My rent increased by 500% over the 15 hrs. I was there...of course rent increases over time. I have another storage unit that is a local unit, not chain...and it has increased by 20% over 7 years. If you need your lock cut because you lost your key...good luck. Better call a WEEK out to have someone on site to cut your lock...or you will have to call a locksmith. If you leave your unit earlier in the month, not prorated...used to be. Wait...did I forget to mention the termite excrement all over my items or the water damage caused to some picture frames while they were fixing pipes over my unit?​ How about how difficult it is to speak to a live person or voice a complaint? I went through so many automated messages to finally get a live person...who told me that there is no email in which I can send a message to (not my local storage unit or corporate). Hmmm...pretty convenient that if you do not hear of a problem, you don't have one! DO NOT RENT HERE OR FROM PUBLIC STORAGE. read more

Don't let the pictures fool you!!! I went there twice and there was no one in the office. I was told by some women in front of the office that they had raised her rates multiple time in a short period of time. She also mentioned that there were termites in the unit! I figured she was exaggerating, however when I finally got to my unit and when I opened it there were ants everywhere and the black mold was so bad my sinuses instantly closed!! I managed to find someone on the premises and they canceled my unit and gave me a refund except for the $29.00 admin fee. I would rather set my belongings on fire than store them there. read more

After being a caregiver to my partner in Westlake village for 35 years, he passed of Covid in 2020, I lost everything and walked away from my condo of 30 years, and rent a room in Port Hueneme California,( and had no choice but to rent 2 storage places for the first time in my life at age 60. I was probably at one of the lowest parts of my life, when I encountered one of the sweetest and most helpful employees I have ever encountered in my life!! She truly listened to me, and with her knowledge helped me effortlessly, while easing my anxiety telling me " everything will be all right with her kind and understanding smile:). I have now been renting 2 spaces at public storage for almost 3 years, and want to state that all the employees are super nice, but I must give special thanks to your always friendly and knowledgeable employee Elisabeth!! Pros- - The staff are pretty nice. - The grounds have been undergoing renovation for some time and are looking pretty nice. - They recently hire security which is nice because I'm quite sure there were people living in the units which is forbidden in the lease. Cons- - The access feature in the app is useless because you have to be so close to the access console for it sense you that you have to get out of your car anyway. - You have to buy their lock even if you want to use your own. - monthly rent just went up $50 a month. read more

These people continually increase fee's and do not send notice. They say they have sent it but I never receive it so then I always get a late fee and they will not credit it. The late fee is $60+ dollars and the people really don't care that this happens because if I don't pay they will just sell my stuff. Last year my fee was $455 it is going up to $621 next month. This is the second increas in a year. Looking for a new place. Great price to get you in, just don't use them long term. read more

First off office staff has always been really nice and helpful. As for the policies customer service told me everyone gets a rent increase. They almost doubled my rent. Customer service is rude and puts down the office staff calling them liars. Public storage does not care about there customers and the low price you see, the lock in your rate, is just to get you in. I had a much bigger outside storage unit for $10 more than I'm paying now at Esplanade storage. I should have just stayed there I hadn't even been here 6 mon and they raised the rent. It's ridiculous it's a hassle to move everything. I have second floor tiny inside unit. And pay $127! read more

I think this place has the lowest price for storage in SoCal. I live about 60 miles away from this facility, but it's half the price of what people want me to pay for the same sized unit in the LA area. I guess the distance might be an issue if I had to come here every day, but I just came once, dumped all my junk there and walked away. Awesome. Plus the gas out there is about 20 cents cheaper per gallon than in LA! Service is good, so is the surveillance. Units are all anonymous, so if someone was determined to break into your unit, they'd have a hard time figuring out which one was yours. The indoor units are all climate controlled, so it's a good place to store things like wine and .. uh.. candles. read more

