A great bar with awesome mixologist

We only stopped in for drinks but the drinks were amazing! Mikala(sp?) was mixing some great drinks and even talked me into trying a old fashioned made with a peanut butter flavored whiskey. It was delicious! Very laid back place with some really friendly people.

The flank steak classic dish... with beans/rice and tortillas. My niece LOVED it.

This was an excellent stop. We had purchased the Explorer's Passport at the vistor's center. It included a small discount at a couple restaurants so that brought us here. But discount aside, still an excellent stop. An excellent run flight for my spouse... a great gin and tonic for me using St. Augustine Distillery gin... and GREATFOOD. My spouse had amazing fish tacos, the guacamole we shared was well prepared... I had the big boy burrito with pork-- very good! My kiddos eliminated alll thebwxcelent ingredients from the burgers but even as basic burgers they were expertly prepared... and my one niece had steak soft tacos-- all looked excellent. Really... it was all great. Good service both from the bar and dining area and the food and drinks were all great!

We picked this place for lunch because of my hubby's obsession with fish tacos. The Baja tacos looked amazing in the pictures. The outdoor seating was more appealing to us than the indoor. We had a view of the colonial quarter next door. Hubby order the grilled swordfish tacos which were a special. These were really good with the freshest grilled corn salsa. I ordere the Baja fish tacos. These were great except for the breading. They would be perfect grilled but because of the cilantro cream dressing and cabbage slaw, the breading lost its crispness. The beans on the side were tasty too.

Lovely quaint place and good food. The place can get a little tight inside, but there is a large outdoor terrace. There is no fans outside however, so it gets way too hot outside on summer days. Ordered carne asada tacos. They were fantastic. The meat was fresh and really flavorful. Comes with a side of rice and beans which is a nice bonus. Downside is it only brings two tacos. Solid place to come eat while walking through the old town.

We came to St Augustine to see the Night of Lights and decided to get food on St. George Street and afternoon trying multiple restaurants with long waits, we stumbled into Taberna del Caballo. The wait staff greeted us and was super polite as we sat down immediately and received complimentary chips and salsa which was delicious and much needed! Our server was very polite and the wait time for our food was fairly short. I got the Cuban sandwich and my girlfriend got the mix and match tacos with Carne Asada and Fish as her choice. The Cuban was delectable with everything super hot, a great amount of mustard, pickle and mayo to cut the juiciness pork and the fries were a perfect side dish! The tacos were also really tasty with a great side dish of rice and beans. I was glad the other places were so busy so we found a gem like this!

Great great atmosphere with the pups. It was nice and shaded with a great ambiance. We sat down and started with street corn that comes on the Cobb and some Patatas Bravas. These are not your typical version of Patatas Bravas. They are more of French fries with lots of paprika and a dipping sauce. It was good, just not what I expected. The salad and fish was the best. Really fresh. The fish tacos were fabulous too. Not too much of a heavy breading and balanced with a good slaw. The streak tacos had crispy bacon in them which was really unique. My fiancé loved it. The refried beans were not our favorite but to be honest I have never had any I was thrilled with. Good time and they even brought water out for our three dogs. We had McKayla as a server and she was really friendly and sweet. And got our order right the first time :). Thanks girl! The drinks were pretty decent too. The bartender actually knew what a French 75 was so that is always a plus in my book. Overall great spot in St. Augustine, FL. Especially if you have pups.

We're visiting from NY ... and this place called St. Agustin is awesome. We stopped at this restaurant for dinner and let me tell you... we had wings with Guava BBQ sauce.. beer, cocktails, loaded nachos, Tapas, and for dessert we got this sweet plantains with caramel cinnamon sauce and vanilla ice cream on top OMG TO DIE FOR. I def recommend this place and if we have the chance to come back and visit again, we'll def come back to this restaurant.

I had a delicious whiskey sour here! We also ordered some raw oysters and conch fritters which were amazing as well. This place is so cozy and cute and the perfect place to stop in town.

I find myself stopping by here whenever I'm in St Augustine. I do like this place. I mainly go here for the bar. I love the sangría. It's very sweet, which I like. It's rustic and somewhat romantic. Unfortunately, the service is not always the best. They usually have Spanish music playing. Live music on the weekends. Picnic tables are the outside seating. I have tried a few items on their menu, and I have enjoyed all of them. But, the food is not the main reason why I come here, it's the ambiance.

Colton was our friendly bartender and server. The tapas plate we ordered was good. It was my first time enjoying tapas. The white sangria was delicious. A humble place with good food and service.

Caverna de Caballo, Saint Augustine November 16, 2018 Stopped by this place for a quick lunch. This place used to be something else but I don't remember. We were seated and the waitress came by to say hello and to take our drink order. We weren't really hungry so we ordered a beer, a lemonade and shared an appetizer. The waitress was really attentive. The place was really cool. However, the shared appetizer was not what's was listed on their menu but it was delicious. Not really expensive. Good service, great place, good prices. Would we go back again?? Yes!!

Loved the corn app. Found the cauliflower tacos to be dry & lacking something - the chili sauce helped. Next time I would ask for the fries and top them with the pork from the torta ahogado along with their chili sauce. Yum!

