I rented a unit here for the last 3 yrs and in those 3 yrs the price increased from $187 to almost $400, but that isn't the issue. They say the units are properly climate controlled; that's a bold faced LIE!!! I was moving out of my unit (unit W201) and I discovered mold on almost ALL of my furniture. Climate controlled my ass. I got the insurance that they offer, and the insurance will only cover a max of $250 for the type of damage (mold/fungus). A complete and utter SCAM!!! We lost our home due to molds and termites. We rented storage at this branch of Public Storage. A month after we found a new place to live. Little by little we are trying to move our stuff. To make the story short, every time we go, there is no available cart to transport our stuff. I had to carry it one by one as a result, my blood pressure went up which never happened before 180/110. Hypertension Crisis due to lifting heavy objects. I asked for assistance and the guy in the office said they were all being used when it was just me there and no other cars but mine and the attendants car. He was on his phone the whole time. I rented a space for approximately one year. When moving out, I selected the sixth of the month as a move out date through the app, but got no proration of my final month's rent. They will happily prorate your initial rent, but insist that they don't when moving out. So now I have no space and no money. Pretty scummy public storage. read more

Very over priced ! They say you get a good deal but then your rent starts going up ridiculously they complain for every single thing . There is no trash cans so where do you dump your trash ? They will pick on you just to get you kicked out and fed up so they can make more money by getting new people to rent at public storage thank god I am getting out of there and getting something cheaper for a 5x5 is 180 a month not paying for that ! The staff is also very rude & unhelpful. Very poor service. Only has 3 carts that are very small. You can't even put a normal sized droor on it without falling. On top of that they lock the carts and can't use them after the employees leave. Today (11/11/2019) I went to the storage to pick up things I needed from my storage but when I arrive the only 2 elevators they have are not operating. I'm very disappointed with the business since day 1. Unfortunately we will be needing their storage unit for a couple months. I do not recommend this place to friends or family. read more

I waited outside of a over an hour no one ever came to open the front door. I left for 15 minutes came back and no one was still in the office. Waited another hour tried calling the number that's on the door several times no one ever answered the phone. I tried getting into my storage and needed help with my code that wasn't working. I had to call customer service and explain to them that the sign says open but that no one there and I couldn't get into my storage so after 45 minutes on the phone with them they finally helped me with my new code . Had I know I was gonna have the problems I had I would've NEVER RENTED A STORAGE from there this will be my first time and last time. If ur open from 9:30-6pm then u should have someone in the office the whole time very unprofessional to not have anyone in the office at all. Also it says on the website $1 first month that is bs I had to pay $236 that's a whole $235 dollars over the $1 it says for a month . Don't advertise something that's not true . read more

I have used the Pubic Storage over on McGrath Street in Ventura on a few occasions when I had a few weeks or months between moves and always really liked them. They were very nice, had great gate hours, and the place always felt safe and well organized. Boy, do I regret trying a new location this time! This Public Storage location is not up to the usual standards. 1. The front office staff are polite, but they aren't able to answer even simple questions or complete basic paperwork. They have this masked hostility going on--I think customers become impatient because the staff isn't capable of doing some of their job, and the customers are then rude or combative eventually and the staff are braced for this and are a bit prickly as a result. I feel for them and wish their office could be friendly and efficient for everyone's sake. I try to be patient and nice but there is a piece of me that wishes they could get their act together. I miss the ladies who run the McGrath Street Public Storage! 2. They lock up the dollies/carts and you can only check them out during their very limited office hours (seriously, they close at 6 on the weekends. Imagine having to carry a heavy item through their maze without a dolly or cart...it's pretty silly planning on their part). Other storage places have the carts and dollies within the building or elevator so that you can use them when the gate is open and you've used your code to enter. I don't know why this location won't do this--I have run into angry customers every time I'm there because of this. Very simple problem to solve, but indicative of the overall management problem here. 3. They are a nightmare to deal with about paper work. If you sign up for autopay (automatic deduction of rent on the first of the month from your credit card or checking account) they will turn it off without notifying you then charge you a late fee (which is almost half of the rent) for "not paying." If you call to ask why autopay didn't go through they tell you it takes a few days and not to worry...pretty sketchy to then charge a hefty fee, yes? If it had just happened once I would have thought it was an honest mistake, but the fact that it keeps happening makes me suspicious. Bottom line: Public Storage is a no frills place but usually very easy to use. This location has some issues--use one of the other Oxnard or Ventura locations. read more

