Circle City Sweets has a popular booth at the Carmel Farmers Market. This is where I had my first one of their amazing croissants. This week I got to the market early so I could talk to the staff about the daily options. They had a wonderful selection of fresh breads, cookies, granola, croissants and more. The clerks are friendly and helpful. I picked up several croissants that were absolute eye candy. These croissants easily rival those I've had in France. My family spilts them, so we can taste each. The ham and cheese savory croissant was buttery and delicious. The croissant melted in my mouth. My favorite was the cherry and pistachio croissant. The cherries were fresh and tart. The edges were perfectly caramelized. The raspberry croissants were huge and a hit with my granddaughters. The ingredients taste high quality. The line is long and check-out is a bit slow. But the clerks make an effort to connect with each guest. You've got to get there early for the best selection. I can't think of a better breakfast on a beautiful morning. read more

I received this sweet little 6-pack of macaroons, and sweet is the operative word! The flavors of this group (see my pics) are subtle but the little sandwich cookies are still light and retian their slightly crunchy outside and soft interior. I've walked by this location a number of times, but never stopped until recently, I'm glad I did since they serve one of my favorites, macaroons! I experienced Circle City Sweets via the winter Carmel Farmers Market. They have a booth there with some of their delicious offerings. Someone on their team posted a photo of a cherry bourbon kringle to their Instagram, and within minutes I was sending my husband over to the farmers market to get one. And we snagged the last one! Me and that cherry bourbon kringle were meant to be. I had never had a kringle before tasting the one that Circle City Sweets made. If you've never had a kringle, it's a dense pastry with icing on top. My kringle had ribbons of bourdon-soaked cherries, but Circle City Sweets also sells five or six other kringle flavors. I'd love to try some of the other things that CCS sells, because I was very happy with my kringle! I think this pastry is only around during Christmas, so if you see it, you should get it. read more

I visited the AMP on Thursday for lunch and while I was there I stopped at Circle City Sweets. I stopped to look in the window at all their treats and one of the gals that was working behind the counter asked me if I needed anything and she was very helpful and nice. I found that they had macarons in flavors that I had not tried so I got a couple of those to go. The flavors of the macarons were cashew Sriracha lime and the other was apple butter buttercream. As I ate my way through the cashew Sriracha lime macaron you could feel a little bit of heat building and I found it very interesting and a good. I also picked up a loaf of country white bread and they slice it for you for free. On the counter they had a menu of items that they are going to have over the December holiday period and she said that would not be all of them they would be adding more things as time went along. I taught myself to make macarons a couple years ago, it is not easy. The gal that was baking in there had a couple tips for me and I gladly will give them a try. Next time I am in the AMP I we'll stop here again and check out the other macaron flavors as well as the bread selection. read more

So I came to the Amp with my colleagues, this is the first stand when you walk into the building, they have so many beautiful desserts, I got the crème brûlée, one of the bakers burnt the sugar in front if me, which was pretty cool! When I tried it, I felt like the crust was way too thick, and I decided to remove it, as it was too much, underneath it, there was still a whole layer of raw sugar waiting for me. I still decided to eat it, the top of the crème brûlée was cooked well, it was firm, but not too firm, however the middle and bottom were very runny and uncooked. I visited your shop on Wednesday December 4,, 2024 at around 2pm. This would've been my third visit since the first week of October. I'm always scan your glass case of goods as I come in, before making my way to Butlers Pizza which is my main objective. Upon leaving I decided to indulge myself with the last two key lime tarts you had and two slices of your triple chocolate cake for my chocoholic wife. You may recall her as she never wants me to get her anything and then we argue about who's paying, as she wants to say my money is no good. LOL Moms the less there were 3-4 older black guys making a small purchase and as they were doing so, I was looking over the counter display near the entry. The young female with large glasses looked at me a couple of times while she was attending the gentlemen, which only one was buying a small item. During this time a white female came up next to me, spoke and she too was looking in the glass case. As the sole worker was ringing the man out and getting him a spork, I stepped up to place my order and she turned from me and immediately went to the female who hadn't been there 5mins to my plus 10mins and proceeded to take her order. I looked in astonishment that I could've been so blatantly ignored, disregarded and dismissed! The worker looked up from the center working table and said "I didn't know you were next." My replay was "I've been standing here for several minutes waiting for you to finish up with these guys. I'm not just standing here for my health." She apologized and I told her that's okay, I won't be buying here again, at least not today." I left out very heated! My attitude and feelings were, she should've stopped and told the lady I had been there before her, which the lady knew this, and told her she would finish her order after she took care of me and worked expeditiously to do so. I know the lady probably didn't spend as much as I planned to spend, which I'm impulsive, but I can clearly say on that day, if she made no more sales that day, she lost a good one! I think it all was done in poor taste and can cause one to think privilege overlooks patronage. Will I return as a customer? Not if this young lady is working the counter. read more

