Ended up finding this GEM after a disappointing dinner at a total tourist trap. Massimo greeted us at the door and got us to the bar. Our bartender and drinks were great! Highly recommend the espresso martini and the old fashion. We decided to come back for dinner the next night to try out the FARE UN VIAGGIO for the four of us. There was a slight wait due to the Bruins game (enter more martinis and old fashions) but ended up sitting at a window table. Our bartender was very attentive and checked up on us often, our waiter was fabulous! So on to the food...So Much Food! Meatballs are ‍. The peppers in the calamari make this dish! Chicken parm was so tender. Scallops were cooked to perfection. The fish had a perfect crust to it. Every thing had amazing flavor! So glad we stumbled upon this place. Will have to make another trip out to Boston! Thank you to Massimo and your wonderful crew!

Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious. It just felt a little basic compared to other locations in the area, especially for the price. The biggest issue I had was the staff was not very kind or attentive. They scoffed at us when we entered, and did not treat us like I would expect for this price. We weren't even finished with our dinner before they came and took it away to box it for us. Felt like they were kicking us out. Don't know if we are not the normal people who come in, but it left a bad taste in my mouth, despite the delicious food.

10/10. We frequent the North End, and have found arguably our favorite spot. We were greeted by the owner upon arrival. Very nice guy!! He recommended that we try the chefs selection menu, and we did. For starters we got the meatballs and a fried burrata with a spicy vodka sauce. Both were 10/10. We then each got a bolognese, also fantastic. Our next course was the ribeye and chicken parm. Again, both were excellent. I would recommend Arya to any and everyone. We will be coming back very soon.

A nice small trattoria on the 2nd floor with high quality Italian fare . Had the meatballs and Pesto Rigatoni both very good . Recommend the window table overlooking the street . Viewed a marching band with some patron saint come down the street . I would return to this establishment only after trying some other restaurants on Hanover street . First timers give this restaurant a try , you won't be disappointed.

Three adults and a kid made early evening reservations for dinner. Part of being a historic-type building comes with some antiquated infrastructure; dinner was off to a difficult start right away as we had significant trouble getting the stroller up the narrow stairway and there wasn't really anywhere to put it. They were otherwise very accommodating of the baby and set us up with a high chair right away. For antipasti we ordered caprese and calamari. I was not expecting the portion sizes to be nearly as giant as they were. The thick slices of mozzarella were so fresh. Would have been nice to have some balsamic drizzle and higher-quality tomato. The calamari portion was huge and the fried pickled peppers were a fun novelty. We went heavy on the primi with mushroom ravioli, lobster gnocchi, and truffle mac and cheese for the little one. My wife was completely gaga for the ravioli, which I thought were ok. The truffle mac and cheese was good. The gnocci themselves were fine but the lobster was a little tough and it was hard to distinguish what was lobster and what was pasta under all the sauce. I thought the quantity of lobster was reasonable. We went with the pork oso buco for our secondi. The meat was tender and served in a tomato sauce. Also good, but didn't stand out in any way. Overall, we got an incredible quantity of food, but nothing really blew me away. A solid meal for a reasonable price, I was happy with our trip to the north end.

If you like Italian food - The North End of Boston is a MUST VISIT!!! We made reservations to come here on a Friday night while visiting Boston... The place was packed when we got there for our 7PM time. The staff was friendly, all of them were. The menu is loaded with excellent looking options, which made it tough for us to choose, so when our server told us about the chef's dinner option, we took it! Basically, for $70 per person, you get: * Salad to share - Ours was a large caprese made with their amazing Bufala cheese * Appetizer - Their soft, moist, flavorful, and BIG meatballs! They were outstanding and had a great red sauce on them! * Pasta course - Pasta with Bolognese and it was excellent!! * 2 main dishes that were HUGE o One was their braised beef short rib and it was honestly one of the BEST beef dishes I've ever had - the sauce, the meat and it's flavor and tenderness - it was truly outstanding! o They also gave us their HUGE chicken parm and it was excellent as well! All definitely excellent food and an amazing deal - Highly recommend stopping in!!

Very intimate and small restaurant. The food was very good and service was good as well. I would try to make a reservation instead of just showing up. .

We made reservations for our 1 year anniversary, and was a little disappointed the host nor waiter took note of that since it was a special night for us. We each had a glass of wine, I tried the "staff pick", which I was very pleased with. The appetizers were incredible and very generous portions. The calamari was very crispy and tender. The lamb chops were big enough to be a meal! For my entree, I got the Osso bucco, their house specialty- which was good, but for a specialty dish, could have been better. The seasonings seemed off- the sauce was very salty, but the pork was not. It could have been more flavorful and more tender.

