They began by saying there was no room and that "the tables open were reserved and they reserved 3 weeks in advanced". Great food, great Sangria, great location and great atmosphere. It was my fiance and I's last night in St. Augustine and we wanted to try one last new place to eat. We'd been trying to check this place out all week but their hours were all over the place and we were never downtown at the right time. FINALLY, we got here around 6pm and they were open! It was sweet and hit the spot. We ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. This didn't look like your typical bruschetta. The tomatoes, balsamic and cheese and garnishes were piled high atop soft squares of bread. The flavor was packed in and hit your taste buds with that zing. We highly enjoyed this. For dinner, we both order the burritos. My fiance got the chicken pesto and I ordered the shredded beef. Both arrived with excellent presentation. Dipping sauces decorated the plates next to the main course and the side of chips and salsa. The shredded beef was packed with flavor. So good! the chips and salsa were a nice side. The salsa seemed pretty traditional. The burrito was also not the largest which was nice since we didn't leave stuffed but full. It was 10 past 7pm when our waitress let us know to take our time but that they were technically closed 10 minutes ago. We felt bad but she said it was fine. She was super nice and attentive our entire visit. By the end of our meal, my fiance and I had the balcony all to ourselves. We finished our sangria in the peaceful ambiance of Sangrias with the sun setting over Hypolita street. My wife is gluten-free, by necessity, so while the menu isn't very large in the first place, about half or more she couldn't have and there really wasn't any accommodation. We would have gotten a cheese plate if they had gluten-free crackers (which is the easiest thing in the world to buy at any grocery store) but they didn't. Just an FYI for the restaurant, by not accommodating gluten allergic people, your really keeping money from coming in your restaurant because I know we would have spent more. Came for lunch as a group. Sangrias needs to work on the fundamentals of their food. It took forever (read 30+ minutes) for tapas-style bar food to come out. Instead of coming out one dish at a time so that we could all munch and then move on to the next course, every single dish came out at once to a small table that could barely fit all the plates let alone the drinks. Food and drink menus I had to set on the floor to make room. Once the food was finally served, it was abundantly clear how low-effort these pricey, "tapas" dishes are. For example, every single one came with the exact same side salad. So for a table ordering 5 tapas to share, we now had 5 of the same salad. This salad takes up half of each plate. Then onto the actual meat of the dishes if you could find them. Measly portions once you eradicate the side salad. And the flavors were below average. Add to that extravagant prices such as $22 for the tuna, $14.5 for Spanakopita, and $15 for tiny crab cakes - this went past the point of disappointment to the level of tourist scam. read more

There are two separate rooms adjacent to the bar, one of which has live entertainment. There is a small balcony area with about 6 or so 2 tops. With the activity on the streets below, it has a New Orleans French Quarter feel. Food - Just OK. We chose this restaurant because it bills itself as a tapas bar. However, the section of the menu that would be considered tapas was extremely limited. There were maybe 8 items including some items that would be a stretch, at best, to call tapas (caprese salad, nachos, burritos), We shared a citrus shrimp dish that was flavorful, but had only 5 shrimp. We also had the bruschetta. It also was tasty, but the bread was soggy. Finally we had the spanish burrito, which was bland. Service - Disappointing, at best. We ordered the shrimp and bruschetta first. 29 minutes later our server approached us and asked what we ordered!!! When we told him that we assumed that our order was not placed he said that is was but that he was concerned that he put a different table # on the order. 15 minutes later he delivered our order. When I asked why two simple dishes took so long and why other tables were served that came in way after our order was taken, he said that the restaurant is full (when we entered the restaurant it was so empty that the hostess told us we could take whatever table we like because the place was less than half full) and that the food delivered to the other tables was easier to prepare! Really? Not once did our server utter a word of apology! We were not in a hurry, however that was not the point. Our gratuity reflected the level of service (the suggested minimum tip printed on the bill was 18%!!!) Value - Below average. 'The restaurant is in a tourist area and the prices reflect this.
