Saw that these guys were in the Easton area and decided to check them out. Ordered the 8 chicken wings, baked beans, Mac and cheese and coleslaw. The baked beans were definitely homemade. They had onion, pepper and a hearty sauce with them. The coleslaw was a homemade creamy style and had a light sweet taste, super tasty. The Mac n cheese had a great blend of cheese and noodles, with a touch of pepper. I should have ordered more of it for sure. The chicken wings had the hot honey sauce on them. A little sweet with a back end touch of heat. Delicious!!! The truck has been in business for around 7 years now. Everyone should come out and check it out for sure. Mya's offers great fried chicken. It's even more impressive that they serve such a high quality product from a food truck. While Hot Chicken Takeover certainly wears the Columbus' fried chicken crown, Mya's fried chicken is no joke. The thick crispy exterior and juicy interior of Mya's fried chicken are marvelous. As opposed to heat at HCT, Mya's pleases the palate through sweetness. Their herbed honey drizzle is delicious especially when combined with the slightly salty seasoned skin. If you don't feel like using your hands, the chicken sliders are a solid choice. They are composed of succulent pieces of boneless chicken served in homemade biscuits. I definitely would visit Mya's more often, but it's just a little out of the way for me in Clintonville. Luckily I get my haircuts in the same building, so I try to go at least once a month. read more

OMG this Filipino fried chicken is HELLA good. A true hidden gem in Columbus. I've heard much of Mya's from my coworkers at OSU. I first had a taste of Ohio fried chicken when I had Cane's, but this food truck definitely tops that not-so-sober experience. For $6, you can have two pieces of fried dark meat chicken, drizzled with their honey glaze that just makes this heavenly delicious. The batter was not heavy and felt like it was made for that chicken. You also get a large, fluffy biscuit that really compliments the meat. Service was fast, quick and easy. The truck was hidden away behind a convenience store so be on the lookout. Since I was loving the weather during the day, I actually made the 40 minute walking trek from Buckeye campus to get lunch here, and it was so worth it. I definitely will try to come back to try the home style sides I keep reading about. GO NOW! You won't be disappointed. read more

