We made reservations for 3 people at 5:30 PM as that was the only place in the North End we could get reservations before a concert nearby at TD Garden. I was a bit apprehensive to visit because I thought their menu online was limited and more "main stream" Italian that you could get anywhere. The restaurant is cozy and there are 2 single restrooms for the entire restaurant. We were seated by the open window and it was nice to people watch as it was a warm 80 degree day for October. I got a sangria for $14.00. It was OK. The food arrived really quick, within minutes. The sausage and broccoli rabe white pizza was good. The pizza was crispy and there were plenty of toppings. The arancini and potato croquetts was also yummy. I'd get those again. The hostess came over and took our menus before we ordered our dinner, which was probably a good thing because we were already full. Found an insect in my wine, when I addressed it with the waitress, she brought me a new one, no apology but seemed pretty annoyed that I was disgusted. This was a huge put off and when asked if everything was okay I replayed no. I was pretty annoyed with the service and displeased with how she had handled it. So she brought over the manager who proceeded to tell me that because of the open windows bugs are likely to come in and be in your food and drinks. Anyway, my first and last experience with them. However, my margherita pizza was severely undercooked (it was sopping wet and had a pretty gross texture) and it was pretty bland overall. The staff at this restaurant need major training. How is it that for a dish you asked to be boxed 'to go' your waiter returns to the table with the 'to go' meal boxed and leaves it on the floor, kitchen hygiene 101? Leaving food on the floor? We complain to the manager whom sees nothing wrong with a meal being left on the ground, his comment is "it's in a bag." To top things off, I ask the manager for the parking ticket to be validated and his response was "we don't validate." After being turned away from a few other open establishments along Hanover, we were told that yes, they (Quattro) had a table. While the setting overall is pretty tight, they made it work. I came here for lunch a while ago and really enjoyed the food! It was incredibly tasty. My friend and I also split a pizza and the pizza was some of the best I've had at the North End. We sat by the door which was a mistake. It became very busy and everyone was waiting by that area and I felt as if I was being watched the whole time. Favorite spot in the North End! The perfect spot to enjoy great food at a slightly lower price then some of the other north end spots. This is my go spot when in the area. I got the Margherita mozzarella di Bufala, Artichoke (white pizza) and Figs, Arugula & Goat Cheese (white pizza) with Gnocchi di Patate con Bufala e Pomodori di Collina. All three pizzas were fantastic... the best ingredients. And its fun to order a few different kinds and split amongst the group. The gnocchi was also fantastic, I definitely recommend it. As I said the prices are much more reasonable than other spots, but this is more of a casual setting, and its the North End so prices are still up there. Also ordered a few drinks... all of which were great (definitely strong for those who like it that way... also getting your monies worth). Very nice and modern inside with a few tables, and a small bar, very cozy and less crowds. When the weather cooperates, the outdoor seating is great! So nice to be in the middle of it all! We had a few other options that were ok- but the pizza was pretty amazing :) it felt fairly "touristy" and I believe the owners of this restaurant were the same owners of a few other restaurants on the block because they were shuffling people from one to the other when there were no more tables. Again the pizza was quite amazing. Come for the that. Its also family friendly because we had a baby that wasn't behaving- in fact the baby was throwing a tantrum and most people didn't event look. Manager was rude and unprofessional. Had a very negative experience with the manager. I was on a date and I wasn't sure if i was going to order food or not. The manager removed my plate from my table and told me to drink at the bar. They have a strange "policy" that if you don't order food then you are NOT ALLOWED sit at a table and are required to drink at the bar. They don't value the customer, just see us as money. There was nothing there! Hardly any lettuce, hardly any dressing, hardly any croutons, and the kicker - cheese from a parmesan shaker like you put on your pizza. Can't even spring for shaved or real parmesan? On an $11 salad? Almost asked for the check right then but the gf convinced me to just ride it out. Well, we shouldn't have. I got the spaghetti and meatballs ($22). I was saying the italian menu name, Tagliolini Freschi and was cut off by the waitress who said "spaghetti and meatballs" so I'll call it that. Two tiny meatballs and a small portion of spaghetti in an underwhelming sauce, presented in a saucepan that was mostly empty and looked weird. Wasn't expecting to spend $33 and still be hungry after but I certainly did. One thing i will say is that the pizza looked decent. The loud high schoolers next