This spot is located in fountain square, but Amelia's has grown over the years and they have a couple other locations too around the city. This one is good for grab and go, unless it's nice out and then you can enjoy seating located out front. Service is friendly here. The workers are always up to answering any of my questions. They told me the olive bread is only sold on Wednesdays. I've never had it, but it sounds good. The bread I love is the focaccia. They sell it in a square loaf for $5. I like to eat this bread plain, with cheese, or make a sandwich with it. I also purchased a chocolate croissant (I love me a good chocolate croissant) and it was so flaky, buttery, and filling, very delicious. I warmed it up a bit at home and enjoyed every bite of it. Ive had a coffee from here and it was good, coffee and bread is a great combination. To get here, you have to find street parking as they don't have a parking lot. Decided to make this our second stop since we haven't been in for a while. Always such a good little visit and never know what yummy surprises are waiting for you. Today I got the olive loaf, a cherry almond danish and some pasta oh and a little cherry jam. Stir young man behind the counter was absolutely the sweetest and very welcoming. Absolutely darling. The bakery is also a store. If you need a quick corner shop they have breakfast, lunch, dinner grab and go items. The staff was super friendly and patient as I worked my way through all the pasties in the pastry case to make my selection. Another perk was how late this bakery stays open, which I believe is 8pm. I brought my family an assortment of pastries which they loved all of them. I got the sweet potato hand pie, cinnamon roll croissant, potato au gratin, apple danish, shortbread and focaccia, and I believe they all had appropriate filling to bread ratio. Just wanted to update my original review because it was eight years old! Since the last time I wrote about this Amelia's bakery location, the entire world has been in and out of a global pandemic and two American presidential elections. But most importantly: I finally tried Amelia's bread loaves, which is what I wished for myself in my original review! Dreams sometimes come true. You can't go wrong with the sourdough loaf, which is what I bought today. I also learned today that they sell milk bread by the loaf, which I'll definitely be back to try. Because I was here buying bread, I also grabbed a cinnamon sugar cookie. In the display case, it looked like the cinnamon sugar cookie would be ultra satisfying, and it was! It was tender in the middle and crispy on the edges. Amelia's knows how to strike that chewy-crispy-cookie balance. Service is quick -- it helps to know what you want here. But even if you don't, that's OK. I was there to find a bread gift for someone who just had surgery, and the kind people behind the counter helped me make up my mind. The prices have gone up over the years, but it is still well worth a stop. The quality is still second to none. This time, I had the ham and cheddar biscuit, and it was perhaps the best savory biscuit I have had. You could actually see the bits of ham in the bread, and the bread had the perfect texture. The charming little shop has breads and also a small amount of prepared goods. In addition there were a few pastries and cookies on display. I asked the friendly employee about the lavender cookie. She noted it wasn't her favorite as she's not a lavender fan. This was so refreshing to me having been to many places where everything I ask about is THE best and THE most delicious. The cookie tastes strongly of Lavender with a tiny bit of salt maybe and sweet but not too sweet. Texture is firm but crumbly and moist. Perfect! The cookie was reasonably priced at $3. I was in the Fountain square area for an event and decided to stop by Amelia's to pick up some baked goods. My good friends have rave d about Amelia's and have always had positive things to say about Amelia's, so I had to stop by and see for myself what the hoopla was all about. This is a very nice quaint shop in Fountain square that has excellent baked goods and fresh local products from local merchants. The ambiance is very nice and has a nice homestyle feeling to its location. When I walked into the shop, the woman behind the counter greeted me with a smile and asked me if I needed any assistance. I told her I was just browsing, and she responded to let her know if I needed any assistance. The variety of baked goods is extreme and very fresh. The price range is reasonable for the local merchant products depending on what you decide to purchase. I decided to get a package of pork sausage links with sage from a local merchant in Indiana, along with a loaf of focaccia bread and a couple of slices of olive oil cake. The pork sausage links