It's been awhile since I've written a review, This place needed a review. I was looking for a good mexican food place in katy, decided on this one off the overall stars given to this place. Long story short, service was good, salsa was ok, but the food...the food was nasty, I ordered the steak quesadillas. It's hard to mess them up so it's my Togo to food. The beef had no flavor, and it was saturated in grease. There was so much grease there was grease pool in the plate, and just dripping off my hand. I ate 2 of the 6 quesadillas, couldn't eat any more. Friend ordered the cheese enchiladas, she said the cheese was Velveeta, greasy and nasty. I will never eat at this place again. read more

The food is almost like a sloppy delicious. The tortilla chips taste rough, stale, and thick and rough. The salsa is too spicy and not authentic. I like a place that their salsa has variety in how spicy. Not everyone eats super spicy. Also, it should have tomatoes, onions, cilantro, (pico de gallo salsa). This salsa either green or red was yuck! The Margarita is $5.00 not bad. But, it is too sugary and not enough of the tequila. Only good thing was the chicken enchiladas. You will always be greeted at the door with "Welcome Home!" You immediately feel very comfortable in the environment. The chile con queso is one of the best I've ever had in Houston. The salsa's are just okay. My husband and I come to Tony's fairly regularly for the Little Plate's, which really aren't little. We get two cheese enchiladas, guacamole, and a taco for $7.50. It is worth every penny. The frozen margaritas are also wonderful. When you leave they will always say "see you tomorrow," and sometime's I'm tempted to go back to see them "tomorrow." read more

We are regulars here. It's got the best staff in any restaurant near it. They have always been terrific and the food is fantastic. I recommend La Gratinada, Los Camarones Adobados, or the Street Tacos. But the real reason we go here is to get their outstanding Margaritas. I get mine Italian style with a shot of amaretto and my wife gets the strawberry margarita. One and done. Good luck having just one, though. read more

I had read on various foodie sites that this was the go-to place for real Tex-Mex, so we thought we would give it a try. Went for lunch, and I have to say the food was terrible. I had my standard Tex-Mex test - tamales and cheese enchiladas. The tamales were small and very little filling ( I've had better from a can). The enchiladas also had very little cheese and it tasted like American. My wife had a fajita salad and they got the order wrong. Returned it and when they came back the fajita meat hand Ben put under heat for so long it was black and crispy. Later, I got turista! One bright note - the salsa picante was excellent. read more

This is our absolute favorite place in world to go for frozen margaritas! I have travelled all over the world and have not found a place that can beat their signature drink! Besides the great drinks, the service is incredible. My wife is a picky eater and they go out of their way to accommodate her special off the menu requests. We drive by dozens of Mexican places on our way to Tony's and it is well worth it. Take it from a true margarita snob... We have been hitting up Tony's since they opened this location years ago here in Katy. It is absolutely our go-to for the BEST TexMex in the Houston-area (even though we're not technically IN Houston). Some favorites are the fajita nachos, the cheese & beef enchiladas, the fajitas (I ask them to cook mine medium), the chalupas, the burritos especiale, guacamole, & the tacos. I LOVE their hot salsa and my 5 year old loves the mild. Chips are fresh & crispy, hold up well and are served warm. Not everyone may be used to this kind of TexMex and I feel I should mention that I was raised right here in Houston on enchiladas, tamales, and fajita burritos that are smothered in chile gravy and cheese. The plates are served hot to the touch, and since I detest tepid food, I'm always extremely happy with the temperature. The service is wonderful and we know all the servers and managers by name. Everyone is very friendly and they bring the food out FAST. I sometimes order my dish a bit special and they don't mind a bit and are very accommodating. I don't drink, so I have no experience with the margaritas. I thought it was important to note that the food alone is worth coming here! Oh, and the price is just right. I've paid twice as much at Lupe Tortilla for crappy food. One helpful tip: If you're planning on having dinner at Tony's, try to get there by 5 p.m. or earlier, as they get PACKED most nights! read more

Extremely disappointed with this place. The staff was so nice I felt bad writing this review so I stalled on writing it. I heard of rays from several people and was excited to try the "best margaritas in Katy" but our experience was bad overall. My boyfriend and I ordered two plates with fajitas, rice, beans, and tortillas and surprisingly all the food was out in five minutes... to some this may be a good thing but considering the fact that the food was dry, unseasoned and the plate was hotter than the food it's self, it was very discomforting. As we continued to the margaritas... they are not the best in Katy. The margaritas taste like they are made with ever clear or really cheap tequila. I have been sick to my stomach and throwing up all day due to food poisoning I got from eating here. Be aware !! read more

