Not the worst but needs improvement.. the facility is mostly nice but there are some big issues that need to be resolved. The concrete around the sliding doors is all busted up and it makes it very difficult to roll something heavy with casters. They put some wood down but its loose and a major tripping hazard. read more

I was renting a storage from you for almost 6 years. It started at $40 a month and went up to $177 in the 3rd year. I decided to downsize and got to a smaller/cheaper unit. Process was easy on the app, but I have an issue with how you charge your customers. Saturday 1/3/26 : I paid $69 for a new unit Sunday 1/4/26 : Moved my stuff from the old unit to the new unit and selected my move out date as Sunday 1/4/26. * Monday 1/5/26 : Public Storage charged me a $177 monthly fee * How can you charge me another month when I moved out of this unit the day prior? * I called customer service and they were horrible. I wanted to change my move out date to the end of the month since you already charged me for the month. Seems fair for a 5 year customer right? If I already paid for the month, I should be able to use ti right? Nope, you won't do it. This means even thought you took my $177 for the month, you can now rent that same unit to another customer and make money that way? If this is the way you treat customers I'll cancel and rent from someone else. What a horrible way to do business and treat your long time loyal customers. read more

Superb Manager Ms Dawn for nearly One Year has gone out of her way that I have invested my Money also Property at your 10931 Research Boulevard Austin Texas location. # 3213 is my Box . Very Secured yet in the 2024 summer also year I lost my keys Not Good. Ms. Dawn was able to Secure a Locksmith so I could get to my stuff in less than two weeks. No additional cost. After four months, I was given a notice in the mail, saying my rate would be increased over 25%. I go online, and they are offering the same unit for the normal price I am currently paying. It seems like they are practicing a bait and switch where they'll get you in and then Jack your rates up while still offering the same unit for the lower price online. It's disgusting. I jumped from 123 to 166 in four months (photos added showing this). Storage facilities are not governed by any laws preventing them from increasing rates, so the consumer is not protected. Keep in mind the same sized unit is still being offered for that lower price if you were to book it online right now (see photo). I will be giving my notice and moving my stuff to another companies facilities because of this poor business practice that they engage in. Look this up on Google for Public Storage, this isn't something that is one off, you will find the same reviews. Let me save you the discomfort of moving your stuff in, having your rates go up, and have to go through moving everything out if you are like me and won't put up with affiliating with companies that engage in this kind of horrible business practice. Disgrace of a business and shame to the owners who initiate this knowing that they get someone in with moving all their stuff and due to the difficulty of moving again, they raise the rates and most people will pay because of that difficulty. DON'T RENT IN THIS LOCATION! BELIVE EVERY NEGATIVE REVIEW YOU READ. First thing, I rented a unit that was supposed to be "a dollar" 1st month deal, it indeed was not a dollar. Came out to over $40 due to "fees" Second they never have anyone available on site for help so you're forced to use the app that's pretty unreliable also. The gate is always broken so you cant access it when you please. They lie about things to get you to rent for longer than expected and make it hard for you to cancel. This storage is convenient for my needs but now has outgrown what we need. On multiple occasions the unit has been found with rat feces and bait was set out. Today we went again, and Dawn just gave me a pamphlet on how to claim insurance and maybe the exterminator can come to deal with the rodent issue. Previously there was a fire and now rodent issues. We are going to terminate our storage lease and look elsewhere. We don't feel our stuff is looked after the best it can be and don't want to have to come frequently to check for rodent feces. read more

I usually never leave negative reviews, but the management at this location is quite poor. Due to covid, they have locked the bathrooms, so god forbid you need to use the restroom in the middle of your move-in or move-out, because they won't let you use the office bathrooms either, even though they are fully functional. I almost took a dump in the bushes, where all the homeless people are camping out before I had to rush to a nearby gas station. This is unacceptable and I will never use public storage again. I would not recommend this place to anyone..... I would honestly just prefer to go elsewhere. They have made the process so unbelievably difficult. Their website CLEARLY states first months rent for $1 but it's only at "participating" locations and isn't act true. At this particular location, they sent a link for the map of the property, which doesn't work. I spent over 30 min just looking for my unit. They do not have enough dollys and the elevator is a COMPLETE NIGHTMARE!!!!!! Entering your code each time and only one person can use the elevator at a time.... I went to go talk to the property manager at 11:30 on a Monday and the doors were completely locked and no one was working.... It's been a nightmare! Would definitely recommend elsewhere read more

Our unit was broken into recently at the Research location. Public Storage grounds are now uncared for, and it is challenging getting to supervisors by phone, or on the website. We moved out immediately yesterday upon discovering we were not the only ones that had a break-in there. Another couple were moving out after their unit's break-in cost them $14,000 in stolen items. The rotating supervisor filled out an Incident Report for us. After calling 7 different numbers, I finally got a supervisor who gleefully informed me they had no responsibility for thefts, per the PS contract. I did make a police report as it seems thieves are aware of the lax/non-existent management, or concern for customers there. read more

first month free is BS! They add admin. fee, lock fee etc etc to cover the "free" 1st. month. The elevator on the east side of building isn't functioning or they have it disabled so as to keep all traffic isolated to one entry point for the 2nd and 3rd floors. Restroom is pathetic is all I will say! if your notifications are set to on, you will get your fair share, especially if you are a last minute doer as I am. if your late you will be given a notice about time etc. it's all automated but just kinda annoying when your a few minutes behind schedule and having big brother shaking his finger linda pisses me off, but I understand. other than this, it's been ok. the facility in and outside is clean and haven't had any critter incidents so far , so I guess I'll bump it up from one to 3, but the elevator being shut down for whatever reason is BS IMO! read more

