After ten years of paying for storage at Morningstar, in Buda, we received an email saying "this is…read moreyour final notice to sign your contract with Morningstar Storage". To our knowledge we had never received any email saying we needed to sign a new contract. After my wife contacted Morningstar regarding this email we were emailed a contract dated 2017. After telling them that we'd be happy to sign a contract dated 2024 we were told that if we didn't sign the contract by Monday the 30th they would lock up our belongings. Let me just affirm that we were paid in full and have diligently paid our bill for the entire time we have used their facilities. Further, we are both self employed and both lost a day of income because we will not do business with anyone so disrespectful and we moved out today. Further yet, when I looked the Morningstar website today I found that they are advertising storage lockers the same size as ours for 50 dollars less a month than we were paying them. In overview, I suspect that there is some other issue in management there. Why else would they present us with a contract backdated to 2017. Obviously, I cannot recommend this facility

Luckily my unit wasn't damaged but I was shocked that nobody informed me of what happened. Showed up today to access my unit and noticed my lock had been cut off and replaced with a red lock that said see manager. Nobody is ever working at the office anymore so I called their listed number with no answer so I left a voicemail wondering what happened to my unit that is fully paid and why again I WAS NOT NOTIFIED about whatever is going on with my unit! It appears that it was broken into because there are many units near me that have the same red lock on them and evidence of cut pad locks on the ground. Spoke to a fellow renter in the complex and he said there have been people living in some of the units that have been trying to break into other units that he has had to run off before. There are cameras in the complex and supposed to have in-person security but he said it was so bad he installed his own cameras too. I've been trying to reach management for days and they will not answer or return my calls so I have no choice but to get a lawyer and press charges. STAY AWAY! UPDATE 4/21/20: Spoke to employee of management company that was hired by the owners last year and he told me that there were over 30 units broken into and they are going the video surveillance but the quality of the cameras the owners use is "subpar". Also found out that the on site security only comes by 4 times a night which consists of the security guard doing a quick drive through of the tiny facility (should take 1-2 mins) and then security leaves. Yet, their website says they have on-site security there "almost around the clock". A complete lie. Owners have known about the homeless staying in empty/broken units for years and have been warned about the subpar quality of their cameras for a long time but refuse to put any money into needed repairs or security issues. There has been a known rodent problem since September that management has failed to properly address or communicate to tenants. Several of my belongings were damaged, and others exposed to mice excrement as pictured. The only response from management has been to place glue traps, which do nothing to resolve the larger issue. When I requested to move units because of the infestation, I was initially offered a new one at a higher rate, which I found shocking and poor customer service, and then moved to another unit on the same floor--only to find that one quickly infested as well. Despite acknowledging the rodent issue, management offered no meaningful assistance or compensation beyond insurance that didn't cover the extent of the damage. This experience was extremely disappointing. Avoid storing your items here, and if you are currently stored on the 3rd floor, I would strongly suggest checking your items for signs of rodents.

It started with speaking with Steve (One of the owners) about four months ago, as I informed him that I was moving 300 miles to town suddenly and desperately needed a place to store all of my stuff. Steve promised to have a specific size reserved for me, and if they didn't have a unit available when I moved down, that he would let me use his personal garage. That wasn't necessary though, as Steve made sure there was a space available (With about six hours notice from me, once I finally discovered when I was moving), and handled all paperwork over the phone as I was in the middle of a five-hour drive, leaving a lock in the unit because he knew I'd be getting there late in the evening and didn't have a fitting lock. My storage unit was spotless, the entire storage complex was/is spotless, and he was completely understanding and provided incredible customer service when I needed emergency access to my unit at 5am the next week. I've spoken to Steve a couple of times since. He was kind enough to remind me of my due date after I missed payment two months later, and didn't charge me a late fee because they're good people. I just finished a phone call with Steve's son, Mike, who provided equally great customer service and was incredibly accommodating to my requests.