Me and my father in law were looking for a place to store all of our stuff and clear out the garage. We were in a pinch and we needed to move stuff asap. My father in law wanted to move his belongings to another local storage place called lions gate but they had no openings so we were put on a waitlist and we started looking for a place to keep our stuff in the meantime. We looked at several places and we couldn't come to an agreement on price, cleanliness and size for our prospective unit. We were just about to give up until I told him to check out public storage. He didn't really want to at first but they were the cheapest in town and they were close to our home so we figured we can move in for a month or two until lions gate called us back. Public Storage ended up being a great decision for our temporary stay! The place is always open and they have little carts we could use to cart our stuff upstairs to our unit. The workers were nice and the girl in the front office knew my name and unit number by memory which meant a lot to me. One time I left the unit locked incorrectly and they sent me an email and a text that they locked my unit correctly with a temporary lock. It was great to know they do walk by inspections. Lions gate called us back and we decided to move there in November so sadly we will be leaving Public Storage. If it was just my stuff I would definitely stay there. I had 3 different units here at public storage. Started with a 10x20 then down sized a few times. My point is, I was obviously a good tenant because they kept renting to me. I followed the rules and even helped the Manager time to time to clean up the grounds. I did this to stay on the manager Liz ,good side because she is very bipolar. One day your her friend and the next she will treat you like her worst enemy. She plays favorites with a few men that rent here. They are allowed to have refrigerators in there units, have people sleep inside, work on there cars but if a women looks at her wrong she'll kick you out. She nit picks you to death and don't dare stick up for yourself because she considers that back talk. I'm suggesting you go some where else unless you want to waste money and time. And beware they won't tell you this but your rent amount is not locked in. They raise it every 6 months.z read more

Not very happy with this company or location, looking to vacate as soon as I have the opportunity. Have only been with them 6 months and they already raised my monthly rate. They pull you in with enticing offers and then switch your rate 6 months later claiming, "we had to raise the rent because we don't have any additional size storage units in your category available for new customers." As a customer this tells me they would rather lose a good paying customer by raising the rates to try and bring in new customers. Very sad! read more

The last time I rented a storage unit was more than 20 years ago. I wasn't sure what to except now with prices and service. Well to my surprise it went great! Elizabeth is awesome! I live in the Crescenta Valley and have had a storage space at this facility since 2003. When I called the day before a planned move out Keith, the manager on duty, was kind enough to walk by my unit when he was on his rounds to check the type of lock since I don't have access. After getting written permission faxed from another Public Storage facility, Keith arranged to have the lock replaced with a keyed lock by the next morning for a mere $21.50 charge. Amazingly accommodating, friendly yet professional. Highly recommended!! read more

We've kept 2 storage units at Public Storage since moving 7 years ago. The townhouse we rented had a garage which served as our storage overflow, but when our unit was sold, we weren't certain where we wanted to relocate, so we put everything from the garage and the townhouse into storage. Now that we've decided where we're ultimately going to settle, we rented a third storage unit dedicated to the few things we're going to keep, and will be working to liquidate the remaining stuff from our two original units, then move out from the third unit. This PS location is excellent. The premises are kept clean, and are well lit. Security is the most important thing when choosing a storage facility, and we've always felt confident about this location. It's great that each customer has an individual gate code to use, which is needed not only to enter, but to exit. Elizabeth, the manager at the Arcturus Avenue location, is wonderful! She is friendly, personable and professional, and really cares about delivering excellent customer service. We checked out several other storage facilities before choosing to rent here, and our decision was largely influenced by Elizabeth's positive and understanding attitude and attention to detail. She is always responsive to our needs, goes the extra mile to be sure our needs are met or questions answered, and is a pleasure to deal with, whether on phone or in person. Regrettably, I can't give as glowing a recommendation to Adrianna, one of the office staff at this location. On the two or three occasions I've dealt with her on the phone, she seems not to care about customers' needs, nor her job. She is pleasant enough in person, but not particularly personable, and seems to be just marking time. I simply wait to call back to speak with Elizabeth, so it's a non-issue - but it's a shame Adrianna hasn't found a different job she might enjoy more. I agree with John R.'s review about the pricing issue. In recent years our rent has gone up and up. There definitely should be some discount for long term customers and customers with multiple units. We do appreciate the flexibility Public Storage provides in paying rent up to the 5th of a month without a late fee, and the company's website and online bill paying makes it a breeze. If you need to store your stuff, this is a great place to do it with confidence. Personally, however, I would urge everyone to get rid of their stuff!! We're all pack rats, and once something is out of sight, it's out of mind. I've probably paid six times over what my stuff is worth, and now having to deal with it again?? I wish I had had more time to sell it all off years ago, kept a special savings account into which I could have deposited the monthly storage fees, and bought everything new when we move!! The late George Carlin's routine about "STUFF" is so true!! At this point in life, I'm ready to embrace minimalism!! LOL The only thing that would make Public Storage the ultimate in the business would be if they allowed customers to conduct limited, on site auctions from their storage space. It's totally understandable, though, why they don't. read more

