If I could give them NO STARS, I would. Cubesmart loves to take advantage of people and raise rates to an insane high amount. We had to move to Hutto Tx 2 years ago because of my husbands treatment at MD Anderson, and needed to store items. Our payment in the 2 years we have stored there has more than doubled and we are now paying close to $500 for a 15X15 inside unit. We are a retired couple on SS and struggle every month to pay this, and are unable to remove the items because we do not have room, are not physically able, and can't afford to hire movers. We were paying $120/mo for our storage unit prior to CubeSmart taking over and just received notice they are raising rates once again to $224/month now!!! I've had a storage space with them since 2010 and have always paid consistently for a decade. It seems my card on file expired and they cut my lock and were going forward with selling my stuff. Luckily I logged in and paid in time but they didn't save my card I used and instead still tried to use my expired card! Not only that but I never received a call, an email or text that my card on file has expired. How can a company as large as cubesmart not have a simple feature to notify a user that their card on file is about to expire? That is so standard in web development. Another thing is that they have an email account for me that I no longer have access to and I can't even change my email address to a current one. That's essentially like not allowing someone to switch their address. Its absurd that some simple features are missing. Its almost like they want storage space to go to auction. I got a call from someone that informed me my card was expired (finally) and that they had cut my lock and need me to buy a new one. We have a key on file with them so why would they cut my lock? Why would they cut someone's lock who has consistently paid for a decade? Again, its like you want to be able to auction off storage spaces. I asked the person on the phone why they never called me when my card was expired and he literally said their phone system was down. I thought he was kidding to be a smarty but he was dead serious. I have 2 calls on record from a number with a 267 code and then 3 calls from a number with a 512 area code. So 5 calls total, zero text notifications, zero email notifications because I can't change my email on my account, and zero mail notifications? They really want to auction off storage spaces. It's ridiculous that the system in place makes little attempt to contact someone with a card issue. After very few contact attempts they cut someone's lock that has been with them for a decade (even though I have a key on file), users can't change their email address on file, they have a phone system that "was down" and couldn't contact me in a window of time that was crucial. We had a storage unit here for 6 years and recently everything has gone terribly wrong. Cube Smart tired to auction off our unit because our credit card expired...the problem is we never received a phone call, email or letter saying the card expired! We did receive any notice at all until the one stating our unit's contents were being auctioned... We moved to a new storage facility on Monday... Do not trust your property to Cube Smart... I was robbed. My storage unit was broken into and the policy states that because there was no forced entry that there was no way to prove unlawful entry. So unless the unit itself gets damaged and the robber decides to be dumb enough to leave the cut off lock, you will get NOTHING. If I was a thief this would be the best place to do my shopping! Learn how to pick a lock and get into anyone's storage unit. The advertised "safety and security" is a lie! The cameras in the unit didn't work, there were other units that had gotten broken into and the owner was without remorse. Don't rent a unit unless you don't care if you have your stuff taken care of. Lost memories and valuable items that I will never get back. Thanks CubeSmart for NOTHING. I research just about everything. I look for the best pricing, good reviews, etc. Upon needing a storage unit, I determined that CubeSmart on Stassney was my 1st choice. Pricing fluctuates from one storage facility to another -- even when they're under the same parent company. I didn't have to get a unit super close to home so I don't mind a few extra minutes drive to save some money. I booked online to get their standard discount for the first 'x' months (turned out to be six months) *and* the first month free. After the six months is up, I expect it'll go to the regular retail rate; it's an industry standard practice. Prior to getting my unit I had to stop into the facility to finish out the paperwork. I'd already received an email from them (Karen Mills, Manager) with their contact information, the process, etc. I emailed her back with a copy of our homeowners insurance policy so that she could confirm renter's insurance (so that I didn't have to purchase it thru CubeSmart). Upon arrival, she had all of the paperwork filled out and ready to go so that our time spent filling out paperwork was absolutely minimal. She's been in the business for a long time and knows all of the in's and out's; very professional. As with most (but not all) facilities, you can bring your own lock. They have them for sale with a little extra markup if you don't want to mess with Amazon or a local retail store. Use a disc lock; just do it. They also have a standard application fee (currently $24) that you have to pay when doing the paperwork. That's in the normal range for storage facilities. I rented a 10x15 unit. I'm on the 2nd floor so I had to use the (large) elevator accordingly. They have six (6) pull carts available onsite. Note, they're much easier to pull than push as one set of the wheels is locked in position. While one corner near the west side elevator was a little tight for some of my larger items, nothing is perfect and these facilities are built to maximize storage space ... space is money. All good. My unit was in perfect shape and very clean. I appreciate the motion sensor lights (to limit electricity waste) and the piped in music doesn't hurt when you're already having to deal with moving things around (which none of us like doing). They also have a dozen +/- cameras on site to record movement etc. You have to put in your keypad code to enter and leave the facility. You also have to enter the code every time you need to open the door to gain entry into the building. While that's a small inconvenience, it's a good safety feature to help keep others from wandering in. I have no problem with a higher level of security when it comes to my possessions! What could be better? Parking for vehicles, trucks with trailers, moving trucks, etc. are not plentiful at this location. It's simply due to the plot of land they have with which to work and maximizing the footprint of the storage units. It works, but it's just not ideal. Then again, I'm not visiting often to load/unload, etc. So it's just a small inconvenience (sometimes) for a short period of time. And finally, some facilities are known for hitting you with late fees when you don't pay on time. I'm not saying that's inappropriate. What I want to point out is that CubeSmart has auto-billing to your credit card (no extra fees). So now I don't have to worry about missing a payment, etc. Once logged in, their web site is straight forward and very easy to use. Forget your keypad code, etc. ... just log into your account and it's right there (as it should be). I have no problem recommending this storage facility -- my dealings with them have been as smooth as they could possibly be. It's a professionally run facility! read more