to us all got them. The menu is very small but has different options for whatever the craving is. I had her prosciutto pizza and eggplant perm for an appetizer. I would love to give this restaurant four star because several of the menu items are very tasty, but I can only settle on two stars because of two things. First, the host, or who I assume is the host, was probably the least welcoming and friendly individual that should be in a host position. When our party of six arrived, the most he could muster was a head nod towards the table, at which we would be seated. He didn't utter a single word as we squeezed ourselves into a tiny space without his assistance in any way. Nor did he express thanks or appreciation when bringing us our $320 bill at the end of the meal. Secondly, while the various menu items, including the meatballs and the rotisserie chicken were quite good, prices at this restaurant are just disproportionate to the quantity of food, regardless of the taste or restaurant location. Three meatballs for $19? A Caesar salad consisting of perhaps less than 1/2 of head of romaine for $14? Tiny place in need of a good cleaning and friendlier staff. We enjoyed our meal at Quattro, but I had to take off one star for two reasons: 1. The spaghetti with meatballs came with one medium-sized meatball. For 24 bucks, there should have been either one large meatball, or 2 medium ones at least. 2. Our check total pre-tip was 178 bucks and we asked to split it in two. Somehow, when the two split checks came, the total on each was $112. Dudes, don't mess with the graduates of the USSR specialized math schools! I've lived in The North End for a year now and this is the first time I tried Quattro. Ordered takeout. Arugula, fig & goat cheese pizza and meatball madness. Arrived to find a kind gentlemen at the door who told me that his colleagues at the end of the bar would gladly help me with my take-out order. I went to the bar, told a young woman I was there for takeout, she said something to the gentleman at the end of the bar and directed me that way. He just looked at me, no smile, no hello how can I help you, he just did a quick chin lift at me with an attitude as if "what do you want." Didn't say a word. I said I was there to pick up a take-out order. Never answered me, looked away and said something I didn't understand to one of the workers, tapped the computer and held his hand out for my payment without even looking at me. He did not say how much the bill was, or even utter a first word. I put my credit card on the counter so he would have to turn around and pick it up. He picked it up, scanned it, and handed me my bill to sign without even saying another word. Once I signed it, he said "your meatballs will be out in a minute." I have never met anyone this rude or unwelcoming that works in the food service industry. Honestly. Shame on him as he gave the restaurant a bad review. The pizza was very good. I would say I'd get it again, but I doubt I will be back to Quattro. The meatballs were just okay. I've had many better in The North End. WAIT! Now, I just compared my recipe to the menu. Seriously?! Overcharged to boot?!! I did go online (off Yelp) to compare the prices which were what I was charged in the end. So who's responsible for updating Yelp? I trust that the prices listed are current. I ordered the Lobster Ravioli for takeout and got back home only to find that the dish barely even took up one quarter of the takeout box. VIOLENTLY disappointing for a dish that costs over 26 dollars NOT including tax or tip. I was also not given the bread I was told would come with my meal. I've been to Quattro multiple times now and keep going back for their Quattro Formaggi pizza. It's my favorite pizza of all time. This time I got a sausage skewer which was delicious. The broccoli rabe and potatoes that came with it were only alright... not worth the 20+ dollars. It is a small restaurant that can become uncomfortably crowded and there is honestly zero parking within a half mile (unless you have a permit). The host is always pleasant but this time we had an unfortunately terrible experience with the waiter Once seated we read the menu and put it aside suggesting we were ready to order. Then the waiter came over, I do not know his name but he looked slightly like Hugh jackman no lie. He filled us up with water and we asked for the bread after putting in orders to which he rolled his eyes, said nothing, and walked away. We love this bread, it is a part of the Quattro experience but we ended up getting it over 15 minutes later at which point our food was almost ready. The waiter never asked us how the meal was or if he could get us something else to drink. He did clear our place but never made eye contact. It was very uncomfortable and he also never introduced himself. The meal, as I said before was good. The pizza delicious as always but the other entree was over priced. We cleaned our plates and asked for a box. Again the waiter did not respond but came later with the box. Never offered dessert or coffee and came with the check. I would give this a Lower review because this particular experience was dreadful but I've been so many times before that I know it can be good, and that one pizza is amazing.
