Ive tried this place a couple times. My reason for 4 stars vs 5 is simply the inconsistency. The first time I had ribs there I didn't care for them at all, they were super dry. The second time they were amazing. I had baby back and st louis style both times. I got the spicy rub and it was super delicious. The ribs the second time were mouth watering and super delicious and meaty. I loved them. Their bbq sauces are also super tasty. My favorite thing at this place? The cornbread pudding. OH MY GOSH! SO GOOD. I could eat that corn bread all the time. Their mac and cheese is made with penne pasta and is super tasty. They run out of food pretty early, so if you want a certain meat get there early! read more

Been here several times now. Everything is fantastic. I love all of their sauces. Their Jerk Chicken sandwich was yummy and HUGE! As all of their sandwiches are. Just wish they were open more than just four days. read more

I was finally able to eat here. It took a while, not sure why, but who cares, right? Anyway, I ordered their Jerky chicken sandwich and cheesy taters, 12 Smackers! Both items was worth the 12 million Bs.F (venezuelan bolivar). Let's start with the very well seasoned Jerky chicken sandwich on a sesame bun with to very succulent, moist, juicy and plump breasts! Gotta love the breast, honestly I wasn't expecting two chicken breast on a sandwich. However, I was delighted when I saw it. My only negative with the sandwich was they were out of the onion pickled topping which normally comes on the sandwich. Instead they offered and put on their coleslaw on the sandwich. Which didn't enhance the sandwich nor did it distract from it. It was still good. Now my fave, item of the combo meal was the CHEESY TATERS. It's creamy cheese and ultra-tender potatoes made forget about the last year and it gave me a new found love and hope for the future. Seriously, you have to try it. I'm eating the cold leftovers right now and it's still fantastic. I will be back to try each item on their delicious menu. read more

This place is just phenomenal. The meat quality is just unbelievable. The Brisket is so delicious especially with the sweet BBQ sauce. The corn puddin is the best side in my opinion. The Mac and cheese is just OK. The staff is always so friendly and funny. Sometimes the line can get a bit long but they do a good job of being speedy! read more

Food gets 6 stars! The special grassfed brisket is incredible, dry rubbed spare ribs are fantastic, and I love the greens (they're spicy, meaty, and hide the fact you are eating veggies!). The only downside was getting honked at and flicked off because the parking/entrance situation is awful. No signage, they want it to be one way (enter from Home Depot only!) and if you don't follow this underground rule the other patrons will run you off. I won't make that mistake again. Keep this place busy, best Q in DaVille! read more

Stopped here last weekend to pick up a rack of ribs and a couple sides for dinner. The price was ok and the sides were better than average. The ribs however was another story. I LOVE ribs, in fact it's my go to Birthday meal for at least the last 5 or 6 years. The sauce was good but the ribs did not come off the bone well. The meat was fatty but that would have been ok if they cooked them longer. After one bite I had to stop and decided to cook them longer at home (like another hour and a half). This softened the fat up and melted some of the fat and the rib meat came apart much better. How a rib place can offer such tough meat and not know when it's ready to serve... I don't know. read more

Great Brisket, yum! Corn pudding was heavy on the pudding, while the little corn was dry.

If you ever tried ribs in any restaurant and you didn't like it. You come here and try them, you will love it. Very nice sauces and rubs, don't be afraid to try spicy dry rub, I liked it a lot. Excellent service overall. There is limited parking space so either use drive through or park it nearby and walk. read more

Mediocre and overpriced. I don't know if we went on a bad day or if the the positive reviews are written by the proprietors but our experience was less than stellar and a far cry from the BBQ Shack that this establishment has replaced. It's an awkward set up with a nearly empty drink refrigerator outside. Unless you want Diet Coke or one of several never heard of before bottled soda, your only option is overpriced bottled water. My wife and I both ordered a pulled pork sandwich with one TINY and not very good side a piece. I had the "spicy Habanero" sauce it had apparently been thinned with water because it was neither hot nor flavorful. The Baked Beans and Cole slaw were the same as the BBQ, just okay. The two sandwiches and a side and drink for each of us was $22. and change. . The proprietors and I assume their grown children were sitting at a picknic table asking people what they had ordered and what they thought of their experience as patrons left. My wife asked me to avoid them because she would have been mortified had I told them my impression in person. A two star is being somewhat generous. read more

Words cannot express my love for this little place. You just have to go there and try it yourself. But beyond the food (which is amazing), The people who run it are just good people. The type of good kindhearted people you want in this world. Go there and eat and be happy. read more

We've had the food three or four times now, just to try everything on the menu. I'm sorry to say, I enjoyed the old BBQ place at this location a lot more than the new one. The old place offered an amazing smoked cheeseburger, great smoked chicken wings, and delicious French fries. Ray Ray's has none of these and I miss them all! read more

Just okay. The meat seem to be a good cut however there was no smoke flavor whatsoever. The barbecue sauce was skimpy. Just a so-so sandwich. The bread was not the freshest. Service was good and they were polite. Just not going to be a repeat for us. read more

