Update April 30 2025: Decided to take a short drive up Rt23 towards Delaware. Right before Shannahan Rd on the left side you will see a Log Cabin shack. This is Martiny's BBQ. The owner is Michael Martiny. I met him a long time ago when he first started out in a Food Truck. His food was good then but he's doing great things now. This is quality smoked meats at its finest. I ordered the Brisket, Pulled Pork, Pork Burnt Ends and Pork Ribs. Also for sides I had Coleslaw, Macaroni and Cheese and Baked Beans. The pulled pork was nice and moist, I added some of his sauce but it didn't need it. Brisket just pulled apart with a ton of flavor. The ribs were easy to pull the meat right off the bone, sauce it up a little and yummy. Everything was phenomenal but the star of the meats were those Pork Burnt Ends, OMG!!! Cooked perfectly and the sauce that coated them was so good. I could have sat there all day just eating them. On to the sides, he has a nice creamy coleslaw, flavored perfectly. The Mac N Cheese was nice and creamy and made with several different types of cheese. And for me the Baked Beans were the star of the show. Made homemade with several different kinds of beans and a totally different flavor of sauce than any other BBQ place. It's addictive. I think the perfect ending to the meal was actually talking about his and my own journey through the BBQ world. If you want to have some of the best BBQ around stop and check his place out.

I saw this place being advertised by someone on social media so I decided to check it out. From the outside, it looks intriguing. It's a wooden cabin located right in front of a drive thru store. The parking lot has some spaces but it definitely needs some work done - a lot of potholes due to the weather. Once you get out of your car, you can smell the smokiness of the bbq place. Inside, they have wooden picnic tables but space is limited - there are only 4 tables. It definitely gives cozy cabin vibes. They have a screen next to the menu to place your order. There was only one gentleman behind the counter fulfilling orders. Although not many people were eating in, they seemed busy with takeout orders. Due to the lack of workers, tables weren't being wiped down and there was some trash on the floor. Anywho, we tried their kitchen sink and a half chicken. The pulled pork was my favorite. It was so juicy and had the perfect smokiness to it. The ribs were good too. I was excited to try the brisket but was left disappointed after the first bite since it was cold. The mac & cheese also had good flavor but it was also barely even warm. The chicken had the smoky taste too but it lacked seasoning. Overall this place has potential. If they fixed their food temperature, improved the cleanliness, and friendlier customer service, this place would be a 5/5.

We just visited Martiny's BBQ for the first time and it was a 10/10, no notes! If you live in Lewis Center or Delaware, you're probably familiar with this iconic little log cabin along 23 that has been a pizza place, purveyor of Venezuelan street food and now a bbq joint. The first thing you notice is the amazing aroma of wood-smoked meats emanating from the enormous, custom-built smoker sitting just outside of Martiny's. Michael tends the smoker and feeds it wood all night long to ensure the perfect result - and boy, can you taste it! My hubby is notoriously picky when it comes to ribs and he called these the most tender and flavorful he's ever had. I loved the pulled pork and brisket. And the sauces and sides are fab here! My favorite was the authentic warm German potato salad - utterly delish. We will definitely be back. I'm so glad to have top-notch Texas wood-smoked barbecue so close to home!

Amazing little joint with just perfect que. House made sauces, wood smoker, order online and pick up at a convenient window. We loved the burnt ends and ribs that literally fell apart. The Mac and cheese is house made and just what you need with the meats and the baked beans delish. Just a couple of tables inside so might be best as takeout but go on in and order too just to meet the proprietor!

Some people always feel the need to qualify themselves. Like if they "know" real barbecue, they'll tell you if something tastes good or not. But people are complicated, and they like what they like. We came here on a whim - close to closing, as a pit stop before hitting up CRMD. It's a small, unassuming shack, and the smoker was running as we pulled around to park out front. It's a wooden building, with limited seating - so don't bring a huge group unless it's to-go. A little cast iron stove in the middle of the wall, feels like you are hanging out in a different place. Ordering: touch screen. There was one dude working ("are you ordering the shredded pork? I'll need to shred some up if so!") so this made sense. And yes, half the party ordered shredded pork. I opted for the brisket - and it was perfect. The fat? Rendered like butter. Pickles and pickled onions, a roll, coleslaw (not super creamy or overly vinegary), and baked beans (that had the texture of actual beans, not something that's sat in a can). My date had her shredded pork on a baked potato - "like it was oven fresh, coated in salt and butter and pepper, just amazing." A solid offering - bottled water and sodas available, and sauces on the table (and he brought out their white sauce, to boot). It's an unassuming place, but we enjoyed the barbecue, and will have to visit again!

Martiny's BBQ is sure to please. It's a stop for me when I see BBQ and after coming here once. I will be a fan of mine favorite from now on. Just look at the pictures, enough said!

