it was literally pouring on us so I asked to move... we moved to a booth which better but then it got sooooo humid lol. Our waitress did are really great with handle are requested and pointing us to the best stuff on the menu. We had the SHORT RIB MACHACA which was amazing... totally recommended. Multiple margaritas frozen and regular. Also got the mangos last stand which is a really great margarita and I like suggest it considering I had three of them. For are main courses we hand BRICK CHICKEN "PIBIL" fajitas, PORK CHILE VERDE enchiladas, and the CARNE ASADA Burrito. All where amazing and delicious and let's not forget dessert which I and the CARAMEL APPLE EMPANADAS with powdered sugar excellent totally worth it.
