My recent trip to Lisbon was filled with fascinating sights and sounds, but one experience truly stands out: a delightful dinner at Oficina do Duque. It wasn't just the delicious food that certainly played a part. What made the evening truly special was how it brought together the diverse cultural flavors of my friends and me, perfectly blending them with the restaurant's unique offerings. We hailed from all parts of the world: France, Congo, Poland, Nigeria, Germany, and the United States. As you can imagine, our culinary preferences spanned the globe. Yet, Oficina do Duque managed to cater to each of us with exquisite grace. A Fusion of Charm and Sophistication The restaurant's ambiance itself was a delightful fusion. Stepping inside was like entering a warm embrace of traditional Portuguese charm infused with a touch of modern sophistication. The cozy yet stylish setting, dim lighting, and soothing background music instantly put us at ease. It felt like the perfect refuge after exploring Lisbon's streets. Service with a Smile Our server, Nikki, from Brazil, deserves a special mention. Her warm and engaging personality immediately made us feel welcome, and her knowledge of the menu was awe-inspiring. She patiently guided us through the unique offerings, recommending dishes that perfectly catered to our varied tastes and dietary restrictions. Nikki's attentiveness, without being intrusive, added another layer of charm to the evening. A Culinary Canvas of Flavors The menu at Oficina do Duque was a revelation. It was a creative tapestry woven from traditional and contemporary Portuguese cuisine, each dish a work of art on a plate. For example, the Meagre rice and coriander dish was a symphony of textures and flavors, the delicate fish perfectly complementing the fragrant rice and vibrant coriander pesto. Then, there was the oxtail-rich spear and chicaros dish. The slow-cooked oxtail melted in our mouths, its richness balanced beautifully by the earthy notes of the chicaros and the tangy chimichurri sauce. Every bite was a testament to the chef's culinary skill, a delightful dance of spices and ingredients that left us wanting more. More Than Just a Meal Oficina do Duque is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's a place where cultures come together, flavors burst on the palate, and laughter fills the air. It's a place that celebrates the diversity and richness of life, just like the blend of cultures in our group that evening. So, whether you're a local or a traveler, I urge you to add Oficina do Duque to your Lisbon itinerary. With its warm ambiance, exceptional service (a big shoutout to Nikki!), and, most importantly, it's delicious and innovative cuisine, it's an experience you won't soon forget.

We walked in without a reservation before 6 pm and somehow snagged the last table for two. Several groups were turned away shortly afterwards, so it'd be wise to make a reservation. For food we ordered the chicken, beer and citrus appetizer, codfish, and oxtail. The chicken, beer and citrus app was well seasoned but the chicken itself was overcooked. Cod was perfectly cooked and very tender but flavor wise it was too bland for my liking. I wished there was more acidity to the dish. The oxtail was definitely the highlight of our meal. The meat was tender and I liked the balance of savory and sweet. The different textures also played well together. All things considered, this was a pretty average meal. I wouldn't put Oficina do Duque on my list of must-try restaurants in Lisbon

Perhaps the best meal we had in Lisbon. Every dish on the menu was incredibly creative and absolutely fantastic. The food was so great we came two nights consecutively. The pumpkin soup with pip n cottage cheese is a must order. It consisted of all the flavours one can imagine - sweet, salty, savory, creamy. Wow . Just wow! I've never eaten an entree at restaurant that planted a scoop of mint gelato on top of couscous and lamb. The experience of flavors was unique. It makes me want to start putting ice cream on top of everything. The best entree in my opinion was the oxtail. No fork needed. The oxtail was tender as can be and was accompanied by a corn? Which was excellent . Lastly, the cod. A Portuguese staple. Cooked to perfection and paired with lentils. Amazing as well.

We try to avoid restaurants along the tourist traps but after reading good reviews, we decided to give it a try. Great location with plenty of outdoor seating. Our waitress (tall with glasses) was great! However, my fish of the day was over cooked and the white purée sauce (onion cream?) tasted weird. The lamb dish was good but nothing to write home about.

The oxtail dish was very tender and delicious

We came for a late lunch and had good food and a decent overall experience. The oxtail entree was very tender and tasty, and my friends enjoyed the fish, too. The pasta dish was actually just one large noodle, enchilada-style. The service was very inattentive, and we had to find people to help us with the order. Pretty slow, too, but I suppose that's Portuguese time haha!