Help me understand what I missed? So I go to their food truck in Columbus Commons expecting their nostalgic fried chicken, mashed potatoes, potato salad, awesome biscuits, and signature honey sauce and to my surprise all that was left from their original menu is the honey? I felt like leaving but I already spent 10 mins in line and didn't feel like going to another line. I wound up getting the chicken tenders, two dipping sauces, and Mac and cheese and everything was underwhelming for $10.50. Mac and cheese was more Macaroni than Cheese and the chicken tenders were only good after dipping them in the sauce. For $10.50 I wish I would've went to Raising Canes which is overrated as hell but at least you get bang for your buck. All their menu had was sandwiches, tenders, bone in mini wings, and pulled chicken sandwiches. I can understand why they would do this in order to satisfy the lunch crowd in the area and be as speedy as possible. It took about 1 min to get my food after I ordered. Nevertheless, I would've waited hours for their Classic bone in chicken and biscuits which is why I made the out of the way trip to seek them out during lunch hour in Columbus Commons. I already had my pre made lie ready for my "boss" as to why it took so long to come back for lunch under the premise that Myas had bone in chicken like they used to with it taking a while to prepare but I didn't need to use the excuse. Damn shame they totally changed up everything and you definitely can't live in the past. RIP MYA'S...It was a pleasure knowing and tasting you guys back in the day. Best fried chicken I ever did put in mah mouf! Holy hell people. This fried chicken absolutely blew me away. I tried the 2 piece dark meat with biscuit, which was perfectly crisp and had an amazing sweet yet vinegary honey drizzled on it. The chicken was so moist inside. It was really perfect fried chicken in my opinion. I also tried a special they had which was a cornmeal crusted 1/2 bird with Mexican chili dust and mango papaya honey. It was sooo sooo good. Oh. My. God. The service was incredibly fast. They fried up my chicken so quickly that within minutes of sitting down at one of the nearby picnic tables, my order was ready. Trust me when I tell you that Colonel Sanders, Popeye, and even your Southern grandma can't come close to the fried chicken in the Philippines. Well, fast forward to this past weekend when I discovered the owner of Mya's is Filipino. I literally couldn't get over to Clintonville fast enough to try this chicken - I just knew it was going to be amazing. Is it stereotyping when it's profiling for something good? I sure hope not because I have nothing but love for my beloved Philippines and for this delicious chicken truck. The chicken is so, so, so good! It's fried fresh, and it's drizzled with herbed honey. It's crispy, juicy, and flavorful. The accompanying biscuits and homemade sides are also delicious, but Mya's really is all about the chicken. The Mister had two pieces of white meat, and I had the sliders. Both of us gave our meals two thumbs way up. My only small criticism is that I'm pretty sure the chicken isn't organic. The pieces were really big, and that's just not indicative of an organic bird. But I totally understand that this just might not be cost-effective. Pleased to announce I have found a replacement to Chick-Fil-A (whom I recently divorced with extreme prejudice)! First of all, support a local guy and a local business! Mark works very hard and is committed to customer service. The first time I tried this place out (on a Friday night about an hour and a half before closing) they were pretty much sold out of everything. Oh the horror!!! Having a fried chicken craving and they were sold out. Mark was very gracious and offered to cook something special for us. Plus he wanted to give it to us for free (we insisted he take some money). That's the mark of someone who really does care about his customers. I am in love with the Fried Chicken Slider meal (2 sliders). It's a boneless chicken breast on a biscuit with your choice of dressing. Mashed potatoes and mac & cheese sides are awesome. This place is worth the trip! So so so glad that Mya's Fried Chicken is back! I've ordered the sliders and regular chicken meals. I LOVE the sliders. Crispy, boneless chicken on homemade biscuits with a drizzle of herbed honey. The salty/sweet combo is perfected with these sliders. The biscuits are buttery and delicious. Although I prefer the sliders, the regular chicken is also great. The chicken is well-seasoned, crispy on the outside and covered in a honey/vinegar sauce (only if you request it.) All the sides are made from scratch. I've eaten the mashed potatoes and creamy coleslaw. Both were fantastic. The coleslaw wasn't overly sweet or drenched in dressing. The mashed potatoes were a little chunky and topped with gravy. I can't ever decide between sides so I usually end up getting a small order of two different items. Right now they are only open a few nights a week during dinner while they get back on their feet. The right window is where you order your food. When it's ready, they'll call your name and hand you the food through the window on the left side. They make the chicken after you've paid for your order so it's hot and fresh for you. We ordered the 1/2 chicken (to share) with medium sides of green beans and smashed potatoes. The bacon flavor really comes through with the green beans. I'm not a fan of gravy but this gravy has made me a convert. The biscuits are square and substantial without being heavy. Chicken is always a hit or miss. Mostly we avoid eating it at restaurants as it turns out dry, bland and flavorless. Hearing so much good about Mya's I was eager to take the man here to see if we finally struck out and found our go to chicken place. We got a two piece white and it was cooked well on the inside and I appreciate how it is made to order but the outside was completly soggy. No crunch which is what fried chicken is all about, especially the breast had soggy bits of flour that should have stayed in the fryer longer. The biscuit was ok, the herbed honey looked great in the bottle with loads of fresh herbs but tasted like plain honey. Same with the vinegar, it was supposed to be sicy and had jalepenos in it but tasted like vinegar. We didn't try any of the sides but they sounded good. The chicken had herbs in the breading which you also coulnd't taste, a bit of salt and pepper would go a long way. This was unfortunatly a pretty big dissapointment. read more