Small, hole in the wall type of feel. We sat by the window which was a nice view and felt less compact than sitting in between different parties of people. You definitely need a reservation in advance as this place is quite popular in the north end. My dinner partner and I had the halibut special which was very tasty. The dish came with butternut squash and roasted vegetables, I felt full but not heavy after my meal. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and the portion was large enough to feed four people or more. We felt the calamari could have been better if they were less fried and less crispy - they felt more like calamari chips but that might be a preference for some.

Went here for work dinner. Small spot, like tiny. But service was great. Drinks were good! Food was 3/5. Some people loved their food others were eh. Loved the appetizers. Octopus was amazing. I'd say it's a go to!

My friends and I came for a quick drink hoping we'd get lucky. Fortunately for us, my sister knew the amazing hostess Fiona who was more than happy to make some quick accommodations for our short stay. She made us a delicious expresso martini as well as two cosmos. Fiona was even kind enough to produce us with some shots that almost tasted like lemonade. Overall, I had a great experience in this comfortable and fun environment. From the glimpses of food I saw being brought out to the tables, I would be more than happy to come again!

    Happy Birthday to me!

One small thing -- maybe it was just me, but the entrance was a little difficult to find at first since it's mainly just a door from the outside. There were also tables seated very close to the entrance, which made it feel a bit cramped and awkward walking in and out. Our waiter was friendly and nice, though the service did feel a little rushed at times. That said, the food was absolutely delicious. We started with the calamari to share, and it was beautifully prepared -- crispy, fresh, and not overly heavy. For my entree, I ordered the seafood pasta and really loved it. The seafood tasted fresh, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavors all came together really well.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

The bread had large air pockets, visibly soft, with a rich aroma of salt and milk; the olive oil was smooth and mellow, with a full-bodied fragrance, and the aftertaste even included a subtle, restrained hint of tea. Even knowing it's a calorie bomb, I couldn't resist dipping it in more. Baccala Mantecato: Classic Venetian flavor. The salted cod was tender and delicate, almost like a light foam, somewhere between raw silk and mousse; the dark bread was simple yet not coarse, perfectly balancing the saltiness of the cod. The most surprising thing was the refreshing aroma of celery leaves that emerged in the aftertaste, lingering and persistent. Lumache: When looking at the menu, seeing "chili butter, Jonah crab, breadcrumb," I never expected such a distinct citric acidity. The subtle acidity was gently enveloped in the fatty aroma of chili butter, perfectly complementing the umami and sweetness of the crab meat with just the right amount of spiciness. The lumache were firm and chewy, the sauce rich and smooth, and the breadcrumbs light and crisp, creating a rich and distinct texture. The portion was generous; even after microwaved the next day, the sauce had naturally broken down and the lemon's tartness had dissipated, but the noodles mixed with chili oil still had a unique flavor. Tiramisu: Highly renowned, and the staff were quite confident. The surface was covered with a thick layer of crispy cocoa nibs, the cake itself is incredibly soft and moist, and digging inside reveals an "underground river" of coffee liquid, while its bitterness was perfectly balanced by the sweet Marsala. The overall flavor was sweet and mellow, less bitter than typical tiramisu, with more layers of complexity. Actually, I was hoping for a slightly bitter version. Even on a weekday, it was packed with customers; by 5:10 PM, only one bar seat was left. Reservations are highly recommended. However, the bar was in a good location, with the bartenders being the easiest servers to find. It was a pleasant conversation with them.

The service is so friendly and seamless which in itself makes for a lovely evening. Highlights were the mussels, which were very fresh and delicious. The service here was attentive with the waiters offering more bread for the mussels. Most dishes are a little spicy, so if you don't like spice, make sure to note that with the waiter. The miso gelato is one of the most delicious savory/sweet desserts, and has lots of nice crunchy accents of the sesame crumble. Cocktails are fabulous, very smooth, as well as the mocktails. Cons: The crostini was nothing really special, and one of them came without the oyster butter. The meatballs, which were tasty but had a slightly hard texture on the outside. The prawn risotto was pretty one-note in flavor, and the prawn heads tasted overcooked and slightly off. The radiatore was spicy and nicely plated. The Cremoso al Cioccolato had a strange flavor profile that didn't quite fit, and had such a large salted chocolate-truffle section that we did not finish it (which is saying something)! Overall, if you are looking for a solid dinner in Boston that will guarantee be a nice experience because of the atmosphere, this is a good place.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out.