There are soooo many options of baked goods. I ended up going with this type of lemon meringue cake and macarons. They were delicious!! Cindy, the owner, is one of the sweetest and driven people you will ever meet. I went to the AMP to get treats from them and it was such a vibrant place to be! I'm so glad this is near my workplace! I was greeted as soon as I walked up and was able to get my order quickly which was a plus since I was on my way to work in the morning. So dangerous or lucky that Circle City Sweets is one of the 1st booths when entering AMP 16. It's always my 1st stop since I started coming to the Winter Farmers market. Get there early on Saturday's, or order in advance as items go quick. So far I've tried Almond, Chocolate, Coffee, Raspberry and Ham & Cheese Croissants. All excellent choices so far. I've also tried the oatmeal raisin bread and just picked up the multigrain sourdough. They can get busy so maybe go during the week or visit any of the other venues they supply. Circle City Sweets is the second half of my perfect morning routine at The AMP. I've snacked through their menu and haven't found something I don't like yet. Their loaves of bread are fresh, delicious- and sliced if you want it to be. Every croissant option - amazing. But the best of all - the kouign-amann and the cream puffs. I came here last weekend to check out their new space at the Amp market. They are currently the only ones there but that just gave me more time to take in all the tasty foods that they have there. We chatted with Liz when we got there about the history of Circle City Sweets and she recommended that we definitely check out the croissants there. We grabbed an almond croissant and a sourdough bread. The croissant was delicious, a good balance of breadiness from the dough and the sweetness from the almond filling. The sourdough was also really tasty. It was perfectly airy and had a really good crumb. The prices there were good, the baked goods were awesome and chatting with Liz made the whole experience better. Can't wait to go back! read more

Cindy, Bronte, and Circle City Sweets exceeded my expectations. We had a private macaron class for a bachelorette party with 13 ladies. Going into the class, everyone was excited to learn how to make macarons. By the end of the class, we were smitten by Cindy's passion, knowledge, ability to teach and lead, and witty banter. Is there a sixth star if so Circle City Sweets deserves one. I stumbled across their location at the AMP on a recent visit. I love bread so I had to try a loaf and my son wanted a macaron. They also had the cutest easter cookie and while I was there I had to get a french pastry myself. Everything looked great. My pastry was fantastic and I wasted no time trying some bread with cherry jam later that afternoon. I was excellent too. My so. ate the macaroon on the ride home and said it was excellent too. I purchased an early Valentine's Day treat for me and my hubby, a large heart-shaped macaron. They had other heart-themed treats, too. It was the perfect end to our dinner at home. Also bought a round loaf of their artisan white bread which they'll slice for you, making it easy to use for sandwiches. Everything was delicious. Their menu of macarons looked enticing, but I restrained myself. Then I had to overlook a beautiful stand full of sweet pastries as I checked out...talk about torture! Everything looked yummy. Okay, if you can find this place, it is well worth the effort to get here and the promise of the new AMP (artisan Market place) that will be convenient for all the new businesses opening in the Tech 16 development. First, Tech 16 is the west side of downtown's answer to the Bottleworks. Lots of high tech jobs with lots of creative people will be located in the area north of the river just north of IUPUI. The development is just west of the Riverside neighborhoods and will bring lots of jobs (within walking/biking distance) for locals. Since this side of town doesn't have the amenities of food and shopping that downtown, Mass Ave, Ft Sq offer, the developers knew they needed to provide food and shopping to the employees who will fill the high tech jobs in the district. The AMP (Artisan MarketPlace) is expected to be open before race day, I heard mid-May. But you don't have to wait to explore. Circle City Sweets is already open on site. For now, there is limited free street parking out front, but a new side road will be built to give access to a 1000 space parking garage behind the complex. The bakery is still run by the same folks who had the shop in City Market, so you know it is so good. The only negative I had was that they don't sell beverages here. Good thing Tinker Coffee should be one of their new neighbors in the AMP. Okay, from downtown, take Indiana Avenue northwest over the River. Just before you get to 16th Street, turn left (south) at Gent Street and it goes right to AMP and Circle City Sweets. Go now to avoid the rush and grab one of the free parking spots on Gent. Just follow the signs into the bakery. Prices are reasonable for the high quality pastries. Note that this isn't a donut shop. Circle City Sweets is my favorite pastry shop in the city! You can find their pastries at their storefront in The Amp, the Carmel Farmer's market on Saturday mornings, or at various coffee shops and restaurants around town! Circle City has delicious croissants in a variety creative flavors, beyond the usual plain, almond, and chocolate. I love the pistachio and the cinnamon roll croissants! They have a really tasty chicken salad, if you want something to go with your croissants! Or if you're looking to try something new, I recommend the kouign amman (queen aman). It's a special pastry from northwest France that's not found at many bakeries. Chef Cindy, the owner and head pastry chef at Circle City Sweets, also offers hands on classes a few times per month! I recently took a macaron class and went home with 100+ incredible macarons in 5 seasonal flavors made by myself and my fellow classmates. Wow! There are a lot of steps to making macarons. They are little treasures, each bite full of goodness! Chef gave tons of tips for making the best macarons and baking in general! I have been buying treats at the Broad Ripple farmers market all summer and it's about time I left a review. Their sourdough is beautiful and delicious, I've been eating it with thick slices of heirloom tomatoes all summer. The croissants are also amazing, layered and flaky melt in your mouth. Raspberry goat cheese is a favorite and the ham and cheese is perfect with a cup of coffee. I will have to visit a different location once the summer markets wrap up! read more
