Wow! Special occasion night out this is a phenomenal option! We prefer it over St. Elmo's, unless taking someone visiting out, then St. Elmo's as an Indy "right of passage". Definitely will return to Provisions for special treats. We opted for the Chef 6 course special for $89 but not with the wine pairing as with wine it was $150. You could order two cocktails or glasses of wine of your choice cheaper than doing the wine pairing option. 5 of 6 courses were outstanding! Dessert was the left down, but 5 out of 6 being great is impressive. King crab toast had large amounts of crab and melted in your mouth. Brussel sprouts were tasty. Rack of lamb was cooked to perfection with toasted garlic slices on top! Wagyu beef was tasty just be sure to remove the roasted red bell pepper on top first. The red pepper looks nice but takes away and ruins the taste of the steak in our opinion. Dessert was okay. The chocolate was decent but didn't pair well with lemon ice cream and chips. Last time I was in Indy for our annual company meeting, my colleagues and I took Lyft everywhere to eat and drink. It was less than ideal. Fortunately, Ironworks opened up around Provision, and my heart was happy. It's the perfect pairing of boutique hotel and restaurant. I met a few coworkers here for dinner right after I flew in from SFO and got settled into my hotel room. They were at the bar inside, then we relocated to a high top out on the patio. Such beautiful weather. We had a few cocktails and glasses of wine, which were superb. Service was friendly and helpful. Our waitress recommended several starters that we split, like the shrimp and bread. Sounds super simple, but it was so flavorful. For my entrée, I got the scallops. Lots of dishes seemed like Asian fusion with unique flavors. For example, the scallops had gnocchi, spinach, Thai basil-chile beurre blanc, cauliflower, and golden raisins. Delicious and filling. It's a pricey hotel restaurant with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, but you get what you pay for in terms of customer service and quality of food. I'd have loved to come here again for drinks throughout the week, but there were so many other places to explore. Next time! read more

Wow. I went to Provision for the first time last night, and I am still thinking about the food today. Where do I even begin? Going to Provision was a decision made on the whim yesterday. After staying home for the last few months, we decided that eating at a restaurant was almost necessary for our mental health. Someone told me about Provision after it opened, and despite their raving reviews, I somehow still hadn't tried it myself. I think in part this was because of the location -- while the Ironworks area is great, I just am not often in the area. But I will be more often now. I called Provision around 8PM to see if we even had a chance to get a table, and the person who answered the phone was very kind, and said she would be able to get us in at around 9:15 PM. I was already feeling good about Provider based on this phone call. I cannot tell you the number of times I have called restaurants and the employee is short/unfriendly. To a certain degree, I understand, especially if the restaurant is busy; however, taking time to be kind on the phone can go a long way. The great service only began there. Our server was fantastic. He explained everything to us in a really helpful way. Also, he was not pushy. I have been to so many expensive restaurants where the server tries to push the most expensive things on you to "upsell" and get a bigger tip. This did not happen here. Further, our server came at just the right times. He refilled our drinks, brought out plates, silverware, and pre-bussed our table seamlessly. We didn't see him too much and we were never left needing anything, which further enhanced the dining experience. Okay, so what about the food? That is the part I am still saying wow about today. Even looking at the photos I am posting made my mouth water. The food is incredible and truly worth every penny. We started with the charred shrimp. I don't even know what to say except that it was perfect. For our main course, I went with the special which was essentially a surf n turf. It came with wagyu, a large bacon wrapped scallop over crab risotto, short rib, and potatoes cooked two different ways. It was honestly the best meal I have had in Indianapolis. My partner ordered the short rib and a side of loaded tater tottlers. When she cut through the short rib, I could see how tender it was. It was cooked perfectly, and when she took a bite of the tater tottlers, her eyes literally lit up. We were both incredibly happy with our food. For drinks, I ordered the "not so clear" and my partner ordered the "sweet surrender." We both liked our drinks so much we ordered another. As much as I wish I had tried dessert, neither one of us