The boyfriend and I are moving so we need to secure a storage unit in Oxnard to help make our move less heinous (you know how much fun moving is...). We have a storage unit at the Public Storage in Culver City which I really like because it is super duper clean and which I hate because it is super duper expensive. So we popped into this location yesterday to take a look. Our intention was to check out the place and then get a super sweet deal on-line and come back to set things up. The storage unit we saw was clean, spacious and almost half the price of the one in Culver City (what a difference 60 miles makes huh?) The best part? Jay. This storage place is a racket! I moved out around 5:00 when we finished and went to check out the office was closed! (Sat the Feb. 29) so since I had to come back in the morning I saved a last load for in the morning! Did that and went in the 85 degree office to sweat my ass off while waiting 10 min for the clerk who was alone, to finish with a rental! Two couples after me not happy about their much longer wait ahead either! The first word out of her mouth was, you know you should have checked out yesterday! I said i tried but the office was locked by 5! Long bit later and she had to make a phone call to confirm it but since i went up today to the unit I will have to pay the whole next month! The person on the phone said to do something called a dispute so I wouldn't need to pay then another phone call told her yes I would need to pay since I went in today! Wow, then here is the best part! She looked to the other two couples waiting and said to them "Let this be a lesson to you guys!" Check out day is the end of the month no matter your move in date! Wow was I embarrassed! I do not recommend PS at all! You need to buy silly Ins. and also the move in speal tells you they recommend moisture control tubbs so you don't get mildew! (luckily you can buy them for 8.00 right then and there!) The top floor apparently has a problem with condensation!!!! Really !!! I was on the top floor! No Mildew there!! thus the racket part i mentioned!! Any respectable place would pro rate us that one day but this shady place said I owe a whole month!!!! Racket!! read more

My experience at Public Storage was great Jay was very informative and helpful. He asked me a few questions about what I was planning to store here, that way I chose the right sized unit. Jay then walked me over to my unit and verified that this unit would be perfect for me. Jay had a very positive attitude and explained that they also have various tools on sale to help my move easier. I did. It feel pressured to have to buy additional items however it was nice to be informed. Jay was thorough with how the monthly payments and insurance coverage worked. The endless search of the perfect storage unit for my grandmother finally came to an end at the Public Storage at 161 Ventura in Oxnard. I was greeted by a friendly knowledgeable staff person who was open about all fees and helped me decide the correct size unit needed. She then showed me the unit, which is heat and air regulated, answering questions as we went along. Once finished, she gave me the option to look for an online discount on that unit before signing. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the elevator buttons occasionally don't like to hold the doors open and once there was a hazardous spill in the hall and elevator that had been there for a while and had not yet been attended to (attendant had knowledge as did the one prior). Jennifer in the front office was the sweetest ever ever ever . I had to change spaces and She made switching units as easy as pie . I am very grateful for her attention. In 2013 I downsized and put much of my stuff in at Public Storage. Being very busy I never got a chance to go back and get it. Over the years, I've spent about $8,000 storing my things here. The trouble began when I had fraud on one of my credit cards. Their system kept trying to pull money out of an account that was closed. Every time they tried billing this closed account and it was rejected they charged me a bounced check charge. I tried disputing this with them and asked for the charge to be reversed, then they started billing me late charges. I asked for these to be reversed while arguing this, they put a lien on my things. I asked for this to be reversed. In the end, they insisted on all the charges. They are real hard asses here and have no problem losing thousands of dollars in business as long as they can charge their garbage fees. I am shutting down and moving my stuff to Extra Space Storage. They have a new a modern and clean facility that I prefer. read more

GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION - THE LADY HERE IS TERRIBLE/DON'T GET STUCK/TRICKED LIKE ME - TOO MANY OPTIONS FOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE .. Initially, I received friendly service with the male front desk clerk. but WOW later while moving my stuff in the LADY who was running the front desk was a NIGHTMARE.. You think I was interrupting her in her home or something and not at her place of business. I was the only other customer in the office and ask if she could tell me if there were any more carts avail to which she said only the one there. The 3 or so.. If none they didn't have more. Surprised they wouldn't have adequate customer carts I asked if there was a number I could call to make someone aware of their situation but she stated she was too busy and how she did do other stuff there. One would think a live customer would take priority or her other busy work and I would have guess they don't have a constant flow of customer interruptions with the type of business. So I left and soon I noticed a cart now avail. and I went back to the office and requested her to unlock the cart so we could use it.. She proceeded to say she was busy, and couldn't do it now. looking around I didn't notice any other customers she could be helping if not me. So I pressed that I could really use the cart if she could take a minute to help out. That I'd appreciate it.. But again she repeated she was busy and couldn't stop to help me.. Again she stated she did do other stuff there. Then proceed to say that I was rude. Perhaps I was annoyed and persistent but I'm sure I wasn't rude not even while she really was. I mean I was practically begging here to help me.. I mean aren't I the customer after all ? and I'm sorry but even if I had been rude rude, she still should never, never be rude.. I am the customer and its her getting paid to service the customer. That paper work or what ever else means nothing if I don't exist with out me.she continued to tell me how rude I was and even finding her believed facts, and guy there even said you were rude. she just kept beggaring me with that statement , while I was defending my self and it sounded like a argument. I eventually ended the argument by leaving.. I wish I could rip all my storage stuff out and leave, but the work involved would punish me more then her.. So now gone I feel its my duty to warn other. This location should not profit from poor CSR, and people need to know. the worst of all they show alot of good reviews , so maybe they are all FAKED reviews..
