    Raijiro Ramen

Ramen Raijin is currently my favourite ramen spot. They have consistently delicious and piping hot ramen and side dishes that are always spot on. Most recently I tried their seasonal Raijiro Ramen which is very hearty and comes with thick cut pork, pork backfat, thick chewy noodles and a mound of beansprouts. It makes for a nice treat but you can definitely feel the melty fat. My usuals are Hakata Tonkotsu and Spicy Tonkotsu. Great karaage here too. The space is clean and bright, albeit a bit cramped. Service is great.

Recently tried Ramen Raijin and have maybe found my favourite ramen in Toronto. Tried the mazejiro, karajiro, and tsukemen. The noodles were very thick and chewy which was the perfect medium for the rich, heavy tonkotsu broth. I thought originally that the ramen would be too heavy but it's so flavourful and not too salty. Absolutely loved the food although the wait was a bit long when we went, however, it was so worth it for the delicious ramen.

Tucked into a somewhat hidden corner. I like that they have a waitlist. It's very organized and staff is very attentive. Overall great service, and the interior is nice. We ordered the karaage as appetizer and it was very good! Would definitely order again. My boyfriend and I both ordered Jiro Ramen. I got the small and he got the extra large, which was huge. He left feeling more than full. The jiro ramen is okay, it's VERY fatty which I think can be a hit or miss with people. I found the meat to be okay- it's an extremely heavy ramen. My boyfriend said they put a little too much cabbage. I left and was so full that I felt I didn't even need to eat dinner. My brother ordered the umami shoyu and also enjoyed it. For myself and my brother, including karaage, it came out to about $60 with tip. Overall, very solid ramen place.

Currently one of my favourite ramen shops in Toronto. The broths are super creamy and well balanced. Not too salty and lots of umami. Additionally, the noodles have a good chew which makes me think they make it in house. It's currently my favourite spot for Tsukemen ramen, and one of the few ramen places that service this dish. Also, usually I find the gyoza at ramen shops to be sub par but Ramen Raijin has a really good gyoza dish. The dough is super thin, cooked to perfection, and doesn't taste like it came out of the freezer. From their instagram, they apparently have a special grill just for the gyoza and honestly it shows. The staff all speak Japanese so you know it's authentic. It's a fun friendly vibe and I love taking my friends out to ramen here.

When I hit up RaiJin, it was very chilly outside and there was a very long line waiting to be served. We waited for a good 30 minutes to enter the restaurant. My suggestion is to make a reservation before head over. Now, let's talk about the food. They've got some solid ramen and tasty side dishes like fried chicken. It's good stuff, but I wouldn't say it blew me away, especially with all the authentic ramen spots in Toronto. It's kind of like an alternative to Sansotei Ramen, in my opinion. Still, if you're a big ramen fan, it's worth a visit. Just don't expect it to be a game-changer.

This place was pretty busy on a Monday evening. We waited about 30 minutes for a table. The ramen was decent. The soup broth was hearty, and the noodles were chewy. The egg sucked though. It was almost fully cooked like a boiled egg. You get 5% off if you give them a 5 star review on Google. There's a bit of a seating limit as they asked politely asked us to leave after finishing our meal.

Food was AMAZING this was my first time trying ramen and it was delicious. Service was fast we were greeted at the door and seated within 5 minutes water came to the table shortly after we were seated. Broth was rich and creamy in flavour noodles were cooked perfectly all the ingredients complemented eachother well. We opted to do the combo upgrade and get the Mayo chicken it was delicious small portion but packed with flavor simple but delicious dish. Space was very open a couple large groups not to loud good spot to stop for a quick lunch

This place gets busy. Got here around 5pm before the dinner rush, on our way out there was a couple people waiting for tables. Ordered the Umami Shoyu Ramen without egg. I thought it was very good. Broth was light and flavourful. I typically prefer lighter broths overall that have a punch but you also don't feel horrible drinking the whole broth. This broth was great in that sense. Noodles were thin noodles, nice and chewy. Cha shu I thought was alright, I like the charred ones typically and this one was not. Also got extra noodles at the end which was only an extra $2 for a whole extra portion. I think this is a great option for ramen but Isshin still remains my favorite in downtown.

I heard that it is a very good ramen noodle shop. After trying it, I think it is ordinary

I've been here several times and this place serves a solid bowl of ramen. The noodles are cooked well, it isn't too salty, egg is done perfectly, and the prices are generally good. Appetizers are good as well. My only complaints is that it can be a tad oily and the pork is sometimes too fatty. Service is good but it does get busy.

    Gyokai Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen
    Jessica L.

Tried Gyokai Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen. The broth was really salty, and I couldn't really taste the seafood flavour. I would definitely recommend asking for 50% salt if they allow you to adjust. You don't get to choose the noodle thickness. Mine came with thick noodles which is my preference so that's fine. But my friend ordered the hakata tonkatsu ramen and it came with thin noodles. Egg is $2 extra for all ramen. My fav part of the bowl was the pork - which was super tender and had a good proportion of meat to fat. I found a piece of hair in my ramen. My server apologized and brought a new one, and even took off 50% on that dish. I appreciate how the staff handled the situation. Overall the ramen is alright here, but I don't think it's up to par compared with the other more popular ramen joints.

    Yuzu shio ramen
    Sharon K.

Wow. Hands down the best Japanese ramen I've had. I ordered the Yuzu Shio Ramen which was perfect for someone who likes a clean but deep broth. Not too overpowering but definitely not underwhelming. It was a perfect balance of salty and savory. The chasu was soft too! Noodles were a great texture as well. If you're ever in Toronto... you have to visit.