We hadn't been here in almost 3yrs after a bad chile relleno experience; however, today we had a better experience. Friendly waitstaff and even owners came by to check on us a few times. Chips needed salt, but salsa was ok & spicy. We ordered beef fajitas for 2. They were good and I was pleased that they were sizzling hot. Rice needed a little more flavor, but refried beans were okay. Flour tortillas could have been fresher. My wife and I have been back twice it's soooo good! My wife was craving Mexican and we thought we'd give it a try. I was disappointed at first when we got their as they said they didn't have Jarritos nor Agua de límon, but the food made up for the whole thing! Rice was perfect, beans where perfect. I've been coming to Tony's for about two years now. I'm sure it's made me gain at least ten pounds, but if I could give this place 100 stars, I would. The service is so fast, from the chips and salsa, to the drinks, to the meal, these people move like a well oiled machine. It gets packed because it's so good, but even when there's a wait, you never wait long. The staff is super friendly and they always come up and say hi and ask how we're doing, which I love. I went on a limb and caved on trying this place because of the reviews from fellow Yelpers! I'll tell you this the parking is kind of crowded, but you'll find something. The wait time wasn't that long when we arrived. We were quickly seated and given menus. An extensive menu. Lots of things to choose from. Light dishes, veggie options, lots of meat options. The kids menu was loaded also. We aren't drinkers so we didn't try their margaritas that they were known for. We reviewed the chips and salsa and that's where the true test lies. Good chips and salsa was pretty spicy. Even my kids couldn't dip into it. :( wish they had two to choose from. But no big deal. My husband ordered the fajitas for one, the eldest got the fried shrimp, youngest got the side order of rice and I ordered the spinach enchiladas. Fajitas for one - 4/5 they were sliced very thin but flavorful Fried shrimp - 2/5 shrimp was extra crispy, like left too long in fryer. Mexican rice - 5/5 my kiddos ate it quickly. Spinach enchiladas- 3/5 I liked it, just wouldn't order them agin. Slimy, watery, and too mushy. (But that's spinach enchiladas for you) Overall we enjoyed our visit and noticed the owners working hard alongside the staff that's always a plus. I'm sitting at my desk after a birthday lunch here with my co worker thinking that I have nothing that great to say about Tony's. It's not bad, but it's not good either. Really it's just forgettable. The salsa was decent and the Spinach Enchiladas I had were ok. The mushrooms were a little on the slimy side for me, their ingredients weren't very fresh. One of my co workers got the Spinach Quesadillas and didn't even take it to go. The birthday girl got the cheese enchiladas and said it was ok not bad. Honestly this isn't worth a trip back, I might go if others are going...might. On a bright note the service was great. Everyone there is nice and helpful. They noticed we only like one of their salsas and brought us a big bowl of it. They even offered to take something back if we didn't end up liking it. A lot of restaurants are lacking in this respect, especially in Houston. I can appreciate that and that would be one of the only reasons I would come back with someone who wanted to eat here. Absolutely The.Best.Tex-Mex restaurant in Katy. We've tried almost every Mexican restaurant in Katy, but we've decided that we won't go to the others ones anymore! Every dish was superb, but my personal highlights: 1. Pinacolada double shot was super strong, unlike the others where it's still sweet and tastes like the pinacolada mix. Really got that extra shot! Drink was fresh too! 2. Fajita beef was tender and juicy. My 1 year old was able to chew and swallow. (Usually she swallows and spits out after the flavor is gone.) 3. We got the queso flameados with shrimp. Never seen so much shrimp in my queso!!! 4. Mole enchilada - the outside was crispy!!! Usually enchiladas are soggy all the way around, but here, underneath the gooey cheese was a nice crisp layer of tortilla! Absolutely loved it! Made me curious to try their mole sauce if and when they put actual chocolate in it! All in all, taste, price, service is incomparable!!! read more

The enchilada orders have been incorrect on several occasions and the young girl who answers the phone is no help. She didn't even make an attempt to rectify the problem! She sounds like she is barely out of high school. I also found a small piece of plastic inside of my enchilada today (see pic).
