Extremely late post (2024)…read more The one good thing about post this review so late, it reminds me that we need to get back here soon. One of the best restaurants we've eaten in Columbus since we've been here. Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Everything was just right. We even sat outside and ate. Don't do that very often. The inside was nice too. Good music playing, nice bar area. I will be back.

We saw this spot and decided to hit them up for a din-din and beer on this auspicious late afternoon. We were seated and they quickly brought out a menu - including one for our pup! How cool was that? I ordered their house lager- hubby ordered chicken Caesar salad- I got chicken tenders and waffles for me with fried okra for the table- puppy got a whole chicken breast- nice! Ok the taste - I'm not a huge okra fan. But these fried little morsels were spiced up and hit the spot- hubby loved his salad while I munched down my chicken and waffles like - you know - stat! And the service was great- definitely was awesome. If you want a little taste of the south? Check this place out?

Decor is very nice for the small space. Decent ambiance given their restrictions. Ordering was straight forward and efficient. I ordered two 2 piece Chicken Dinners with two sides. Just the right spice to not distract from the flavor of the chicken. Now just an FYI The chicken is not really spicy. Not a bad thing since the Rice , Greens and Hush Puppies supply the spices. Interesting take on the dinner. They also have Catfish . Can't wait to try both the regular and the Blackened Version. Haven't had really good Catfish since we lived in East Texas and stopped on a Fish Camp restaurant on a Bayou in Louisiana before Shreveport. Three words: Country; Fried; Chicken. Wow…read more I decided to stop at this little local place while staying in town for the week based on some solid reviews (and the fact that I made some fried chicken of my own for my family last night but didn't really end up getting any before I left). I started out with a 101 Jungle Bird as I'm a rum drinker and liked the idea of a bourbon-forward one instead. I'll say that this was much more fruity than a Jungle Bird and without the bitterness (no Campari). It also didn't taste very strong but it definitely hit me pretty good. Definitely a tasty-but-dangerous one there. For food, I opted for the Country Fried Chicken. What a fantastic choice indeed. The breast was either butterflied or pounded flat but still thick enough to give a good bite. The outside was cooked to absolute perfection with a crunchy texture without being burned or underdone. The inside was tender and juicy. The whole piece was seasoned beautifully and that was even without any of the delicious white gravy. The Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes that accompanied were similarly well done with great flavor. And the cherry on top was that the portion size was PERFECT. Not a ton of carbs and things that left me feeling beyond full or guilty that I had a bunch of leftover food to likely toss. The seat at the bar was a great place to be. A handful of seats staring at nothing but a huge wall of bourbon. To your back are a series of large high tops and, unfortunately for me, on this night were full of a rather loud group. An unintended side effect of the close quarters but I'm sure not a regular thing. The place is otherwise quite cozy and comfortable and in line with the southern cooking motif. My bartender, Mike, was also very friendly and happy to chat a little about my travels and share our regional sports experiences. All in all, absolutely outstanding. Great food, wonderful staff, and an impressive drink selection. I'm looking forward to coming back here again.

Thought about the fried cornbread too, but that seemed a fried-bridge-too-far for my health... The steak was good (for someone who likes chicken fried steak.) It was a bit tough, but if you're ordering something like this you know it's not prime rib- it's well well done cheap meat. Fried. With gravy. Winter comfort food, and even on this hot day it was satisfying. The hand pie, well, the crust was perfect. The filling disappointing: thin, not enough peach. Not getting it again. Apparently they've changed the chicken back to their original way. A good thing, and a nice admission that they screwed up by changing it in the first place. I'll try that soon. Service at this location is consistently the best I've had (lately) at any HCT. No comparison to the old days, but still. Also, free tea again. If they keep working at it, they might reverse the decline.

We ordered the Apple Butter chicken sandwich with coleslaw and the Black Garlic Burger with fries. The Apple Butter chicken sandwich was very juicy. The bun to chicken ratio was good. The coleslaw was not too creamy and just had the right amount of vinegar. Black Garlic Chicken was the better of the two. It was full of umami flavor with a juicy patty. The fries were thick and crispy. The seasoning on them put it over the top. Not that I live super far from this restaurant, but for the fries to stay crispy speaks volumes. Can't wait to come dine in at Atlas Tavern.

The sandwiches were outstanding and huge. My daughter and I could have split one between us. Instead, we brought two halves home. Not sure what this place used to be. We actually got to the restaurant a little bit early and they ended up seating us outside, which was perfect. For food, I had the fried chicken sandwich with french fries and mac & cheese. My girlfriend had the chicken sandwich as well, so we each got a different side. The chicken was perfectly cooked without being overly greasy or oily. The french fries were delicious, and the macaroni and cheese was heavenly. Our server was very friendly and intensive to our needs. I felt like our food came out very quickly. I stopped by, it was early in morning, the place was empty, I saw couple of deliveries people picking up their food, the staffs was friendly, I read over the menu, I actually forgot what I ordered, because this review is way past due, maybe 3 weeks past due. But I do remember is one of them combo But first thing first, the two ladies behind the counter is really nice and friendly, I love dealing with an adult instead of those younger generation that don't care for their customers, just show up for their paycheck, if you know what I mean. Lady that serving me asked if I need some suggestion or help for recommendations, very nice and friendly. I ordered (once again I can't remember the name). The sandwich itself is very good, came with side of fruit as you can see on my photo, like I mentioned before, is a good healthy lunch, not too big of the portion. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because couple of my grapes gone bad, they should have checked and take them out before serving to the customer. Because they claim they make the orders when it comes in, so the kitchen should have spot it Overall, definitely recommend and will go back

I ordered them Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and macaroni and cheese and I also ordered the meat sauce and spaghetti and garlic toast. I had never heard of sweet potato cobbler so I had to give that a try. One thing that I noticed as I was carrying my bag to the car I noticed that the container did not feel warm. When I got home the food was barely warm so that tells me that I did not receive hot food in the first place. Anyway I just popped the food in the microwave when I got home. The Salisbury steak and the mashed potatoes were delicious. The macaroni and cheese was mushy (it had plenty of cheese, though) but I guess some people like their macaroni noodles overcooked but I prefer my noodles to have a some chew to it. The container with the meat sauce and spaghetti was so heavy, but when I opened the container it was like a pound of spaghetti and just a cup of meat sauce which made the meat sauce almost disappear when I mixed it all together. What I should have done was remove some of the spaghetti noodles before mixing the meat sauce. None of the food was hot just look warm. I have had other carryout food from other restaurants and even traveled a longer distance to get home, and the food was still hot when I got home, so that just shows that this food was not hot in the first place. I wanted to try their catfish but they did not have it so I just opted for One piece of whiting to get an idea of the seasoning of their fried fish, which was fried well. Lastly, the sweet potato cobbler was extraordinary! I will definitely return to this restaurant so that I can try the liver and onions which they only sell on Wednesdays. The customer service was excellent.