My friend had the King of Kings as our server said this is one of their most popular choices. I opted for the Spicy Charsu. Now I understand some people can't handle heat but I live off of Purple Tongue hot sauce which is made with some pretty hot peppers. I asked for a level one and the lady explained that the spice level on the Charsu was a whole series of levels higher than the King of Kings. I get that . Give me the heat. Anywho, she was comfortable with giving me 0.5 but said I could make it hotter if need be. Ok, better to start smaller I guess. They put some sauce on the side which I added to my bowl. Personally I found the 0.5 a nice tingle; it was good. Made my nose run. But I'm totally getting the level 1 next time. My friend however tried a sip of my broth, spit it out and said poison poison because of the heat Mind you, his King of Kings was a level 1. Which to me tasted creamy and delicious. I love a good pork bone soup and I opted for the Spicy Charsu because of the pork bone base. I loved the broth. It was perfection. The noodles were so fresh . The portion size was enormous. I kept eating and more noodles appeared. The Charsu had an amazing flavor to it . Smoky and delicious . My friend is a larger man and even he commented on the portion size saying he would be ok with a smaller size as he was so full. Good portions for your money. We also had the Gyoza and the TakoYaki. The TakoYaki was soft and loaded with the delicious sauce. The Gyoza were enormous. We were both 100% satisfied with our visit and will be back for sure.

The concerned server told me that it may be painful, but being the chili head that I am, I gladly took on the challenge. It was a larger bowl than their regular size and my ramen came topped with lots of corn, some mushrooms, bean sprouts and 6 large pieces of chasu. The broth was magma red, but it was not as spicy as I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong, it was spicy but not to the point where it would warrant a warning. The spicy broth tasted like a mix of Buldak sauce and Capsaicin, but didn't have much depth. I finished my ramen, broth and all and enjoyed most of the experience. The least favorite was the chasu and the egg as chasu did not taste fresh, and I could not taste the char on them at all. The egg was over-cooked and under marinated which was disappointing. It's still one of the few ramen options in Durham but can't say it's comparable to the other Kenzo locations.

Reach ten stamps and you get a free bowl of ramen. - The chashu is excellent! My rating is 4.5 stars. I'm rounding down. Last Tuesday, I had my monthly 7 am meeting with a bunch of technical writing peers from around the world. It's quite the meeting that typically lasts for four hours. Luckily, we ended earlier than usual. It meant that my workday ended at around 3:30 pm. It was perfect, as I had a concert to attend several hours later. Normally, I don't do dinner before a concert. I grab a quick bite to each before I head downtown. This time, since I was done work early, I felt that having an early dinner was worthwhile. I drove downtown and parked in a lot that seems to be my usual spot whenever I'm attending a concert at Massey Hall. My original plan was to find an eatery close to the concert venue. I spotted Hokkaido Ramen Santouka steps away. I wanted ramen! I walked in and there was a sign that said to wait. I had no wait time. A woman and the entire staff greeted me. I asked for a table for me and got one. It was great. Seating between tables and diners is close together. You definitely overhear conversations and you can't help it. The man next to me had stretched his foot under my table. I didn't notice that he was in my space until I uncrossed my leg and my foot hit his. I listened to two friends next to me. The man seemed to take charge over what he and his female friend should eat, which was interesting. He gave the impression that he was an expert until the server came over and he had a ton of questions. It's always fun being an observer and listener. I had no choice but to listen to her dating experiences. I got a menu. I knew what I wanted. My server came over and was ready to take my order. I got these items: - Diet Coke - Miso chachu ramen, with bamboo shoot held - Jammy egg and corn as extra toppings The menu doesn't tell you what ingredients you get in each type of ramen. However, it does come with a photo. I asked how large a large bowl of ramen was. My server was great pointing up to a display of three bowls. I went large. The photo indicated that my miso ramen had bamboo shoots. I'm not a fan of them, so I asked that they be omitted. I also added a jammy egg and corn. I got a cold can of Diet Coke. A frosted glass with ice accompanied it. I was happy. I love an icy cold drink. This one was excellent. I loved that it was extra cold. My bowl of ramen had arrived. I was excited to dive in. My miso chachu ramen was delicious. The miso flavour was on point. I drank most of the broth, which speaks volumes on how yummy it was. The chachu was tender and had the best balance of pork and fattiness. The number of slices was generous. The ramen was chewy and perfectly done. I loved the corn and jammy egg. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed my ramen without these two key toppings. They worked nicely with the green onions. What prevents me from giving this place a perfect rating is flagging a server to get me water, or to frankly flag any staffer for something, such as ordering dessert or getting the bill. It took effort and hand-waving to get their attention. It took two tries to get a glass of water with ice. I was happy when I got some after I had finished my Diet Coke. It was equally as cold and yummy. I ordered dessert. The menu is stuck on each table. I asked what ice cream flavours were available. There were two flavours and I went with matcha. It was rich, creamy, and full of strong matcha flavour. The scoop of ice cream was generous. I loved the small spoon, which allowed this dessert to last a lot longer. I asked for the bill. I got a payment machine. I used my credit card to pay and tip. All was great. I used the washroom before I headed over to explore the downtown area. The washrooms are downstairs. It's an older building, so accessibility is an issue. There are two single-stall washrooms. The one that I used was clean. Because it's an older building, the ceiling is low. I am just shy of six feet in height. I made it without hitting my head on the ceiling. If you are six feet and taller, you'll need to duck to make sure you don't bang your head. Staff say goodbye to you when you leave. It was a nice touch, although I don't know what they are saying to me in Japanese. They could be swearing at me and I wouldn't know. I had a wonderful experience here. If you don't mind sitting close to folks and waving your arms like a maniac to get your server's attention, come here. This ramen joint appeared as a Michelin place in 2017. I can see why. The food quality is excellent. (200)