Food was dry and overcooked. Service, even adjusting for this new world we live in, was poor. It wasn't Dickey's BBQ bad, but certainly wasn't as good as City BBQ. read more

New location in a previous BBQ Hut. The pulled pork was OK not much flavor or smoke taste. Did get the carolina sauce, Taste like they put a bunch vinegar in their tomato based sauce. Not bad, but not NC sauce. The st.louis ribs were much bigger and not done. The baby back were done but not tender or fall off the bone. This may be because it was 11am. I will have to go back sometime in the evening to see if it is better. Overall the previous BBQ place was much better. read more

See all

I am glad everyone Loves this place. They need to get more drinks or at least fill the cooler, there was only coke and weird bottled sodas I've never heard of- on a Saturday at 630pm the place wasn't busy. I heard people order a sampler platter and things that weren't on the menu. Something about returning patrons from the truck, that rubbed me the wrong way as I would have liked that option. They need to have extra sauces available on the side, my sandwich didn't have nearly enough BBQ sauce. The baked Beans had three large chunks of fat and very liquid and not enough beans, more like a soup... I would rather go to City BBQ where there are more side options, and fountain drinks or free water. Not worth it... read more

This place has so much potential, but falls short in too many ways to give it more than 3 stars. The Clintonville location is much better run. First, their meats are quality. The brisket is delicious, and their bbq sauces are house made and really tasty. Their ribs are pretty good as well, but their sides fall short in my opinion. Often, the coleslaw is just chopped cabbage with a pool of white liquid underneath it, as it doesn't hold together well. The mac and cheese is okay, but tastes somewhat different each time I'm there. The baked beans are also sub par, taking on a very sour flavor, not smoky or reminiscent of baked beans you'd expect at a bbq. They frequently run out of ingredients early, which isn't atypical of a bbq joint, but it's happened so often that you would think they would adjust the amount they make on a given day. Overall great food, but doesn't execute on the details. read more

First Northstar now Ray Rays in Westerville...who read my diary? Ray Rays never disappoints, other than waiting in line because great food attracts a crowd. Brisket is a must but pork and chicken fantastic too. You will forget they supplied barbecue sauce. read more

This place is awesome. We were visiting the area from out of town, and Ray Ray's was recommended to us. The first time, we had the spare ribs. Delicious! We had to come back just a few days later on Sunday to try the beef brisket. Again, delicious! We also enjoyed the mac and cheese, baked beans, and coleslaw. Even in this time (June 2020), their drive-thru and walk-up window are both open. I highly recommend this restaurant, and will definitely go back the next time we travel near Columbus. read more

One of the worst BBQs I've ever had. The Beef Brisket sandwich was inedible...the roll seemed stale, the brisket was tough. Could barely chew it. The Carolina Chop Pork sandwich was tough as hell to chew and they forgot the coleslaw! . Have now been to two Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives Columbus locations and they both SUCK! What's up Guy Fieri? read more

Stopped into the Westerville drive thru last weekend and ordered some brisket, a pulled pork sandwich and some sides. As I was driving to my daughters apartment, I was trying to justify the $25 charge for the food....I'm pretty sure I was overcharged, but I thought I would check the receipt when I got there. When we did get there, I discovered that I had no receipt and no pulled pork sandwich. So I called the number on their website and left a detailed message on the answering service. This was Sunday so I figured I would get a call back at least by Monday. Never received a call or refund to my credit card. So I paid $25 for some brisket and two sides. Not worth my time to drive all the way back to confront them, so I guess they have my money. Check you order before you leave and get a receipt. And yes, I take some responsibility because I didn't do this. No excuse for not getting a call back from Ray Ray's. read more

The brisket was yummy! We went on a whim for lunch and enjoyed our meal. The sauces were good. It was a little pricey, but still yummy. A special treat now and then. read more

Well, let me start by saying, I'm a little biased. Texas brisket and Georgia and Carolina pork are my favorites. That being said, Ray Rays dry rub ribs are meaty, have a perfect amount of fat and the smoke is superb! Pulled pork sandwich good but a little pricey. The corn pudding is a solid side but the beans left me a little disappointed. Overall- real barbecue in the Columbus Metro and should not be missed if you crave real barbecue read more

Loved the pulled pork no matter which BBQ sauce I got it with... hard to go wrong with a good smoked meat

Best smoked Pork/Beef in town. They serve chicken, beef brisket, chopped or pulled pork, baby back and spare ribs. A couple simple and delicious sides (Mac, greens, cheeses potatoes and slaw). Service with a smile. It's walk-up window service, i.e. it's simple and the nicest staff I've ever with met. Nothing beats the smell of the food as they finish it off right in front of you while you're ordering. read more

Ribs are fantastic, sides are pretty good. Avoid baked beans at all cost. They are nasty.