Wow I guess i was all fired up when I wrote this post....so long! (this is me, later, editing.) Bottom line if you don't want to read all: Public storage has storage units that are unsafe, unclean, and un-secured. They will harass you (young Lizzy the manager) if you plan to spend time there organizing or accessing your stuff. And don't even think of leaving a day or two past your payment due date without being charged for the whole month! From research online and my interpretation of their contract- you are not required to purchase insurance but they will tell you that you must have it unless you have homeowner's insurance already. I moved into the facility to find it filthy, dirt -piled (not -cleaned -after -the -Thomas fires and wind). . In order to move my stuff in I had to clean the storage or else my things would all be covered with dirt just like the storage. The "manager," Elizabeth suggested I put cinder blocks by the corners of the door and lended me a broom. When I came to clean I noticed several holes on the walls and the back wall of the storage caving in which allowed viewing of the next storage although I didn't view it I did slightly push it to see if it could be pushed all the way in..and concluded that hopefully my back-wall neighbor wasn't a burglar because he would have easy access. Having nothing really valuable I just let the staff know and they were like, "oh, well." As far as the holes, "manager" said she would buy duct tape the next day. The light was broken and rusted and I got an electric shock when I was trying to wiggle it to turn it on. There was no offer or brilliant advice to fix that at all. As a matter of fact, the underling staff and the area manager, Dana Hill said there was no way that could be fixed. Underling said there was one repair man they had access to at the facility and he lived somewhere in the valley. I spent a great deal of time writing a formal letter to Public Storage with the intent of mailing it to the district manager which is above Elizabeth I came to find out from reluctant 800 customer service. There is no possible way to find the phone number for the district manager or his last name. If you can do that I will pay you a Priceless gift of gratitude. Anyway my complaints about the unsecured, unsafe, and unclean facility oh yes I failed to mention there are nails and screws sticking out with the sharp side on the walls of the storage which I happened to find out the hard way. Okay so I stayed late cleaning the facility had to use dusk mask because there was so much dirt and debris cloud in the air, had to bring back mop and clean all the walls the doors and try to clean out the dirt piled Runners along the floor without a vacuum or electricity. This was all before I could move the rest of my stuff in so it wouldn't get filthy like the facility. So I stayed very late cleaning and was gently reprimanded the next day. About a week later, I was about 15 minutes late leaving and there early the next morning. In the pouring rain, Elizabeth arrived yelling and questioning me reprimanding repeating herself several times asking what was I doing why was I here since 6 why am I homeless (I wasn't) and that concerns her she's never seen anybody come to the storage for so long..yada yada revoke your storage access.... Etc continue with the emotional outburst until I was no longer upset, just amazed at her inappropriate behavior. I figured she'd realize and apologize later and went in to give her a chance. Alas...no kind words or cupcakes ever delivered. She did, however, offer a special touch for any remaining encounters I was to have with her; gifts of coldness and illusory self -importance. (Guess she didn't get the memo: Maybe go ahead and try to be a teencie bit professional today...if you can....and don't forget, you are my favorite little scapegoat.xo. Thanx, Dana Obscurantist Hill) Oh yeah, I almost forgot...A few days before I moved out, my new storage neighbor informed me that she, too was harassed by Elizabeth for accessing her unit AND she, too had a badly caved wall allowing easy access from next unit (not my side). We both indulged in the ad that offered a chance to pay a dollar first month no credit card deal. Maybe that's what was handed out to our kind. It seemed that some of the units were newer, judging by the rubber lining the bottom of the doors so make sure they don't take you to the crypt that I occupied. Be prepared, might end up with some little scrapes and a shock; some, or all of your stuff stolen or ramsacked. On the bright side, it only costs a dollar! I have pics of all my claims and it sucks to be poor and having to choose a place based solely on the fact that it appears to be the cheapest. At least it's never boring:) read more

We have rented a storage place here for numerous years. Elizabeth has always been helpful and professional. However, Public Storage is not so customer friendly. Today I called to confirm that our monthly charge would be pro-rated up until the 10th if we moved out. I was told that the company had recently changed this policy and they do not pro-rate any more. You pay for the whole month even if you move out on the 2nd day of the month. I was told that the company did not feel it was necessary to let their customers know about this policy change. There were many other things that we have been unhappy with in the past. read more
