The city was packed for Night of Lights kickoff. Not a place without a long line. We somehow ended up here, quite lucky to find a table. Our server Jude, was bustling all night. The place seemed understaffed for the overwhelming crowds. But Jude got it done as did the rest of the staff. Fresh catch of the day was mahi. Oh my goodness, I swear it's the best I've had. It was a cute little spot amidst all the shopping. I think if they had a few cocktail tables out front in view of shops it would attract more attention. My husband thankfully spotted it coming out of the public RR, as it is kind of hidden. There are so many signs/shops distracting you, that we think they'd draw more attention with something like a few table Ms out front. Absolutely the most shockingly rude service we have ever encountered. My husband and I stopped in for a drink on a Saturday evening. We stood at the bar waiting patiently for a bartender. Ten minutes later the bartender returned and asked each patron if they needed another drink skipping over my husband. My husband said " I'll take something " and the bartender answered with "you can take the door". There was absolutely no reason for this response. I know it's very busy in St Augustine during nights of lights but is no reason to treat local customers that way. read more

This was an excellent stop. We had purchased the Explorer's Passport at the vistor's center. It included a small discount at a couple restaurants so that brought us here. But discount aside, still an excellent stop. An excellent run flight for my spouse... a great gin and tonic for me using St. Augustine Distillery gin... and GREATFOOD. My spouse had amazing fish tacos, the guacamole we shared was well prepared... I had the big boy burrito with pork-- very good! My kiddos eliminated alll thebwxcelent ingredients from the burgers but even as basic burgers they were expertly prepared... and my one niece had steak soft tacos-- all looked excellent. We picked this place for lunch because of my hubby's obsession with fish tacos. The Baja tacos looked amazing in the pictures. The outdoor seating was more appealing to us than the indoor. We had a view of the colonial quarter next door. Hubby order the grilled swordfish tacos which were a special. These were really good with the freshest grilled corn salsa. I ordere the Baja fish tacos. These were great except for the breading. They would be perfect grilled but because of the cilantro cream dressing and cabbage slaw, the breading lost its crispness. Lovely quaint place and good food. The place can get a little tight inside, but there is a large outdoor terrace. There is no fans outside however, so it gets way too hot outside on summer days. Ordered carne asada tacos. They were fantastic. The meat was fresh and really flavorful. Comes with a side of rice and beans which is a nice bonus. Downside is it only brings two tacos. We came to St Augustine to see the Night of Lights and decided to get food on St. George Street and afternoon trying multiple restaurants with long waits, we stumbled into Taberna del Caballo. The wait staff greeted us and was super polite as we sat down immediately and received complimentary chips and salsa which was delicious and much needed! Our server was very polite and the wait time for our food was fairly short. I got the Cuban sandwich and my girlfriend got the mix and match tacos with Carne Asada and Fish as her choice. The Cuban was delectable with everything super hot, a great amount of mustard, pickle and mayo to cut the juiciness pork and the fries were a perfect side dish! Popped in for some oysters. SO fresh! I came in thinking I'd share half a dozen, but ended up having 9 each.

Great great atmosphere with the pups. It was nice and shaded with a great ambiance. We sat down and started with street corn that comes on the Cobb and some Patatas Bravas. These are not your typical version of Patatas Bravas. They are more of French fries with lots of paprika and a dipping sauce. It was good, just not what I expected. The salad and fish was the best. Really fresh. The fish tacos were fabulous too. Not too much of a heavy breading and balanced with a good slaw. The streak tacos had crispy bacon in them which was really unique. My fiancé loved it. The refried beans were not our favorite but to be honest I have never had any I was thrilled with. Good time and they even brought water out for our three dogs. We had McKayla as a server and she was really friendly and sweet. And got our order right the first time :). Thanks girl! The drinks were pretty decent too. The bartender actually knew what a French 75 was so that is always a plus in my book. Overall great spot in St. Augustine, FL. Especially if you have pups. read more

We came here as our last stop on a BeetleJuice Cocktail tour. They close at 10 but we were here well past closing as our group finished our pitchers of Sangria and snacks. We were not rushed out. We stopped at this restaurant for dinner and let me tell you... we had wings with Guava BBQ sauce.. beer, cocktails, loaded nachos, Tapas, and for dessert we got this sweet plantains with caramel cinnamon sauce and vanilla ice cream on top OMG TO DIE FOR. Unfortunately, the service is not always the best. They usually have Spanish music playing. Live music on the weekends. Picnic tables are the outside seating. Upon checking out posted menu my husband and I decided to check out this restaurant, we had our choice of indoor or outdoor seating and chose outdoor. After being sat it took close to 15 minutes for server to come take our drink order. Our server Vanessa was nice enough but she had 2 tables with larger parties and my husband and I seemed to be forgettable as patrons. I ordered the Mexican Street Corn and was rather disappointed with it, besides not being very hot it was rather tasteless. I also had the Big Boy burrito, my husband had the Dirty Rice bowl. Both had okay flavor but arrived so quickly and were not very hot either, we imagine they were prepared earlier in the evening and then warm in microwave. The beverage prices of a bit high for soft drinks but other price were not that bad. We will probably not return. read more