good eat anything else. Four cocktails, the charred shrimp, the surf n turf special, the short rib entrée, and a side of tater tottlers ran us $200, and I didn't feel like it was unreasonable at all. The restaurant itself has nice decor and a few separate spaces to eat depending on your mood (bar, patio, restaurant). Service is very prompt and friendly. I just see the name and start salivating. I think we can all agree it's one of the best in Indy. Bummer that it's on the north side, so we don't get there as much as we would if it was downtown, but still love it when we do. A friend and I walked in a little after 2pm because there was a long wait at the sushi restaurant we wanted to check out below this place. Someone greeted us and allowed us to order appetizers and salads even though they were finished with lunch at 2pm and were opening for dinner at 4pm. Our server was Sarah and she was so knowledgeable, friendly, and was attentive without being overbearing. I had heard of this place from some of my friends and have been meaning to check it out, so I was so excited to at least try out some of their appetizers. Wedge salad was indeed one of the best ones I have had around town, and wagyu dumplings were extremely flavorful and rich. Tuna Tartare had wonderful flavor, especially the sauce, however the texture of the rice was a bit too chewy/hard. I wonder if that was because we waited a bit to eat that since we wanted to eat our salads first. I am sure it is much better when it is consumed immediately after it's been served. We were so grateful that they allowed us to order salads even though they were only offering the appetizers during this time, because they were amazing! I travel to Indy professionally on a regular basis and stay at the Ironwood hotel which I heartily recommend (their jungle rain shower wakes up the dead - even those with a severe hangover.) The bar at Provision is well stocked and I always enjoy an after dinner drink there. The food is always of high quality. I recommend this place. read more

What a disappointment this meal was. I am an incredible loyal fan of Cunning Restaurant Group's establishments (see my reviews on Livery, Mesh, Union 50, etc.) and this has to be the worst experience I've had thus far, which was particularly frustrating as my girlfriend and I celebrated five years of dating by splurging on a meal here in early December. It was an absolute waste of money, time, and calories, and I'm sad we wasted our special night with this meal. We got off to a rough start when the server sat the two of us at a round, half circle booth that was fit to seat 5-6 people. I understand the restaurant was probably just trying to make use of space during a period where Covid regulations restricted the amount of indoor diners, but frankly it was awkward being in that big of a table with just two people. We ordered the Crab Hash as an appetizer, and that was also a disappointment. The spinach underneath was cold and soggy, and the hash itself lacked significant flavor even with the jalapeño hollandaise sauce. Luckily the soup of the day I ordered saved the starters - that might've been the best thing I had all meal. For an entree, I decided to pony up to get the expensive daily special, considering it was a meal of celebration and of special occasion - a surf and turf special of stuffed lobster and a small cut of wagyu steak. The wagyu was incredible, unsurprising as that cut of meat simply does the talking as long as you don't overcook it (which they didn't; they served it perfectly medium-rare as I ordered). The lobster however, tasted frankly like a bad home-cooked "fancy" meal. The stuffing inside of the lobster was so breading heavy - not much crab nor sausage, which was how it was advertised as being "stuffed". Super, super disappointing for a $60 dish. Combine all this with the fact that the server, while nice, could barely be heard under his mask despite me asking him to speak up, and I left incredibly disappointed after paying a large bill on our anniversary. The only thing saving this review from a one star is that soup and the piece of wagyu, plus me cutting CRG some slack that maybe this was a one-time mis-hit, considering how phenomenal all their other establishments are. That said, I will definitely not dine at Provison again unless I'm incentivized otherwise, and I will advise friends/family to steer clear to save their wallets. A $217 meal for two people is certainly worth it to me for great food on a special occasion; however, great food is sadly not what we received on our five-year anniversary. read more

