Walking in, I loved the vibes! It gave modern tiki bar feeling, it was clean and felt very warm and inviting. We sat at the bar and was greeted by the bartender and a very extensive and beautiful leather bound menu! I loved that haha! They had everything from classic tiki drinks, to modern, to drinks by liquor type, etc. It had the food menu, some information about the bar and how it came about. We ordered a few drinks: Bushido Rhapsody (DELICIOUS), Stars & Sarsaparilla (husband liked it) and their currently rotating tiki drink - Escape from Black Mountain, which serves 2 and is served in a cool mug of the bust of Pedro Menendez. You can purchase it as well! It was so good and felt never ending between the 2 of us drinking it. For food we ordered a couple of apps - Cajun Chicken Eggrolls and the Montenegro Meatballs. Both were fantastic!! If we didn't already have dinner plans, we would have stayed here for dinner! Definitely will be coming back here next time we are in town and every time after that!

I should have said "what is that brown stuff? Oh I'm allergic to it and had it redone. Not good. Maybe my last time there or next time ask. "Do you drizzle balsamic, wich is not real balsamic on the flatbread? You do? Why is it not on the menu? Leave that off. Ambiance is fine very French although I don't know if any staff are French. My entree was shrimp scampi - the sauce was like soup, the fettuccine noodles were stuck together and the shrimp had the tails on (a pet peeve of mine - why do you need to leave the tails on so the customer has to touch the food to get them off)? The worst was my wife's chicken parmigiana, it was served in a sweet brown cream sauce that I'm still trying to get the taste out of my mouth. The chicken was just okay but it had skin and bones on it. She could only eat about 10% of it and of course we didn't take it home. On the other hand our server, Desiree was excellent always on the ball! The atmosphere of the place is romantic and well appointed. We will not be back!

It saddens me to write this review of a restaurant with so many positive reviews, but sadly this…read morerestaurant missed on just about all of the food that we got. The service was pretty good, I can admit, however even that could've been better. We got started with our evening with a bottle of wine which was reasonably priced. The house arancini was chicken stuffed, which we were only told about after we ordered the dish. Sadly, the chicken pieces were large and there was just not enough cheese to really make this dish work - nor enough sauce. I even got a piece of bone in my arancini, which just ruined my appetite. We then had decided on the chicken parm for the main course (which later we realized was rather similar to the arancini). The first chicken parm piece that was got was rather large in size, however as we cut into the dish we noticed that half of the meat was still pink and cold to the touch. We showed our waiter, and instead of treating us with some empathy, we were told that "well its not our fault, but I've been trying to tell the guys in the back to pound the meat before cooking it." We were given another piece of chicken, and it was only slightly better than the first piece, but we ate a few bites and called it an evening. It's too bad, I'd be willing to try this place out for other dishes but I don't know if I'll choose this place again, knowing there are other options nearby. The best part of the evening was the ambiance and the wine, so maybe a happy hour in the future is in order.

The servers are knowledgeable of the menu and able to answer many specific questions. At times the service felt a little rushed, which is why I gave it a 4/5, but nothing to deter me from going again. Atmosphere: 5/5 It is truly a beautiful restaurant. The décor, the lighting, the cultural aspects on the wall, the different sections of the restaurant...all really contribute to a vibrant and authentic experience. They've recently expanded as well, and I was blown away. Value: 4/5 This is truly an experience. The pricing can be a little pricey, but I believe it is worth it. This is probably not a casual night out for dinner, but a nice date night, a celebration, or an elevated experience. Opportunities for Learning: 5/5 The menu has many traditional Peruvian options with unique twists. The menu maintains many of the Spanish names for the dishes, so the menu will have you googling. I first learned about the anticuchos cooking style at Llama, and I continue to learn every time I go back.

Reservations are usually required since they get full real quick. The server was kind and explained the menu and meal service to us. We started with specialty cocktails. Everything is hand made and fresh. You can taste the difference. We got some appetizers. Personally, my favorite was the yucca with the trio of dipping sauces. Each sauce was better than the last, and I wanted to continue eating each one long after it was done. The octopus was delicate and melted in your mouth. The flavor combos in the volcano dish were so wonderful. It was like chips and dip. I was most excited for my meal. The pesto pasta with the hanger steak. EVERY.THING.WAS.AMAZING in this dish. I was savoring each bite. Getting sad when I was reaching the end. The pesto was packed with flavor. Creamy and aromatic. The hanger steak?! Oh boy... perfectly cooked. Juicy. Melted in your mouth. I wanted a lot more of that. What a great piece of meat. I was reallllly looking forward to dessert. And it did not disappoint! I got the s'mores dessert. I love s'mores everything. And this was an elevated s'mores like I never had before. The presentation was WOW. The smore was in a bag that they lit on fire at the table. The fire charred the marshmallow on top perfectly. The Carmel on top of the delegate shortbeard was melt in your mouth. Those shortbeard cookies were incredible. Buttery and crumbly. Perfect. The strawberry compote to mix with it was fresh and bursting with flavor. All the flavors melding together to light your taste buds on fire! I would LOVE to return and try some more items. We had a wonderful experience!

Sadly it was not the case in my opinion here. The martini was mostly like juice, só citric that it was hard to drink. I asked the waiter to change for the key lime one as it seems to be a popular choice but he offered to bring me his cucumber martini. He said his was better. I thought it was a nice gesture and imagined he was going to make from scratch a new one with his style, but... even though his was a lot better than the first one I received. I could see that his was probably just the first one watered down a bit and with some more simple syrup. I could still taste a heavy lime presence in the drink. That gave me the hint that was not a fresh remake. I was able to drink the majority but could not finish it. Overall the service and friendliness is great, but the martini I had was not great.