Best Barbecue in Columbus! I can not believe they opened here in Westerville. Check out the reviews of their food truck in Clintonville if you need to see Ray Ray's reputation for great barbecue. We had the opportunity to try the Westerville location yesterday. It's the same great taste. We are excited to have them in Westerville and will be back soon! read more

Y'all wanna know where to get your BBQ? This place. The straight slam! They've got fresh ribs, Brisket, pork, and chicken thighs - all done up perfectly. Definitely check this place for lunch or dinner. Make sure you tell them Big Al sent ya! read more

We saw a man in the Home Depot parking lot with a whole tray of BBQ meats in his lap. I suspected it came from the small drive though near by. I was right! My wife and I shared the "Meat Sweats" and a side of Collard Greens. This place blew the other BBQ competition in the "City" away! It absolutely made our day. We live 25 miles away, but will not hesitate to return! Amazing job! Please consider offering a normal hot sauce for the greens. See you soon Ray Ray's! read more

Great food, friendly service. Must try it. We got the Bbq and slaw sandwich, brisket, Mac and cheese and a creme soda. Everything was awesome. read more

I took away lunch one Friday. I ordered a rack of back ribs, brisket sandwich, potato salad, and cole slaw. It they always screw you at the drive through! I came home with spare ribs instead of back ribs, but they were still delicious. The brisket sandwich was great too (they forgot the BBQ sauce, but I believe it was better dry). Sides were OK. I would go back again if in the area. read more

have been looking for great barbecue in Columbus for about a year since our last favorite closed. Good barbecue should not need a lot of sauce, the smoke and rub should season it. the sauce here is on the side and is really not needed unless you want an added flavor. I think the brisket is outstanding, moist and tender. The ribs need just a little pull to separate from the bone. The beans are great as is the corn pudding. read more

The food was beyond delicious! I was in on Sunday and was super impressed with everything. I got the beef brisket sandwich and Mac and cheese. The brisket was super tender and the Mac and cheese was probably some of the best I've had at any restaurant. My meal was $13, but was more than worth it for the quality I received. The staff however was really what made the experience worth it. The girl in the window, I believe her name was dakota, was super personable and was able to answer every question I had about the menu! Great job Ray Rays! read more

So excited to have Ray Rays in Westerville! I have been to the new location a few times already and it is consistently great. I brought my son with me today and upon hearing it was his first visit Alec offered my son a forkful of brisket and he was hooked. Each time I've been Alec has been at the window and is always helpful and friendly. The downside of ray rays is that it's so good that everyone wants some, so you're gonna wait! But it's worth it!! Do yourself a favor and check these guys out, plan ahead and give yourself some extra time and know that you're either eating outside or taking it home. Thanks to the staff for all the hard work! read more

One of my favorite places for BBQ! You can't go wrong with anything on the menu though. The brisket is tender and flavorful and the ribs are second to none. Hard to choose a favorite side but probably have to go with the baked beans. I love how easy it is to get in and out of this location too. We drive 45 mins to eat here but would drive farther if we had to! read more

Brisket was good, the St Louis ribs were horrid, actually threw them out they were so tough. Mac and cheese was like some Pasta noodles with some shredded cheese melted on top, very dry. I did like the baked beans they had a nice smokey and vinegar taste. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't good. I doubt I'll rush back which is a shame I was pumped to try it. read more

Don't waste your money. First they messed up our order. Got home and the ribs were terrible. Extremely fatty and not well cooked. Cole slaw really watery. We called and they said they couldn't refund us any money because we paid in cash. I really couldn't eat any of it. read more

This is the best BBQ in town by far. They take their time and serve an amazing product. I have been a fan for years and am really excited about the new Maxtown Road Location. read more

Today I waited in line 20 min at 4PM to purchase the Meat Sweat combo. At the window I was told they were out of : BRISKET, HOT LINKS and PULLED PORK. That is 3/5 of the choices in the combo. This is 5 hours into their work day with 4 hours remaining on a Saturday. The last time I visited it was also at dinnner time and they had no ribs. I am amazed at the high reviews this establishment gets! When do you get to eat the BBQ? And why on earth would a business that is in business to sell BBQ not have any to sell? After that fact, why couldn't you at least be kind enough to greet cars to say that you have no product to sell so that your potential customer can at least choose to bail out of the line and go to City BBQ where there is always plenty of BBQ available?? read more

I talked my work group into coming here for a team lunch and it was a good call. The place used to be one of the drive up film places so it was fun to see it getting a new use. We waited in a line that was backed up to the road and were surprised that it only took about 10 mins to get our order in. I have had a lot of their stuff and nothing will compare to the rib tips on Thursdays but this time I got the ribs. They weren't all I hoped they would be but they were pretty decent. Everyone else loved their food and was excited about the portions so I think it wasn't them but rather me. I will never stop coming to Ray Rays but ribs aren't in my future. They have picnic tables outside to sit at when it is nice and that let's you eat it hot from the press. If you haven't had Ray Rays then this is a must try spot. If you have tried Ray Rays then you already know to go there and don't need my input. read more

This place is very inconsistent. I have had great sandwiches here and have tossed some. I tossed today's lunch. Pulled pork was neither pulled or pork meat, it was 75% fat in huge chunks. Every time I go, there are new employees and they are only open a few days a week. read more
