Another fantastic meal at O Chiado. Wine was perfectly paired and the dinner was to die for. This family has something special and everyone needs to experience what they have to offer in Lisboa!

Small place with probably 15-20 seats. This looks super traditional. I am confident that no one would say this is enough space for a restaurant . I bet that a few americans would not be able to get through the door. Tables are awkwardly close to each other, but I think this is kind cool. I ordered two fried cod bites and cod a bras which is typical dish from lisbon. Bites were very good. Small, crunchy, and made to order. The cod was an interesting experience. It has eggs, onions, olives and cod. I'd eat that for brunch anytime. It is super healthy and it tastes better than most fish.

A "hidden" gem in Lisboa! A definite MUST visit. You will not be disappointed! Overall, it felt like they treated us like family during our dinner. From the food to the service, everything was wonderful and personal. I do hope it continues when you visit. My experience is below _ _ _ _ My family and I tried to book a reservation but due to some miscommunication, we were not able to book a table. Ended up stopping by to see if there was an open table. They had a last minute cancellation so in we go. Once we sat down, the dining experience began. The 2 main floor servers are exceptional! They know how to treat, serve, and answer each guest's questions. As a bonus, there is a wine director on site. He knew the best wines and the best pairings. We ordered 6 items: meat and fish croquettes, steak on stone, rack of lamb, octopus, bacalao, bread, wine, and sparkling water. Each item came promptly and was on-point! Personally, I ordered the "Steak on Stone" plate that came with fries and a slice of pineapple. For the slap of meat, you will cook it yourself. So if you like it rare or well-done, adjust accordingly. Fries were a bit on the under side, but I'll let that pass as the steak was meat-iful! Overall, it's a gem that you should go and try. Just make sure that you email and book a reservation ahead of time.

Absolutely my favorite meal in Lisbon!

My favorite restaurant in all of Lisbon! Be sure to make a reservation because they don't have many tables and book up quickly. Let's start with the people working there... I'm pretty sure it's a family run business. Two brothers run the front of house. They're both so professional and so kind. They both speak perfect English. While they're both so kind, one stuck out! The brother who was serving the food told me he had lived in New York. He was really funny and made the experience even better. The food was amazing. I had the grilled octopus and it was so tender and tasty. My husband ordered the steak and the stone. This is the closest thing we found to the juicy American steaks we are used to back at home. He loves it. The desserts were pleasant as well.

Man. I was pleasantly surprised then pleasantly let down. So it's my first day in Lisbon and this place was just a google search but I had high hopes because of the decent 4+ rating. As I walked in, I was greeted by a jovial French man who had an infectious laugh. The menu seems was separated between starters, mainland(3 things that consisted of different steaks) and ocean(Portugal seems to be known for seafood). I was told to get any sort of seafood in Lisbon because it's all apparently good. Firstly, in the starters you're forced to pay for bread, which is a thing but not that common. However, you're also charged for butter which I thought was odd. Whatever, I'm on vacay so I decide to get the bread and chorizo. And boyo this was actually really good. The chorizo had a nice Smokey flavour and was cooked really well. Tbh I wish they woulda just hoagie'd dis. Slap some of this chorizo on some buns with some grilled peppers. My partner loves a merlot but that's a French grape and that's a no no here apparently so shiraz it is! Which was apparently good. Since I chose fish, I was recommended a nice light beer that I'm sad I don't remember the name of. Ok this review has no form but whatever lol. I'm tired and jet lagged. So we get our entrees and I get the grilled cod and potatoes and my partner gets the steak and eggs. Sadly it was pretty disappointing. It was ok. Just ok. If I had anything to say about it, it would be that. The starter was so good I was expecting a flavour explosion pon mi tongue but all I got was ok. I got the impression that they just really believe in their ingredients so they said fuck seasoning lol. My cod was just grilled and had pieces of garlic and bell peppers sprinkled on top swimming in olive oil. The potatoes, no salt, no pepper. Nothing. It was all just ok.