I went to another restaurant and had the Lobster Bisque and it could have been Campbell compared to this. I judge restaurants on their soup and this alone gets 5 stars. So delicious! We tried Provision on the first night of Devour - I was a little nervous based on past experiences dining in the first night of restaurant week. Sometimes there are still kinks to work out. I was nervous for naught! Everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere to the value was excellent! I went with a group of four. We started with the shrimp appetizer (not on the Devour menu) which consisted of five huge chargrilled shrimp with avocado and kimchi apples. I forgot what the amuse bouche was, but I remember thinking I could eat an entire plate of it. We also ordered a bottle of pinot noir from Willamette, Oregon. Provision has a very impressive wine list - it was hard to choose one! Everyone at my table went with salads for the first course. The salads were decently sized and very good. I was thrilled that all four of us ordered different entrees so I could see/taste everything! I went with the filet medallion, medium. It came with two pieces of meat much bigger than your typical medallion. Exceptional. I also tried the tortelloni (my favorite) and some Brussels sprouts from the salmon dish. My stepdad was pleased they cooked the salmon to order. My partner devoured his scallop and short rib before I could get to it. The star of the show for me was the dessert - chocolate tart, potato chip crust, butterscotch, and lemon ice cream. Don't know why, but it totally worked and I've been thinking about it ever since. I was invited to try provision for a devour girls date, and was pleasantly surprised and impressed with how awesome this location was. Located in the upper level of the iron works restraaunt you will find provision. We were quickly greeted and lead to our table. There is a generous wine list, beers and fun cocktails to choose from. I ended up getting the botanical bubbles which is essentially a French 75, it was very delicious! The devour menu was a great choice because you got a bit of everything. Lamb meatballs to start which had this tasty glaze on top, the main course was tasty tortellinis with goat cheese. Dessert was a chocolate tart that came on top of potatoes chips. Provision has been on my list to try for so long, I was ecstatic to find out that my man had booked my birthday dinner there! The interior feels upscale without feeling stuffy. We were seated in the main area right in front of the open window to the kitchen. I should mention that they do have an amazing patio that I wished we could have taken advantage of, but sadly it was too chilly. Next time for sure! The wine list is expansive, and since they also have a full bar, cocktails of your choice and specialty cocktails are available also. We started with the charred shrimp, which was excellent. The scallops were tasty, and the addition of the Thai basil really gave it something extra that I loved. The snapper was the star of this meal, it was absolutely amazing. It tasted so fresh like we were in a coastal location, and it was perfectly prepared. The brussel sprouts....my goodness. The melted brie and the macadamia nuts are such a perfect top off to these. I think it's safe to say this is one of my favorites in the area. It offers more variety than a steakhouse and the food almost always prepared in a unique fashion that is very flavorful. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet. Anyway tonight we had the devour Indy menu. I really loved the grilled peaches. My salmon was cooked perfectly and the sesame seeds gave it a unique flavor I really enjoyed. I opted for the apple dessert and I don't regret it for a second. The apple cake was to die for! I took my husband here for his birthday dinner and specified that on my reservation. I also asked that they "make it special" for him. We dine out a lot and I understand different establishments do different things. They presented him with a birthday card indicating they were giving him a free dessert and that was all well and good. Our server was initially very nice, and both my husband and I are fairly easy clients and we tip well. The problem was with no explanation our server basically disappeared. Our water glasses were empty as well as our drink glasses and we couldn't seem to get anyone's attention. We finally caught the eye of whom, I assume was a floor manager, and he came over and we told him our situation. He immediately sent over a bus person with a water pitcher to top off our water. We still didn't have our server there for another drink order. We had also put in an appetizer order and we're waiting on that. Once our server resurfaced and we put in our drink order she left and came back with our drinks. I ordered a glass of champagne and my glass was dead still and dark in color. It was not champagne or if it was it wasn't fresh. We very cordially explained that to our server and she took it away to be redone. This got stranger because the floor manager then whisked over to our table with a bottle and a glass on a tray, put down the glass and said "okay here now you know it's fresh" and opened the bottle in front of us. It wasn't done in a kind way it was done in a way that made us feel like we were simply being appeased. We were really hoping for a good experience here because we enjoy fine dining frequently and we had this one on our list for a while. As it turns out, we didn't even stay for the free dessert because the service was so bad. We tipped only 18% because it was the bare minimum. Unfortunate that we had this experience. The restaurant is part of the Cunningham Restaurant Group and menu options are made from locally sourced produce. The ambiance is modern and fresh with soft hints of Taylor swift and Harry Styles playing in the background. