Possibly the best croissants that I've ever had, including France. I kid you not, these house made croissants are the flakiest, melt in your mouth, best! The locally owned shop is dang cute and tiny. You walk right into the kitchen and order off the bakers rack. The staff was friendly and helpful to us first timers. We picked up a savory ham and cheese croissant and one of their popular cinnamon rolls. The pastries are pricey but huge and shareable. The cinnamon roll melts in your mouth. The icing is light and addictive. There is a charming natural garden and patio with seating to sit, relax and eat outside. They also sell fresh assorted breads. Parking is limited in their tiny reserved lot. There were four spaces. If I lived closer, I'd be here every morning. It's that good.

If you haven't tried Rene's you haven't tried anything! Rene's is a good little bakery with only space to order takeout. Their croissants aren't the usual croissants, it's syrup flavor and croissant in a wholesome combination! Warm syrupy and delicious in every layer! Rene just was worth the hype! I ordered a brownie too which was chewy fudgy with the right amount of chocolatiness! Service is super quick if you go right after opening! Rene's serves a variety of fresh bread too and has a good menu ready for you to make a choice.

Amazing baked goods fresh and aromatic! Just walking up you can feel like you're on the streets of Paris entering a shop. Awesome bread and breakfast options. Can't wait to slice the wheat after digging into the pumpkin muffin and frosted cinnamon roll. Awesome!

This is the place to be for pastries. We arrived on a Saturday morning and there was a long line of people waiting. The storefront is very small so only a couple customers can stand inside at a time. Overall, it was a bit overwhelming. I wish they had a menu posted outside that you could read while waiting, as it did take a while for us to get through the line. Once inside the display case was empty, and the employees ask what you'd like... and well you can't see anything and there was no menu. All the pastries we tried were delicious!

When I moved to Indy a little over a year ago, I was excited to try Rene's and never quite found a time in my schedule to visit before they closed. Now that they are open again, I have enjoyed several delicious visits and can definitely see what all the fuss is about. So far I've only tried the pastries, but every one was a beautifully laminated, perfectly flaky, wonderfully flavored treat. I've had their plain buttered croissants, blackberry danish, vanilla croissant, almond croissant, almond-filled pan au chocolat, and more, each with its own distinctly yummy flavors. My favorite so far is the vanilla croissant, since it has a much lighter sweetness. Everyone at the bakery is very friendly and kind, helping you pick out exactly what you're craving that day. The place is tiny, so only a couple groups are allowed in at once, which is also something I love since I often get to have short little chats with other pastry-goers. There is a real sense of community here and I love it!

Small and cute bakery. I tried the butter croissant decent, though I prefer Amelia's. The wheat rolls were great, especially with butter. Quick, friendly service. Worth checking out!

Blueberry one was the best one of the ones we had, but wish it was warm and toasted! It was also the flakiest of the three. Not enough filling in the other two croissants and the croissant parts weren't flakey enough (more bready / chew) but some people like that style. I prefer an ultra buttery and flakey layers in mine. No seating inside, but there's cute chairs and tables outside. There's a sink inside where you can wash your hands before (and after) eating your sweets. Seems like a fun local spot!

Rene's is a local GEM! We love to treat ourselves, come here, and try a bunch of different pastries they have. Everytime we go it's something different, and everything is good. We particularly love the baguettes and the tarts. The croissants are also delicious. The staff is so personable and upbeat. Only thing to note is it's VERY small so only a few people can fit at a time. Parking is also scarce. But it's so worth it!

Best bakery in town. After Albert's passing, they have picked up the pieces, and are again at the top of the class.

Ask the Community - Rene's Bakery

Does Rene's provide baked goods to other restaurants in Broad Ripple/Indy? Sometimes I've come across other places with pastries and whatnot and they either look or taste very familiar.

Yes, these are quite a bit pricer that's for sure. People were buying one of everything in line. I was like wow! Some Items the combinations of flavors didn't appeal to me. I love tiramisu and pecan pie so I got them both. One suggestion I would have is to have utensils and napkins at the table for people to use. The pastries I bought are really temperature sensitive and need to be kept cold. Both had a cream - mousse inside. They wouldn't last long only a day or to the next. I loved the pecan item I ordered. It was great! The tiramisu one I wouldn't order again. The bottom flakey part was so bitter. I love coffee and expresso and tiramisu. But, the whole thing just wasn't what I thought it would taste like. Now I know. :-( Creamy, sweet, smooth, with a kick of coffee all come together to make a great tiramisu. This is what most people love about it. I don't know if they are planning on opening a store or not. The pop ups are doing well it seems. I will try other items whenever I can get to one of the pop ups.

What went from ordering 1 pastry each turned into 8 total.. and we regret nothing. The Tiramisu Danish was exactly as I had hoped for! The bitter taste of espresso paired with the sweet mascarpone cream filling reminded me of the holidays when I would watch my mom make tiramisu for our family. While a lot of people prefer a sweeter espresso, I thought this was perfect and very true to a traditional tiramisu taste The Pear Kouglof reminded me of a fresh yeast donut that's been tossed in sugar This was a very kid-friendly pastry in taste and while I wasn't too blown away by it, it did make me wonder if I would have preferred it with a stronger, more potent, fruit. The Cherry Basque Cheesecake -- this pastry was the house favorite. The texture of this cheesecake was creamy, but somehow still spongey.. cakey, but more like pudding. Mix that with the juiciest sour cherries and the crunch of a biscoff crust.. mind blown was an understatement. We're looking forward to what Beurre Sec has planned for their next pop-up

I've driven by the Bakery, so many times and wanted to stop, but I was always in a hurry. My sister and I went in and we each got a dessert and because it was four in the afternoon, we got decaffeinated coffee. We just took our time and looked around and laughed at so many signs and odd little things that were placed over the years. On the way to the ladies room, you will find out that the gentleman that started the restaurant fought in one of the world wars, and you will see his worn out shoes, his uniforms, his letters of accommodation and Learn his story. Now let's get to the desserts. We shared some type of a wonderful lemon pastry and a black forest cake. Best black forest cake I've ever had. Savored every bite. We were able to buy the last of the springle's that they had made from Christmas. FYI, if you don't like black licorice don't buy Springerle's but you can only get them at Christmas because it's a German tradition and they won't work in the summertime because of the humidity. Things that I learned that day. We saw that they had a dinner menu with a huge variety of different bratwurst and assorted sausages that we would like to try sometime.
