It started with speaking with Steve (One of the owners) about four months ago, as I informed him that I was moving 300 miles to town suddenly and desperately needed a place to store all of my stuff. Steve promised to have a specific size reserved for me, and if they didn't have a unit available when I moved down, that he would let me use his personal garage. That wasn't necessary though, as Steve made sure there was a space available (With about six hours notice from me, once I finally discovered when I was moving), and handled all paperwork over the phone as I was in the middle of a five-hour drive, leaving a lock in the unit because he knew I'd be getting there late in the evening and didn't have a fitting lock. My storage unit was spotless, the entire storage complex was/is spotless, and he was completely understanding and provided incredible customer service when I needed emergency access to my unit at 5am the next week. I've spoken to Steve a couple of times since. He was kind enough to remind me of my due date after I missed payment two months later, and didn't charge me a late fee because they're good people. I just finished a phone call with Steve's son, Mike, who provided equally great customer service and was incredibly accommodating to my requests. I'm removing my things from their unit, only because I've found a place to live in Austin. I would gladly drive back to Buda to continue using their services, because of the amazing customer service I've received. There's no need to storage unit shop. Call them today. Calling and talking to any other company is a waste of time.

Public Storage was an actual life saver for my boyfriend and me this past weekend. After being…read moretotally screwed on our storage reservation through UHaul -I quickly contacted Public Storage to see if they could help us find a temporary home to the contents of our 17ft Uhaul! I spoke with Terry on the phone, who was not only extremely sympathetic but gave me all the information quickly and efficiently to get me a storage unit a few miles away from our current apartment. I was immediately contacted by Miranda at the location we are storing at to confirm my reservation I had made only minutes prior with Terry. With only 30 minutes till close on a Saturday afternoon, Miranda showed us the storage unit and completed all of our paperwork in about the same amount of time we spent standing in line at UHaul. As it turns out, the cost for a unit twice the size with a drive up door was less than the pathetic, incorrectly reserved unit we were supposed to get through UHaul. Even with the insurance they require you to purchase, I would pick this place to save yourself some stress. The only real issue we have had was getting our heavier items in storage up the small incline our storage unit sits on. My boyfriend is an auto mechanic and picking up an elephant might be easier than moving this thing! Needless to say, it was a challenge getting it into the unit with only two people. Perhaps, request a unit with more even access should you choose to store here! At the end of a horrible day, Public Storage was a life saver... we even joked that perhaps we went through the nightmare of a day with Uhaul to end up with exceptional service at Public Storage, instead!

When I asked why, I was told it was due to "market rates and demand," but the price increase did not feel justified at all. I contacted customer service and spent a significant amount of time trying to get help, but nothing was done to resolve the issue or keep me as a customer. The whole experience felt incredibly predatory and, frankly, like a scam. I'm moving my belongings elsewhere and would strongly recommend looking at other storage companies before renting here.

My unit is in a HORRIBLE side of town with a LITERAL crack house next door but the rate increases happen every 5 to six months. I went from paying $55 (insurance included) and now pay $71 because they brought my rate down slightly with hardships, but next Nov it will be over $120 for a 6x10 in an awful area. We moved from Missouri and needed self-storage until we decided where we wanted to settle in…read moreAustin. This location is super-South, but it worked out great for us for the price and space. It ended up that we moved three times during the five years we lived in Austin -- and we maintained our storage the entire time because we had different amounts of space at each of our residences. At one time we lived in north-central Austin (around Anderson Lane and Burnet Rd.) and still felt comfortable having storage in south Austin because of the atmosphere at BS&P. Plus there are multiple ways to get there if traffic is heavy in one particular area (for instance, major construction on Manchaca Rd. heading south). BS&P seems to take particular pride in the maintenance and appearance of their grounds. It was never trashy, the lighting is very good after dusk, and the buildings seem to be well maintained. I liked that there appears to be regular pest management, and again, it was always clean. Upon clearing out our units, we did not find any issues at all with small animals, and insects were at a minimum considering it was not climate controlled and we didn't use any additional pest control in the units. I also felt confident about the way the drives are slanted and the doorways a bit elevated that we didn't have to worry about water getting into the units. Our storage was in the older section, so I don't have experience with what's available in the expanded storage area. The staff and management were often quite friendly and were prompt to provide service. There is often an employee patrolling the grounds until close. That made me feel at ease when going by myself to storage after dark. I would have preferred that there be access to the property later than the close time, but I don't know what the industry standard is, and I'm sure they avoid a lot of headaches by setting a restricted access time.

Luckily my unit wasn't damaged but I was shocked that nobody informed me of what happened. Showed up today to access my unit and noticed my lock had been cut off and replaced with a red lock that said see manager. Nobody is ever working at the office anymore so I called their listed number with no answer so I left a voicemail wondering what happened to my unit that is fully paid and why again I WAS NOT NOTIFIED about whatever is going on with my unit! It appears that it was broken into because there are many units near me that have the same red lock on them and evidence of cut pad locks on the ground. Spoke to a fellow renter in the complex and he said there have been people living in some of the units that have been trying to break into other units that he has had to run off before. There are cameras in the complex and supposed to have in-person security but he said it was so bad he installed his own cameras too. I've been trying to reach management for days and they will not answer or return my calls so I have no choice but to get a lawyer and press charges. STAY AWAY! UPDATE 4/21/20: Spoke to employee of management company that was hired by the owners last year and he told me that there were over 30 units broken into and they are going the video surveillance but the quality of the cameras the owners use is "subpar". Also found out that the on site security only comes by 4 times a night which consists of the security guard doing a quick drive through of the tiny facility (should take 1-2 mins) and then security leaves. Yet, their website says they have on-site security there "almost around the clock". A complete lie. Owners have known about the homeless staying in empty/broken units for years and have been warned about the subpar quality of their cameras for a long time but refuse to put any money into needed repairs or security issues.
