I went with the Meatsweats Combo so I could try a little bit of everything, and it did not disappoint. The last time I went to Ray Rays BBQ Clintonville, there were at the Ace of Cups. The new Clintonville location inside of Fusian that replaced the closed Wizard of Za Pizza. My friend and I shared the Meat Sweats platter with all the BBQ meats along with the Jerk Chicken. All the meats were delicious and filling. I did have Mac & Cheese and Baked Beans and took the Dry Rub Kettle Cooked Chips for a later snack and loved the Dry Rub Kettle Chips. WOW! We swung in here on a whim before we did our grocery shopping & are we happy we did! I've been wanting to try RayRays for a while, but their closest location was the Westerville one; a bit too far for us to "take-out" and still have a hot meal when we reached home. So I was happy to find that they finally had a Clintonville location! The new place is easy to miss -- it shares the same building as FUSIAN (and FUSIAN's still there) but if you're not watching carefully, you still might miss the small "RayRay's" sign out front (and Google Maps shows just FUSIAN on streetview). ANYWAY. I had the sausage & mac & cheese (YUM) and Husband had the brisket with carolina sauce & collard greens. Delicious, hot, spicy without being overwhelming & southern-boy Husband rates the collards as "true Southern", whatever that means. We'll definitely will be back! My one gripe is that after we told the order-taker that we were "dine-in", they still put the meal in both paper & plastic bags as if it was a to-go order. Folks, that's....kind of a waste. Might've just been a simple mistake, though. my OTHER gripe is one that RayRay's might not be able to fix, as it's been ongoing at that Fusian's location since F opened: the @!$@# parking lot. The Parking Lot is NOT designed for folks on the same side of the road to pull in easily; you have to bend your car in half while U-Turning into their lot in order to be able to use the parking spaces. Ray Rays is the perfect stop to cure any BBQ cravings! I love how easy and accessible it is. They are fast, consistent and reasonably priced for what you get!! This last time my husband and I were craving bbq and wanted a bunch of meat (no better way to say it) and so we decided to get the meat sweats box, a side of mac & cheese and waffle fries! The box came with SO MUCH meat and it all was so good. We were shocked by the chicken and the sausages. Such a broad range of options and it lasted us almost two meals. This was the original RayRays truck we discovered but live in Powell so shifted to that truck for a few years which was consistently average or much worse and as of April 2024 has left Powell and tbh I don't mind because going back to this location is right back to that high quality awesome brisket we haven't had since going to this location years ago. A call secured a promise of curbside delivery of an online order. Ready 10 minutes ahead of promised pickup. 2 seconds and my order was at my car. I had tried to find RayRay's Clintonville the night before, but their signage is small and WAZE had me turn before their building. For out of towners unfamiliar with the area, there is limited parking in front, beside, and behind their building. Next door FUSION is your landmark. AND YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS PLACE. My family and I are bbq freaks and graze from pit barbecue to pit barbecue, and this is as good as it gets. The $18 brisket sandwich feeds 2 and would be worth it at twice the price. 1/4 slabs of succulent meat. Get the sauce on the side. I chose original, and it is unique - thin and vinegary but sweet. Wouldn't have dreamed I would love it, but I did. Baked beans were at first a disappointment because I love them with brisket or pork in them, but these are alive with some bright spice I could not identify - cinnamon? Anyway, whatever it is, it works! $7/pint, smaller available. The final item I tried was the spareribs. O.My. Brontosaurus bones loaded with meat! I got my dry, and they are fall off the bone fab. I was grabbing dinner with some friends. I saw that there was burnt cauliflower as a vegetarian option but I don't like smoky food I got the large fries instead. The fries were crispy, well seasoned and the sauce was the best part!! I would go back just for that alone. They had outdoor seating right behind the food truck and if you wanted a drink you could go inside to order one. The prices/drinks were posted on the window by the seating . I also ordered the small mac and cheese to try. I was personally not a huge fan, it was almost like the texture of Easy mac and wish it had more of a thicker cheese sauce texture (not pictured). I personally recommend ordering the fries over the mac! My friends shared meat sweats. They said everything was great but the ribs were their least favorite. It came with three different sauces but they loved the sauce with my fries more and kept digging into that. Guy Fieri definitely didn't lie about this BBQ spot! While in Columbus visiting extended family, I made sure to stop by this food truck that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. As we were turning into the parking lot where the truck was parked, the smell of coals burning wharfed into our vehicle and instantly became hungry. I let my stomach do the ordering and we ended up with more food than we could possibly eat in one seating. The staff was super helpful in steering us to the best of their menu which is just about everything. The