This is a little place that doesn't look like much from the outside. Once you go through the "bar" like area there are a large number of tables in back.
We sat down and were brought a plate of olives and a basket with 2 rolls (note, if you eat them you will be charged for them - but don't skip the bread - it was wonderful). We asked for an English menu and were provided with one. Keep in mind the daily menu of what is available changes so you need to identify something on the English menu and then find it on the real one. We ordered a rack of ribs and the steak St. Marie.
For the ribs... this was a gamble knowing that my husband can be very picky about his ribs and he does consider himself a rib connoisseur. Well, who knew that all you really need is salt. These ribs were more than delicious. You could tell that it was from fresh, local pork. Just salted then on to the grill - no other seasoning. These were amazing. Unfortunately, they make them as a main dish on Friday and don't always have them on the menu.
The steak St Marie was very good. It was a little odd, from a US girl's perspective, to have a fried egg on the steak covered with cheese sauce and served with both rice and french fries. But the steak was very good, Again, the seasoning was excellent.
Although only in Lisbon for the week, we will be back to try some of the fish dishes. read more