I would NOT recommend CUBE-SMART self storage based on my unfortunate experience with one of their locations this year, 2021. I am currently contacting them through my attorney to request settlement for the damages which occurred when thieves both vandalized and burglarized my second floor unit in a climate controlled and supposedly very secure location here in Austin Texas. Did they have to break in in anyway shape or form? No! They simply made it through all of these so-called secured entrances and then crawled over my storage unit over the top where there was plenty opening big enough for any grown adult to crawl over into my unit and do their dirty criminal work. This is all on record and on video with the Austin Police Department and thankfully the perpetrators were caught and arrested but that doesn't change all of the damages I suffered thinking I could trust CUBE-SMART to at least keep my belongings basically safe and not make it just completely easy for the bad guys to get in! read more

Since I've been with CubeSmart the rent has gone up twice ,once a year since 2014. They charged for insurance monthly until I finally got them to take off the monthly charge because of my renters insurance . CubeSmart doesn't have a bin for their customers to dispose of boxes which is an inconvenience . read more

The facilities are outstanding - office and surroundings, outside area, are well kept, spotless and safe. In 2004 when I first moved to Austin, the facility (under another company name) was brand new, and I stored a whole household there. I've been with Cubesmart since 2009. I live out of the country due to work, so all of my things must remain in storage. About 3 years ago I got rid of many items from my 10x10 unit because the price continued to rise. I started my contract in 2009 paying about $80 a month. Eventually, the price had risen to $185 or so per month which prompted me to return to the States, sell many of my things, and move the remainder of my items into the smallest unit that Cubesmart rents. I started this new contract in the smaller unit at about 75 per month...now again, I am back up to 92.00 per month for a unit the size of a small closet. And guess what?! Just last week I received noticed that the terms of the contract were changing and the price would be raised AGAIN at the start of the new year. I don't have many options as to what I can do with my stuff in storage, but it would be NICE if Cubesmart rewarded their LOYAL customers or at least negotiate the price down a bit. SOMETHING. A month or two free here there? A discount? I've been with Cubesmart for almost 11 years. When I return for Christmas, I may have to find a new storage facility. VERY disappointed. However, I must say that the staff at my location has always been very friendly and helpful. read more

We have 2 units at this Stassney location. We are very happy with this place. It's clean and the manager Mike is absolutely wonderful! Mike, the manager, is very friendly, kind and helpful. The facility and grounds are clean and the temperature monitoring in the unit is good...cool in the Texas summer heat. Out of the many units I've had in various places throughout Austin, this place is the best. If Mike leaves, I'm going wherever he goes! read more