Good facilities, but they play games with you. Once they get you in for a teaser rate, they start increasing the rate as fast as they can, knowing how difficult it can be to move. 2-13-2021, PS #20199, Got an email yesterday that I had a break in to my unit. No phone call just an email. Which I did not see till today. Someone cut my lock off and stole some musical instruments And clothing racks and clothes. It is obvious they walked along the units with a mirror to case the units. The instruments were on an upper shelf. No cameras anywhere in the place to catch video of the thieves. Certain I am not the first. Staff won't tell me how many others have been broken into. Staff don't provide any notice written or email that theft is rampant but I bet it is. Only use a company that has a great camera system. And this facility has no cameras for theft deterrence. Amazing since they charge a lot! Agree with other reviewers that mice and rats are a problem also. Save yourself some problems and look elsewhere. Austin has a lot of newly constructed storage facilities and Public Storage is no longer a top tier company. Remember newly constructed and lots of surveillance cameras a must. read more

So far i have not had the best experince with Public Storage. They get you first by making you pay a start fee and lock fee when you getyour unit. For get the $1 first month, its fee after fee to make it not as afrodable as they makeyou think. Then they send you a email on the 12th stating you have a payment do on the first. , dont forget your payment as if you are one day late they willcharge you a $20 (or %27 fee wich ever is greater) and then want you to pay $20 to pay it over the phone! forget about the 1 or 2 day notice they say you have to give... no matter how much time you have left in the paid month, no prorate... so get out by the first or you will pay for the whole month again! I think that i will look for another storage option with a diffrent name brand, I had much better custemer service elsewhere. read more

These workers give so much false information. When moving in I was told I had until the 3rd of the month to close out my unit without getting charged. Since their business hours are during the same time as normal work hours it made it impossible to come and close my storage and ended up paying an extra month which I was fine with. After going in on the first of the following month to close my storage, I was told I had to pay an additional months rent. I told all 3 front desk workers, none of which were the ones I opened my storage with that the person i spoke with told me I had until the 3rd. All 3 workers argued their point after I explained several times that's not what I was told. So I've now paid for 2 months to rent an empty storage unit because no one at this place can get their info correct. Use caution when renting here. You will get screwed. read more

Even though the rating I gave to this place states "Meh, I've experienced better", it is not completely true as this is the first time I use services like this. Now, the biggest issue I have with this establishment (and probably with all Public Storage franchises) is that, nobody tells you is that one MUST buy insurance. Not only that but, the insurance they provide, costs more per month than the actual rental and they do not give you a grace period to look for alternatives. The moment you sign your lease, you need to have provided insurance; I'd be sort of OK with this shall they had told me in advance about this requirement in order for me to come prepared. The following is specific to this location as, it is advertised as climate controlled. I wonder if they went completely literal and they are controlling for Austin, TX's hot climate. Every time I have come here, I try to be as efficient as possible as to do the fewest runs from my car to my storage unit. In spite of that, I always need to freshen up at home after visiting this location. At the moment, I can't give them only one star because, despite all of this, I am staying for a few months however, the next bad practice they pull on me, I am vacating and updating the star rating to one. read more

This Public Storage location is great! The team was super helpful, SO nice and not at all pushy. They helped me pick out a unit without trying to upsell. I went twice and Sean was very patient with my questions. Erika and Dawn are also so nice and helpful. This is my first experience with storage, and I'm happy so far! The facility is very clean and new. It also has good security with codes for the gates (in and out) as well as the elevators. I have no complaints! The only thing to be aware of is some of the one time costs like a lock (if you don't have a cylinder one already) as well as an admin fee, which totals around $40-$50. You get to keep the lock however and you don't have to sign a lease--it's all month-to-month. Someone in a previous review mentioned having issues with insurance, but I printed out a copy of my renter's insurance policy after double checking that storage was covered. I gave a copy to the staff and that was all I had to do. read more

This entire experience at this location has been less than ideal. The girl checking me in the first day was more concerned about her bosses being on site than giving me all the information I needed about the rules and regulations of payment and the unit. So unprofessional! I get my first bill and forget my password so I go to refresh and never get the email the refresh my account. Then I get slammed with the 20 dollar late fee the next day. The guy I talk to on the phone says it will be another 10 dollars to pay my bill on a secure line. So I go into the location and the next guy I talk to in person speaks so quietly I can barely hear him. He meekly tells me I didn't have an account to begin with, which is not true because I had to create one to reserve my unit etc. I'm in a customer service job and the customer service at this site sucks. They're all unprofessional and don't give two craps about your experience. I'm getting my stuff out so I don't have to deal with this or pay any more money to these folks. Unreal. read more

My only reason for not giving 5 stars was because PS corporation started requiring a different kind of lock: cylinder vs. shackle. I have 3 high security shackle locks that I purchased for pervious storage units. Unfortunately couldn't use any of them them and had purchase a brand new cylinder lock.