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. My group of 4 had a reservation for 6:30pm on Mother's Day Sunday. We came in to celebrate both Mother's Day and a college graduation. We arrived 20 minutes early and were promptly seated after being offered either an indoor or outdoor table. Throughout our dining experience we were checked up on frequently and guided through our culinary adventure. Two of our group went with the chefs tasting 6-course dinner and would not stop raving about the wild boar and halibut courses! I opted for the grilled shrimp as a started, the snapper as an entre, and the triple chocolate tart to finish. The started was absolutely delicious and the perfect size for a light snack before the main course. The snapper was larger than I expected which was a major plus because it was delicious and very well prepared and plated. The tart was a fun little desert to end the night with. Our waiter was kind enough to help us celebrate by acknowledging our celebration and writing it on the plate! It was a nice touch to see! New favorite date night spot in Indy! We had a fabulous experience for my birthday. From the moment we walked in the service was exceptional. First things first - drinks! They have an extensive drink list. My husband got a perfectly crafted old fashioned and I had a nice glass of cab. For appetizers we both got salads. I picked the Beet salad and my husband got the Caesar. The yellow beets with candied walnuts were delicious. The pickled pears were unique but went well with the other flavors. For our entrees we ordered the Scallops and Short rib. I would eat scallops everyday if I could. These were perfectly seared and the roasted cauliflower was a nice pairing. The short rib was also fantastic. The flavors melted in your mouth. For dessert we shared the Peanut butter bombe which is peanut butter mousse rolled in a chocolate cookie crumble. Finally made it in here and to celebrate a special anniversary I ordered the tasting menu... yep, the whole darn thing... plus a drink and some bread ... I'm broke now, but it was well worth it. So why not 5 stars? Minor things really... Apparently they wait with clearing dishes until everybody is finished with that particular course and then get rather aggressive when you're trying to hold on to your bread... I had to defend it with my life... once they decide you are done, they (a slew of waitstaff) gang up on you and descend on your table like a pack of vultures and grab everything that is not nailed down. I mean I'm glad they work as a team, but geesh... They also come in droves when the food is being served... then you're trying to figure out which one is your food while every waiter is trying to get rid of the dishes they are holding...I'm all for serving things at the same time, but come on now, this is major confusing when dining with a group of people. I do prefer if they take the dishes as folks are done... we had some guest done and sitting in front of their used empty plates for quite some time, while others still had a long way to go. The place gets loud... that takes away from the atmosphere... otherwise it would be a great date spot, but conversation can be difficult once the place gets busy. Plus some orders were wrong... but it was up for by letting us keep what we had and still giving us the missing items. It happens, so I wouldn't deduct a point for just that. The decor of course is fabulous, as are the silverware, glasses and plates... we are talking serious quality here. The food: Started out with the bread for a mere $5... so I really didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised. You get a nice little bread basket with a pretzel stick, some baguette type bread and what looks to be naan. Along with that there is a dip that pack a bit of umpf... and then there is the cultured butter that has some herbs in it... that is to die for... delicious... I would roll in it if I could... Then we moved on to the farm egg in a basket and grow. It is served on one plate. The toast is very buttery and the egg inside done to perfection... The white is solid, the yolk is nice and a thick liquid. The grow salad consisted