The codfish dumpling fusion was a pleasant surprise, creamy on the inside and a nice chewy gyoza wrapper. The octopus rice was good too. A decent amount of octopus with rice in a smoked bell pepper sauce. I was disappointed by the seafood pasta soup though. I liked the mussels, but the shrimp and the clams weren't the freshest. The clams were a little mushy. It had a nice seafood stock flavor, but definitely could have used more salt and seasoning. We had mixed service from one of the female servers.

We each ordered a glass of 20 year port to celebrate my birthday and the staff overheard and brought a complimentary rich chocolate dessert. Very enjoyable meal all the way around.

It's rotisserie chicken doused with a spicy hot sauce so what's not to like? I knew it was a Portuguese-originated dish, so I looked for a place famous for it. Here on a Sunday evening, there was quite a queue extending up the cobblestone alley, so I realized this must be the place. Although it was at least thirty people deep, it didn't take more than twenty minutes for Jamie W and me to secure a table upstairs. It was a homestyle dining room set-up that hovered between cozy and crowded depending on the fluctuating volume level. Interestingly all the servers were male, and while ours was the most junior, he consciously followed the behavior of his veteran brethren. There was no question about our main course, the 13,5€ Frango Assado No Espeto (Roast Chicken on the Spit) (Photo 7). It was tender and succulent enough albeit a bit under seasoned, all the more reason to pour a liberal dose of the piri piri sauce (Photo 8). Our sides were simple but shareable, the 3,2€ Batata Fritta (French Fries) (Photo 9) and the 4,3€ Salada Mista (Mixed Salad) (Photo 10). Both were fine, though we really wanted to try their Cream Spinach. They were already out of it in the kitchen. We were quite satisfied nonetheless, and their service pretty much worked like clockwork. Jamie and I agreed we'd definitely come back if the passion for poultry strikes us on a return trip to Lisbon. In the meanwhile, I'll just do a run to Costco, buy a rotisserie chicken, and dream of Portugal. A small line of one or two groups at a time formed throughout the night. We were seated outside and there was a street performer with an acoustic guitar - def added some great vibes to the night. It was a chilly December night but the heater provided *just enough* warmth. We ordered the codfish cakes which were alright - nothing too special. Since it was a little cold out, I also ordered the chicken broth. It was bland, but good in its own way. There was some rice and chicken bits in it that tasted really good. The rotisserie chicken that they are known for was EXTREMELY salty. We were a group of 6 and ordered 2.5 rotisserie chicken (so 5 pieces) but this was actually way too much. It's a little better (but still salty) if you don't eat the skin, but that's the best part given how crispy it was! I tried to drown out the saltiness by using the piri piri sauce and it helped a little bit... but biting into the chicken meant biting into the undissolved salt bits. Given how salty it was, we could not finish it at all and left behind 3 pieces. Service itself was meh. They made sure to inform us that the tip was not included in the bill.

I aspire, as an American, to learn from and look up to other cultures. I feel very honored to have dined in a restaurant managed by him on our trip to Portugal. I'm going to recommend to our travel coordinator to add this restaurant to the Google map recommendations list because more people need to go to this place - they need more tables, more space, because I'm convinced this is such a hidden gem that should be exposed to the masses to enjoy! We visited several wineries and this restaurant had the best wine - bar none! The fish, a fish I hadn't tried before, was deliciously seasoned, falls apart with the fork, the creamy rice was just divine. I normally will never eat little cherry/grape tomatoes - ever - but the perfect bite of fish, creamy rice, and a tomato was... perfection. The menu is deeply curated; flavors - textures - wines that make sense. You can tell Frederico what you normally like and he 100% knows what wines he has that you will love. The tomato, orange, ham, salad, was absolutely balanced and delicious. I'm so grateful that our first trip to Portugal we got to meet Frederico and dine with these wonderful people who love food and wine as much as us. I'll never forget it as long as I live.