My dish was one of my favorite pork dishes from a 9-day trip. I liked the contrast between the caramelized pork in balsamic sauce and the celery purée. Get the bread with duck pate for a great starter for just under two euros. The restaurant has some fun outdoor seating not far from a nice view of the castle.

Super delicious hidden gem! It was quite a hike up to the restaurant but definitely worth it! We arrived about 645 and were able to be seated right away. We had the bread and duck pate. The crostini-like bread was delish, I wasn't a huge fan of the pate but my husband liked it. My steak was absolutely tasty. It was perfectly cooked and the little bit of sauce it was on was perfection. It was salty and juicy and so so good. The runny egg it came with actually was great to dip my fries in. My husband had the oxtail and said it was great. For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and it was perfection - the best mousse I have ever had. 100% recommend making the hike to this place.

Loved this pace. On our second day, we got smart about checking reviews and just walking into places and being disappointed. This looks lace was highly rated, understand why. Small place, you need reservations. A memorable dinner.

Our second trip to Lisbon and 2nd time dining here. Nice outdoor dining option in the era of COVID, but had to settle for indoor next to an open window due to the place being reasonably busy. Waiter was very nice in a sarcastic way. Good options for red wines by the glass. This time, started with a duck pate served with toasted and buttered bread as well as fresh bread for only $1.65 euros! Sorry forgot to take a picture I was so hungry. We then had a number of entrees: 1. the chicken pasta which was beautifully presented rolled in a pastry and my daughter really enjoyed it 2. Seared tuna which was presented on an amazingly smooth and creamy mashed potatoes with slightly crisped root vegetable strings. Also quite tasty 3. Hamburger and cuttlefish burgers aka sliders were quite good and my son plowed through these. 4. And the steak which was nicely seared and served with fries and a poached egg. Also quite good Unfortunately no room for dessert. So definitely recommend making the climb to this little neighborhood gem restaurant tucked into a cute corner with super nice staff and fantastic food and wine choices at amazingly reasonable prices!

This restaurant was within a block from our hotel in Lisbon so we stumbled upon it while walking around. It's located centrally in the Chiado neighborhood and close by many major attractions. During our 3 day stay in Lisbon we came twice because we liked it so much. Our first night we shared a soup as appetizer but my favorite dish was the oxtail. I've had oxtail soup a lot because it's a regional dish in my country but I've never had oxtail as tender and flavorful as the one here. The menu is really creative and they have many interesting pairings including lamb with mint ice cream and couscous. I recommend sitting outside. The only downside which is not the restaurants fault is that on our second night while having dinner a lot of guests were smoking and it definitely made us rush through food and wanna leave. If this place had a no smoking policy it would be perfect. If you visit Lisbon this is a great place for dinner.

Amazing modern style food. It is quite a trek to get up to the restaurant with so many steep steps if you walk. The food was worth the hike up and service is more attentive than most restaurants in Lisbon. The pork cheek with celery purée and grapefruit is ok but definitely try the oxtail dish and fish of the day. For dessert my favorite was the chocolate mousse which was incredibly creamy with a dash of salt to balance out the flavors.

This place is absolutely amazing. I had the duck plate with bread as an appetizer and shared the steak and chicken plate with my significant other. For dessert, I had the chocolate moose. Everything was gone in 3 seconds and was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend this place.

The restaurant was quaint and intimate , with a small buffet that easily fills you up. There were many options from a beef stew to a curry, a noodle dish with bacon, salad, and other options. They even explained the options to us. I truly wish we had more time in Lisbon because I would have definitely returned to try it again as the options differ nightly. I would definitely recommend this to all in Lisbon.

Cozy, almost romantic atmosphere. And just €16 per person for all you can eat! The menu changes nightly so here were the stars for me: Creamed cod. Might not sound appetizing but this was insanely good. Not too fishy. Veggie lasagna - really great flavors and you sneak in some vegetables. All the sides: mashed potatoes were delicious, the rice is a staple, the couscous was perfect, the carrot soup made me say DAMN! The service was amazing. The two gentleman there ran an entire packed restaurant effortlessly. Helping customers with drinks, explaining the concept and each dish to every person that came in. We washed it down with a pitcher of white sangria (drinks and desserts are extra). We literally couldn't move. We walked back to the hotel instead of taking an Uber simply to walk some of it off. One of the most memorable meals I had in Lisbon.
