Random time but lovely day trying Bake sale Indy. Their chocolate croissant is SO WORTH THE HYPE! it's so massive that 3 people can almost eat and the chocolate, don't even get me started on it. That's the chocolate I would love to have all the time. Bitter dark and so delicious with the flaky goodness of croissant. It was an absolute treat to try Bake Indy. I also tried their pie, I should say not too sweet and so delicious! I highly recommend it and will go back again!

There's just nothing quite like a great plug. No, not the kind you stick into a power outlet--I'm talking about a "plug" in the modern vernacular: a reliable source. Someone who's got what you need, when you need it. You know, like when you're in high school and you accidentally forgot to brush your teeth... or maybe you went a little too hard on the onions at lunch right before English Lit with that really cute girl you wanted to talk to. But you knew you could count on your friend with the good gum to have your back. That's a great plug. Allow me to introduce you to my new baked-goods plug: Bake Sale Indy. Lately, I've been irrationally frustrated by baked-goods vendors I see on Instagram, only to discover they're open from 10:15 AM to 12:07 PM on the second Thursday of the fourth month when the sun is red and a one-eyed cat meows twice. I'm not out here looking for Diagon Alley--I just want a chocolate croissant that doesn't look pre-packaged. Bake Sale Indy, however, is open Wednesday through Sunday from 8am-2pm, which already puts them in elite territory. I had heard about it but finally stopped in on my way to an appointment off Allisonville Road. Everything looked incredible, but once I saw "caramel latte danish," nothing else mattered in the world. The flaky, buttery layers were perfectly complemented by the creamy filling and mocha balls on top--rich without being heavy, indulgent without being over the top. One of those pastries that makes you stop mid-bite and reassess your priorities. I'm not gonna lie--I almost didn't want to leave a review because I kind of wanted to keep this place to myself. But alas... everyone deserves a good plug.

The hype is real about Bake Sale Indy! The pastries are artistic with a unique blend of flavors. The breads are chewy and crave worthy. Southern-trained, Chef Cuyler Reeves has raised the bar for area bakeries. The bakery is small, upscale and trendy near 62th and Allisonville Road. There is no seating inside, but there are a few benches outside to enjoy a pastry. Most patrons take their orders to go. I could not wait to dig in so opted to eat on the outdoor bench. The case is filled with amazing croissants, biscuits and Reeves rendition of pop tarts. Tempting pies and cakes fill another case. The bread shelf was almost empty but additional bread was available behind the counter. I selected a strawberry lemon pop tart. The tart was the best sticky mess that I've sunken my teeth into. The crust was buttery and flaky, the lemon curd was subtle and the strawberry topping was fresh and sweet. My husband had one of the enormous Southern buttermilk biscuits. The biscuit was crusty on the outside, but soft and flaky on the inside - a winner in my book. I also grabbed a loaf of the sourdough bread, at the recommendation of fellow Yelper, Nicole. The bread is airy and doughy delicious, great for sandwiches or morning toast. There's plenty of parking in the small strip mall. I'll be a regular at the shop.

Got several things to include a couple chocolate croissants. I feel like any bakery that sells croissants should be judged on those. These were crisp with a good ratio of chocolate to croissant. They use good chocolate. I actually ate mine the next day and warmed it up in the microwave for a few seconds. Despite these conditions normally affecting the quality, these were still good!

