After being with a facility for four months, my rate jumped from 123 to 166 while the unit is still being offered for a lower price online.

After four months, I was given a notice in the mail, saying my rate would be increased over 25%. I go online, and they are offering the same unit for the normal price I am currently paying. It seems like they are practicing a bait and switch where they'll get you in and then Jack your rates up while still offering the same unit for the lower price online. It's disgusting. I jumped from 123 to 166 in four months (photos added showing this). Storage facilities are not governed by any laws preventing them from increasing rates, so the consumer is not protected. Keep in mind the same sized unit is still being offered for that lower price if you were to book it online right now (see photo). I will be giving my notice and moving my stuff to another companies facilities because of this poor business practice that they engage in. Look this up on Google for Public Storage, this isn't something that is one off, you will find the same reviews. Let me save you the discomfort of moving your stuff in, having your rates go up, and have to go through moving everything out if you are like me and won't put up with affiliating with companies that engage in this kind of horrible business practice. Disgrace of a business and shame to the owners who initiate this knowing that they get someone in with moving all their stuff and due to the difficulty of moving again, they raise the rates and most people will pay because of that difficulty. The power is with the consumer, and we can go take our money elsewhere... and that is what I recommend you should do if you have landed on this companies Yelp page deciding who to go with and don't want to be taken advantage of.

There has been a known rodent problem since September that management has failed to properly address or communicate to tenants. Several of my belongings were damaged, and others exposed to mice excrement as pictured. The only response from management has been to place glue traps, which do nothing to resolve the larger issue. When I requested to move units because of the infestation, I was initially offered a new one at a higher rate, which I found shocking and poor customer service, and then moved to another unit on the same floor--only to find that one quickly infested as well. Despite acknowledging the rodent issue, management offered no meaningful assistance or compensation beyond insurance that didn't cover the extent of the damage. This experience was extremely disappointing. Avoid storing your items here, and if you are currently stored on the 3rd floor, I would strongly suggest checking your items for signs of rodents.

This storage facility appears to be fairly well-kept. It's very clean, has cameras everywhere, and…read moreaccess codes are required to get into the storage area, to access upper storage levels. Construction of the facility makes perfect sense. The main office is located on the first floor, next to three large garage doors. You can back vehicles into the garage bay to unload, out of any inclement weather. Each bay door can be individually opened via keypad access code. There are also two sliding doors--one inside the garage bay, and the other on the opposite side of the building. Both require an access code. Near each entrance is an elevator. Individual floors, other than the first, are restricted by access code. There are also a few carts available for customer use. There appear to be at least 4 storage floors. Customer access is from 6am to 9pm. The managing staff are onsite. The storage units and each floor appear to be quite pristine. Climate control is set to keep the storage facility between roughly 65F and 78F. For newer rented units, they are transitioning to cylinder lock and key; no more lock combinations to remember or pad locks. The facility requires you to insure the belongings that you wish to store. They will automatically enroll you in an insurance policy at $12 a month for $2000 coverage. However, if you have your own insurance (e.g. renters) that covers property in storage, you can provide them a declarations page, and they will accept that. Other than that, there are one time fees for a lock (if you don't have a cylinder lock of your own) and an administrative setup fee. Rent is prorated for the move-in month, and then turns into month-to-month. So that means if you have to move out, move out by the last day of the month, otherwise you'll be charged for another month if you still occupy the unit on the 1st of the next month. Finally, there appears to be at least 4 pricing tiers for identical units, based on location in the storage facility. So you may wish to check out multiple units and their locations within the facility that strikes a balance between desired size, location, and price. Overall: well-designed, secure, and well-maintained.

It was mid-July when we moved back to Austin from the wilds of NYC and needed a very last minute…read moreplace to store stuff...stuff that was to barrel into Austin the next morning at 9am. So, having just told you that we were coming from NYC, you know that we were starved for friendliness. Starved for a least a hint of someone in the service industry enjoying their job...Five years in NYC left me little hope of finding such an employee/business. Ah, but wait.... When Vladimir the truck driver called to tell me he'd be arriving early with our stuff, I went into full "T.C.B" mode--for those of you not familiar with Bachman Turner Overdrive's 1973 mega hit, I'm referring to a little thing called Takin' Care O' Business. In full T.C.B mode, you know I hit up Yelp and immediately found Burnet Road Self Storage. Sure there are some sketchy reviews, but I decided that my stuff didn't need to be impressed with its new digs, nor was I concerned with theft. I mean if someone wants to cut through a solid pad lock to steal my stained potholders and shitty IKEA furniture, fine. Yeah, so I called up Burnet Road Self Storage. Remember up there when I told you to wait?...From the moment an employee answered the phone, this southern hospitality-starved girl felt like a camel getting water for the first time in weeks...years! When I told him my desperation, Ryan, the first person I talked to, was so accommodating and patient. He kindly listed that day's few available units and even helped me think through which I'd need. Beyond this, he verbally promised to hold one of their last available units until I could drive over to reserve it with my credit card. (Sorry if this gets you in trouble, Ryan!) Thanks to Burnet Road Self Storage, I was able to quickly reserve a clean, safe, and reasonably priced unit super close to my apartment. For the month our stuff was there, my bf and I had 24/7 access and even ol' Vladimir was able to roll that semi-truck right in. I just got the last of our stuff out of the unit yesterday, making sure to take my pad-lock, one of the classy BRSS beer cozies, and the smiles of happy employees with me. As I turned to leave, I promised, "I'll write you guys a great Yelp review". To that they replied with an enthusiastic, "THANKS!" No, thank YOU Burnet Road Self-Storage!

I had stuff taken off the boat, leaning post, yeti 120 qt cooler (cabled and locked), trolling motor (locked) and seats. I understand Burnet storage is not responsible for theft but today I picked up my boat and found the hitch bent, jack broken off, and wiring harness cut to pieces like it was mowed. Unfortunately the small boat next to mine had the same fate. Even if the prices for a spot were reasonable the cost for theft and damages is not. I do know they did increase security and the thefts were prior to the new gate...