German potato salad and mac and cheese

Got the brisket box. Brisket you can tell by the pictures was extremely dry. Definitely not fall apart tender. Absolutely needs sauce. Then I got Mac and cheese which was okay ....and the German potato salad( liquid mush) just no, don't get it.

I had been craving BBQ for a while now and we live pretty close to Martiny's so decided to give it a try. I literally wanted to try a little bit of everything so I ended up ordering The Kitchen Sink. Ribs fell off the bone, and everything was pretty tender and delicious. There's a few places to sit inside and a table outside. We opted to sit outside since it was such a nice day out! We will be back!

Great slow smoked BBQ. Simple menu no frills. Just tender meat served fresh. You know you are close-by when you smell the smoker.

It took quite a bit time to get my food, even though I was the only one in the restaurant. The service was descent. I had a gift card and wanted to use all of it. So I ordered two dishes. A few items I wanted to try was not available. I order the CJs platter two pieces of chicken and two pieces of perch with a side of dirty rice. The chicken was good. The rice was a little dry and the perch was not my favorite. I also order the Blacken salmon pasta and a side of wings. The pasta was really good. I would order it again. The restaurant has plenty of seating.Great pictures on the wall of different artists on saturdays nights they have live music. There is plenty of parking outside.

Deeply disappointing experience. Won't return…read more We went to CJ's Soul Food yesterday around 2:00 PM, and the restaurant was nearly empty--three other parties total. With that few customers, we expected attentive service. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill quickly. Service: We waited 30 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. Eventually, the chef came out, handed us menus, took our drink order, and mentioned that not everything on the website menu was available. That turned out to be a massive understatement. The website menu is wildly out of date. Items that are still prominently listed online--but no longer available--include: - Vegetarian Soul Roll - Fried Green Tomatoes (one reason we chose this place) - Aaliyah's Angel Eggs - Crawfish Étouffée (another reason we came) - Beef Polish Boy (another reason we came) On top of that, they were sold out of: - CJ's Soul Roll (the main reason we came) - Smoked Collards Dip - Banana Pudding (also a reason we came) If these items are gone permanently or frequently unavailable, the website menu should be updated or taken down. As-is, it's misleading. After another 15 minutes, our food order was finally taken. The food didn't arrive until 3:20 PM--80 minutes after we walked in. Once the food arrived, the service didn't improve. No one checked on us. Not once. My chicken tenders arrived with no sauce. I had to ask. A young boy brought BBQ sauce, with no options offered. The tenders were so overcooked and tough I needed a knife to cut them. My companion ordered catfish and wings. No sauce was offered or provided--no tartar, no cocktail sauce, nothing. He said the catfish and wings tasted good. The mac and cheese was thick and pasty, not creamy. Atmosphere / Operations: The owner's son was present and clearly old enough to help, but spent most of the time wearing headphones and on his phone while being repeatedly yelled at from across the room. If he's working, he should be engaged. If not, he shouldn't be in the way. We also watched three DoorDash drivers come in to pick up orders--only to leave empty-handed because customers had ordered Soul Rolls that weren't available. If an item isn't being made, update the DoorDash menu. This affects both customers and drivers. The photos show how empty the restaurant was. With so few customers, there's really no excuse for service this slow or inattentive. Bottom line: This place needs serious attention to basics: - Update the website menu - Update the DoorDash menu - Greet customers when they arrive - Check on tables - Plate food properly (or at least offer sauces) - Improve communication and front-of-house operations We won't be back and can't recommend it. Based on this experience, it's hard to see how this business can survive without major changes.

Child-friendly as well. Service: attentive server who was checking on us frequently. He did seem like he was running around quite a bit, but he was hardworking and friendly. Food: There are AYCE hot pot and Korean BBQ options available here. They have a pretty large menu to choose from, including scallops, mussels, a variety of meats and veggies. Their spring rolls were a tasty appetizer to add to our feast. The buffet section also had a tasty crab salad, kimchi, and a variety of desserts to choose from. There was an ice cream cooler with vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate hershey's ice cream to enjoy. One unique aspect was the sauce station - you can still DIY your sauces, but jf your creative side needs a little inspiration, they have recipes to make your own sauce. The house special shacha sauce recipe was my favorite.

I'll start with the sandwiches. Totally surprised by both sandwiches, they both had nice and moist meat that was smoked perfectly. The coleslaw on top just added that perfect crunch to the sandwich. I used Bangin Bourbon on one and Homestyle which was tangy and sweet. Both had great flavor. On to the sides. The Mac n Cheese was made with a Rotini style noodle and was made with Colby, Cheddar and Jack cheese. It was super flavorful. And finally there was the Cowboy Corn which of course had corn, peppers red and green made with a super flavorful sauce. So Tasty!! Almost forgot a star in the menu, the Baked Beans, OMG!!!! These were TOTALLY homemade with so much flavor, could have 2-3 of these alone. You can find them on StreetFoodFinder.com or Facebook. Check them out!!!!