Upon checking out posted menu my husband and I decided to check out this restaurant, we had our choice of indoor or outdoor seating and chose outdoor. After being sat it took close to 15 minutes for server to come take our drink order. Our server Vanessa was nice enough but she had 2 tables with larger parties and my husband and I seemed to be forgettable as patrons. I ordered the Mexican Street Corn and was rather disappointed with it, besides not being very hot it was rather tasteless. I also had the Big Boy burrito, my husband had the Dirty Rice bowl. Both had okay flavor but arrived so quickly and were not very hot either, we imagine they were prepared earlier in the evening and then warm in microwave. The beverage prices of a bit high for soft drinks but other price were not that bad. We will probably not return.

It was overwhelming and a bit uncomfortable. Having 3 tiny woman's bathroom stalls for a restaurant that size is ridiculous and anyone off the street could use the restrooms as well. There was quite a wait for the restroom. Nitpicking here but the water glasses were so small, we constantly needed them refilled which is annoying when the restaurant is super busy. I felt bad having to keep asking for it to be refilled. Pros: the food was amazing, so flavorful. Not one bad bite the entire meal. The food: once you order they start you immediately with fresh bread, if I had that at home, I would eat it every meal. I would be so fat, because the fresh bread with the butter is delicious. It is some of the best bread I've ever had. Crunchy on the outside but soo soft inside. A little bit later we got tapas (appetizers) the stuffed mushrooms, and crab coquettes. The mushrooms were so good, tasty, satisfying with the creamy cheese. Again another meal I would eat everyday if I could. We also got the famous 1905 salad. It was good and tasty and everything was fresh, but it tasted just like the Olive Garden salad. Sorry but true. Maybe Olive Garden copied their dressing. The waiter recommended to order the crab stuffed grouper, but I'm not a crab fan. So he recommended the red snapper with the artichokes, onions and sweet red peppers. The snapper was some of the best snapper I've ever had. It just melted in your mouth. The dish was slightly spicy but the tenderness of the snapper made up for it. (I'm not a fan of spicy food). I asked for it with just vegetables and it unfortunately came with the rice and no vegetables. Bummer. Had to ask twice for the side of vegetables, that was really the only downside of the meal. Oh and the fact that their coffee machine was broken. Major bummer. No fun coffee drinks for us today. We ordered dessert. And in my opinion the key lime pie was my favorite. But it's also my favorite dessert and it's hard to mess up a key lime pie. The flan was good also and the they had a special churros dessert with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. I love a good key lime pie though and it was a fresh and creamy. Overall a good meal and experience. I would like to come back on another day when they aren't so busy.

We had a reservation and they sat us right away. Reservations are usually required since they get full real quick. The server was kind and explained the menu and meal service to us. Each sauce was better than the last, and I wanted to continue eating each one long after it was done. The octopus was delicate and melted in your mouth. The flavor combos in the volcano dish were so wonderful. It was like chips and dip. I was most excited for my meal. The pesto pasta with the hanger steak. EVERY.THING.WAS.AMAZING in this dish. I was savoring each bite. Getting sad when I was reaching the end. The pesto was packed with flavor. Creamy and aromatic. The hanger steak?! Oh boy... perfectly cooked. Juicy. Melted in your mouth. I wanted a lot more of that. What a great piece of meat. I was reallllly looking forward to dessert. And it did not disappoint! I got the s'mores dessert. I love s'mores everything. And this was an elevated s'mores like I never had before. The presentation was WOW. The smore was in a bag that they lit on fire at the table. The fire charred the marshmallow on top perfectly. The Carmel on top of the delegate shortbeard was melt in your mouth. Those shortbeard cookies were incredible. Buttery and crumbly. Perfect. The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

Antique, rustic, comfortable, and full of enough character that you almost feel like you've stepped 200 years back in time. Then the drinks arrive, and suddenly you realize you've been transported into the future of cocktails. I wish I could remember the name of the drink I ordered because it was spectacular. Whiskey, a little sweetness, mint, and crushed ice. That's about all I can tell you. What I can tell you is that I could have happily consumed about 30 of them, tumbled down the stairs, and been perfectly happy about the whole experience. My wife went with the Mojito, and it was brilliantly constructed. The crushed ice and layered mint made it look almost too good to drink. Almost. The drinks absolutely deserve five stars. Then came the blue crab beignets, and they were spectacular. That's the kind of appetizer that makes you stop talking for a minute because everyone at the table is too busy enjoying what's happening. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't quite live up to the cocktails. The fish dip was very average and lacked much flavor, and the menu itself felt pretty limited. So here's the deal: if you're coming to The Ice Plant for drinks, I would have no problem giving it five stars. The cocktails are that good. This is a highly recommended stop for a drink in St. Augustine. But I have to review the entire experience, and the limited menu and average fish dip bring the overall experience down a notch. Four stars. Come for the drinks. Stay for the atmosphere. Definitely order the blue crab beignets. And if you happen to find yourself three cocktails deep, admiring the antique decor while contemplating the stairs, maybe just take your time.