I was having brunch at Fire and Ice Cafe when my friend told me about Bake Sale Indy which is in the same strip mall. I had never heard of Bake Sale Indy, so of course, I had to come check it out. This is a small bakery in a strip mall off of Allisonville Road, but what a display of pastries and pies that had available for purchase. The pecan pie is their best seller from what my friend told me, but I did not see one available for purchase. They did take orders for Thanksgiving from what I could see, and the orders were pulling up for pecan pies based on what I heard from the staff. They had a special feature where they had a box of day old sourdough bread that was complimentary to anyone who wants a loaf of bread, no questions asked. Since people are going through hard times, this was a wonderful idea to help those who are in need for food and I thought it was a very nice gesture for the bakery to offer this to people. The selection of croissants and muffins was very impressive, along with the variety of sourdough breads. I decided to get a loaf of the cherry almond Sourdough bread, along with a pecan pie monkey bread and a slice of sweet potato pie to go. Everything was pure heaven!! The cherry almond Sourdough bread was extremely fresh and delicious. The pecan pie monkey bread was fluffy and fresh, and tastes amazing! The sweet potato pie was one of the best sweet potato pies I have ever had in my life! It had just the right amount of sweet potatoes and the taste was impressive in my mouth! I will come back to Bake Sale Indy just for the sweet potato pie, but will try to get the pecan pie as well because I do want to see how good it really is according to my friend. A wonderful bakery in Indy and you definitely get your money's worth for what you pay for, so it is a win-win for the customer. Come check it out!

I absolutely love that Bake Sale Indy has opened a storefront in the neighborhood! I love the location, it's easy to get to and has tons of parking. If you frequent the Broad Ripple farmers market you'll find Bake Sale Indy there on Saturday. With that being said, the storefront is not open on Saturday. I do wish they had weekend hours. The staff was very friendly when I walked in and went over all the bread and pasty offerings for the day. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious and the storefront looked great.

Loved that this had some great gifts and food items to peruse, as well as great coffee drinks to choose from. Whoever you are... thank you. You changed my life. The sweet woman behind the counter heard where I was from and handed me a complimentary glazed yeast donut. Let me tell you... WHEW! It wasn't even fresh out of the oven, and it still melted in my mouth. Light, soft, perfectly glazed... I knew right then I was in trouble. I ended up buying a box with blueberry cake, applesauce cake, cinnamon sugar, Bavarian cream, glazed yeast, and a few others. Everything was incredibly fresh, and at those prices, I had to double-check the menu because I thought I was reading it wrong! When I got back to my parents' house in Louisville, we warmed a few up for just a few seconds. Game over. They somehow tasted even better. My plan was to take some to church tomorrow to share... but judging by how fast they're disappearing, I may be testifying about them instead. Before I left, the woman smiled and said, "Make sure you come back when you're in town." Oh, I'll be back. I may even create reasons to drive through Indianapolis now. Long's Bakery doesn't need fancy displays or trendy flavors. They simply make outstanding donuts with friendly service and prices that make you wonder if they accidentally forgot inflation. 10/10. Worth every mile of the detour.

Yes, these are quite a bit pricer that's for sure. People were buying one of everything in line. I was like wow! Some Items the combinations of flavors didn't appeal to me. I love tiramisu and pecan pie so I got them both. One suggestion I would have is to have utensils and napkins at the table for people to use. The pastries I bought are really temperature sensitive and need to be kept cold. Both had a cream - mousse inside. They wouldn't last long only a day or to the next. I loved the pecan item I ordered. It was great! The tiramisu one I wouldn't order again. The bottom flakey part was so bitter. I love coffee and expresso and tiramisu. But, the whole thing just wasn't what I thought it would taste like. Now I know. :-( Creamy, sweet, smooth, with a kick of coffee all come together to make a great tiramisu. This is what most people love about it. I don't know if they are planning on opening a store or not. The pop ups are doing well it seems. The bitter taste of espresso paired with the sweet mascarpone cream filling reminded me of the holidays when I would watch my mom make tiramisu for our family. While a lot of people prefer a sweeter espresso, I thought this was perfect and very true to a traditional tiramisu taste The Pear Kouglof reminded me of a fresh yeast donut that's been tossed in sugar This was a very kid-friendly pastry in taste and while I wasn't too blown away by it, it did make me wonder if I would have preferred it with a stronger, more potent, fruit. The Cherry Basque Cheesecake -- this pastry was the house favorite. The texture of this cheesecake was creamy, but somehow still spongey.. cakey, but more like pudding.