I ordered the tenders and Mac & cheese. The tenders were served warm at best. I would imagine that they cook their chicken tenders ahead of time and place them into a warmer, which would explain the soggy chicken, and unfortunately it had little flavor (dipping sauce was necessary). Since Mya's has reopened, we wanted to give this local food truck another chance. I'm so glad we did! The chicken was so moist (I hate that word) and the skin was well flavored. We split a half bird between two people and it was plenty of chicken. The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious but a little heavy for the warm day. Of course I would order them again. We also got a side of creamy coleslaw. It was a little too creamy. I love coleslaw but I would have preferred it a little tangier. Let me tell you something about myself you may not know: I am a born Southerner. Born to two Southern parents. I may have moved a lot in my life thanks to my dad being in the Navy, but you can't ever really take the Southerness away. This girl loves her good old Southern style cooking. Fried chicken was one of my mom's specialties and was always treated like a big deal special treat because it took so much preparation and clean up. It is one of my ultimate comfort foods. And you know how most of us kids feel about our momma's cooking... That being said, for me to give a place with "Fried Chicken" in the name anything higher than a 3-star rating is a pretty big deal. I compare it not only to every other chicken joint, but I also compare it to my dear old mom's. Mya's, while not my most favoritest chicken place in Columbus (yes, my mom lives here now, but I'm actually thinking of another...), is so high on my list. Not only is the chicken super tasty, but those side dishes are seriously banging. Let's talk about those mashed potatoes for a second. LIttle bit of skin, slightly lumpy, a little bit of tang and just the right amount of gravy makes those bad boys something to drool over. Seriously, I'm drooling right now. My bi-weekly chicken place of choice. I happen to work very close to I could easily eat here every week but I like to space it out a bit. The chicken in any way (sliders, whole pieces) is just fantastic. I love the honey-vinager drizzle they offer as well. GO DARK OR GO HOME! Well, not really. :-) I'm a fan of dark meat chicken. Don't like the white. Won't come near it. Every once in a while I try it trying to be healthy, but always regret my decision. They were out of white meat last night, but even if they had had it, I probably wouldn't have tried it. But really - if you're going to get fried chicken, why even try to be remotely healthy? Get the good stuff! That being said , YUM. I had a leg and a thigh - the thigh was definitely better, because a lot of the crumby (Is that even a word?) coating on the leg had fallen off. Not sure where it went. I had it drizzled with honey, and it was GOOD. Juicy and flavorful, and tasted homemade. My husband had the biscuit, as I'm not a huge biscuit fan, and said it was good. This truck stopped by my workplace for the first time this week and I'm pretty impressed, this truck has some pretty great fried chicken. I really like the style of breading they use on the chicken, it seemed to be somewhere between fried panko and traditional breading. The only improvement I could see the truck making is having more sides. It seems more odd than anything to sell wings and chicken fingers, but no fries. read more

Got this at the Columbus Commons. I'd have to say it was pretty alright... Food: chicken tenders. Crispy outside, I think they were breast cuts, which were surprisingly juicy. The problem was that it was a little too fibrous and tough, possibly from being warmed. Sauce: blue cheese and hot honey. Okay so the hot honey sauce didn't have a cap for some reason so I spilled it on my shirt. It wasn't spicy and seemed thinned out/diluted. Blue cheese was good, not too funky and creamy. By far the best fried chicken in Columbus. I typically go on waffle weekend, aka the most delicious weekend of the month (the last weekend). My favorite thing to order is the chicken and waffle sliders with mac n cheese or coleslaw. Highly recommended! read more

Just what the world needed - another rave review of Mya's. The wife and I finally hit Mya's up this weekend. We both had the chicken sliders and, "wow" is all I can say. The long marinated chicken is so tender it just melts in your mouth. The herbs and honey drizzle are just icing on the cake. The biscuits that housed the awesome chicken were just fantastic. My only Mya dings are that the sides aren't anything to write home about. The chicken is clearly the main attraction. I had the slaw and the wife fired up the mac and cheese. They were both fine, but nothing extraordinary. The final ding: I don't drink soda. A bottled water option would be nice (an iced tea option even better!) So, word to the wise, if you don't imbibe the colas, like me, BYOB. We'll definitely be back for the chicken (and I'll have an iced tea in hand this time). read more