of various greens and a delectable vinaigrette dressing that was both flavorful but not overpowering. This is typically served with their blue cheese crumbles, which I cannot eat due to allergies, and they substituted feta for me, which perfectly complimented the salad. Then came my main dish... OMG, visually, taste wise... just all together WOW... You get a ginormous wood platter with 3 types of meet and your sides on it, along with garnish and sauces. It left us speechless... here's my list: Spare ribs, filet and lamb chops: The meat so tender, so flavorful, so juicy, so done to perfection. You just cannot go wrong... Loaded tater tottler: interesting... over-sized tater tot with ketchup and some other sauce on it. Crunchy on the outside, potato-y on the inside... rates only a 'pretty good' in my book Potato bacon terrine: Now we are talking... thinly sliced potatoes wrapped in bacon... great combination... loved it. Country ham asparagus: heavenly... stalks of asparagus wrapped in country ham topped with a bit of Hollandaise (I think that's what it was)... delicious and not a stringy stalk among them... just tenderness all around. For dessert I enjoyed the sugar cream pie, which was delectable, and what I enjoyed most, was that it was served with a caramelized sugar crust, such as a Creme Brulee generally has. And that coffee ice cream perfectly complimented the sweetness of the pie. Personally I was not a huge fan of that candied orange, but my friends thought it was wonderful. Also managed to get a little taste of the shrimp appetizer and while it only has 3 shrimp in it, the shrimp are quite large and so nicely seasoned and grilled that it is worth it. Had a taste of the lemon coconut cream cake, that is a huge slice of heaven... interesting taste... I would not have paired coconut with lemon, but it works here. In short, the food is amazing... a bit over my budget, but worth it, especially if you are celebrating something. read more

A great fine dining experience. With a beautiful location and stunning decor - provision makes you feel like you're enjoying a glamorous dinner in a big city. The drinks are amazing and the bar is stunning. Our server was attentive and charming - he brought over a spectacular amuse-bouche to kick off our meal. We started with the tuna tar tar and the king crab toast. Both delicious and very fresh. The flavors described on the menu might be a little scary for some but my advice is throw caution out the window and be open minded, you wont be disappointed. I got the NY Strip. It was cooked just how I asked. Served with a small bit of whipped potatoes -- not a full side, but that's what made it great. It was just enough. The dessert was probably one of the best I've ever had. It was a chocolate tart with a potato chip crust - served with more potato chips, butterscotch and ice cream. We decided to try Provision as we had heard many great things. We made reservations since it was a Saturday night, but there were plenty of open seats when we arrived. Upon arrival, we were seated immediately (even though we were a few minutes early). Once at the table, our drink order was taken within seconds. There is an extensive list of wine, beer and cocktails. To start we ordered the Charred Shrimp per the recommendation of our server. It was amazing and we devour the whole thing before I could even snap a photo! I decided to order the salmon as my entree and my husband had the crab cake. We split the tomato and mushroom side dish. My salmon was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth. The crab cake was a decent size and mostly crab. It was all so tasty and fresh! Service was fast and all staff were very attentive. Located in the new Iron Works boutique hotel, you will find Provision on the second floor. Upon entrance, you are greeted by their large see through wine case that is well stocked. *Seating- a long free standing high top table that is shared offers you the ability to watch all of the kitchen action, as it is open and available to view. Inside, there are low top free standing tables as well a bench/chair seating. On nicer days, the patio is the place to be to enjoy the day. Though, depending on 96th street traffic, it can be extremely noise, and on hotter days with no wind, the fans seem to not be able to reach you and cool you off. * Menu - like Mesh, the menu is seasonal. For people with allergies, it will most likely be an extremely limited selection. *Drink Menu - they had a nice selections of wines and refreshing cocktails *Food- The amuse-bouche was a nice touch to the start of the meal. I would recommend Vida and Mesh downtown, as their menus are a bit easier to accommodate allergies and there are more choices to choose from. Excellent restaurant serving New American cuisine. I've been here twice now and both times were excellent. Very impressed with the service, the food, and the ambiance. Feels like a lot of positive energy in the space. My first visit was with work colleagues. I had the bone in pork chop. It was cooked perfectly and had a delicious reduction sauce on the plate. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. My second visit was because of the Devour Indy restaurant week. I started with the Grow salad, then the 6 ounce filet, then the apple streusel cake for dessert. Yummmmm. They do have about a half dozen local craft beers on tap which is great! I highly recommend! read more

