The entrance is roped out - when you try to get in, one of the staff members comes out to explain the 'rule'...basically two food items per person is required (requested), so you cannot come here just for beverages. We had an outstanding experience at daPrata52, and it was easily one of our favorite meals in Lisbon. The food across the board was excellent--every dish we tried was flavorful, well-prepared, and felt thoughtfully put together. You can tell there's real intention behind both the menu and execution. What really elevated the experience, though, was our waiter, Bernardo. He brought incredible energy to the table--full of personality, engaging, and genuinely fun to interact with. daPrata52 is a fantastic Tapas restaurant to at is definitely worth a visit. It comes with some rules--each is customer is required to order at least 2 tapas that are about a half meal each--then you can share them. I had read in Yelp that lines could be long, but we arrived early. They have a little red rope at the door where they explain the rules. The interior is kind of eclectic. They have wines at three price points, we got a really nice bottle of red called Pops reserve. For the tapas, we ordered the assorted cheeses, octopus risotto, duck breast with chips (not normally on the menu), and ceviche. All were superb. We started with the duck and ceviche. The duck was braised perfectly and seasoned well, wonderful. Then the ceviche had swordfish and tuna. I am not normally a sword fan, but this was very tasty. Next up were the cheese and risotto. The risotto was incredible, buttery and delicious. The cheese plate had 5 cheeses of different intensity. All were great, particularly the goat ones. One of our best meals in Lisbon. We went here for a late dinner, after reading reviews that this place always has a long queue. There was no line at 9 pm but we did have to wait ~10 mins for our table. We ordered 2 dishes per person as they required: veggie chickpea tempura, squid salad, beef cheeks, and grilled chorizo with orange sauce, which they grilled right next to us. Regretted not taking a video. Everything was delicious! My favorite was the squid salad: fresh, tart and the squid was perfectly done. My companion's favorite was the grilled chorizo. The chorizo was crispy, salty, perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the orange sauce. The waiter explained ingredients of the food. DaPrata52 has a super cute vibe with an interesting interior design, but that's about where the positives end. On the day we visited, the restaurant was not very busy, yet the wait for the food was slow. Adding to the frustration, you have to pay for water, and they don't even offer tap water for free. A major point to note is that they expect you to order at least two dishes per person, which was a bit surprising. We took the waiter's suggestion and ordered the Goat Meat Croquettes with Sweet Chili Sauce (his personal favorite), along with Sirloin Steak and Sauteed Vegetables. The Goat Meat Croquettes were a letdown. Despite the intriguing name, they were just fried shredded goat meat with a bland chili sauce. They were edible, but definitely not worth the hype or the price. The Sirloin Steak, however, was a pleasant surprise--it was cooked perfectly and came with a nice egg yolk on top, along with thinly sliced potatoes. The steak itself was delicious, but the potatoes were overly salty and made it hard to enjoy the final bites. The Sauteed Vegetables were pretty mediocre. The presentation was nice with thinly sliced veggies arranged neatly, but the taste was underwhelming and did not stand out in any way. Overall, the meal was expensive and did not live up to expectations. I wouldn't recommend daPrata52 based on this experience and wouldn't return. read more

Truly my favorite meal in Lisbon, and perhaps on my entire trip around Portugal. The variety of dishes is great and portions are good (each dish is about 1/2 portion of a regular dinner). Each person at the table is required to order minimum two dishes, which is no problem since it's tapas and trying more food is better. Absolutely fantastic! Our favorite restaurant while visiting for a month in Lisboa. Open for both lunch and dinner. Fantastic wine selection. THE best cod fish cakes! Great texture. Octopus was fantastic served with some kind of ratatoulie and fresh tomatoes. The server also gave us amouse bouche which was definitely a nice gesture. They have a craft beer and very good selection of wines and we tried both. And finally : the SCALLOPS absolutely the best scallops we have ever eaten, the delicate flavor served on a bed of peas puree was absolutely AMAZING. The freshness of the scallops was absolutely superb as our server told us they were caught in the morning and that they do not always have them in special. If you wanted to order just a snack, they will let you sit on the lower level with the smaller tables; otherwise if you wanted two dishes or more, they will let you sit in the upper level. We have had our eye on daPrata52 for better than a year. It was a Lisbon bucket list restraint when we were planning a trip that was postponed due to the pandemic, and expectations had built. The stars of this show were the black pork cheek, so tender it melted I your mouth, with a red wine reduction and potato purée. The swordfish and tuna ceviche was spectacularly fresh with just the right acidic balance. The scallops were tender nuggets of deliciousness, and the octopus risotto was just a world of flavor. While there were some stars, everything else was still great and more than just a supporting cast. The goat croquets were filled with flavor, the diced beef was complex and tender, and the octopus salad was a wonderful change from the typical simple octopus. Again, the environment was spectacular.