Sweet mother of all that is holy. This is GOOD chicken. I have tried 7-8 food trucks since last summer, and almost to a one they've been great. If not great, then very, very good. But this one is great. You know when you get KFC, and you bite into the chicken breast, and the first bite is pretty good because the skin is moist and spicy, but then you have that wall of dry, plain meat to work through? Not at Mya's. Every last bite of my (dark-meat!) chicken was chin-drippingly juicy. Even better, you get your choice of a squirt of spiced honey or vinegar on top. I chose honey; it was great. I'll try the other option next time. I made sure to try all five sides, and they're all good to great. Biscuits? Full of moist, biscuity goodness. Mashed potatoes? Nice and chunky with flavorful skins left on. Green beans? Loaded with bacon and onions for big flavor. Cole slaw? Fresh and crunchy. The only side I didn't love was the mac-n-cheese, but not because it wasn't good. It just wasn't great. Pretty cool truck setup, too, with a high counter and a little window through which your food is delivered (after a short wait). There's two picnic tables if you want to eat there. Unfortunately, Mya's is only open weekends. I hope that changes soon. read more

The biscuits are the perfect balance of moist with the ability to sop up gravy from your smashed potatoes. Enjoy the honey and vinegar on top of the chicken as it balances the salt in the breading. When I made a Yelp account it was not to write bad reviews (or really, any reviews). I wanted to bookmark places and maybe add photos to an underrepresented place I liked. I figured if a restaurant was bad, it didn't need my help proving it. The problem with Mya's is that they were apparently very good before changing ownership this year. I never tried them before now so I can't speak to that. I can however speak to the food they now serve. The sides are bland at best, lacking any kind of depth or vibrancy in flavor. There's nothing awful about them but especially considering the price they're really disappointing. To top it off I found a long blonde hair in my mashed potatoes. Accidents happen but it was really the icing on the cake. The low point was the chicken and biscuit. I dug into the biscuit and was truly surprised at how dense it was. This was not a fluffy, flaky biscuit like I expected. This was dense and just like the sides: bland. Usually I find myself wishing for more biscuits, especially when I've got a side of mashed potatoes & gravy nearby. I didn't even finish this biscuit. The chicken looked great, but again it suffered from a lack of flavor. Even the "honey & vinegar" drizzle seemed to do nothing more than add a slight sweetness and wet the chicken. Where was the acetic bite of vinegar to brighten things up? The worst part was that half of the thigh wasn't even fried - or breaded! It was gummy skin and nothing more. I ate this immediately so this isn't a case of fried chicken that doesn't hold up after a half-hour drive. This is just bad food that (apparently) used to be good. Don't waste your money. read more

This is the best fried chicken I've ever eaten (sorry Mom!). I've been there twice already and both times their food was super good. I like dark meat, so I get the drumstick and thigh with a biscuit. The chicken is always fresh, crunchy, and drizzled with a magical drizzle of honey and vinegar, it sounds weird but believe me it works on so many levels. The biscuit is like the child of a biscuit and a corn muffin, so it's like a regular biscuit but with the crunchy part of a corn muffin. The first time I got a side of mac and cheese, which was good, but now my favorite mac and cheese ever, but the second time I got the mashed potatoes and a gravy that was more creamy than greasy, so no complains there. My only complain is that they only open from Thursday to Sunday, so that one time I got fried chicken craving was pretty bad since no other fried chicken place would fill that void in my heart... and belly. read more

Mya's is a very solid four stars. The chicken is cooked perfectly, the sauce is great, and the price is right. Also, Hot Chicken Takeover has ruined regular fried chicken for me (regular fried chicken just doesn't do it for me, I need to eat it with a challenge), otherwise Mya's might be close to five star worthy.