I'm so happy my in-laws are fellow foodies as their recent visit coincided with the opening weeks of Provision, the newest restaurant by the Cunningham Restaurant Group in the IronWorks Building (and basically the talk of the town). As someone who appreciates a solid chef-driven, farm-to-table menu, I was very excited to have something new so close to my shopping areas. I've become a bit tired of all the mall chain restaurants on the north side, so I was curious to see if this concept has staying power. The verdict? I think Provision going to be around for a few. Let's set the scene: you roll up to the Ironworks Building and receive (free) valet parking. The restaurant is on the second floor, so you take the stairs or elevator all while passing modern vintage art pieces on the tall walls and ceilings. Once arriving at the top, you state your reservation (reservations can be made online) and are seated. It's a little tricky to describe the atmosphere as it mixes several different stylistic elements, but it includes wood-paneled dome ceilings, modern gray palettes, elegant light fixtures, and one very cool bathroom. An open kitchen provides fun visibility and a "hustle and bustle" feeling as plates are being carried away and servers are strutting around with purpose. Speaking of service, our service was delightful with multiple managers stopping in to ensure our meal was delicious. While food arrival was not too slow, it was definitely leisurely, so we had plenty of time to relax and converse between courses. What did we eat? Pretty much everything. For appetizers, we shared a bread basket, seafood cocktail, and lobster dumplings. For my entree, I ordered a 7oz Angus filet with a side of "tater tottlers" (stuffed tots) while Husband tried a 16oz Ribeye with a side of seasonal gnocchi. We sample multiple desserts including my favorite chocolate peanut butter bombe with banana cream pie ice-cream and lemon coconut creme cake with fruit sorbet. All in all, it was a pretty solid showing. My only complaints? I think paying for a bread basket is lame and should be complimentary (especially after enjoying the delightful option at sister restaurant, Vida). Appetizers were pretty small to be shared amongst several people. The sides that came with my steak were also relatively modest and could be enhanced. And...it's pretty pricey. Is the quality probably worth it? Yes. But is it a place I can afford to frequent often? No. But it was a delightful weekend treat and I was so thankful for family who went along with my new restaurant ideas. I'm excited to see if Provision continues to be a hot spot (it was pretty full already) and am thankful for a local option so close to the Fashion Mall. I'd like to check back in a few months to see if the menu changes or try out new cocktails, but until then, I'll be looking for the next hot thing. read more

Went to Provision on a date night and enjoyed a 3 course meal with lovely drinks. Let's first start by saying that the service was top notch. coursed out the meal perfectly and was very attentive, gave great suggestions and insights on the dishes answering any and all questions that we had. For the first course we enjoyed the tuna tartare and the burrata. The tuna tartare was not traditional but was very tasty! The crispy rice underneath was great but I almost would call it one step away from being sushi not a tartare. The burrata was delicious, loved the crunch from the pepitas. For our mains I had the scallops, which had a wonderful crust on them but were not over cooked. The only thing is that there was not enough gnocchi in the dish overall. my partner had the snapper and honestly I was a little disappointed. Overall was a very dry dish, even the beurre blanc sauce couldn't save it. Lastly for dessert the cheese cake and ricotta doughnuts. The ricotta doughnuts were the star of the show that I almost completely forget about the cheesecake. The banana ice cream that came with the doughnuts was AMAZING. Overall I would recommend this fancy date night spot to anyone! read more

While visiting Indy we stopped in based on a recommendation from a friend. It was a beautiful night so we sat outside. We ordered the scallops and New York strip along with Moscow Mules. All was very good and was the best food and service we had while visiting Indy. read more