I really wanted this place to be good. Really, really did. But it just wasn't.. My friend and I were first drawn to this place because of its outside patio, which is honestly probably the best part. This place is really good with aesthetics. Our food looked good and the outdoor seating looked good, but the food tasted not so much good. We started with a sampling platter with meats and cheeses. It's kind of hard to mess this kind of thing up, but it wasn't my favorite. The whole thing was covered with balsamic and there was a huge pile of artichokes and I just wasn't entirely into it. I kind of felt like each part of it was chewy and the components lacked the freshness I normally like in a charcuterie plate. On the other hand, like I mentioned before- it really was pretty. We also ordered a liter of red sangria, which was actually not bad. Not really any complaints, it was sweet, had fruit, was served in a carafe and did the trick. Next followed flatbreads. This was when things got a little interesting. I ordered the pulled pork flatbread and for lack of a better explanation I think the cheese had gone bad. It was wafting this smell that honestly made me nauseous. I barely ate a piece and ended up throwing the leftovers away the next day. My friend ordered the shrimp and chorizo flatbread which was actually kind of comical because it had almost the exact components of the mezze platter but just on a flatbread. TAKEAWAY- I'd bring family or friends here to sit outside on the patio and drink sangria, especially if they have live music, but that's IT. Don't waste time or $ on the actual food. read more

This is a great lunch or light dinner spot hidden in the quarter. I've been here a couple of times now and the food was surprisingly tasty. The menu is diverse enough for the pickiest of eaters. The salads are big enough to share and the Cuban sandwich is pretty big, too. Both items are very flavorful and recommended. The St. George Salad is a tasty one with really yummy balsamic dressing. It was loaded with tons of veggies, cranberries and nuts--a solid salad with tons of flavors and textures going on for sure, but in a good way. The Cuban sandwich was delicious and had a lot more roasted pork inside it than I expected. It was also served with kettle chips. The fish tacos were an excellent choice and big enough for a nice meal. They give you two large tacos served with sauces that just work really well together. So good! And if you bring the kiddos, they have a special menu for them that won't break the bank. They have an assortment of flatbreads and tapas from which to choose depending on your appetite. Kids' pizza is pretty much flatbread pizza with a thin crust, sauce and cheese. No frills but pretty darn good if they don't manage to finish it. Items are also served with potato chips. My last visit, I had a Bloody Mary and it was beautifully decorated with a large green olive, a nice chunk of chorizo and slice of sundried tomato speared on a toothpick complete with a salt and pepper rim. However, the actual drink was just OK and could have used a lot more vodka. Overall, this place is very understated, but the food is solid. The service is decent for being right on St. George St. and they have a good sized bar inside if you're on a liquid lunch. Options to eat at the bar or inside dining areas (air conditioned with fans) or outside on their spacious deck is an added plus. However, the food is definitely worth the visit. read more

Good food found on the main drag in historic St. Augustine. Simple food at a decent price. The indoor seating at night is quite dark, but the outdoor seating is the place to be. The covered patio has twinkling lights and has live music almost every night. The food is great and the appetizers are great for sharing. Their wings are really good, but the hummus lacked flavor. While visiting St. Augustine I passed by this cute hidden restaurant. I saw that they had outdoor seating and I had my dog with me so i decided to stop by and grab a bite to eat. We had to wait a few minutes for a table to open up because it was packed but it was Saturday so we understood. Once we got seated the host so kindly brought my dog a bowl of water. Unfortunately she drank too fast and ended up getting sick. The host again was so kind and brought us a bunch of napkins to clean up the mess. The only reason I gave this place more than one star is because the hosts were so kind and helpful and did way more for us than our server. The only thing our server did was take our appetizer order. Other people were bringing our food, checking on us and we got tired of waiting for our server to take our order we asked a host to get our check. We got the tapas board for our appetizer and for $20 it was very small and did not taste good. My first time in St. Augustine and it took us a while to decide on a place to eat but Taberna's menu looked pretty good and I was excited to try some of their items. They started us off with salsa and chips which everyone liked. I started off with the nachos which I loved and could definitely eat again. As for the main entrees, I got the carne asada tacos which had crispy bacon and fries in the taco. I was amazed and it was so delicious. My friend got the Baja tacos and it was with their catch of day, which was flounder. We also ordered the chicken sandwich and the rice bowl with chicken.