shining star was the brisket sandwich which was seasoned with a wonderfully flavorful rub and placed on top the perfect, light and fluffy sesame bun. We got tons of sauce but none was needed. Honorable mentions go out to those crunchy yet juicy chicken wings, tender pork ribs and extra creamy Mac & cheese. Everything that we ordered was delicious. I must've went on a bad day because this was the worst bbq I've had. I spent over $40 for the Meat Sweats platter, I added burnt ends, Mac & cheese and baked beans. Out of everything only the baked beans and chicken were good. The brisket and burnt ends were overcooked and dry. Ribs overcooked with no flavor. Absolutely the worst BBQ I've ever had, and I've had them all. From Terry Blacks, Louie Muller's and Rudy's in Texas to rendezvous in Memphis and everything in between. I was in town for work and I'm a BBQ junkie. Where do I start!? I tried the $34 Meat Sweats. A sampler platter of all their meats. The brisket was dry and tasteless. No moist option as others places offer. The pork ribs were tough ( not sure they were done) and again tasteless. Apparently they must not have rub and you need to drench your meat in BBQ sauce. Who ever heard of jerk chicken BBQ anywhere except in the Caribbean! It was bad! The pulled pork was dry and cold. Must have been left out for a while! No half chicken, no baked potato no beef rib. This is not much of a BBQ restaurant as I would have expected. We went to the Granville location The place was empty at dinner time. Duh, what does that tell you! The meat sweats is a $21 box that gives you a bit of all the barbecue they offer: chicken, brisket, sausage, and pork ribs. The brisket was too dry, but every other meat was acceptable. The pork ribs were the best. The sausage wasn't as greasy and rich as I wanted it to be. It was a pity that the amount of each meat we got was based on their market price though. We got a bunch of chicken relative to pork ribs. I would've wanted a more equal distribution of each kind of meat in the order. They close early. My companion and I ended up having an earlier dinner because we weren't expecting that a food truck would close as early as 8. I was in the mood for some BBQ and I don't mean City BBQ! I decided I would give Ray Ray's a try. This has to be the fastest food truck I have ever been to. They had about 4 people in line before me and they moved the line expeditiously! The staff was very professional and kind. I ordered 2 lbs of Rib Tips for me and the wife to split along with a small waffle fry. My wife ordered the mac and cheese and let me taste a bite. It was just decent in my opinion, but my wife enjoyed it. I went back to the car and broke open the box of tips and they looked amazing! I bit into one of them and noticed that they were a bit tough. I tried another one and I experienced the same result. I asked how my wife liked them and she said they were good. Well, it was her lucky day because I let her have the rest of the box. The waffle fries were next to be sampled. When I tell you that after biting into that crunchy exterior I fell in love! Chick-Fil-A HAS NOTHING ON RAY RAY'S WAFFLE FRIES! I was enjoying them so much that I didn't even notice the special sauce playing peek-a-boo under one of the larger fries. I cracked open the sauce and it just took amazing fries to a whole different level! The sauce has a bit of kick to it, but I was able to still devour the fries while enjoying it. After polishing off the fries I figured that I would try one if the sandwiches since I gave my portion of rib tips to my wife. I went back and ordered the Jerk Chicken sammy with a grape Boylan (my favorite brand of pop) soda. I had never had a grape Boylan before and I was kind of nervous because the blackberry Boylan sets the bar so high! But the grape Boylan wasn't any slouch, and I soon found out that I was going to need every drop of it to cool my mouth down. Now I'll be the first to admit that I am a punk when it comes to spicy foods. But I have always loved jerk chicken. And I am usually able to tolerate the heat that comes with most versions of jerk chicken. I took a bite of the jerk chicken sandwich and my taste buds got a quick two-piece combo from the heat this sandwich brings! It wasn't unbearable, but it did catch me off guard. I managed to get through about half of it, not because I couldn't finish it, but because I ran out of pop, and I wasn't about to spend $3 more dollars for another bottle. So later on in the evening, I had the rest of my sandwich and a nice-sized water bottle to make sure I made it through! Fortunately, the heat had kinda died down. Again, it's not unbearable and the tastiness of it will help you push through. I will definitely be back to try the brisket sammy and get some more of those wonderful fries. The pork was pretty tasty, but I think I went in with really high expectations. The fries were yummy, but after a couple of bites, the salt was hitting me. I felt so thirsty for the rest of the afternoon. The sauce that came with the fries had a slight spice and was good in small amounts. I'm giving three stars because I just wasn't blown away. They had made a ton already and placed them in the trays so they were ready for customers. I understand, but I'm not a cold food kinda gal unless it's deli food or a salad. Some of the chicken was cut up and then there was a huge piece in the sandwich. Flavors were fine but it was just alright. Decent. For $10, it wasn't worth it. My price point would've been maybe $8.