were delicious and fantastic. The olive oil cake was light, fluffy, and very moist. It tasted incredible! The focaccia bread was just amazing and wonderful! Now I know why everyone raves about Amelia's. This is an excellent bakery and the local merchant products are of high quality and value. The staff are wonderful and willing to answer any questions you may have on the products or the baked goods available in the shop. Amelia's offers a great variety of baked goods (hello bread and treats) and high end groceries. Don't want a full loaf? No problem - Amelia's offers bread by half loaves as well. The financier (a French almond cake) had the perfect fluffy interior with a slightly crispy outer crust - you're not going to get a loud crunch out of it, but it's enough to hold the pastry in its shape and create a delectable texture. The pastry case has a bunch of these little treats, perfect for a mid-morning or afternoon pick-me-up. This is a little shop and bakery near Bluebeard on Virginia Avenue - one of three Amelia locations. Amelia supplies the bread used at the famous Bluebeard restaurant so we decided to try some of their baked goods that they offered. It is a very small storefront with a select few baked goods available daily. I was definitely expecting a lot more options. They also offer a daily specialty bread (see picture). The three of us split three cookies: an oatmeal pecan, a chocolate buckwheat, and a breakfast cookie. The chocolate and breakfast cookies were nothing special but the oatmeal pecan was fabulous! The texture definitely came through on that cookie and was the only one worth the $3 they charge for each cookie. We did not buy any of the goods available off to the side as they were a bit pricey and we didn't see anything we needed. Overall, this is a good bakery with delicious bread and some pretty good baked goods. Give this location a try! read more

This is our go-to spot for bread in Indy. Everything thing I have had here has always been fabulous. The breads, baguettes, cookies, and pastries are always amazing. Every time we stop in, I always get the pepperoni/salami & cheese pastry twist things (I never remember what they are called). They are my absolute favorite. I know everyone loses their mind over the choc chip cookie, but my favorites were the cinnamon brown sugar and the brown butter cookies! Something brand new was their strawberry peanut butter cake with a toasted meringue topping. HOLY MOSES IT WAS GOOD! We added a Rasberry, jalapeño rhubarb scone and a bourbon cherry danish. They have plenty of items they source from other places as well- chips, honey, spices, etc. They also have a refrigerated section with egg salads and dips. They even have a freezer with gelato. I came here this time with my mom as she wanted to pick up some bread and egg salad. The staff member helped her choose a bread that would work for it best and asked if she wanted it sliced. My go to pastry is a classic croissant. This one was delicious. I do wish it would've been a little more buttery. The classic drip coffee was perfect for it it was a beautiful morning and sitting outside enjoying this was a great way to start the weekend. The two employees working were nice and we talked about the Barbie movie. There is plenty of parking around and I love that they're open until late. Okay, I am literally obsessed. I have passed Amelia's so many times. I work in Fountain Square, but I used to work closer to Mass Ave, and I would pass their east side location all the time. I went to go grab a coffee from CF Coffee Shop during my teacher prep period, and since Amelia's is right next door, I decided to stop in and check it out. First of all, I love bread so when I walked in and was met with the delicious scent of freshly baked bread, I was more than impressed. I walked around for a minute and saw that they serve as a small grocer for some more luxury and local items. They had local lettuces, a variety of deli meats, and pasta. However, my eyes were drawn immediately to the fresh bread and pastries at the counter. I was planning to grab a half loaf of bread to take home, but when I locked eyes with the French onion Danish, I knew it was coming with me. I didn't even know savory danishes were a thing! However, now that I've had one...I think Amelia's is my new favorite pastry shop in Indianapolis. The Danish is perfectly cooked. Flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. The middle has cheese and is topped with herbs that make your mouth water, the middle is filled with caramelized onion. I can only imagine how delicious this could be dipped in hot soup. I think I need to reiterate how DELICIOUS this Danish is. I am completely sold on savory danishes, and when you try one, please make it from Amelia's! The employee who rang me up was so friendly.
